The newest addition to the Roto Grip HP3 line is a tour version of the Gremlin called the Gremlin Tour X.
Like other Tour releases the new version of the Rondure core features a lower RG and lower Differential compared to its original version. They wrapped this new core in a hybrid version of the VR-1 cover that was on the Gremlin and finished it at 4000.
I personally haven't had as much luck with with tour releases. I'm not sure if it's my lower ball speed but for whatever reason tour cores very often seem to hook too much for me until I try to play angles where I need them too. That being said I didn't go into this review with high expectations for my reaction with this ball. I noticed immediately that this ball was more controllable than previous Tour releases I've used.
The Gremlin Tour X seems to blend this earlier revving core with perfect cover. I saw mid-lane read and great continuation immediately. I would hesitate to call the Gremlin Tour X either a strong or weak ball but rather it fits really well in the benchmark category. Now without the lengthy explanation of what strong and weak really mean I'll just state that this ball Isn't as early for me as the original gremlin was and it continues SOOOO much better. I could see the Tour X being helpful for literally every style of bowler.
This ball also responds really well to hand position changes which keeps it in play even longer. With straighter angles you can throw this ball on the freshest lanes and you can stay with it much longer than you would expect for a core that revs up that quickly.

The team and I spent some time discussing when and where the Roto Grip Gremlin TOUR-X would be most effective, and we decided to test and film it on a breakdown after a league shot. The goal was to see if this could be the go-to transition ball after throwing stronger pieces like the ION Max or Equinox Solid. Right off the bat this ball seemed familiar and after we were talking about what we were seeing it reminded us of a TOUR Dynam-X.
Within the first few shots, I started standing on 25, playing the track area and getting the ball to 12-14 at the arrows and 7–9 downlane. Since the pattern had already been bowled on, transition happened quickly and we were moving every couple of shots. I eventually moved left to around 31 with my feet, looking 15-17 at the arrows, and the ball continued to shape really well through the fronts while still driving through the pins.
Thanks for reading and watching! If you like this or any of the jerseys you see in my videos, head over to www.IAmBowling.com and use HIRSCH at checkout to save 20% off your order.

Roto Grip Gremlin Tour-X 4 ½ x 4 x 4 ½ Very smooth, predictable and controllable. Clean through the fronts but continuous through the pins. I can see myself using this ball on the fresh (with more surface) if they are really hard and I want to control the pocket and even throughout transition. Gremlin Tour-X is very similar to the Ion Pro which has been one of my favorites since it was released but now that is has been discontinued I feel that this Gremlin Tour-X will be the replacement. This ball will get plenty of lane time for me in tournaments on a variety of patterns. Get yours Friday 3/13 at your local Storm VIP Pro Shop

Roto Grip’s new Gremlin TOUR-X is a Hybrid (2 parts Solid. 1 Part Pearl) Asymmetrical piece that is good for Medium-Heavy Volume patterns.
PAP is 5 5/16 R 1 3/16 Up. Rev Rate: 400. Speed: 16.5.
I drilled this piece with the Pin up between the fingers, CG kicked out 1” from the palm, and 1” Left of the Mass Bias. 5 x 4 x 2 ½.
I threw this piece on a Shark 47’ pattern. Out of Box ball motion started in the mids with a strong predictable motion on the backend.
I compared this to the Gremlin. Gremlin was overall 2-3 boards more. Cleaner through the fronts with a sharper backend compared to the Gremlin TOUR-X.
This is a good 1-2 punch from the Gremlin Line.

The layout is 4 1/2 x 4 1/8 x 2 (50 x 4 3/4 x 30 using the dual angle layout). Since the tournament season is approaching, I decided to challenge myself and bowl on a 43-foot sport pattern with 31 mLs, and a 4:1 oil ratio with a speed bump at around 38 feet.
The cover of the V-R1 Hybrid and the medium-low differential of the Rondure Tour-X core provided a smoother, yet rounded response to the speed bump down lane. The box finish of 4000 surface is amazing for me to to create a shape down lane that was predictable, consistent and provide continuation through the pins. A lot of strikes were thrown on this pattern and became very playable and adaptable quickly!
This is a great replacement of the Storm Ion Pro hybrid that was discontinued some months back. If you are looking for a ball that is smooth, and reliable and ready for the tournament season, definitely grab this one! This one is definitely coming with me!

The Roto Grip Gremlin Tour-X features the V-R1 Hybrid reactive cover wrapped around the Rondure Tour-X asymmetric core, finished at 4000-grit—so it’s built for medium flare and a super controlled, stable motion that blends the lane and keeps everything in front of you . For me, this ball is all about control and predictability, especially on tougher or transition-heavy patterns where I don’t want anything jumpy. It reads the midlane smoothly, never overreacts off the spot, and just gives me that “stay in play” type of motion that’s easy to trust. Compared to something like the Hyperdrive or even the original Gremlin, it’s noticeably more controlled and less aggressive, which actually makes it more usable when the lanes get tricky. I’m not using this to open up the lane—it’s more of a precision piece—but when I need to blend wet/dry and keep carry consistent without guessing, the Tour-X is one of the most reliable balls I can throw.
This ball is like an ion pro plus 5 boards. Very controllable and very strong
General bowler information:
Right-handed stroker
Release speed: around 16 mph
Rev rate: approximately 240 rpm
PAP: 4 1/2 over, 1/2 up
Here's a look at my Roto Grip Gremlin Tour-X. The Rondure Tour-X core is a modification of the core found in balls such as the Rubicon and Tour DynamX. It features a low RG (2.48), lower differential (0.034), and moderate PSA (0.011). The coverstock, V-R1 Hybrid Reactive, is a hybrid version of the cover on the original Gremlin and has a 4000 Abralon factory finish.
Mine was drilled 50 x 4.5 x 30 (dual angle) or 4.5 x 4.25 x 1.875 (VLS), a fairly typical layout for me which I used on one of my favorite balls, the Ion Pro Solid. My video (link below) is on the house pattern at Cedar Lanes in Sandusky, OH, which is 45 feet on 60+ year old wood lanes after my trio league. The reaction was smooth and controllable, as expected. Carry was very good, except for getting Cedar’d on a couple of solid 8’s! This ball is a useful addition to my arsenal.

The Gremlin has been reborn in TOUR-X form! It features the V-R1 (Versatile-Response 1st Edition) hybrid cover and the new Rondure Tour-X core. The V-R1 hybrid cover was created to create mid-lane stability and provide a consistent reaction to friction on a wide variety of patterns. The Rondure Tour-X core was strategically reengineered to generate a smooth backend reaction and controlled shape. The Gremlin gave me a great look sliding on 30, looking 17 at the arrows with my breakpoint around 7-8. I was able to play multiple angles by changing my speed and hand position. It also did an excellent job blending out the wet/dry on the high friction house pattern. When compared to the original Gremlin, it was several feet earlier and much rounder off the end of the pattern. If you loved the original Gremlin, but need a smoother motion without compromising carry, the Gremlin Tour-X is what you need! Stop by your local Storm VIP pro shop to check it out! Available on March 13.

The Gremlin Tour-X features the V-R1 Hybrid Coverstock wrapped around the Rondure Tour-X Core, creating a very versatile and reliable reaction on a variety of lane conditions.
After throwing this ball on several different patterns, it has quickly become one of the most dependable pieces in my bag. The Gremlin Tour-X is clean through the front part of the lane, while still providing a smooth, predictable motion downlane that allows me to stay in control of the pocket.
For me, this is a great ball to start with, or it fits perfectly as the second ball out of the bag after my Concept when I need something that blends the lane a little better while still creating continuation.
If you're looking for a true benchmark reaction that gives you control, versatility, and a smooth shape, the Gremlin Tour-X is definitely one to add to your arsenal.
I had to leave a review because I shot a 300 and a 741 out of the box. I love this ball so far, who wouldn't? It rolls so well, some compare it to the Storm Ion Pro, but this to me rolls a lot better, more controllable on the back ends. I thew a 300 with the original Gremlin a couple weeks ago, so I had to get this ball! And I'm glad I did! I feel I can start with the Gremlin tour-X and move onto the Gremlin if I need to. A great 1-2 ball punch. Also rolls different than the Roto Grip Transformer. There is a place for every ball, some people like the way they roll some don't. I just feel this ball is more controllable. I'm 52 years old and I love this ball. Watch videos for your style, watch other bowlers. This ball just fits in my bag for me, I'm really happy with it, its a benchmark ball to give you the option to keep throwing it, or go to something different.
The Gremlin Tour-X has such a smoother motion than the original Gremlin. It has been a great ball for me lately when I get to the middle of game 2. I love how predictable the ball motion is and it definitely keeps me out of trouble. The one thing I have noticed with this ball is that I can not move too much left but with how smooth it is I don’t really need to.

Roto Grip Gremlin Tour-X:
Ball info: Core - Rondure Tour-X, which has a lowered DIFF and RG from the original Rondure core. COverstock - V-R1 hybrid coverstock, middle of the road in aggressiveness and backend reaction, a true “straighter is greater coverstock”. The surface was prepped at 4000 grit from the factory to keep the predictability of the ball intact.
My Specs: Rev rate 420’s, ball speed 15.3 to 15.8 mph off the hand, axis tilt of 16 degrees and axis rotation of 70 degrees, PAP is 3 13/16th up 1/8th. Used on 39ft and 42 ft flatter patterns and 2025 Doubles and Singles USBC Open Championship pattern.
The Roto Grip Gremlin Tour-X is the next release in the all-new Storm Bowling Tournament Collection of balls. When I saw this one being released, my thoughts went back a few years when the Rubicon UC2 was released with a 4k surface. I found out that the Tour-X was a little smoother overall, mainly because I feel lowering the DIFF and RG made the core a little more even, but not weak. The Tour-X has taken the place of my IQ Tour A.I. that I had at 3000 grit surface in my tournament bags for the medium and flatter patterns. In the past I needed to constantly adjust the surface to keep the IQ Tour to see the reaction I was looking for. So far, the GT-X, which is what I nicknamed it, has not had to undergo any surface adjustments to keep the angels closed down and really keeping the reaction even and still strong through the pin deck. The good news also is that I was also able to use the GT-X on a house pattern where the lane surface is very high friction from 2 decades of use, where everything else would hook instantly, or the Concept and LeveL is not strong enough the GT-X steps up and takes the lanes over like a true menace like a Gremlin should.

The Gremlin Tour-X is Roto Grips newest HP3 line ball. The Gremlin Tour-X features a modified version of Rondure MaxD core found in the OG Gremlin which lowers the overall diff drastically. This combined with the V-R1 Hybrid cover produces a much earlier and more stable ball motion. For anyone that was a fan of the Original Ion Pro Hybrid, this feels almost like a carbon copy. The Gremlin Tour-X is now available from any Storm VIP Pro Shop!

The brand-new Gremlin Tour-X is the newest "tour" ball in the Roto Grip lineup since the Tour Dynam-x. What sets this one apart is the new Rondure Tour-X core. This core provides the same low RG but higher differential and intermediate differential compared to previous tour balls. This provides a little more overall hook and backend compared to the Tour Dynam-X. The core is complemented by the new V-R1 Hybrid coverstock which helps this ball get very good continuation with the ability to blend the lanes more.
I was able to test this on a fresh 43ft typical house shot. On the fresh, this ball did nothing but blend the lane out so well. Ample continuation while controlling the lane was the key to its success. I was able to be straighter up the lane due to its weaker core and strike fairly easily. As the front started to go, I started to see some early hook. As I moved in to about 20 with my feet, the coverstock came alive creating easy length and a very continuous down lane motion. It had no trouble turning the corner and going through the pins properly. As I had to get into 25+ with the ball, the weaker strength of the ball started to show and I had to slow down my ball speed to get it to hook enough in the oil. When I was able to slow down enough, my ball continued through the pins fairly well. If I got firm or missed into the oil, it struggled to get the corner out or hook enough. All of the reactions were fairly expected. Adjusting the surface to 2000 grit would allow me to get further left in the oil more successfully. On sport patterns, I would need to bring the surface down to get more traction in the higher volume of oil. I recommend this ball for anyone who is looking to blend the lanes better, get rid of that wet/dry reaction or just a weaker controllable ball for the fresh. The continuation of the ball will allow many styles to use this ball with ease. Compared to the Storm Ion Pro Solid at its Power Edge finish, I saw more midlane traction out of the Gremlin Tour-X. To me the Gremlin felt slightly stronger and not as fast response to friction.
As a right-handed tweener with a PAP of 1" up and 3.5" over, about 14 mph ball speed, and roughly 330 RPM, the Roto Grip Gremlin Tour-X has become a very reliable option in my league bag. I primarily bowl on a 40' house shot on synthetic lanes with built-in friction, and this ball matches up extremely well with that environment.
The first thing I noticed with the Gremlin Tour-X is how smooth and predictable the motion is. It gets through the front of the lane clean without burning up early, but it still reads the midlane strong enough to avoid skidding too far. For my speed and rev rate, the reaction shape is a controlled arc rather than a sharp flip, which helps keep the ball in play even when I miss slightly right or left.
On a typical house shot, I can start around the second arrow and let the ball make a smooth move toward the pocket. As the lanes transition, the Gremlin Tour-X still retains plenty of energy, allowing me to move a little deeper without losing continuation through the pins.
What really stands out is how well this ball blends the wet/dry conditions that house shots tend to create. It doesn’t overreact when it touches friction, and it doesn’t quit when it sees a little extra oil. The result is a very confidence-inspiring ball motion that makes it easier to repeat shots.
The new Roto Grip Gremlin Tour-X features the V-R1 hybrid coverstock finished at 4000 grit abralon, and the Rondure Tour-X core. At 15 pounds, this ball has a low RG of 2.48 with a differential of .034 and an intermediate differential of .011. I drilled this ball at 5x5x2 putting the pin above my bridge. This ball is very different than the original Gremlin, so don’t let the nameplate fool you. Many people compare this ball to the original Stom Ion Pro, but for me the Gremlin Tour-X is a stronger overall ball and has a more angular backend motion. The new Gremlin Tour-X will provide the bowler with high usability on many lane conditions, making this a must purchase for any league bowler who bowls in a high friction center, as well as any tournament bowlers who need a ball they can rely on to provide a consistent reaction when the scoring pace is on the lower side.
The Gremlin Tour-X is part of the Storm Tournament Collection and fits right square in the middle of the arsenal. As the name indicates, it’s part of the Gremlin series, but is a “tour” version so it emphasizes control instead of crazy ball motion. It essentially is intended to provide “professional-grade motion.” The original Gremlin is a great ball that has been a little overlooked by me and many pros I think because it was released at the end of the year when most of the PBA season was over. In the current environment when many bowlers are infatuated with big back end motion or dramatic ball motion, I was really excited for the Gremlin Tour-X because I was hoping it could be a controllable ball that can be used on a variety of patterns. The coverstock is the versatile reactive V-R1 featured on the Gremlin, but on the Tour-X, it’s hybrid rather than pearl and comes factory sanded at 4000 grit. This makes it smooth rather than skiddy and quick response. The core is the Rondure Tour-X which takes the Gremlin Rondure Maxd and tweaks the densities to lower the RG to 2.48 (in the 15#, compared to 2.50 in the original Gremlin). That lower RG combined with the hybrid ensures it won’t skid too far. The differential and the intermediate dif are both low at 0.034 and 0.011, respectively, which is what you would expect for a tour, control piece. That means it’s more about the operator than the equipment making the ball motion. Still, the little bit of asymmetry does help it read the mid lane. I heard many compare it to the Ion Pro Tour (it even looks like it). But to me, the Ion Pro Tour was a little quick and got forward on me while Gremlin Tour-X has a more rounded and continuous shape. I drilled the Gremlin Tour-X 4.5” pin to PAP x 4” pin to PSA x 2” pin to VAL. I took the Gremlin Tour-X to USBC Open Championships and it was exactly what it was supposed to be. In Team event, we broke them down in the track so by the middle of game 2, I put the Gremlin Tour-X in my hand and hit 18 at the arrows and wanted the ball to get just right of the range finder down lane (essentially 9). I proceeded to hit the pocket 19 out of the last 20 shots, threw the back 7 for 240 game 2 and 236 game 3. Everyone should have a Gremlin Tour-X in their bag as the perfect control, versatile middle of the bag ball.
The Gremlin Tour-X is the newest addition to the Roto Grip line. This new ball is featured with the all-new Rondure Tour-X core, along with the VR-1 Hybrid Reactive Cover Stock. It is padded at 4000 grit out of the box and has a medium flare potential. The previous “tour” ball Roto Grip featured was the Tour Dynamix, which was very popular on the PBA Tour, as well as most tournaments I competed in. The Gremlin Tour-X provides more control, a blended hook and backend motion balanced by the solid and pearl cover stocks. As a big fan of “tour” balls, especially throwing the IQ Tour and Dynamix, I was very looking forward to throwing the Gremlin Tour-X. Ball layout: 75 x 4 ¾ x 40. I have tested it a few times on a 42ft league pattern, as well as on 42ft PBA Scorpion recently. The Tour-X works so well at the start on the fresh. It blends out both patterns easily, as I could play a little straighter before opening my angles. With its weak core, the mid lane traction doesn’t tend to jump very quickly as it has a smooth blended shape in the backend. Once the friction started to show, I could move right a couple boards with my feet, and the ball still responds smoothly into the pocket. Surface adjustments can be used, depending on what patterns you are bowling on. The Gremlin Tour-X tends to be a little stronger than the Dynamix. I find the Gremlin Tour-X to fit all varieties of bowling styles, and it is a great addition to have in your bag. Head on out to your local Storm Vip Pro Shop and drill up a Gremlin Tour-X today, you won’t be disappointed!!

I Drilled the new gremlin tour with a 4.75x4.5.4 layout, giving me a pin down layout. I know it sounds odd to drill a low flaring ball pin down, but for the more rev dominant players it works! This ball reminds me of a slightly cleaner version of the Ion Pro. The Weaker hybrid cover with a med-low diff core works wonders on any pattern or surface. This is the ball that fits in the benchmark area of my bag for tournaments. I definitely see this one going to every tournament!

The Gremlin Tour X is the newest addition to the Gremlin line series. The Gremlin Tour X reminds me of the Ion Pro Hybrid. The V-R1 Hybrid Coverstock paired with the Rondure Tour X core will allow me to play straighter on the fresh and move deep inside on the burn. As mid to low rev player l can to stand right of center on the fresh and as far left as 28 board on the burn without losing any carrying power. This ball will be in my bag for league and tournaments. The Roto Grip Gremlin Tour-X is a controlled asymmetric hybrid that fits right into that benchmark/transition slot, but with a much smoother and more predictable shape than most asyms. It features the Rondure Tour-X core with a lower diff, wrapped in the V-R1 Hybrid cover at 4000 grit, giving it a very balanced, controllable motion.
I drilled mine 4 1/2 x 4 x 2, similar to how I drill up most of the tour line balls. The Tour-X feels like a cleaner, more continuous version of the Ion Pro — still very controlled, but just a little more refined.
It’s not a ball you’re using to open the lane up — it’s more of a “stay out of trouble” piece that you can trust when things get tricky. Out of the box, it hooked substantially more than I expected - I’m really hoping that tames down a bit over the next several games.
