Performance Analysis
Performance Analysis
The Roto Grip RST Hyperdrive Pearl takes the most powerful core in Roto Grip’s lineup — the RST + AI asymmetric with .055 differential and .017 intermediate differential — and wraps it in U-R1 Pearl Reactive coverstock with Storm Power Edge finish. The result is more length, more angle, and more explosive backend than the solid version. With 472 units sold, demand has been strong since launch.
Reviewers have called this ball even angrier than the Gremlin, and they’re not wrong. The pearl coverstock pushes through the front of the lane with minimal friction, storing all that energy for a massive backend move. The RST + AI core’s high flare potential means the ball is reading new surface on every revolution, creating a strong, angular motion off the breakpoint that devastates the pins.
Who Is This Ball For?
The RST Hyperdrive Pearl is the transition weapon for power players and tournament bowlers. When the fronts are burned up and you need a ball that can push through the dry and still make a strong move on the backend, this is your answer. Pair it with the solid Hyperdrive for complete heavy oil coverage — solid for fresh, pearl for transition. At $189.95, it’s a premium investment, but the RST + AI core makes it worth every penny.
The Pros
- • Same RST + AI core as the solid — now in pearl
- • Pearl companion for transition play
- • 472 units sold — strong demand
- • Even angrier than the Gremlin according to reviewers
The Cons
- • Premium price at $189.95
- • Pearl can be over/under on damaged conditions

No surprises its the pearl version of the very successful RST Hyperdrive. The RST X2 was a favorite of not only mine but many bowlers so I feel as though many of us were waiting for this one. The Hyperdrive Pearl again features the RST BLOCK + A.I. CORE TECHNOLOGY this time surrounded by a new clean pearl cover called UR1. No nano in this one its just a pure pearl. I tested the RST Hyperdrive Pearl on our 44 ft house pattern. I've mentioned in basically every review that our front panels hook a lot, so I was excited for a new pearl without nano additive. The test lane had been dressed before a morning senior league and I found it in transition. The Hyperdrive Pearl didn't have any issues clearing the front of the lane. It had a nice consistant move in the middle of the lane, rolling very nicely off the back-end of the pattern. It wasn't a super sharp motion, but definitely not slow either. I was pretty happy with how predictable it was. It didn't give me catastrophic results from small misses, which is welcome on a 12-1 pattern. I stayed in the hyperdrive for a few games. I had to do a little manipulation with my hand as I moved left, but no more than i would have expected to with any other ball, and far less than with some of them. I threw the Origin and Attention Star S2 at the same time. These turned out to be good choices for comparison as all three had pretty similar layouts. I could strike with all three in the same place but they had distinct motions down-lane. I felt I was pretty much as the limit of where the S2 would keep going through the pins and the Origin was a little more responsive so i had to be a little more careful with my speed. The Hyperdrive Pearl will be a popular ball this year I think. It's continuation and reliability should keep it in play on a variety of patterns. With the success of the RST Hyperdrive Solid, it was time for an upgrade. Introducing Roto Grips newest addition to the HP4 line, the RST Hyperdrive Pearl! This new asymmetrical ball is featured with the same RST A.I. core found in the Hyperdrive Solid and is introduced with a brand-new pearl cover stock known as the U-R1. Finished with Power Edge technology, the RST Hyperdrive Pearl generates the combination of the Core and Cover to allow the ball to push through the front part of the lane with ease, while providing a strong, responsive, and continuous move at the breakpoint to allow its energy to finish with great results! Ball layout: 70 x 5 3/8 x 40 and comparison to both my Gremlin and Rockstar (same layout applied). Bowling at my home center of Hudson Lanes, in Cortlandt Manor, NY on its 43ft THS, I was quite impressed with the ball motion the RST Hyperdrive Pearl can create. Very clean, very controllable on the backend part of the lanes. This ball can be a first game out of the bag, depending on the amount of oil and friction you get. With my rev rate around 400-450, I can migrate right to left with ease and not worry about the ball over hooking once it goes into the friction. In comparison, the Hyperdrive Pearl tends to be a little cleaner than the Gremlin, whereas the Rockstar and Hyperdrive Solid read the lanes earlier than expected. The Hyperdrive Pearl is best fit for attacking medium/heavy lane conditions. Be sure to stop by your local Storm VIP Pro Shop today and drill up a RST Hyperdrive Pearl! Thomas Coco (Storm Staffer)

Similar shape but has a smoother backend reaction. This piece is good on medium patterns. And will be good for all types of bowlers. The layout is 50 x 4 1/2 x 30 (4 1/2 x 4 1/4 x 1 7/8 using the Vector Layout System. This ball is a great compliment to the RST Hyperdrive Solid. Provides me great length through the fronts, excellent downlane motion and consistent continuation through the pins. The RST Hyperdrive Pearl allows you to move in deeper, send it to the friction, and can trust that it will come back. Or if you like to play straighter, this ball will allow you to play in the friction just a little bit longer. After knocking some of the shine off, this is my favorite asymmetrical pearl in my bag right now! Grab this RST Hyperdrive Pearl… you will not be disappointed!

This ball is great from different parts of the lane as well as to wear you put it in your current ball line up. For me this ball sits as my #2 ball just under the Origin EX. For bowlers that are needing a bigger ball this can also be their ball at the top of their bag. I used the RST Pearl at a center that is usually wet/dry aka over/under. Most balls we say are really clean, but I found the ball to really grip the lane but never really broke loose. Each game I moved 2-3 boards left and the ball just kept coming into the pocket with out being overly aggressive off the spot. I decided to go with something a little different on the RST Hyperdrive Pearl. The layout put the pin in my ring finger and it definitely gives me a smoother shape than normal. I was able to try it game 1 of league and I was pleasantly surprised with the reaction. I was able to play a touch more inside than I have been able to with the RST Hyperdrive in recent weeks. Unfortunately, the approaches were pretty rough for me as it was raining all day and a bit humid inside the alley, so I was not able to move left and get comfortable giving the ball a little shape. I am hoping that I can use it this weekend where I know there is a ton of friction. I feel like between the layout, coverstock, AI core and weight block, I gave myself something special in my bag.
Roto Grip RST Hyperdrive Pearl Coverstock: U-R1 Reactive Finish: Power Edge Core: Roto Star Tour A.I. This design is intended to maximize control while adding more length than the RST Hyperdrive. This ball pour is quite stunning too. The ball intent is to create a motion not readily seen in the SPI line of bowling balls. Bowlers with traditionally lower ball speeds and less revs will absolutely gravitate towards this ball. At recent MatchMaker events a number of players were shocked that the ball rolled well after the Hyperdrive was a bit "too much" for the player. One aspect I like to teach is that if you can achieve length and feel you have a good feeling of ball control it is a win. For me, the RST Hyperdrive has a limited use on house shots. For longer and heavier volume patterns it fits its role nicely. However, the RST Hyperdrive Pearl I am finding use on THS as this ball gets through the front part of the lane with ease. I even scratched mine up with a 3K pad by hand, which provided me more versatility. I'm very excited about this particular ball being a "big" asymmetric with A.I. and initial use has shown the ball has a nice and strong reaction yet I do not need to get overly steep with my angles. This is not what you generally see in most bigger OOB asym pieces. Be sure to grab a Hyperdrive Pearl today. It just might be the surprise of the season. The Roto Grip RST Hyperdrive Pearl is a great option for me when I want that strong asymmetrical motion but with a cleaner, quicker read through the fronts compared to the solid Hyperdrive. The pearl cover lets it glide with ease through the heads, but the RST core still gives me that heavy roll and strong continuation that defines the line. Compared to the Attention Star, the Hyperdrive Pearl is a little cleaner and more angular. For me, the Hyperdrive Pearl really shines in transition on medium to heavier volume patterns when I still want the strength of an asym but need it to store more energy and drive harder through the pins. I needed a 3rd game ball for league and this Rst Hyperdrive Pearl was the perfect ball for it. I had it drilled 3 3/4 x 5 1/2 x 1 3/4. This layout provided me with and angular and clean motion. Late game ball for when everything is over hooking. Highly recommend!!

RST Hyperdrive Pearl Ball Review The RST Hyperdrive Pearl uses the RST weight block with AI Technology wrapped with the new U-R1 pearl coverstock. The U-R1 is a nano free formulation so it will create a clean motion through the fronts with a powerful continous backend motion. RG-2.52 Diff-.055 Int Diff-.017 Asymmetrical Core Finish-Poweredge I drilled my RST Hyperdrive Pearl 4.5x4.5x4 3/8 using the storm VLS layout system. The RST Hyperdrive Pearlwill be clean through the fronts with a quick response downlane to create a strong continous backend motion. The RST Hyperdrive Pearl will be a great compliment to the original RST Hyperdrive. The original RST Hyperdrive solid will be a great option to start on heavy oil and when it's too strong or too early the Hyperdrive Pearl will be a great option. I also compared the Gremlin to the Hyperdrive Pearl and found the Gremlin to have a more rounded shape downlane. Roto Grip RST Hyperdrive Pearl Coverstock: U-R1 Pearl Reactive Finish: Power Edge Core: RST + AI Core RG: 2.52, Diff: 0.055, PSA: 0.017 (15 lb.) The intent with this release was to provide a cleaner reaction through the front part of the lane with a strong, responsive, and continuous move at the breakpoint. For me, the Hyperdrive Pearl has proven to be as advertised. I’ve had an opportunity to throw it in league at 3 different houses, and I’ve had no issues with getting this ball to clear the front part of the lane. Compared to other pearl balls that sometimes don’t quite read the middle part of the lane, the Hyperdrive Pearl consistently reads the body of the pattern well and still has plenty of energy to make a defined motion off the back of the lane and into the pins. Even as the lanes transitioned, I was able to move left and stay with the RST Hyperdrive Pearl and it still maintained a clean, strong, and predictable reaction that I very much appreciate. The RST Hyperdrive Pearl is the complement you’d expect to the solid version and is perfect when you want to keep the same line but the original is too early. In comparison to other pearls, I see the Hyperdrive Pearl being the strongest pearl ball in Roto Grip’s current lineup. While it could be the first ball out of your bag on a normal league pattern, I think it’s most at home as the first ball to switch into when the lanes transition and could be used the remainder of the night. Roto Grip RST Hyper-Drive Pearl Review I drilled my RST Hyper-Drive Pearl with a 5 x 4 x 2 layout. Out of the box, it felt a little too long and jumpy for my liking. After knocking the shine down with a 3000-grit Vise pad, the motion completely transformed — becoming much more usable and reliable across multiple conditions. In league play, I actually prefer the surface closer to a 1500 Power Edge finish. At that level, it gives me the perfect blend of clean through the front and strong continuation through the pins, especially when the lanes get a little wet/dry and my symmetrical equipment starts leaving corners. On sport conditions, I found the ball to be fantastic at 3000 grit, particularly on medium-heavy, longer patterns. Once the lanes begin to open up, it reads the midlane predictably without burning up and still drives hard enough to split the deck, giving me confidence to move inside and trust the motion. Bottom line: If you’re looking for a piece that blends over/under on house shots yet really comes alive on longer sport patterns, the RST Hyper-Drive Pearl is a must-have in your arsenal.
Layout: 5 x 4 x 2 Surface: Power Edge Rev Rate: 470 Tilt: 13* The RST Hyperdrive Pearl brings back the RST Block AI core combined with the brand-new U-R1 Pearl Reactive Coverstock. The new coverstock allows this ball to be very clean through the front part of the lane while the strong core lets it read the midlane very well. The length of this ball reminds me of the discontinued RST-X2 but with stronger overall hook. Compared to the RST Hyperdrive Solid, the Pearl is definitely cleaner but gives a lot of the same motion. Is it more responsive, yes. Is it more angular, not so much. The reaction is still a more rounded than angular shape on the lanes. On my 44ft typical house shot, I see a clean motion with a strong midlane and continuous reaction. What is nice about this ball, I find it to be useful to be both as a fresh ball and transition ball. The core and coverstock are strong enough to use it on the fresh as the reaction will not be over/under when there is cleaner backend on the lane. The power edge finish gets the ball down the lane again without being too angular. As the lanes start to transition, I was able to move more into the middle part of the lane while still seeing very good continuation through the pins. I did find it to be a more useful ball in the transition just due to its cleaner cover, but a simple surface change will allow it to be better on the fresh when needed. I did change the surface briefly to 2000 abralon to remove the power edge. The results I found was the ball was still clean, but the surface got the ball to slowed down even faster making it better for more oil. In my testing, I saw more midlane with a slightly more forward reaction down lane. Again, this type of ball reaction will be better for heavier oil and fresher conditions. I recommend this ball for anyone who likes the Hyperdrive Solid but wants a cleaner and more angular reaction. If you didn't have the Solid, the Pearl will be a good ball for the transition in most environments. Removing the power edge polish will allow it to be better on the fresh. This will not be the most angular asymmetrical pearl in the bag but will give a very consistent and continuation reaction great for a lot of different conditions. Adam Chase Storm Staff
The RST Hyper Drive Pearl (HDP) is Roto Grips newest HP4 release. The HDP features the same RST core found in the OG but is now wrapped in U-R1 pearl and finished with power edge. I personally wasn’t a huge fame of the RST X-2, it felt too quick and clean. The HDP feels slightly earlier and rounder than the X-2. This offers more control and the ability to use it earlier and longer. The HDP has been my go to two ball in league and I have been able to use it later in tournament blocks. The new Hyperdrive Pearl from Roto Grip is the newest addition to the HP4 line and it’s been a complete homerun. I was as huge fan of the original Hyperdrive and when a pearl version was announced, I was excited. The pearl version has been a staple in my bag since I drilled it and I don’t see that changing any time soon. The only difference between the original Hyperdrive and the pearl version is the coverstock. Our wizards in Utah has introduced the U-R1 Pearl Reactive which doesn’t included Nano but still provides an ultra-response time. This makes a huge difference between the original and the pearl and also gives us a nice 1-2 punch as players. In 15 pounds, the RG is 2.52, differential is .055, and PSA is .017. Those numbers tell me this ball wants to fly through the front, but because it has a huge engine, it wants to dig in the mid-lane, but then finish strong in front of the pins for ultimate success. I’ve drilled one so far and really like it. I drilled it a little weaker than the original Hyperdrive for the purpose of trying to use the pearl when I need more shape left to right. It drilled as 5 x 4 x 2. This puts the pin above my bridge and the mass bias just to the right of my thumb. I also scratched the surface with a used 3000 pad just to knock a bit of the shine off. The Hyperdrive Pearl rolls great, looks sweet, and strikes a ton. Go drill one!
Dual Angle: 70 x 4 x 25 Vector: 4 x 5 1/2 x 1 1/2 The RST Hyper Drive features the U-R1 Pearl Reactive cover wrapped around the RST Block + AI Core. This ball for me was super clear and angular down lane. I found the Hyper Drive to be a bit cleaner and sharper than my Attention Star. If your looking for a ball to get down the lane but pack a punch this is the ball for you.
The Roto Grip RST Hyperdrive Pearl is a high-end, thoughtfully balanced tool: it marries the power and continuation of a strong core with the finesse of a pearl cover to offer a ball that’s punchy but controllable. It doesn’t try to be the wildest ball in your bag—it tries to be useful in more conditions, and it largely succeeds. I found it to be a great compliment to my Hyperdrive Solid. Both are laid out the same 4x4.25x2 great control but strong backend hook.
The new release in the HP4 line is the RST Hyperdrive Pearl. I am a huge fan of the original RST Hyperdrive. The motion of the Hyperdrive just fits my roll so well. It has the RG Gem Strength with more motion downlane. So when plant came out with the pearl version I was really looking forward to drilling one. I drilled it with same layout as the solid, 4 3/4 x 4 x 4 pin down. With the new coverstock (U-R1 Pearl Reactive material). Lets just this new cover is very clean through the fronts. I thought the Gremlin's cover was clean, but the RST is longer in my opinion. With this clean cover you get a lot more response off of the friction. At the Storm Matchmakers the RST pearl has been a big hit. With a lot of older lane surfaces out there this days, the RST is a perfect match for the 2nd, 3rd game in league or the later block of tournaments. The RST Hyperdrive Pearl builds on what the original solid version started. What makes this ball unique is the combination of a higher RG core and a clean-but-strong cover. As a result, this ball gets to the back of the pattern really easily while also having no trouble handling a fair amount of volume. The lack of NANO additive creates more length and downlane motion than other balls in the product line, but the stronger base formula still lets this ball be first out of the bag on medium friction. Overall, this ball has been really useable for me on medium friction, and I love how quick it is off the spot. This is the quintessential "skid-snap" house shot killer ball. If you like seeing your ball go sideways down lane, you won't want to miss this one! -Chase Valenzuela
I Drilled the new RST Hyperdrive pearl with a 4.5 inch pin to give me some versatility playing straight and opening up my angles. Thats exaclty what i got with this new ball. The UR1 Pearl paired with the RST Core creates a sharp, angular motion down lane, which is a great step down from the original hyperdrive. This ball fits in the ball 2-3 category for me in a 6 ball arsenal. I can definitely see myself going to this ball when i need to open my angles up or slow my speed down. You won't be disappointed when you pick one of these up!
I was happy to hear when Roto Grip announced the release of the RST Hyperdrive because the original RST X-1 and RST X-2 have been great balls for me. In fact, I had just asked Steve Kloempken if they could start making the X-2 again and a week later, the RST Hyperdrive Pearl was announced- coincidence? The RST Hyperdrive solid featured the Microtrax (solid version) of what was on the original RSTs. The core has AI added which I feel makes the ball a little earlier in the midlane. Therefore the RST Hyperdrive ended up earlier than X-1 and similar to an Ion Max. I was looking forward to trying the RST Hyperdrive Pearl hoping it would be cleaner and an upgraded version of the X-2. Roto Grip ended up putting a brand new U-R1 (Ultra-Response) pearl coverstock on this one which interestingly is nano free that should help it push down the lane easily. The numbers are same as all the solid. The 15# has high RG of 2.52, but slightly lower that original RSTs which tells me what I feel, the AI core does make it stronger in the midlane. It’s high dif at 0.055 so it has plenty of flare potential and the PSA dif is 0.017. Many compared the Hyperdrive Pearl to the Gremlin released just before. I think the Hyperdrive Pearl is more overall, but similar ball motion. Clean through the front, strong midlane which could get it a little forward, so be careful with the layout if you want it continuous. I drilled mine with pin 4 1/2” from my PAP, PSA 4” from PAP and pin 2” from my VAL (4.5x4x2).
The new Roto Grip RST Hyperdrive Pearl features the same Roto Star Tour + A.I. core as the original Hyperdrive, but this version is wrapped in the U-R1 Pearl reactive coverstock and finished with Power Edge. At 15 lbs the RG is 2.25 with a differential of .055 and an intermediate differential of .017. This ball is the perfect compliment to the original Hyperdrive. When the original is losing it’s punch and can’t kick out the corner pins any longer, that’s when it’s time to pull out the Hyperdrive Pearl. The pearl still requires a good amount of oil to be effective, but it is cleaner through the front part of the lane than its predecessor. The pearl version is about 3-4 feet longer before it starts to pick up and features the same strong but smooth backend motion as the original. This ball fits perfectly between the original Hyperdrive and the Roto Grip Gremlin. For me the Gremlin is 2 to 3 boards less overall hook than the Hyperdrive Pearl. Oh and by the way, this ball is an absolute beauty…talk about shelf appeal!!!
If you are looking for a strong pearl bowling ball, the Roto Grip RST Hyperdrive Pearl is that ball. This big asymmetrical pearl makes a strong move on the back end. It also has enough teeth to gain traction in the oil and not squirt through the breakpoint. I have thrown this on a house shot as well as a 45’ sport pattern and it has performed will on both. The better looks for me was playing up the lanes as opposed to swinging the lane left to right. Go orders your now or give it a try at a matchmaker event.
LANE CONDITION Length: 42' Type:THS - New Bowlero THS Layout: 3 x 5 x 1.25 VLS COMMENTS: Roto Grip RST Hyperdrive Pearl is a great “go-to” pearl ball for medium-length (42') house patterns when you want more length through the front, a strong but controllable mid-lane read, and a clean, angular backend. If you like seeing the ball slide longer and then snap with energy off the spot, this one will be fun. What it does on a 42' house pattern On a 42-foot house pattern (medium oil volume, conventional taper from center lane to outside), the RST Hyperdrive Pearl wants to play from the outside and read the midlane later than a traditional solid. The U-R1 Pearl Reactive Nano Free is special. Expect it to get through the heads with minimal friction, pick up around the breakpoint, and give a fairly defined angular snap to the pocket. Because pearls generally have more skid and a sharper breakpoint, you’ll get a longer skid phase and a quicker, cleaner motion through the pins with the Power Edge Polish similiar to a VEBO with is excellent for carry and for when you need to avoid early hook. My matched speed and revrate gave me super clean length, which made it not as friendly for me. I knocked off the polish with a 1500 pad, added Storm Step 3 Compound and it gave me instant control as of this review. Now this is my 2nd option after my Ion Max/Harsh Reality and Physix Blackout read to early and have difficulty continuing through the pin deck. Mind you I'm playing the track to start and not trying to cover boards while wanting to play where I'm comfortable. Back to the description: Length: Long. The pearl cover helps the ball hold through the heads and delay hooking. Mids: The read is moderate — enough to shape the ball but not mushy. You’ll feel a clear transition from skid to hook. Backend: Defined and angular. The ball doesn’t roll out; it flips with a crisp breakpoint that produces a strong entry angle when you’re in the right lane area. Who this suits: Speed players or higher-rev bowlers who need a ball that will skid longer and then snap — helps keep ball motion from over-reacting in the fronts. Low speed- moderate rev players who like an outside line with a sharp move to the pocket. Bowlers who need a pearl/rescue ball for when their solid balls hook too early or when the lane is starting to transition but still has usable oil. Long, controllable length through the fronts. Clean, angular backend — excellent entry angle and carry. Versatile as a complement to stronger, more solid/continuous balls (Ion Max, Reality). If your bag needs a length-with-flip pearl to complement your heavier rolling balls, the Hyperdrive Pearl is an excellent pick for 42' house patterns. It’s a dependable outside-to-pocket ball that gives confident length and an energetic backend. Rating: 9 - great length and powerful backend; dial in surface for your speed/rev and it becomes a pocket-finding machine. Visit your VIP Proshop today
Roto Grip Hyperdrive Pearl: Ball details: RST performance core + A.I. core technology with the all new U-R1 reactive cover stock finished with Storm Power Edge factory finish. Layout: 3 x 4 ½ x 4 My Specs: Rev rate 420’s, ball speed 15.3 to 15.8 mph off the hand, axis tilt of 16 degrees and axis rotation of 70 degrees, PAP is 3 15/16th up 3/16th. Tested on Pro-lane surface on a 43ft medium volume house pattern and 37ft sport pattern. The new addition to the Roto Grip HP4 line is the next step up in the pearl coverstock revolution. The all new U-R1 pearl cover is a nano-free cover that is still very responsive, more so than prior pearl covers that were “clean” for me. I went with a different than normal layout for me of a 3 x 4 ½ x 4 to add a different look totally in my bags. This layout put the pin about an inch below my ring finger, the CG about 3 inches left of my thumb and the MB mark down left and actually out of the frame in my pictures. The HDP as I refer to it, has been a breath of fresh air when it comes to the midpoint of matches and tournaments. I will either start with my Roto Grip Rock Star or Gremlin and will migrate to the HDP once I see the back ends are getting a touch more carry down and not seeing the seven pins not being kicked out. The HDP rolls like a Cell Pearl from years and years ago for me and has that special quality of being a ball suited for medium to longer sport patterns and Typical House Patterns, aka; THPs. For me the HDP is that middle ball in my 5 ball league bags right now when it comes to reactive choices. Currently I have in my league bag the Roto Star, Storm Equinox Solid, Roto Star AMPED, HDP, and Gremlin with a long pin, to ride along is a fresh OFF WHITE Mix I picked up at a pro shop over the summer and waited for my RG Jester to be retired. Pattern: 42ft House Shot Layout: Dual Angle: 80 x 4 1/4 x 40 2LS: 4.25 x 3 x 6.25 Finish: Box (Power Edge) The Roto Grip RST Hyperdrive Pearl is the latest Asymmetrical Pearl release by SPI. This ball features the RST Block + A.I. Core technology and introduces the U-R1 Pearl reactive cover. This combination ensures optimum energy transfer to drive through the pins with maximum response. Out of the box, I loved how clean it was through the fronts. This ball may go long for some out of the box so don’t be afraid to knock the shine off of it if it’s delaying its response. Overall, this is a great pearl piece to add to the bag if you’re looking for a strong backend motion that doesn’t lose any steam. Trevor Kopas Storm Staff Ambassador Pro Shop Operator #Bigboybowling
The RST HyperDrive Pearl is the latest asymmetric pearl that Roto Grip released. It’s a step up from the Gremlin with a more angular shape. I went in with the thoughts that the ball would be too much ball for me, but I have been pleasantly surprised at how good the ball works for me. I haven’t been this comfortable throwing a big pearl Asym since the original Intense. I can usually use it even on fresh, but it really shines in games 2 and 3 when I need something to get the ball down the lane further. Typically I don’t get a ton of entry angle, but the RST HyperDrive is very angular, to the point that I’ve even managed to throw a few messengers…. And I usually only get 1 of those a year! Layout: 5 x 4 x 2 1/2 My Specs - Speed - 16 mph, Rev Rate - 280. PAP 5 3/4 x 1/2 Up.
The RST Hyperdrive Pearl is a high-performance pearl that’s forgiving, explosive, and versatile. For bowlers with moderate speed and revs, it’s a confidence booster—clean through the front, strong off the spot, and deadly through the pins. Whether you're looking to open up the lane or stay consistent in transition, this ball delivers.
This is definitely one of my favorite pearls. I bowled in the districts yesterday, and my team won for the first time in our high school's history. We received the trophy and are moving onto states next Tuesday. I started off with my equinox solid and then moved onto this ball. Its got such a nice ball reaction and going to drill another one in the future. Thanks Storm for releasing this product!

I wanted an asym that was strong with length and a decent amount of attack angle and board coverage. But more than anything, I wanted a ball that was fun to roll every session on any lane condition. I bowl as a hobby couple times a week and I’d love to maximize my averages, but I want to enjoy the game and not nitpick too much yet. I have a Hammer Raw, which is a decent benchmark with smooth motion, so a step up was much needed. Not planning on buying another ball anytime soon, so the versatility is how I enjoy a ball to the fullest. This ball also allows me to practice parameter control by seeing results of minor adjustments in a wide range (axis, revs, length, speed, loft, etc). As a two hander, these are things that can be used to an advantage if you get a feel for it. After ~6-7 sessions, I’ve magically learned a lot about bowling in general and I’ve gotten better quickly. tldr This ball is super fun and great for my practice and scores.
If bowling was a lottery this would be the Powerball. It’s a winner with its forceful striking power.

This was a great option to use after my 1st game with my other Hyperdrive bowling ball for oily lanes. After using this ball for my 2nd and 3rd game, I was happy about this purchase shooting 230 and 245 games. This will continue to be in my bag.
