The new Apex Solid will give you that much sought out “benchmark” reaction that most bowlers will fall in love with. This ball gave me a simple and easy to control reaction. It is great on the fresher lane patterns. Comparing to the other Swag balls, this reacts similar to the Swag Black Dragon but doesn’t cover as many boards as the Black Dragon does. So if the Black Dragon is hooking too much, this ball will be perfect to throw.

The ball is a great compliment to its shiny brother. This is drilled 60x4x30 and what can I say other than "wow". This ball hits like a truck. With this being a solid cover, this ball reads the lanes a little earlier. The fronts are no problem and the mids are read with ease! This ball has a smooth arcing type shape to it. For me it likes the straighter angles. The Apex Solid is that perfect control piece in which it doesn't try to do too much and you know what its going to do every time it hits the lanes! It reminds me of a urethane type ball with how smooth the reaction is down lane. This ball is great on the fresh and would also make a great transition piece when things start to get a little used up. This ball has great continuation through the pins. Add this to your bag and you will fall in love!
You all rock

This ball is the perfect benchmark ball from Swag. With its out of box 4000 finish, it works extremely well on the outside part of the lane. If you want some more hook, put some surface on the ball and watch it perform from deeper angles. It creates a very predictable motion to the pocket that you can easily read and that can be used on all types of conditions.
This ball for me is the first out the bag. It powers throught the heavy oil and slams the pocket!!! I love how you can slow down with it and keep the pocket from leaving a 7 or 10 pin. YOU NEED THIS BALL!
Love this ball!

This ball is very smooth in the fronts. Still packs a punch down lane, this ball is perfect for fresh conditions if you are having trouble getting the ball to turn down lane

Heavy oil ball with continuation through the pins. I drilled this ball to read the lane earlier than others in my bag and with a lighter backend reaction because a lot of what I have hooks too much in the back. It does exactly that. In the fresh/heavier oil it reads about mid lane and then has a smooth roll down lane to the pocket. This ball plays well during league for me in games 1 and 2. I love the teal color with the bright green logo. Definitely a controllable piece when down lane needs less reaction off the spot.

When I ordered this ball I was hoping for a control piece that would get through fresh oil and still hit like a truck. I wasn't disappointed! I'm 66 years old, throw the ball between 14 1/2 & 15 1/2 mph with a rev rate ~300.
The Apex Solid is a nice control ball with great continuation through the pins. I tend to play outside being a left hander, and going up the boards around the 8 boards, this thing is a beast. It's predictable, medium strong, and versatile if you feel a need to hit it with any kind of surface.
If this is what you're looking for don't sit on this one, it will fill whatever spot you're looking to fill in your bag!!
The way my ball is set up it plays extremely controllable. For me the ball has a very similar reaction as the Brunswick NU

My review on the Swag Apex solid is that this ball is amazing out of box! So let me start off by saying this ball gets dirty. I tried using a ball cleaner that i will not mention and it did not clean the ball well. It seem to leave a film on the ball which changed the ball reaction. I tired sanding the ball on a spinner and the dirt seem not to come out well. What really worked for me was the Magic Eraser which you can probably pick up at your local store or online. Ok getting back to the Apex solid. I've used this ball in numerous tournaments and it has been very consistent! It has a great shape! What I see out of this ball is length with a sharpe movement to the pocket and seems to go slightly forward. I have my Apex solid drilled 60X4.5X30 which i have on most of my symmetrical solids. This ball have great shelf appeal and hits the pocket hard. You can not go wrong with this ball.
This is such a cool looking ball, I haven't been able to throw it yet unfortunately but I does look awesome

Greetings, I have the privilege of representing Swag. I had to lookup benchmark until I got this ball punched out. It comes out of the box 3000 sanded but I ended up putting mine at 2000. I wanted the overall hook to be a little sooner. With that said how does it roll? Well, mine is at 4 1/4 x 20 and it rolls very clean through the heads and then the flip is strong and controllable. A visual would say its heavy. I like the solid color because it makes it very easy to read. I use mine in a lot of tournaments. The reason is because it truly is a tell for what I may use. It also encompasses what I call one of Swags true characteristics. Our equipment tends to respond well to the thrower. So, if you are a high rev player you will love how well the ball responds off the break point and midlane. Me, I like the way I can open the lane up with it on fresh. Compared to the judge it goes into its skid flip transition sooner for me. The cover is versatile enough to be polished but I think this ball shines best when kept sanded.

The Apex Solid is a medium oil ball that is very controllable with a continuous motion at the break point. As a lefty I make minimal adjustments if any to stay in the pocket. if you are looking for a smooth controllable ball this is it
As a two-handed no-thumb bowler, the Apex Solid has become my favorite benchmark ball. It reads the lane early enough to give me a clear midlane reaction, but stays smooth and controllable without being too early or too jumpy. The motion is predictable, rounded, and very easy to trust on fresh conditions. It gives me an honest look at the lane and helps me decide when to ball up or down. For consistency and reliability, this has been one of the best benchmark pieces I’ve thrown.
The Apex soild has a monster backend that destroys the pins!! First out the bag for fresh oil!!
This ball I drilled pin down because I was looking for more snap off the break point on medium oil lanes unlike my Craze solid on short oil lanes and that is what I got with this ball it's still smooth through the oil with a controllable snap off its break point and keeping the power when hitting the pocket with a nice drive through the pocket that's why it made a great addition to my bag.
Drilled 50 X 4.25 X 40
This is what I look for and expect in a a benchmark reaction. The Apex Solid responds to well to surface adjustments and once oil is in the coverstock I saw that the ball got better as it goes. Great compliment to the Apex Pearl. Shot 299 with the Apex Solid and see bigger score in the future.
If you are a high speed two hander or very low rev bowler this ball reads the lane early and gives a smooth tumbling shape. I would describe it as a strong urethane the way it reads the lane. Shot very well during league and is a great ball.
The SWAG Apex Solid is exactly what you’d expect from a brand known for consistency and control — a ball that reads the lane with confidence and delivers a smooth, powerful motion without being overreactive. Out of the box, the Apex Solid’s 3000-grit finish and solid reactive cover give it just the right traction in the oil, making it an excellent choice for fresh to medium-heavy lane conditions. It gets through the heads cleanly, picks up strong in the midlane, and drives through the pins with an even, continuous motion that’s easy to trust.
What makes the Apex Solid stand out is its predictability. The symmetric APX V1 core produces a benchmark-type reaction — strong but not jumpy, smooth yet powerful. It’s the kind of ball that rewards good fundamentals and doesn’t punish minor release mistakes.
If you’re a speed-dominant bowler or someone who prefers a smoother, controlled shape that still packs punch at the pins, the Apex Solid will likely become one of your go-to pieces. It’s not the ball for dry lanes or for bowlers chasing a sharp, angular backend — but for those who want consistent power and dependable reaction, the Apex Solid delivers exactly that.
Bottom line: The SWAG Apex Solid is a benchmark performer that blends predictability and punch. It’s strong without being snappy, smooth without being soft — the kind of reliable motion that keeps you in the pocket and in control.

PAP - 3 3/4” right, 1/2” up; Drilled 50 x 4 x 30
I was bowling on a typical house shot, medium oil. The lane had been used during the day. I’m more speed dominant, throwing about 15.5mph, with a medium rev rate. I typically play down-and-in, targeting between 5 and 15, depending on lane condition.
On this day, I also used the Fusion Hybrid (drilled the same as the Apex Solid) and Fusion Solid (drilled 50 x 3 1/4 x 30).
On this particular shot, the Apex Solid gave me the “slowest” reaction of the three balls, as I needed to reduce my speed more in order to get the reaction I wanted. It tended to react on the early part of the lane, with not much backend - “urethane-ish” in a way. I’d consider that the lack of backend motion could have been due to carry-down or my not being rev/speed balanced. Of the 3 balls, the Apex Solid covered the fewest overall boards.
It was the most controllable reaction of the three, and on this particular shot it may have been better for a higher rev bowler. After I finished bowling I let a two-hander throw it for a few shots on the next lane. I’d describe the look of his shot as “round” and “smooth” - the reaction was both predictable and controllable. It looked super-good in his hands.
I've had the Apex Solid for a couple months now. I find it being very versatile for me. I am a two-handed bowler. I can move right and play up the boards with it or move left and play the lane. Very predictable motion. Very consistent from shot to shot. It is the first ball out of my bag. Highly recommended if your looking for a benchmark ball
Cory G. – SWAG Staff Member
I am a right-handed, thumb-in bowler with a PAP of 5 5/8” over and 1” up, using a 60 x 5 x 30 layout. As a rev-dominant bowler, the Apex Solid is a ball motion I highly recommend for high-friction environments when you need a controllable, urethane-like shape. I always know what kind of motion the Apex Solid is going to provide, and it quickly tells me what the lanes are wanting. I especially recommend this ball for the two-handed or two-finger, no-thumb crowd as a first ball out of the bag. Having spent time bowling two-handed myself, I was always looking for a control piece that offered predictable motion without jumping off the breakpoint—and the Apex Solid fits that role perfectly. The Apex Solid can also be a great first ball out on a fresh house shot for all styles and works exceptionally well on short sport or challenge patterns. This ball gives you the confidence to strike when your opponents are not.

I just had this ball drilled and layed out short pin. It gives a nice look down lane for me it's a good down in ball if you are looking for something with urethane motion this is the ball for it is not urethane but more like urethane on steroids. You can start with this ball as a benchmark or switch to it when the lanes break down either way it is a beautiful piece to have in my bag.
BigLeprachaun Jan 12, 2026
The SWAG Apex Solid is a strong, smooth-rolling ball that gives you great mid-lane read with a controllable, continuous backend. What really stands out with this ball is how stable it is through the front part of the lane. It doesn’t skid too far, and it doesn’t jump off the spot — it just reads the lane early and makes a heavy, smooth move toward the pocket.
This ball is perfect for fresh to medium-heavy oil where you need something that blends the pattern instead of overreacting. The Apex Solid lets you keep your angles tighter and stay in play longer, especially when sharper balls start to get too sideways. It gives you that “set it and trust it” motion that helps you repeat shots and control the pocket.
One of the biggest strengths of the Apex Solid is its versatility. It can be drilled to be more aggressive for higher volume oil, or smoother for benchmark-type control. No matter the layout, it maintains a predictable shape that makes it easy to adjust as the lanes transition.
Paired with something like the Apex Pearl, this ball becomes the foundation of a very strong two-ball combo — the Solid for the fresh and the Pearl for when you need more length and pop down lane.
If you’re looking for a ball that offers strong mid-lane traction, smooth backend motion, and consistent hitting power, the SWAG Apex Solid is an excellent piece to have in your bag
BowlingPro67 Jan 18, 2026
I've pulled this ball out under normal house shot conditions and it's just too much ball. Did a practice session at another Bowling Center and had the proprietor put out a 48 ft flat pattern and this ball chewed through the oil with no problem. Have not even had to take the cover down whatsoever. Doesn't come out of the bag often but it's good to know that if I'm on a heavier pattern this ball will give me a competitive look.
Dante Harvey Jan 20, 2026
The Apex Solid is a true benchmark piece that blends the lane exceptionally well. For my down-and-in style, it provides a clean but confident read through the midlane without jumping off the breakpoint. What really stands out is how smooth and predictable the motion is strong enough to handle fresh oil, yet controlled enough to keep me in play when the pattern starts to blend. The Apex Solid doesn’t overreact to friction or burn up early; instead, it delivers a heavy, continuous roll through the pins that leads to excellent carry. When I need a ball I can trust to read the lane honestly and give me repeatable reaction shot after shot, the Apex Solid is always one of my first choices out of the bag.
I’ve had this ball for a little while now and it’s absolutely phenomenal! Just finished a city tournament and averaged over 220 while using this on rapidly changing conditions. This ball rolls like a mix of a traditional solid and a urethane. It’s very smooth through the fronts and has a very controllable backend. As others were going through multiple balls trying to find a shot that wasn’t too jumpy or too slick, I just gradually moved left and added a little more hand. Even after getting far left and swinging the ball out at the end of the set, the ball remained continuous through the pins. If you’re looking for a very predictable and smooth ball, THIS is what you want! Quickly becoming a staple in the bag!

The Swag Apex Solid is a powerhouse for bowlers looking for a strong, continuous motion and serious pin destruction. From the moment it leaves your hand, the Apex Solid glides cleanly through the fronts with ease, even on heavier oil patterns. What really sets this ball apart is how it transitions downlane—smooth yet aggressive—delivering a hard, forward-driving backend motion that never quits. The continuation through the pins is outstanding, allowing it to keep energy and absolutely shred the rack on impact. Light hits mix, flush shots explode, and the carry is extremely reliable. The Apex Solid gives you confidence to stay aggressive without sacrificing control, making it a great benchmark or go-to ball when you need a strong, predictable reaction. If you want a ball that reads the lane well and finishes with authority, the Swag Apex Solid delivers.

The Apex Solid is a strong piece in my arsenal. If there is oil on the lanes this ball will have no problem digging in and controlling the pocket. For me this ball gives me a urethane shape with more backend. As a 2 handed lefty I prefer the stronger controllable pieces that let me continuously hit the pocket with ease. The Apex Solid is a reliable piece that deserves a spot in any league/tournament bag.
As a one-handed, three-finger bowler, finding a strong, controllable ball is my priority. The Swag Apex Solid has earned its place as my first ball out of the bag. With a #5 layout on the 2LS system, it provides the perfect blend of control and power.
On oily lanes, it digs in reliably without overreacting, giving me a urethane-like shape but with significantly stronger backend continuation. The motion is smooth and predictable through the midlane, transitioning into a hard, driving arc that never seems to quit. The pin carry is exceptional—flush shots explode and light hits still mix remarkably well.
For league or tournament play, it’s a benchmark powerhouse. It reads the lane cleanly and finishes with undeniable authority, giving me the confidence to attack the pocket consistently. A truly reliable and indispensable piece.
The Swag Apex Solid is the strongest symmetrical ball i have ever thrown. This ball for me was less controlled than thought, but significantly more continuous than I thought. I figured it would be a benchmark piece that was easily predictable, and while it has a benchmark shape, its got a much more defined shape than I was expecting. This Apex Solid is so strong that it could get back to the pocket if I threw it out to Florida The core inside this ball is truly something else, I've seen this ball be able to stand up early and give urethane shape when drilled pin down, or absolutely run the 8 pin over with how much continuation it has. This ball is visually appealing in your bag as well as going down the lane. If you are looking to add a strong symmetrical ball to your arsenal, look no further than the Swag Apex Solid.
The Apex Solid has become a very important situational piece in my bag. The motion out of box with a basic layout is already smooth and controllable. But, being a high rev urethane lover, I went with a 50x3 1/4x60 layout. Right handed, the pin is about an inch above my ring finger and the CG pretty much under my middle finger. This has been an experiment that ended up saving me in my most recent tournament. With this layout this already control focused ball and become even smoother. It hooks almost at the arrows and continues in that direction. Not much downlane motion at all, similar to urethane. Then I decided to polish it. It’s still smooth, but now it has about an extra 3 feet of length, clearing the heads and making it usable on house when I want to play straighter or when I run into “purple opponents”. If you haven’t tried this ball, or if you haven’t found success with urethane and need a control piece, THIS ball is what you’ve been looking for.
I'm a right handed bowler with 14.5 - 15.5 ball speed and 320 - 350 Rev rate. I throw 14 lbs. My average is 210. On this ball I did my stacked layout which works out to roughly 70 x 4 x 30. This layout on this ball gives me a really good midlane read and a smooth but continuous motion off of the breakpoint. The Apex solid has been a go to ball for me because it helps cover up some of my inconsistencies. If I slow down it doesn't over jump on me. If I miss right it doesn't see the friction too much and over react. This is one of the best balls I have for controlling the pocket and carries really well for me.

The SWAG Apex Solid was my first 300 throwing SWAG equipment. This ball is the definition of control. The smooth shape and the fact that it hits like a truck makes this ball a staple in my bag. It has the ability to almost mimic a urethane ball while still having a solid cover. I use this as my rescue ball when nothing is going right.
The Swag Apex Solid is a dependable, strong-controlling solid that thrives in heavier oil. From the first shot, it offers a smooth, predictable motion that inspires confidence. The solid coverstock digs in early, providing a strong midlane presence and consistent backend reaction. This makes it a great go-to option when the lanes are stubborn and you need forgiveness without sacrificing power. It reads the oil well and transitions smoothly, giving you control even as patterns break down. What impresses most is its ability to maintain energy through the pins — you’ll notice reliable pocket performance and fewer unexpected skids. Overall, the Apex Solid is a workhorse that delivers punch, consistency, and versatility for bowlers seeking strength and steadiness in challenging conditions.

Recently purchased this ball was on the fence whether I was going to pick it up or not. Drilled it out last weekend. Ball was super smooth smoother than I anticipated for sure but after I got a few games on it it really started to come into form..Very strong rolling ball. Very hard-hitting ball. If you were looking at getting one of these you might want to go ahead and pull the trigger. Pretty darn good choice.
Hope this review was helpful.
Stacked drilling but not overly aggressive layout.

The Apex Solid fits perfectly into a control‑first benchmark slot for players who like to stay square to the lane and read the midlane clearly. For my game (≈500 revs, 14–15 mph), where I typically start around 25–27 and play up 15 or send it to about 10, the Apex Solid at factory box finish gives me a strong, predictable read without forcing me to chase the pattern left too quickly.
At the factory surface, the ball picks up in the midlane with a smooth, heavy roll and very stable continuation. It doesn’t jump when it encounters friction — it stays forward and controlled through the pins. That’s especially valuable on sport shots or tougher house conditions where keeping the breakpoint tight and repeatable is key.
Compared to cleaner hybrids or pearls, the Apex Solid lets me stay straighter longer and control the pocket before transition forces bigger moves. It’s a dependable step up when balls start skidding too far or leaving right‑side pins.
For players who prefer a smooth, readable motion and want to control the lane from a straighter angle, the Apex Solid at box finish is a very reliable benchmark piece.
The APEX Solid in 14 pounds is one of those rare pieces that immediately earns trust because of how naturally it reads the lane. What stands out first is the blend of control and strength: it picks up in the midlane with confidence, never feeling jumpy or unsure, yet still stores enough energy to drive through the pins with authority. For a solid cover, it’s surprisingly versatile. On a typical house shot, it gives you that predictable, early read that keeps you in play all night, but it also has enough backend shape to open your angles when the pattern starts to blend out. The motion is smooth, strong, and continuous—exactly what most league bowlers want when the lanes get a little tighter or when their cleaner pieces start to miss the spot. Even at 14 pounds, the hit is impressive, with a heavy roll that carries light mixers and keeps corners honest. If you’re looking for a reliable benchmark‑style solid that feels comfortable from the first shot, the APEX Solid is an easy ball to like.
I purchased the Swag Apex Solid to replace a ball with similar core numbers and a solid urethane cover from another brand. I used a lower-flaring layout to create a smoother, less aggressive ball shape. I typically do not vary layouts too much and may have been too aggressive in trying to control flare.
After a few games at the box surface of 3000 grit, I changed the surface to 1000 grit, which thankfully gave me the reaction shape I was looking for. Do not be afraid to try a different surface — it can make all the difference.
I see this ball having a spot in my tournament bag to help blend the over/under conditions that can develop as the oil pattern breaks down. I also see myself taking this ball to a new house I’ve never bowled in for its smooth, consistent shape on lesser-known THS pattern.
Swag is at the Apex with the APEX!! This ball is high performance and will hook hook hook! I love using it on fresh oil or house shot first out the bag! Just coming out the bag with box surface will show you the power of the Apex. Slower bowlers will really see the aggressiveness of this ball it has the teeth to eat the front of the lanes and destroy the backend and the pocket leaving you with no doubts of strikes and 300s!! Speed bowlers can throw the Apex with authority and it will also destroy the pocket! If you like to play with the surface of the apex a nice shine will give you alittle more length that you disire. So if your ready to be at the Apex of your game get the SWAG APEX SOLID!!

The Swag Apex Solid has been a true control piece in my arsenal. This super smooth symmetrical solid is built for heavy oil, and it does exactly what i want it to do — read the lane early, control the midlane, and provide a strong, continuous motion through the pins.
What really stands out to me is how well the Apex Solid blends tougher sport shot patterns. When the lanes are tricky and over/under is in play, this ball smooths everything out and keeps me in the pocket. It’s not jumpy or overly angular — it’s predictable and controlled, which is exactly what you need on demanding conditions.
It’s also strong option on typical house shot conditions. Even with built-in friction to the outside, the Apex Solid doesn’t overreact. Instead, it gives a controlled move off the spot and keeps the pins low. That combination of smoothness and continuation makes it very versatile.
