900 Global Origin Performance Test
The 900 Global Origin takes the same powerful Ellipse Asymmetric A.I. core as the EX and wraps it in hybrid — more versatile across conditions, and called 'the dream ball for low-rev players.'
Performance Analysis
Performance Analysis
The 900 Global Origin shares the same Ellipse Asymmetric A.I. core as the Origin EX but wraps it in an RB 93 Hybrid Reactive coverstock with Storm Power Edge finish. The hybrid cover gives this ball a wider usable range across lane conditions compared to the solid EX version, while still maintaining the core’s .050 differential and .020 mass bias for strong angular motion.
On medium-heavy oil, the Origin pushes a touch further down the lane than the EX before making its move. The hybrid coverstock blends traction and length, making this ball forgiving on a variety of patterns. Multiple reviewers called it “the dream ball for low-rev players” — and with 492 units sold, the bowling community agrees.
Who Is This Ball For?
The Origin is ideal for low-rev players who need a ball that does the heavy lifting for them, as well as any bowler looking for a versatile asymmetric that transitions well from fresh to broken-down conditions. If you already own the EX, the Origin complements it perfectly as a step-down option when lanes start to transition.
The Pros
- • Same powerful Ellipse core as the Origin EX in hybrid cover
- • 492 units sold — proven performer
- • Hybrid coverstock handles widest range of conditions
- • Dream ball for low-rev players by multiple reviewers
The Cons
- • Hybrid less aggressive than the EX solid on heavy oil
- • Slightly higher price than the EX

900 Global knocks a grand slam out of the park with the all-new Origin! From my perspective, the 900 Global Origin is an excellent, versatile addition to the 2024 Storm Products lineup, filling a unique role between balls like the Eternity Pi and Sublime Focus. While the Eternity Pi digs in early and shines on heavier oil with a smooth, continuous backend, it can sometimes hook too early as the lanes transition. On the other hand, the Sublime Focus is great for control on medium-heavy oil but doesn’t have the same backend finish that I get with the Origin. The Origin’s S84 Response Pearl coverstock allows it to store energy for a quick, controlled backend reaction, making it effective on a range of conditions. This balance of control and punch makes the Origin a reliable choice, especially for bowlers who want something that adapts as the lanes change without sacrificing pin carry or predictability. Go to your local SPI proshop and pick yours up on November 22nd!
The Origin features the brand new Ellipse AI core wrapped in RB93 hybrid and finished with power edge. The Origin is the perfect combination of traction in oil and response downlane. The Origin is going to replace my Exotic Gem when I need something with a big engine and the front part of the lane starts hooking too much. Great packaging. Haven't drilled it yet so I'm sure it's all good.

I drilled the new 900 Global Origin 5x4.5x2 using the storm Vls layout system. This layout paired with this ball helps it conserve energy for the end of the pattern. The ball features a brand-new cover/core combo with the RB 93 Hybrid Cover paired with the Ellipse Asym Ai core. This ball gets through the front and the middle of the lane clean with the help of the new Power Edge finish. This ball comes off the spot down lane hard and gets through the pins nicely. The Origin is similar the the Harsh Reality Pearl in the way it stands up and gets through the pins. Personally, I think the Harsh reality Pearl is a bit stronger than the origin, but they both complement each other very well. For me, this ball is in the 3 spot in a 6-ball tournament bag. I highly recommend picking one up on November 22nd!
The 900 Global Origin comes with the RB 93 Hybrid Reactive cover, Ellipse Asymmetric A.I. Core, and power Edge finish. This cover and core are new from 900 Global. The strength chart that we got during the release had this ball in the mid-range but it most certainly is not. It is much stronger than I was expecting and to me it is SPI’s strongest ball out right now. I compared this ball to the harsh pearl and I have it stronger. The hard pearl is a touch cleaner and weaker for me. Maybe it is the new Power Edge finish because it feels closer to Step 2 and so far, it is really good. If you are needing a shiny ball for more oil, then this is the ball to get. It is really good and a great release from 900 Global. 900 Global The Origin Coverstock: Reserve Blend 93 Hybrid Finish: Power Edge Core: Ellipse Core with A.I. (14 pd) RG: 2.49 Differential: 0.050 Int Diff: 0.020 Layout: 4 1/2 x 5 x 4 - 2LS Layout Extras: 2 1/8 Finger Depth, "X" - 4 1/2 D and 1 Inch Left Tester: PAP 6 1/2 R, 1 1/4 D Review: The Origin features an all new coverstock/core combination. The excitement around this ball is huge. Where it will fit in your bag is right under your big asymmetrical pieces such as your 900 Global Harsh Reality and/or your Harsh Reality Pearl. One thing you will notice the core is a completely different shape but the "numbers" are similar to other 900 releases such as the Sublime and the Sublime Focus. Although the Origin is an asym offering compared to a symmetrical you will find The Origin will fit nicely in an arsenal. What does this mean to you? It means your Origin new coverstock along with the new Power Edge finishing will give you length and still retain energy. It also means when your big asymmetrical balls start to labor The Origin will start to shine during the transition period. A good ball within the 900 Global line to compare The Origin to is the Sublime. The reason why is the Sublime concept is good but the Reacta Gloss finish untouched could make this ball slightly unpredictable. Specifically the Sublime was a touch to clean and a bit late off the spot. The Origin with Power Edge appears to match up much better with the OOB finish. A much deeper analysis will be coming as a few SPI MatchMaker events will be coming up to round out the year. My speed tends to be slower, so bigger balls burning up early can be a common occurrence before I change surfaces or let lane shine build up. The Origin with Power Edge takes some of the above out of play which I'm excited about. Also, out in the eastern region lane beds are continuing to get older and older. The need to create length and control with bowling ball offerings is continuing to grow. For me, I did not do any surface adjustments on The Origin. It was not needed and I'm satisfied with the OOB surface as is. Layout: 4 1/2 x 4 x 3 Surface: Power Edge Rev Rate: 470 Tilt: 13* The 900 Global Origin brings a brand-new core and coverstock combination to the 900 series lineup. The Core is the brand-new Ellipse AI Core and coverstock is the brand new RB93 Hybrid. The combination of these two bring a new look on the lanes for the lineup. The Sapphire/Sky/Purple colors really pop on the shelf and on the lanes making it very easy to recognize the rotation of the ball as it goes down the lane. The RB93 Hybrid coverstock feels like it has a lot of teeth to it. It can handle heavier oil with ease, and it shows in its performance. What makes this ball stand out, is its continuation. On my 44ft Typical House Pattern, the strength of the core allows this ball to be used on the fresh where you still need the ball to slow down enough to strike. The coverstock also allows this ball to in to out on the lanes if that is more of your strength. The versatility of this ball will allow this ball to be used in multiple transition periods. In my league, I am able to use this ball on the fresh while giving me the advantage of being further left of my fellow competitors. The continuation of this ball allows me to continue to move left with my feet as transition occurs without sacrificing hitting power. The backend shape is a strong and semi angular motion that helps blend the lanes well. The characteristic of this ball allows can make this ball the first ball out of my bag or a later game ball when carry down starts to occur. Compared to the Harsh Reality, it is definitely cleaner through the front by a few feet and more angular down lane. Compared to the Harsh Reality pearl, I still see similar comparisons to the solid. It gives me a very similar midlane strength but is not as forward in the back part of the lane. The Origin is the more versatile option in my opinion. I would recommend the Origin to someone who rolls either Harsh Reality and wants a cleaner and more continuous reaction, someone who wants a ball for the fresh where a strong and cleaner cover is necessary or someone who is speed dominant or rev challenged. 900 Global Origin Review Layout-VLS 5x4 3/8x2 Surface-Storm Power Edge The 900 Global features a new Ellipse Asymmetrical AI core wrapped in the new RB93 Hybrid Coverstock. The Origin core uses a very strong intermediate diff which makes it very strong at the breakoint. The Origin will be a great compliment to the to the 900 Global lineup. Compared to the Harsh Reality Pearl you will see more length and a stronger move at the breakpoint with no quit on the backend. The Orgin will still read the midlane but with a strong angular motion on the backend creating a strong enrty angle. The Orgin reminds me alot of the OG Zen through the fronts but with a strong backend motion. Available November 22nd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Reserve Blend 93 hybrid coverstock with Power Edge was designed to provide unmatched performance on medium to heavy patterns. The Ellipse A.I core was created to push the boundaries of asymmetric performance, allowing for maximum energy retention to generate an aggressive backend reaction. The Origin is the only hybrid asymmetric ball in the 900 Global lineup and should fit nicely between the Harsh Reality and Harsh Reality Pearl. The Origin gave me a great look sliding on 30, looking 17 at the arrows with my breakpoint around 6-7. I was able to move left and not sacrifice ball motion and carry with speed and hand position adjustments. When compared to the Harsh Reality Solid, the Origin was cleaner through the fronts and created more downlane motion. Depending on the pattern and lane surface, the Origin could be the first ball out of your bag or a number two ball after the Harsh Reality starts to burn up. I can see the Origin getting a lot of use in league because of the cliffed pattern. The Origin sets a new standard for dynamic core technology, delivering unmatched control and power with every throw. Stop by your local Storm VIP pro shop to check it out! Available on November 22nd. I threw this piece on a fresh house pattern. Out of Box ball motion started in the mids with a sharp backend reaction through the pins. I compared this to the Harsh Reality Pearl. The Harsh Reality Pearl started earlier in the midlane with a smooth motion on the back end. This Origin will be a good piece to start a block or game 1 in league with enough oil on the lanes. This piece will be good for all types of styles. Check Out the Ball motion Video on my YouTube Page: https://youtube.com/shorts/rgxT03W-yvE

I went with a pin down 5 x 4 x 4.5 where I was wanting to keep the ball under control for fresher patterns still demanded stronger, but controlled backend. What I didn’t anticipate is how strong the cover and PowerEdge was even in oil! This ball is pretty early for me where I will need more oil for this to be more in play. I can also see this as a transition piece where there is a “cliff”, this piece can more than likely handle those types of transitions. The new core really throws these pins around once it reaches the deck that’s for sure!! If you’re looking for an earlier, cleaner piece, then the Origin is for you!!! This ball is STRONG!! The new Origin features a new cover and core combo that hooks a bunch. This piece slots above the S2, VEBO, and while its longer than the Ion Max, it can cover more boards. For a shiny hybrid, this ball hooks downlane enough that I can slow hook this ball and chase the shot in. The versatility of this ball really surprised me as well. I can use it to blend out the cliff on fresh, and as they open up it keeps going as I move in. The other ball I use to blend is the Ion Max, but it can get a little early/slow as the lanes start to break down. The cleaner cover on the Origin keeps it in play much longer. This clean, strong, continuous asym is at the top of my bag and really splits the difference between tippy and blendy. The usability here is surprisingly good, and this is gonna be a ball that matches up to a lot of different styles on a lot of different conditions/surfaces. This is hook-in-a-box in the BEST way! -Chase Valenzuela

The ball is clean and that again tends to get me into trouble as I do not have the rev rate to get it back but that is just not an issue with this ball. So, I drilled this ball up for one of my customers at the same time that I drilled mine up. That same night ironically, we were matched up against each other head-to-head. He switched to this ball about halfway through game 1 to beat me and then used it to go 250+ on me the next game. The whole time he kept telling me hey you should be throwing yours. You know what I should have listened to him even though I ended up winning game 3. So, the next night I bowled I ended up starting the night with the Origin and came out the gate with 8/ 8/ the next 9 and a 4 pin for 277. Right away I messaged him letting him know he was right. Since then, this is the first ball out of my bag in league each week and I am usually able to stay in this ball a majority of the night as it allows me to move left and shape it a little. The new Power Edge on the hybrid reactive cover is something special for me. It gives me comfort knowing the ball is still getting down lane with a good amount of backend, even though sometimes it definitely looks like it is picking up early. The funny thing is when I first threw the Phaze AI with the Power Edge it gave me that same eye reaction down lane.
Dual Angle Layout: 55 x 4 ½ x 25 Storm Vector Layout: 4 ½ x 4 ½ x 1 5/8 The Origin features the 93 Hybrid Reactive cover stock wrapped around the Ellipse Asymmetric A.I. core. The all-new Power Edge polish makes this ball a gamechanger. This ball is clean and super responsive down lane. This ball reminds me a lot of the Harsh Reality Pearl but in hybrid form so it a touch earlier but just as strong. This is a great game one ball on house shot.
The 900 Global Origin is designed for bowlers who seek precision and performance on the lanes. The heart of the Origin is its innovative core, the new Eilpse AI core. This core is wrapped inside a brand new cover, the R93 Hybrid cover, finished with Power Edge Polish, this ball looks as good as it performs. In terms of performance, bowlers can expect a reliable mid-lane roll with the 900 Global Origin. The ball excels on medium to heavier oil patterns, providing enough backend recovery to hit the pocket with authority. The balance between traction and skid allows for versatile shot-making, making it suitable for various playing styles. I have only got to use it on a house pattern, and I really look forward to testing this ball on patterns where I think it will really shine. This ball for me would be a step down from my Harsh Reality and Ion Max. Early to mid block is where I anticipate this ball excelling. Overall, the 900 Global Origin is an excellent choice for bowlers aspiring for consistent performance and high scores. With its carefully engineered core and coverstock, it delivers a powerful punch while maintaining control. Whether you're a seasoned player or just starting, the Origin promises to elevate your bowling experience. Consider adding this ball to your arsenal for a noticeable impact on your game! The new 900 Global Origin features the brand new Ellipse AI core and RB93 Hybrid cover. I drilled mine 5 x 4 x 2 and after throwing this ball for awhile, it will probably be a staple in my bag as the first asymmetrical ball out of my bag once the lanes transition. Its cleaner and more angular than the new Attention Star S2 with more pop down lane. It really allows me to open my angles up and bridges the gap between the other asymmetrical balls in the SPI line up with the symmetrical ones. I think this ball will be very popular on house condition as well because of the motion it makes.

The Ellipse A.I. core features an Intermediate Differential number higher than you've ever seen in a 900 Global ball. Teamed up with the Reserve Blend 93 cover you get power in the right place. The Origin checks every box, great control, motion and continuation. I tested the Origin for the first time in league. I took it out game 2 so I could figure out if it was going to look better in the transition or on the burn. My only regret was not starting the night with it because it turns out it was better on EVERYTHING. I noticed right away that I had more forgiveness on my misses than I'd had lately. If I pulled the ball into the puddle it still peeled off and went through the pins. If I over-threw it, it came screaming back. I really took away the over/under of the pattern too. As I bumped left I kept waiting for the ball to stop wanting to come around because with the amount of over-all hook I got out of the ball, I assumed I couldn't see it keep continuing when I got really deep. No issues the rest of the night. I threw it on a lane with some open play traffic a few days later. The Origin clears early friction remarkably well for so strong a ball, but it also really cuts through the carry-down oil. It's a special ball that feels useful on every lane no matter what condition the oil is in. Compared to even my Harsh Reality Pearl, (Which I loved) its just so incredibly versatile. I'm very hyped by what I've seen of the origin. 900 Global Origin: Core/Cover: Ellipse Core with A.I. Technology with RB93 hybrid cover with Power Edge finish. Layout: 5 ¼ x 4 x 3 ¼ To bring you up to speed with the latest High-Performance ball from 900 Global, here is some tidbits on the all-new Origin. First off is the new Ellipse, the Y and Z axles weights are evenly distributed across them and using a single density material on the core allows even balance from the top to the bottom of the weight block, creating the most torque on a core that 900 Global has ever produced. Now for the RB93 cover, yes, it is a hybrid and the 900 Global “reserve blend” now known as “RB”, has a reading of 93. Based on a 1 to 100 scale, it's the most aggressive hybrid cover that EVER been on any 900 Global balls in their history. Now, on the lanes, I took this new knowledge and applied it to my practice to get the best bang for my practice bucks. Knowing that I could really use my typical HS starting and targets, I just decided to move WAY to the right --- Yes, I am a lefty for those that don’t know me, and used the first tracer board as a target and got to the spot consistently, and the Origin did read pretty well from that spot, went a little strong on fresh, but after repeating on hitting the same zone of the lane, the ball really started to develop better and better as time went on during practice. In league for me, it is not the first ball out of the bag unless I am bowling on older HPL or Brunswick panels because it need the extra length, in which the Origin does provide for me. The more I opened my angles on Pro-Lane, and using the outside tracer board, the better the Origin performed. It outdueled my Attention Star S2, because the more carried down occurred, the S2 started to quit a little, and maybe more because of the finish on the cover, but I did not want to break or change that cover on the S2, because its perfect for me as it is. So, if you are in of that new BIG piece to add to your league or tournament bag, look no further, the Origin is the best bet for you. The all new 900 Global Origin has the new Ellipse core with A.I. technology the coverstock on this ball is RB 93 which is one of the more aggressive hybrid coverstocks. This core is quite strong so the layout used was pin down to try and keep this ball from rolling to forward down lane. For having a 900 series cover this ball was cleaner than I expected. Even though it gets down the lane well it does hook earlier than my Attention Star. Players looking for a something stronger than the Attention Star that is a little more forward will love the Origin For tournament players this ball will fit better during the transition when the pattern gets beat up, or when there isn’t a higher amount of volume on the lane. League players who will enjoy the Origin the most will be the slower ball speeds with a lower rev rate, this ball will be strong enough to pick up but not as earlier as the sanded asymmetric balls, also players with a higher rev rate may be able to use this ball on the fresh as this ball revs up earlier and also blends out the pattern better than some of the other shiny balls.
Physix Blackout https://www.youtube.com/shorts/n8NFbT7Nrj0 Attention Star S2 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s3G-wOwqjv0&t=1s... Road Warrior https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b8T_lgwG4BM&t=1s Origin https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VFs8AQas00g&t=1s Ball Reviews: Physix Blackout: The Physix Blackout has become one of my favorite balls. It is usable on a variety of conditions and has become the first out the bag on THS in different centers which play entirely different which shows some of the versatility of this ball. The pearl cover with the 2000 finish allows the ball to be clean through the front of the lane yet smooth off the breakpoint and allows plenty of continuation down lane when it is needed most. I have been able to play with my angles closed and opened as well as get a little deeper into game 2 than other asym options that would typically burn up by this point. This ball, also, was good on sport. Bowling on 45' where my angle was closed towards the pocket this ball provided plenty of motion through the pins given the longer distance and higher volume of what I was bowling on. This ball is a must have for the competitive bowler and is another great rendition in the Physix line. Attention Star S2: The hybrid version of the Attention line is out with a much more controllable smooth motion compared to its predecessor the Attention Star. The S2 is great for those medium to heavier oil conditions when control is needed. I found this very usable on sport conditions when my angles needed to be closed and I wanted to keep everything in front of me and control to the pocket. This ball is slower responding than the original which allows you to use this on the fresh. When the lanes begin to hook up front and a cleaner reaction is needed you can piggy back onto to the original to continue to allow your ball to angle down lane without sacrificing energy and hitting power at the pins. Road Warrior: A new iteration the the popular Road line is back with the Road Warrior. This version is a pearl with the R2S deep cover. It is much slower than the original HyRoad pearl, which makes it more controllable. When you need a cleaner reaction than the stronger asym or symmetrical's the Road Warrior will be a good option to go to. Origin: New core, new cover and tons of power. The Origin is great for those medium to heavier oil conditions. At first, I found the ball a little too clean so I adjusted the surface to 2000 to get it to pick up sooner. The surface adjustment made all the difference in seeing the ball motion I was looking for. I found success on THS when the lanes play tight and I want to play more up the track area. Origin reserved tons of energy as it exited the pattern and continued well through the pins. Also, saw success on sport when my angles needed to slowly open up this ball was strong enough to dig into the deeper part of the lane where oil was still present yet provided strong continuation down lane that didn't sacrifice carry. The Origin will be a good option on on fresh or transition.
The Origin has an all new core wrapped in the Reserve Blend 93 Hybrid coverstock - Global has changed the Reserve Blend coverstock notations to run between 0-100 to designate the cover strength - so the Reserve Blend 93 is a very strong hybrid coverstock. I drilled the Origin up with my new favorite layout for big asymmetric balls - 5 x 5 x 4 that puts the pin in my middle finger. Hank Boomershine has a great video on the Ellipse AI core - even with the big core, it doesn’t stop downline and start rolling forward. It is very continuous and allowed me to play all over the lane. I typically have a problem carrying the 10 pin when I start moving deep with asymmetric balls, but had no issues moving deep with the Origin. So far, I’ve only been able to use it on our house shot, but found it to be very capable throughout the night. Layout: 5 x 5 x 4 My Specs - Speed - 16 mph, Rev Rate - 315. PAP 5 1/8 x 7/8 Up.
The Origin is 900 Global’s newest asymmetrical release. It features an all-new aggressive Reserve Blend 93 hybrid coverstock. Inside is the new Ellipse A.I. core. At 15 pounds, the Origin has a low RG of 2.48 with a .050 differential, and a .020 intermediate differential. Looking at the low RG and high intermediate differential, you may think this ball will read early and roll out on the backend, but that is certainly not the case with Origin. The cover is finished with Power Edge which helps provide ease through the front while providing good midlane traction. The backend of the Origin is strong and continuous and the A.I core provides excellent pin action. This is one of the best releases from 900 Global and definitely a ball of the year candidate in my opinion. The versatility of this ball makes it usable on a wide range of conditions by many different styles of bowlers. The Origin is one of the few balls that I can use all night long on a typical league condition. It is also a great tournament ball for medium to heavy oil conditions.
The origin is a must-have addition to your arsenal. From a THS, to sport patterns w/ oil/transition, the origin is a game changer. The ellipse AI core paired with the RB93 Hybrid coverstock provides the perfect combination of torque, power, and control. It has an aggressive backend motion, cutting through il with ease while maintaining precision. Give this ball a shot!
900 Global Origin Layout: 4.5 x 4.0 x 2 Storm Pin Buffer Layout Rev Rate: 325 rpm, 7 degree of axis tilt, 40 degree of axis rotation Testing information: 41 foot THS (medium to light volume) Bowling Center: Fulton Bowling Center Kegel Machine – Brunswick Anvilane 900 Global Harsh Origin utilizes the Reserve Batch 93 Blend hybrid coverstock and the new Ellipse AI core. The Origin is becoming one of my favorite balls quickly. I drilled it on a Saturday night and threw it on Sunday at a senior tournament and averaged 240 for 7 games. On top of that, it was from playing 15 and left at the arrows. I just threw it yesterday in a 8 game sweeper that featured a very demanding low ratio oil pattern. By the end of the day, I was crossing 25 at the arrows with the Origin and had the best look of anyone. This senior isn’t use to playing that deep anymore. It was fun. The Origin is going to my step-down from the Physix Blackout or Attention Star S2. I am looking forward to the future with the Origin. Visit your local Storm VIP Pro Shop! #Stormnation #SquadRG
I'm up and down low to mid rev. 15-16 mph. This ball squares up the pocket like no other I've thrown. Posted 738 out the box, worked well on 43ft sport pattern too. Couldn't be happier with my purchase
900 Global has a winner here for sure! This is one of my favorite balls already! Love its shape down lane and its reaction on different patterns.
This ball is amazing probably the best since my alpha crux. I have bowled a 835 an 805 with a 300 game and multiple high 700 series in the last 2 months. Definitely a winner
