SWAG Black Dragon PAP: 4.5 Over and 1 Up Layout is 30 x 5.25 x 35 I was impressed that even with smaller angles, how smooth this ball was with getting down lane and the strong motion (NOT HOCKEY STICK) that this ball produces. I have not seen a motion since the Hammer Black Widow. The motions is more predictable and defined and the cover stock does not start early and no issues either in fresh or league transition patterns. This evokes confidence in the overall motion. The logo and colors match well and the ball is very versatile.
If you’re looking for something to tackle heavy oil, look no further! This ball is a beast on the lanes. Drilled 65 x 3 5/8 x 25, this ball will dig through the fronts big time. You could say it is a 4x4 on the oil! I have played deeper than I’ve ever played. It stored a ton of energy through the turn and throws pins everywhere! If your looking for a ball with great traction and control on the lanes, then this is the ball!
The Swag Dragon is a really good choice for those looking for a heavy oil ball. This ball gets through the fronts and mids easily. When it sees the friction, it does not over react, and stores a good amount of energy to drive the pins back. This ball is strong and smooth and is very controllable . I cannot wait to get it on some more oil to really see what this thing is capable of! Drilled 40x4x30.
The ball is gorgeous and delery was promoted

This SWAG Black Dragon is the perfect Benchmark ball for me. It’s smooth and continuous. I can use it on heavy oil but I can also stay in it when I have to transition left. It hits the pins hard and is a great choice for a league bowler. I have a lower rev rate but this ball does the work for me. Drilled 45x4x50.
This is the Swag hook monster you have been looking for. The critics said there wasn’t a Swag ball for heavy sport conditions, but now they do.
I love the Dragon. Very continuous through the pins and loves oil!! Keep one in your bag!

The SWAG Bowling Black Dragon is in the Superior Performance Line with a Scorch Solid cover and asymmetric core. It has a 2.53 RG / .050 Diff and is 1500 grit sanded out of box. I drilled this ball 55/4/35 with a PAP of 5 over 7/8 up. This ball was able to play smaller angles on the lane and did not over react in the backend. It read the mid lane well, and hit the pins hard. I was also able to play deeper on the lane (25-30) and swing the ball out and it recovered. A very predictable and versatile ball. The logo is fierce and colors fit the Dragon well.
This is one of the more versatile big solids I’ve used! Best from straighter, I can still get left and keep this ball in the oil and it still have plenty of teeth to flush through the pins!
I was absolutely amazed by the reaction I got out of the Black Dragon the first time it went down the lane. If your looking for a heavy oil control ball, this is the ball for you! When the oil is fresh, it works extremely well playing with tighter angles but the best thing about this ball is the coverstock and core come together to give you a ball that will allow you to move left as the oil begins to transition. The motion it creates on the lane is very predictable and the shape it creates at the breakpoing is very strong and continuous. On a medium volume house shot, I was immediately playing around 3rd arrow and I was easily able to follow the transition left. On a heavier volume house shot, I was able to play tighter angles to start and this ball had no issue churning through the soup. Moving left after the shot opened up was easy with how well this ball sees the mid-lane and reacts at the end of the pattern. What are you waiting for? Get your Black Dragon today and soar above the competition!
If you're serious about bowling, the SWAG Black Dragon is a no-brainer! I drilled my Black Dragon 60 x 5-3/8 x 40. I'm a higher rev-rate bowler and this ball provides consistent and powerful backend reaction, unlike anything I've experienced. The versatility of this ball is another highlight—it performs beautifully across various oil patterns, making it reliable for league play and tournaments alike. Whether I’m adjusting to medium or heavier lanes, it just keeps me in the pocket with unmatched precision.
Was right on time and is Rolling Great!! Almost every game is over 200.

The Black Dragon is what bowlers are looking for out of a mid-high tier asym bowling ball. Mine is drilled 60 x 4-1/2 x 30 and shot a 754 in league on wood lanes where high average is 205 and previous high series was 707. On lanes where transition happens fast and usually requires ball changes, the Black Dragon allowed me to keep moving left all night. Started the night standing 27, 15 at arrows and 8-10 at the break point, and finished standing 38, hitting 20 at the arrows. I got a predictable motion off the spot on my good shots, while getting the hold and finish of misses inside. Shots outside picked up earlier, but didnt hockey stick left off the spot. If you want a versitale asym ball that gives you miss room, this should be a ball you consider.
PAP - 4 3/4” right, 1/2” up DAS - 50 x 5 x 30 I threw on a typical house shot, medium oil, about 42”. I’m more speed dominant, throwing about 15.5mph, with a medium rev rate. I typically play down-and-in, targeting between 5 and 15, depending on lane condition. The ball read earlier than I had expected given it was a fresh shot and the ball was drilled to go longer for me relative to my rev rate and speed. As long as I kept my speed in-check, threw over 10, the ball just walked into the pocket. It rolled in a smooth arc for me, not angular, although it finished with a nice bite right before it hit the pins. Given how early it read for me and the drilling pattern, it seems that for me, this ball would be best for heavier oil. If you had more revs, this ball should be very adaptable to playing deeper, and give you a smooth, controllable, predictable motion to the pins.
Buckle up because this ball is an eye opener! As a HUGE fan of the SWAG Big Bro line, I was anxiously looking forward to the Black Dragon. I have loved how the Dominance core has rolled for me in the past and looked forward to what this new ball would do, with the core now being named the Dragon core. The new coverstock was the only real concern I had, seeing as how this was one of the first attempts from the new ownership to relaunch the brand in their identity. Would the coverstock match the core well? Too strong/weak? I was cautiously anxious to find out and the very first roll answered way more questions than I expected! First things first, I drilled the ball pin above my bridge, 60* x 5" x 30*, which is what I had previously used on almost all of my Big Bro balls, the Assemble being the only exception. My trios league has a challenge shot with medium conditions, so I started practice with the Dragon to see what it would do from my normal starting spot: feet on 24, crossing 16 at the arrows out to 7 at the break point. Now I've thrown a ton of new balls over the years. Some started out lazy at first until I got lined up and got them broken in and some I took to liking fairly quickly. I immediately fell IN LOVE with the Dragon! First pitch was a loud and powerful 10 in the pit! I wasn't even warmed up yet! What really caught my attention was how smooth and predictable this ball was. Just roll it off your hand and go sit down. Strong midlane read, doesn't burn up, no matter how far left I had to go. Noticeably left fewer corner pins, which are more than rampant in this house. Even so, when I did leave one, a minor adjustment got me back to the path of letting this ball roar! First impressions have me in a honeymoon phase I hope never ends. Time will tell of course but I am about 7 games in with it now and it keeps flexing its muscle. Had to bowl on senior league burn followed by open bowlers last night because the lane machine was broken. I finished the night striking out with my feet on 38, crossing the arrows around 27 out to the 7 board and just watching the ball destroy rack after rack. I was not ready for the night to end and kept replaying how easy it was to repeat shots in a part of the lane I typically don't play much on my drive home. I am absolutely in love with this ball and I cannot recommend it enough. If you want something with a strong midlane, consistent reaction and predictable shape from anywhere on the lane, you cannot go wrong with this ball. I SO want a hybrid and a pearl now.
So I decided to wait to write this review until I've bowled with it in a few different houses, with different lane types (wood and synthetic). 2 Handed bowler, right around 15mph speed. Have the ball drilled with 2.5 inch pin placement so it blends more. Ball is very smooth and controllable, lets you play that "in" shot without it checking through the nose. If you miss out ,this ball will not hockey stick on you, but will still grab the friction and turn into the pocket. Would say out of almost all my asym balls i've ever thrown this has the most forgiveness. On dryer conditions I have been able to move left play deeper and ball still is very rollable and never just takes off on you. If you're looking for a new benchmark ball, pick this one up and you will not be dissapointed.
Rev Rate: 475 Speed: 18.5 Drilled: 55x4 1/2x40 I am astonished at how continuous this ball is off the end of the pattern. Most Asym solids lose their motion as the night goes on for me, but not the Dragon. The deeper i get the better it gets, without losing any drive through the pins. If you are looking for a bowling ball for heavier oil conditions that is going to read the midlane and get through to the end of the pattern without using too much energy the Dragon is for you. Not only will this ball be in my bag for league night, but you can bet it will be in the tournament bag at all stops.
This ball is amazing. It’s good on short patterns when you need a ball to roll sooner or cuts through the mud when you need performance. Can’t recommend enough!!!
Ball is very good and continuous. Very pleased with this ball, specially since its my introduction into Swag bowling equipment. Hits like a freight train and runs through the pins. If your a high rev bowler you'll def want to be left of 25 with this ball. So far between the Unreal and the Black Dragon, Swag is defiantly proving to the community that they aren't playing around. Personal Stats: Throw: Right, Avg: 205, Rev: 495 RPMs, PAP: 4 7/8 in out, 1 in up
This ball is so smooth and strong, when it makes its move it powers through the pins

I got this ball, and had it drilled pin down (70x5x65) and I am glad I did. It kept the backend tamed for me and extremely smooth through the pocket. This ball is a must have if you are looking for a mid-level asym piece.

The ball hooks nicely. It’s a nice ball. I got it drilled pin up and the pin action is beautiful. I think I was just on an off day because every time I hit pocket the 9 was left but aside from that, incredible. See me on a good day with that, easily 260

The swag black dragon is a very strong & powerful ball and is very clean through the pins. I play down & in normally with this ball I could stand at the 23 board and go out to the 10 board at the arrows and hit the pocket and strike I could even use the 13 board at the arrows and still have a pocket strike .This ball loves the oil.i was on the sport shot pattern called the edge so it wasn’t the normal house shot pattern this pattern is a high difficulty pattern and the dragon made it look like a house shot. The ball driller made the comment this is a very good ball as he was drilling it. The dragon absolutely tears everything up it definitely has a spot in my bag and will be a great tournament ball
Ball is a great addition to my arsenal and I look forward to maybe a Black Dragon Pearl. Lol

I didn't need another "big" ball with my current arsenal. I love my Swag Big Bro Big Guns, but that Dragon logo was too cool to pass up. I drilled my Dragon 60 x 4" x 45 which is my typical asymmetrical drilling. Out of the box, this ball hooked early and often. On a fresh house shot, I had to start around 42. I'm a little rev dominant. I hit the ball with a rubbing compound to get back to the right a little bit. I can use this ball in league, but it really shines anytime the lanes have more oil on them. My only complaint is that I don't bowl more tournaments to use the ball more often. I pull it out game 1 of league just to throw it because I love the motion I get out of this ball. The Dragon starts early, but it keeps hooking. The continuation of this ball is remarkable. It has probably been about 15 years since a strong ball has matched up this good for me.
I haven’t got it drilled yet but this ball by all the videos I seen on Luke Rosdahl YouTube show, it shows this ball as great value, & great price.

Layout: 4x4x2 Surface: 1500 grit sanded Style: Speed-Dominant Stroker Ball Speed: 15.4 mph Rev Rate: ~310–330 PAP: 4 3/8" right, 5/8" up --- First Impressions: The SWAG Black Dragon is an aggressive asymmetrical solid that brings early read and predictable traction to the table. Out of the box, this ball looked like a beast—and it absolutely is. Once I hit it with 1500 grit, it turned into a reliable control piece that’s strong without being jumpy. --- On the Lanes: I put this ball to work on a high-friction house shot, and it instantly filled the role I needed—early read, smooth arc, and consistent pocket entry. Compared to my other pieces, the Black Dragon digs in early but never overreacts. It doesn't quit in the mids, and it gives me just enough movement off the backend to carry even when I'm a little fast off the hand. With the 4x4x2 layout, I get controlled flare and mid-lane motion that suits my game perfectly. It lets me stay right, play more straight, and trust the lane without forcing anything. --- Strengths: Mid-lane control: Reads early and stays strong through the midlane. Smooth arc: No surprises—this ball shapes up and rolls heavy with purpose. Predictable motion: Ideal for speed-dominant players who want to control the front part of the lane without sacrificing carry. Excellent for high-friction or fresh house shots. --- Comparison: It fits right between my Unreal (sym solid) and the Archive Unlimited (asym hybrid). While the Unreal gives me a smoother arc and the Archive pushes a bit more, the Black Dragon gives me the most control off the spot. It’s not angular, but it packs a punch when it hits the pocket. If the Unreal is too soft and the Archive too sharp, the Dragon bridges the gap perfectly. --- Final Thoughts: The Black Dragon is a workhorse in my bag. It’s not flashy, but it’s dependable—and for my style, that’s everything. If you’re a speed-dominant or low-rev player who needs a ball to control the midlane and set up your transition game, this is your dragon to ride.
This is definitely become my favorite all time ball and it is a must have in your bag. Very versatile and forgiving.
Since my last review, I've dropped to 14 lbs, and my 14 was drilled a bit differently: 50 x 4 1/4 x 30 It's a pretty remarkable difference from the 50x5x30. As expected with the shorter PAP in the 14 lb, the ball has an earlier break point, and for me that has worked MUCH better with my tendency to be more speed dominant. It rolls consistently, and gives that predictable reaction we all love.
Left-handed bowler. This is a great bowling ball it complements the Unreal very well. It is a great 1 2 punch. I like how forgiving the ball is on the lanes. I do use this ball during transition in the second game. This ball is going to be in my bags for a very long time.
Swag Black Dragon great ball for bridging the gap between versatility and power better than most”, noting its reliability for transition phases
Here's why the Swag Dragon Bowling Ball Deserves a Spot in Your Arsenal In a world of cookie-cutter bowling balls, the Swag Dragon roars onto the scene with unapologetic power and precision. Whether you're a league regular or a weekend warrior, this ball isn’t just another flashy addition—it’s a game-changer. What sets the Swag Dragon apart is its Dragon Asymmetrical Core, a marvel of engineering that delivers a strong, consistent backend reaction. With a 2.48 RG and a .054 differential, it’s built to read the lane early and finish with authority. Paired with the Scorch reactive coverstock, this ball thrives in medium to heavy oil conditions, giving bowlers the confidence to stay aggressive without sacrificing control. But it’s not just about numbers—it’s about feel. The Swag Dragon offers a rare blend of predictability and punch, making it ideal for speed-dominant players who often struggle to find a ball that can keep up. And for rev-heavy bowlers? The core’s design mimics the shape of symmetrical cores while maintaining a higher intermediate differential, solving the dreaded “too much forward roll” issue that plagues many asymmetrics. Visually, it’s a stunner. The black-and-red colorway and bold Dragon logo make a statement before you even hit the approach. It’s not just a ball—it’s a vibe. In short, the Swag Dragon isn’t just a great option—it’s a smart investment for bowlers who want versatility, power, and style in one fierce package. It’s the kind of ball that earns its place as your go-to, not just your backup. Ready to add it to your lineup? You can find the Swag Dragon available through Buddies Pro Shop, BowlersMart.com,or directly from Swag Bowling official site. As a speed dominate lefty, I love this ball. Layout at 50x4.5x30 it reads early and continues smoothly through the mid lane with a nasty backend! I have mine at 1000 grit finish, that is the sweet spot which gives me the consistent reaction that I need. I can use it on the fresh or on the burn without having to make any major adjustments if your looking for a ball that is smooth and predictable, the Black Dragon os definitely the you might want to consider adding to your arsenal
I absolutely love this ball because of how strong it is when it hits the pins. I throw low 16mph- mid 17mph and this ball grab and ROLLS. I don’t have deflection issues with this ball. I use mine on house shots and modified sport patterns.
A strong heavy roller unleashes a fiery backend and drives hard
The Dragon is a big, asymmetrical ball that complements the Judge very well. Quite a bit cleaner through the heads, the Dragon makes a very quick and strong direction change when it finds friction. Despite that, though, the Dragon does not overly jack knife and still retains a controllable shape with strong backend continuation through the pins. Similar to the Judge, it is a very versatile ball for how strong it is, but definitely has a slight decrease in board coverage and strength in the cover, making it a great piece for rev dominant players. The Dragon comes out of box at 1500 sanded, for a relatively smooth motion. However, if you really want to see this ball come to life, hitting it with higher grit or polish and giving it a bit of shine really leans into the shape complements. Hitting it with lower grit sanding will smooth it further to start, but as it lane shines, it will stabilize and settle into a very solid 2-ball slot.
The SWAG Black Dragon is an outstanding ball. For me, it is an early in the block piece because of its strength, but with a slight hand adjustment and some targeting changes I can go for a few more frames with it than some of my other equipment. My drilling is 35 x 5 1/8 x 70 and gives me the ability to make some adjustments early or late in blocks to get the shape I need. All of the NEW SWAG equipment is great and certainly belongs in consideration for your bag. To me, the Black Dragon gives you that extra firepower you may need if the lanes are loaded, but if you think because it’s Swag it isn’t worthy of a spot in your bag or on the rack you need to do yourself a favor and give it a try. I am sure you will be pleasantly surprised.
Black Dragon Pre drilled Weight: 15lb 3oz Top: 3.7oz Pin: 3.5” 1500 Grit Sanded Specs RG: 2.490 Diff: .052 MB: .019 Layout: 30 x 41/8 x 30 Greetings, I have the privilege of representing Swag. This will be part 1 of a 2-part review for the Swag Black Dragon. On paper this was designed to be one of the strongest balls in our newly revamped and designed arsenal. After throwing it I think this one rules them all. It read the heads cleanly and the out of box 1500 grit sanding gave it some bite on the back end. Another very continuous ball when it hits the pocket so do not expect the ball to deflect a lot. For an asymmetrical piece you can swing this one quite a bit. It has a little more versatility than what I was expecting. I drilled this for a mega roll event so I will be revisiting this one after that to see if it performs the same way. Fair warning, if you put a drilling like the one I have it will flare over the label. Do not be alarmed. Even when that happens it still doesn’t slow the drive of the ball. But if you are looking for an asymmetrical that is designed for heavier volumes of oil and you like the what I call the “hockey stick” motion grab this ball. Keep a rubber shammer on hand from bowlersmart.com. The cover is tweakable, before I knew it, it was starting to get a lane shine on it. The more shots I threw the more I could cheat left and the more room I could give it. It’s always fun to shape the lane this was punched for a mega roll event. So be on the lookout for my more detailed review after that tournament when this has truly been tested what it was drilled for. Until then, your best friend’s favorite staffer Swaggy CB is out for now… Part 2. The Dragon is probably my favorite ball in our current line right now. It is strong like the Judge but has more of skid flip motion to it. The breakpoint is clearly more defined. The cover is versatile enough to play different angles based on the condition. I was fortunate enough to try this on a fresh reverse block. I could play up the boards and it would clear the heads cleanly with a very defined snap. I could move left as the day went on and bend the lane with a hokey stick motion. This ball is great to start with and play a multitude of angles.

Not really reliable as advertised. One game maybe depending on oil conditions.

Got this as my first bowling ball. Not a bad price for a decent quality reactive ball and been very happy with its performance. As I have just got started into bowling and having more of a stroker style the stronger cover stock does hook pretty strongly in fresh conditions. It doesn't seem to do as well once the lane has broken down a lot but I am sure its partially my technique and where I am starting from more than the ball. I'm also a sucker for Dragons. It has a Dragon on it and says "DRAGON" on the ball! What more could you want!

The SWAG Black Dragon has quickly become one of my go-to pieces when I need control and confidence on the lanes. As someone who bowls a mix of competitive league and regional events, I’m always on the hunt for a ball that gives me a strong, readable motion without being unpredictable—and this ball nails it. Ball Motion & Performance: What stands out most about the Black Dragon is how effortlessly it reads the midlane. It’s not a ball that squirts past the breakpoint or struggles to get into a roll—this thing picks up early and stays in control. That early read allows me to trust it on tougher conditions, especially when the front part of the lane starts to get a little tighter or the pattern is flatter. Despite that strong midlane presence, the energy it stores for the pocket is impressive. It doesn’t quit early, and it drives through the pins with power, but without the snappy, unpredictable backend that some stronger asymmetrics can have. There’s a smoothness to the backend motion that gives me a really clean and continuous shape. I’m not seeing that quick jump or hockey-stick motion—just a confident, steady move that’s easy to line up with. Control Without Over-Under: One of my biggest issues with some asym balls is the dreaded over-under reaction—either it checks too early and burns up or it pushes too far and comes in light. With the Black Dragon, I’m not seeing any of that. The ball motion is incredibly consistent across a range of conditions. Whether I’m on a fresh house shot or a 43’ or 45’ sport pattern, I can trust this ball to do what I expect. Ideal Use & Lane Play: This ball shines when I want to play a little straighter or stay more up the lane on medium to heavy oil. I’ve had great success keeping my angles tighter and letting the ball do the work in the midlane without having to manufacture motion. When other balls want to jump or check too hard off the spot, the Black Dragon gives me a calm, confident shape that blends out those wet-dry patterns. Final Take: If you’re a competitive bowler looking for something that reads early, stores energy, and gives you a smooth, predictable shape, the SWAG Black Dragon is absolutely worth a look. It’s a true benchmark asymmetric in my bag for tougher conditions, and I can’t say enough about how clean and versatile the motion is. For anyone who likes to stay in front of the ball and let the lane come to them, this one’s a gem. Bowler Stats: RH, 340ish Revs, 16.5 mph ball speed avg.
Love this bowling ball. Love the look and design. Very clean though the front on the lanes.

Ball and style are nice, the artwork is great, and while I received a 14 lb. ball rather than the 15 lb. ball I ordered, the difference isn't really a factor when I bowl, in fact it hits the pockets strong and is a 5-star ball.

I drilled this ball 60x4.25x40. I bought this ball with the plan on using on the fresh and early transition; however, I have found this ball to be very versatile and allow me to stay in it longer than I expected too. This ball allows me to use straight line strategies on the fresh and can move left and play a curve line strategies when needed, it handles surface adjustment very well. On sport shots this ball is a monster for me. With some surface it will allow me to attack the pocket from multiple angles on the lanes. Must have ball for heavy oil on sport shots and on a fresh house shot.

What stands out most about the Black Dragon Solid is its blend of power and control. The ball digs in hard through the mid-lane, creating a steady, continuous shape that’s easy to trust on tougher patterns. It’s strong enough to handle volume but smooth enough to keep you out of trouble when the lanes get tricky.
My Swag Dragon Solid, drilled 60×4½×35, gives me exactly what I wanted—strength with control. This layout lets the ball read the mid-lane with confidence while staying smooth and predictable off the spot. Even with its controllable motion, the Dragon still hits with a ton of power and drive through the pins, making it a reliable, heavy-rolling piece in my lineup.
Just put holes in mine last night, 256 out of the box. Hit hard. I’m a 175 avg league bowler. Was strong in fresh.
What a powerhouse Swag has created with this one massive power for sure.
This is a great solid when I can’t get others to move this one never fails me I have it drilled pin down and it rolls smooth and moves great
The dragon solid is an agressive aysym that will read the mids like a beast and still hold motion in the backend. I anything on the heavier side of oil i let this bad boy breath fire on the lanes. Hits like a tank and has more control than i anticipated! 25/10 highly recommend.
When I got the Black Dragon Solid, it completely changed my game. Right away, I noticed how much better the motion was for me, both left to right and forward to back. The ball reads the mid-lane extremely well, giving me a smooth, predictable reaction where I need it most. What really stands out is how strong and consistent it turns over on the back end, helping me carry shots with confidence. No matter the lane condition, this ball has proven to be very usable for my style, which makes it incredibly reliable. Whether the lanes are fresh or breaking down, the Black Dragon Solid gives me control, motion, and confidence every time I step up to the approach.
The black dragon is the ultimate combination of control and hook combined with hitting power. It goes through the heads easily, even when they are toasty, and reads the mids very well. When it hits the pins there is no pin left standing. I went with a rather mellow drilling and was pleasantly surprised how angular it was when fresh out of the box. Now that I have some lane oil on it I always take it out the bag first to judge whether I need to ball up for a bit more oil or if I need to ball down to my craze hybrid for a bit more length in the fronts. I strongly recommend getting at least 1 of these in your bag and have a backup for when you need it.
This was the first of the newer Swag releases that I added to my arsenal. And I can say I'm glad I did. I'm a senior bowler, roll 14 lbs, and usually stick with stacked releases. The black dragon gives me the ability to play outside and up the boards when the lanes are a little bit slicker and when transition hits I can move to the inside with no problem and still have a very controllable backend reaction. Several people in my leagues like what they see with this ball and have even started yelling SWAG! when I'm on a string of strikes. This ball has also worked well for me in tournament play on a bit tougher lane conditions also. I highly recommend senior bowlers add this to their arsenal if they can.
My performance with the SWAG Black Dragon Solid has been nothing short of impressive. This ball gives me the strong, predictable midlane read I need, especially on medium to heavier oil. It starts up early without burning up and delivers a smooth, continuous motion through the pins. What really stands out is the control—misses right don’t overreact, and tugged shots still hold line. With my 15 mph speed and 350 rev rate, the Black Dragon Solid lets me stay aggressive while keeping scores in play. Carry has been excellent, with strong pin action and minimal deflection. When consistency matters and I need to build confidence early in a set, this ball flat-out shows up and does the work. Reliable, strong, and trustworthy—exactly what a benchmark solid should be.
The Black Dragon is a true spectacle, boasting exceptional control and hook potential that guarantees a forceful strike with each roll. Its ability to conquer challenging lanes is unrivaled, effortlessly slicing through oil while offering an impressive mid-lane read. This ball's adaptability shines through, showcasing a consistent angularity post-drilling that seamlessly adjusts to different lane conditions. Whether fine-tuning for oil patterns or seeking optimal length, the Black Dragon consistently performs at the top of its game. A must-have for any serious bowler, the Black Dragon is a complete game-changer that elevates your bowling experience to new heights.
Black Dragon solid has quickly become my first ball out of the bag. With a smooth and controllable backend motion it is a great “benchmark ball” for me. This ball will give you dependable and consistent motion that will allow you to control and read the lanes. I have used it on sport shots and house shots, and the motion stays true The surface holds up well and does not “lane shine” real fast. Since throwing the Black Dragon Solid, I have noticed it does not deflect when it enters the pocket, it continues through the pins really good and has great hitting power. I used more of a controlled layout, and it was exactly what I was looking for in a ball. The shelf appeal is by far one of the best.
The Swag Black Dragon is a great ball with a solid coverstock that excels at controlling the lane. It provides a smooth, predictable arc that reads the midlane very well, making it a strong choice on fresh oil or when you need something to help blend out the pattern later in the game. With the **55 × 4 × 35** layout I used, the ball picked up early enough to be stable but never felt lazy downlane. The motion was smooth and continuous, giving me confidence to stay in play and keep my angles in front of me without worrying about overreaction. Overall, the Swag Black Dragon is a reliable piece for bowlers who value control and consistency. Whether you’re starting on the fresh or looking to smooth out a tricky transition, this ball does exactly what it’s designed to do.

There was a lot of hype around this ball and what it could do on the lane. I believed the hype and bought into it and finally got myself one. Even knowing how good this ball was I was still absolutely BLOWN AWAY at its down right disrespectful motion and how hard this ball hits the pocket. I mean seriously this ball should come with a warning label telling you your entire bowling center will be envious and lost for words at the raw power you now hold in your hands. Pick yours up today and join the bowling revolution with SWAG and dominate the lanes!
The Black Dragon Solid is straight up heavy roll energy. When I need something that reads the lane early and tells me exactly what’s in front of me, this is the one. No guessing. No over-under. Just strong, controlled motion from the midlane forward. This ball doesn’t float through the heads — it digs in. You can feel it pick up in the oil and start that forward roll that keeps everything tight to the pocket. It’s not a wild flip ball. It’s that strong arc that keeps the pins low and the pocket honest. On fresh conditions? It’s a tone-setter. On sport shots? It blends the pattern and keeps me in play. What I love most is the continuation. Even though it reads early, it doesn’t quit. It keeps driving through the deck. Those flat 10s? They turn into messengers when I roll it the right way. If I’m bowling on something heavier or I need control before transition kicks in, Dragon Solid is coming out first. It’s strong. It’s smooth. It’s predictable. And when I need the lane to calm down and let me control it? I let the Dragon eat.
The Black Dragon Solid definitely surprised me. I went with a 65x4x30 layout. Out of box it didn’t look as dull as one would expect with a 1500 grit finish. However, it has amazing traction with energy left for some shape on the backend. I wouldn’t describe this ball as “chuggy” or slow like most big asymmetrical balls are. It’s cleaner than the Judge, but handled the 50ft “Warhawk” pattern very well even with a bit of lane shine. This ball is easily the only “big ball” a high rev bowler would need. I’d also recommend this ball for speed dominant bowlers who see a decent amount of oil. I usually start league around 25-27 with my feet, this ball made it all the way to about 33-34 without burning up and leaving corner pins. And it still shaped down lane! Such a versatile piece, I’d recommend it to just about any serious bowler. You WONT be disappointed.
As a bowler, the first thing I noticed about the Swag Black Dragon is how confident it feels off the hand. It doesn’t jump early or feel lazy — it reads the lane with purpose. On fresh oil, especially medium to heavier conditions, this ball gives me that strong mid-lane read I look for when I want control without sacrificing backend motion. What I really like is how it blends the pattern. When I miss a little right, it recovers. When I tug it slightly inside, it doesn’t overreact and burn up. It keeps its shape and continues through the pins instead of rolling out. That continuation is what separates it from a lot of other strong pieces — it drives through the 8 and 9 instead of deflecting. As transition starts, I can move left, open up my angles, and trust that it’s still going to pick up in the mid-lane and make a strong, continuous move downlane. It’s not overly sharp or uncontrollable; it’s a heavy, confident motion that keeps the pins low. For me, the Black Dragon is the ball I grab when I want to control the pocket early in the set and build confidence. It gives me forgiveness, strong carry, and that powerful look that tells you it’s going to strike before it even hits the pocket. If you’re a bowler who likes seeing the ball read the lane strong and finish with authority, the Swag Black Dragon absolutely delivers.
The Black Dragon Solid from SWAG was the first ball I drilled after the SWAG rebrand, and it instantly made an impact. From the first set, I could tell this was a true benchmark piece. My scores backed it up too I shot multiple high series with it and saw my average climb, especially during tournament play. What makes this ball stand out is how well it reads the lane. It gives you that clean, defined midlane read with a strong but controlled continuation through the pins. It’s not overly aggressive, but it’s never lazy either. It plays exactly as the lanes give it. On the fresh, it reads early enough to keep you in control, and as transition happens, it adjusts naturally without forcing you to make huge moves. This ball is predictable in the best way possible. It tells you what the pattern is doing and responds the right way when you move your feet or change your hand position. That’s what you want in a benchmark something you can start league or tournaments with and trust. The Black Dragon Solid is reliable, versatile, and tournament proven. It’s a must-have foundation piece in any serious arsenal.

The Swag Black Dragon Solid is an absolute oil monster. I’ve thrown this ball on just about everything, and one thing is consistent — it hooks. If there’s oil on the lane, this ball is going to find a way to dig in and make the turn. When everyone else is struggling to find traction or even hit the pocket, This is the ball I pull out when the lanes are flooded and I need something I can trust to create shape without overthinking it.
