How to Build a Bowling Ball Arsenal
A well-built bowling ball arsenal covers the full spectrum of lane conditions you'll encounter in league and tournament play. The goal is to have a ball for every situation — from fresh heavy oil to dried-out backends.
Most competitive bowlers carry 3 to 5 balls. A solid starting point is one ball for heavy oil (strong reactive solid), one for medium conditions (versatile hybrid or pearl), and one for dry lanes or spares (urethane or polyester). From there, add balls to fill gaps based on the conditions you see most often.
