Storm has created some of the greatest benchmark pieces in industry history and now they are reinventing that benchmark. The Phaze II and !Q Tour have been staples for many years and have stood the test of time because of their amazing versatility. Storm is now introducing the new Ion Pro. The Ion Pro features a hybrid version of the Tx-16 cover featured on the Phaze II wrapped around a new Assym core called Element Tour A.I. The Element Tour A.I. has a diff number closer to the IQ range so you get the tour shape, with a great cover to give it a little more power.
I tested the Ion Pro on a freshly conditioned lane which had sat for a few hours. I lined up where I would expect to throw my Phaze II, expecting that I would move right to compensate for the weaker core. Instead I watch the Ion split the 8-9. Surprised I tried changing my angle through the front a few different ways to see how the ball responded. When I pushed the ball further right, the Ion Pro had no issues getting back. On the 12 to 1 house pattern most things will recover on shots missed right. The biggest surprise came next when I intentionally pulled the ball into the soup just inside the track and watching it recover and split the 8-9 again. After throwing a dozen or so more shots intentionally changing up my angles and speed to see how the ball reacted I began to wonder if I had misjudged the lane condition so I brought out my Phaze II, threw it on the same line I had started on and saw exactly what I expected. It was a bit smoother motion but an identical line to the Ion Pro. I then closed the angle to get the Phaze II into the heavier oil zone, watched it hit the same spot the Ion Pro had come off of, and leave the bucket.
I'm probably the biggest cheerleader for the Phaze II ever, (except maybe Verity Crawley) and I never thought I would see a ball compete for the benchmark spot in my bag. This Ion Pro isn't just hype it's the real deal.
I also decided to see how it would respond if I got in deep and tried to slow hook it. The deep inside line is usually where my Phaze II goes out of play. Ion Pro has so much continuation that even though the difference in shape was imperceptible, the ball had no issues going through the pins no matter how deep I got.
I would recommend this ball to literally everyone. A statement I've only ever made about the phaze II but can happily add here is everyone should have this ball in their bag.

The new Ion Pro brings new technology in terms of core shape, dynamics and ball motion that hasn't been seen in the Storm lineup. The low rg of 2.47 and medium differential of .035 and PSA of 0.014 gives a new meaning to the word benchmark. Typically, we don't see asymmetrical balls considered "benchmarks" as they tend to be more responsive to friction making them not as readable as a symmetrical version. The Ion Pro changes that entirely. The Ion Pro at 4000 abralon finish gives easy length through the front part of the line but the core allows the ball to read the midlane well and have a nice continuation in the backend through the pins. I found this ball to be very predictable while still giving me enough shape to actually play the lanes both straight and left to right as the lanes broke down which isn't typical for a benchmark type ball.
I was able to try this ball out on a 37ft sport pattern with medium volume. What I saw from the Ion Pro was the ability to attack the lanes several ways. The lower differential gave me that ability to play the lanes straighter on the fresh without giving up the continuation but also gave me the ability to play left to right if I saw a better option because of the hybrid coverstock. I found a ton of versatility that this ball can provide. At the factory 4000 finish, I found a little too much length for my style to be most effective for me. A quick surface change to 2000 abralon gave me a stronger and earlier motion that I like to see for my style. The 2000 finish allowed me to still play straighter while not having to be as close to the friction spot. The extra surface also allowed me to play left to right with ease as the pattern started to breakdown. Being in the Northeast, I see a lot of older lane surfaces with a lot of built in friction. The Ion Pro is clean enough to handle the extra friction while maintaining the control you look for in a benchmark ball. I can honestly see myself having this ball in the arsenal quite often especially on sport patterns. Compared to the Phaze 2, I saw a lot more length but a slightly stronger backend and compared to an IQ Tour, I saw stronger overall ball motion that read the lane a few feet sooner overall. I can see myself bringing both the Phaze 2 and the Ion Pro within the same arsenal as they can play off each other well. This ball will be able to fit most styles and lane conditions of all sorts.

Storm's New Benchmark Ball, the Ion Pro, is everything you want it to be. The Ion Pro fits perfectly between the IQ Tour and the Phaze II just like the advertising states. For me this ball starts up strong in the midlane and continues through the pins with power. I'm excited to see how this ball rolls with some lane shine. This is will my go to ball on medium patterns to feel out the lanes.

Best ball I’ve purchased by far.. I’m an average 180 bowler, I bowled 4 straight 200+ games on this freshly drilled ball..

Well my bowling family...It's coming! The release date is 6-21-24. The new Storm benchmark bowling ball. The ION Pro! I received this ball, got to throw it a few times. I'm pretty happy with it. Out of the box finish, I left it how it came. TX-16 Hybrid Reactive Cover stock, this is a asymmetric ball, with a A.I. Core. People who like the IQ Tour or the Phase II...here you go. It rolls so good, I love the color, and the reaction. I can't wait to try it on different lane conditions. This is the first asymmetric benchmark ball ever designed by Storm Bowling and will be the new standard of reliability.
The Ion Pro is the latest and greatest benchmark type category ball that is released by Storm adding to the success of the Phaze 2 and iQ Tour. The Ion Pro features the all new Element Tour AI core that yields an RG of 2.47, diff of 0.035 and PSA of 0.014 and is wrapped around the TX-16 Hybrid cover stock. I drilled mine 5 x 5 x 4.5 which is also the same drilling I have in my Phaze 2 and iQ Tour. My first impression in throwing this ball was that is like the best of both balls for me. I naturally have the iQ Tour a little cleaner for a solid and I have the Phaze 2 a little more angular on the back and stronger overall hook. The Ion Pro sits directly between the too because for me the first half of it going down the lane reminds me of an Tour but the back half reminds me of a Phaze 2. I believe high rev players going to love this ball mostly because of the forgiveness of it and I can see it being great on the fresh or right after the Phaze 2.

The Ion Pro takes the idea of benchmark ball to the next level. The combination of the brand new TX-16 hybrid coverstock, that was derived from the Phaze II, along with the brand new Element Tour A.I. asymmetric core redefines the expectations of a reliable, stable, and versatile ball. The Ion Pro was specifically designed to allow bowlers of any style to play multiple angles on a variety of lane conditions. The Ion Pro gave me the best look sliding on 33, looking 19 at the arrows with my breakpoint around 8, but if I wanted to play straighter I could get softer with my hand and stay more up the back of the ball. It also looked great further left with more tilt and slower ball speed. When compared to the Summit, the Ion Pro is 4 boards stronger, cleaner, and much more continuous. The Ion Pro will slot below a big solid asymmetric and above a solid/hybrid symmetric in my bag. The Ion Pro is going to be a game changer and a must in everyone's bag! Storm Ion Pro uses a brand new core with AI Technology wrapped TX-16 in a hybrid version.Storm is creating another benchmark motion to compliment their two goats.
Storm Ion Pro will bridge the gap between the high end asymmetricals and their stong symmetricals.
I compared the ion pro to the Phaze 2 and the IQ tour solid in my video and for me the ion pro had more shape downlane but will great control.I can definitely see the ion pro as my first ball out of the bag with great versatility.
I can definitely see different layouts and surface preps on the Ion pro to create some different options.
Available June 21st!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Storm Ion Pro features the TX-16 Hybrid Reactive cover, Element Tour A.I. Core, and comes at
4000-grit. This is the new benchmark from the Storm brand. This ball has a lower diff which puts it in the
range of the IQTS. The Ion gets plenty of length with plenty of down lane motion. This ball is stronger
and seems to be a ball up from the IQTS. I compared my Ion to the Absolute Power and the Ion is a touch
stronger with more shape down lane. The Power is a ball I would go to when the Ion is becoming too
much ball for the lame. Another amazing release from Storm!!!

The all-new ION PRO features the new Element Tour Core and the reliable TX-16 Hybrid Cover stock giving you the ultimate benchmark shape for today's conditions. This ball was designed to upgrade the IQ Tour and, in my opinion, they nailed it. I’ve used this ball on multiple lane patterns and surfaces and so far, this ball does exactly what its intended to do. Out of the box I had a little more down lane motion than I'd like to see out of this type of a ball, so I decided to hit it with a 2,000 pad to get the ball to rev up a little earlier on the lane and mellow out the backends. For me this ball is about 2-3 boards stronger than my IQ Tour and it has taken over my Phaze 2 position in my tournament bag. It has a little more torque off the pattern than both of those 2 balls and seems to handle the oil just as well as my Phaze 2. The Ion Pro seems to really bridge the gap between Asymmetrical and symmetrical bowling balls. This ball will do well in both tournament and house shot conditions as it has that benchmark feel which all players of all styles will enjoy.

Storm’s Ion Pro, their first ever asymmetric benchmark ball. The Ion Pro has the TX-16 hybrid cover wrapped around the Element Tour AI Core is able to adapt on multiple lane patterns. The hybrid cover is a perfect balance of pearl and solid components will ensure optimal length and backend will be achieved on all medium conditions. My ball layout is 50x5x40. For a low to mid rev player this ball reads the mid lane very well and does not overreact down lane. I tested this ball on THS 43 Feet with great success playing multiple angles. If you need ball that's gives you a great look on multiple patterns, put the Storm Ion Pro in your bag today! My ball review videos are posted on YouTube channel Stanley Waite.

Storm’s new Ion Pro is a Hybrid Asymmetric Piece. This piece is good for Heavy-Medium Volume Patterns. PAP is 5 5/16 R 1 3/16 Up. Rev Rate: 400. Speed: 16.5. Drilled this piece with the Pin Up between the Fingers, CG kicked out 1” from the palm, and Mass Bias 1 1/2” Right of the Thumb. I threw this on a burned up 43’ house pattern. Out of Box ball motion was clean through the fronts with a strong continuous motion in the backend. I compared this piece to the Phaze II (3-3 Right) starts earlier in the mids wth a smooth motion on the backend and IQ Tour (4-4 Right) was more of a smooth rolling piece. This piece fits between the Phaze II and IQ Tour. This is a Versatile piece that fits all styles of bowlers.

The Ion Pro gives me a nice, controlled breakpoint. The Ion Pro does not get through the head part of the lane as easily as my Absolute, but I did not expect it to. It easily covers 5-7 more boards than my absolute but not as many as my Harsh Reality.
I first tried the Ion Pro on the THS after drilling the ball. I was able to throw the ball with some success on the THS, but it did force me a little deeper than I usually prefer to be on that type of pattern. I can see myself using this ball on the THS when I want to get inside of everyone else on the pair.
I used the ball in a tournament on the 2024 PBA Mark Roth pattern. The ball allowed me to play around 3rd arrow on the lane with a breakpoint at about the 8 board. I found the ball to be very forgiving when I pulled the ball a little inside of the preferred line I was playing. It was a little less forgiving when I pushed it out as it wanted to overreact a bit sending the ball a little nosy.
My overall first reaction of the Ion Pro is positive. I like the fact it gets through the heads cleaner than some of my other asymmetric balls. It is a ball that I feel I can trust if I am not as accurate as I want to be to not get me into too much trouble. I can’t ask for much more out of a ball than that.

The ION Pro is the ball I’ve been waiting for! I wanted a lower diff/Int diff ball forever! The Tour DynamX was really close but it is a little too slow due to the differential being 0.026. It was hard to get that ball into the roll phase if there was too much oil or with too much ball speed. The ION PRO solves that problem! It always gets into a roll. It’s not too strong, or weak, it’s the perfect benchmark ball. I can throw it harder and I can get real straight, or slow down and really send the ball right and it will recover. That’s how I measure my benchmark balls, how many zones can I play! Tour Dynam-X was limited, the ION PRO built on that ball and can do ANYTHING and the carry is vastly improved. Pick one up today!
Welcome back as we have a great one for you from Storm! If you're a fan of these reviews I want to thank you for watching and reading these reviews and videos and hope it gives you some information to take back when looking to get your next bowling ball.

This ball is gonna be the new way to look at the benchmark ball. Being someone who never threw a Phaze II and not many of the IQ’s this ball is marketed as that in between ball AKA your benchmark piece. The testing was done at Castle Lanes in Racine on a used oil pattern. For me this was likely to be the best case when I would use the ION Pro. Due to my lower rev rate/higher speed I tend to throw the bigger balls to start even on house shots. I was able to move around the lane some but when on top of the friction this ball started to hook up really fast so as I moved left I was able to roll it into the friction and it was still responsive. Shots that I did get left of target were a little lazy but didn’t overhook as you see with much bigger balls. I was able to play with the surface and this ball took these changes very well without being too clean or burnup. This ball will have a place in anyone's bag as this ball is extremely bowler friendly.

The Ion Pro is Storm's newest addition to the benchmark line, surpassing the success of the IQ Tour and the Phaze 2. With the all-new Element Tour AI core and the TX-16 Hybrid coverstock, the Ion Pro takes the benchmark series to a whole new level. I drilled mine at 45 x 4.5 x 30.
Testing it on a 42ft house pattern at my home center of Cortlandt Lanes, the Ion Pro tends to pick up a little earlier in the friction, but still has that smooth, controllable finish as it goes through the pins, something that's interesting enough for an asymmetrical ball. I compared it to my IQ tour (shined for a solid, goes longer and cleaner) and Phaze 2 (controllable and smooth finish) and find the Ion Pro to be right in the middle between these two balls. Definitely a game changer in the benchmark series and will find this ball to be most useful for all levels of competition. Be sure to drill one from your local pro shop!!
Thomas Coco (storm staffer)
With all the hype around the debut of this ball after the success of the original IQ, who wouldn’t drill one? Mine is drilled pin down and does not disappoint. As advertised, a true controllable benchmark shape with added cornering power here. If you don’t have one now I can’t imagine why you wouldn’t have one in the future.
The next benchmark ball is here with the Ion. Not as weak as a IQ Tour yet not as clean as a Phaze 2; the Ion fits between both those selections. When you need earlier than a Phaze 2 the Ion is a great option to go to. The Ion is versatile as you can close your angles and open them based off what the lane is giving you. This ball has become a staple in my bag and comes with me wherever I go, whether it's to league or tournament play.
Had just purchased my Ion from Bowler IQ in Michigan for Jr. Gold. It was the best decision ever! The staff at IQ was knowledgeable, helpful and quick- especially Caleb. Best "candy" shop ever.

I just recently switched to 14-pound equipment after an injury. This is my first new ball at that weight and it’s everything the promotional information states. Sometimes we over-hype something or people think staffers must pump up the new products. In this case, all the hype is correct. There’s not one style of bowler that can’t benefit from this ball.
For the ultimate benchmark ball, I went with my standard layout when trying to get a read on a ball. It was easy for me to get the ball through the fronts and is the ultimate reaction shape for me as it picks up its roll. Mind you, this ball doesn’t have any trouble making a corner if you really wanted to get your hand in it.
My summer team and all of us were using the Ion Pro last night. One senior player with a very low rev rate, myself newly minted senior with still a fair amount of roll and my son, a two-handed, high rev rate player. Again, this ball fits any type of style. The Ion is very receptive to rotation changes, speed changes and the versatility to play across the lane.
When you can appeal to that wide of range of player, the team in Utah has outdone themselves. I’d be interested in polishing one up to see what type of reaction shape it gives. I no doubt will drill multiples of this piece. If you’re in the market for a new ball, I can’t recommend a ball any more highly than the Ion Pro.

Ion Pro is a fresh take on a must-have shape! This reinvention of the benchmark ball provides a smooth shape that is both predictable and dynamic. This ball feels like a torquier IQ Tour Solid with a slightly stronger cover. The TX-16 formula feels familiar, yet the hybrid version featured here creates a little more length and allows this ball to handle more oil than the IQ Tour without being as strong/early as the Phaze 2. This ball is exactly what I want out of a benchmark ball: early, smooth, and predictable. And like any true benchmark ball, it fits right in the middle of my bag! This ball is one-of-a-kind. Available now at your local Storm VIP Pro Shop!

The Ion Pro is truly a gamechanger for my bag. I have ironically never owned a Phaze II or IQ Tour, so I cannot compare it to those but the versatility of this ball is more than I have ever seen from any other ball I have owned. I have been able to play straight up 10 which is where I prefer to start but the other day I moved in and played around 17 at the arrows to around 12 and was pleasantly surprised how well this ball handled that line and the backend was amazing. If I get in normally, I struggle to get the ball to get the 10 out but saw no issue with that using this ball.

The Ion Pro features the newer Amplfied Inertia (A.I.) core technology. This core as you would expect will help the Ion Pro in providing a predictable shape at the end of the pattern. As A.I. core technology has been previously tested that means a few extra percentage points of carry can be anticipated.
For my review I compared my Ion Pros to the famous and long standing !Q Tour. As advertised by SPI, the Ion Pro falls between the Phaze II and !Q Tour. For me, the Ion Pros lean more toward the !Q side of the arsenal. Also, the layouts I chose for my Ion Pros allow me to keep my angles tighter and less steep for sport patterns I prefer to play on.
Both of my Ion Pros I did roll on a standard 43' house pattern to test with the !Q Tour. Ion Pro layout #1 is new for me and I was impressed with this one. Basically it is a great option for me when jumping out of urethane or need good control off the spot. It allowed me to blend the wet/dry as a rev dominant player. Ion Pro layout #2 simply transitions smoothly through all phases of ball motion. In comparison, my !Q Tour gets offline a touch quicker. I feel the Ion Pros give me more strength and reliability overall. If I could make one change I would adjust layout #2 to more of my standard 5 x 4 x 3 - 2LS. Simply to see all the versatility these Ion Pros have.
I recommend the the Storm Ion Pro for the player seeking straighter angles as lanes transition. I'm definitely excited about this ball from Storm. Everyone needs a ball in their arsenal which is predictable and versatile. They can throw it and get a good read on the pattern. The Ion Pro is the newest benchmark ball from Storm for modern lane conditions. I prefer asymmetrical balls, so love that this is a asym benchmark ball. The coverstock is TX-16 which is the same cover as the Phaze II, Storm’s previous, great benchmark ball. That cover is medium for me so it’s flexible. I can sand it on higher volume patterns or shine it if I need the ball to skid easier through the fronts. The asymmetric Element Tour A.I. Core has a lower RG so it revs in the midlane and the lower differential makes the back end smooth and controllable. Bottom line, the surface setup and bowler’s physical toolkit to adjust speed, rev rate and axis rotation & tilt will allow this ball to cover a wide range of angles and conditions. It will do what you make it do. I drilled mine pin up, 4 ½" from my PAP and with PSA 4" from my PAP.
The highly anticipated Storm Ion Pro brings the next evolution in cover technology with the TX-16 hybrid cover, a variation of the TX-16 solid cover found on the Phaze 2. What is unique about this ball, in addition to A.I. outer core technology, is an asymmetric core in the "benchmark" category. Upon first throwing it, my initial impression was a stronger, "torque-ier" IQ Tour. Definitely earlier and smoother, but still able to handle 4th arrow without any issues. Flattening my hand, the ball had no trouble rolling off of friction going up 8 board and having a controlled reaction. I personally love equipment in the .025-.040 diff. range so this one was at the top of my list to get drilled up. It can absolutely be the first ball out of your bag for league if you have any kind of friction to use. Probably not the ideal choice for something super heavy, but for most typical league conditions I can see this being ball #1 80% of the time. Comparing directly to the IQ Tour Solid on the same lane, the IQ was longer and sharper down the lane compared to the Ion. Those two could possibly make a good 1-2 combo, though I think the Ion and IQ Tour Pearl would have more separation.

Storm’s Ion Pro utilizes the TX-16 hybrid coverstock and the Element Tour AI core. My first thought was Wow. I drilled the Storm Ion Pro before I left for the PBA50 WSOB. I wasn’t sure what to expect with the lower differential number. The Storm Ion Pro was fantastic on the Ballard oil pattern playing outside of board 10 and it was the answer on the longer Petraglia oil pattern from inside board 15. I was very impressed with the Storm Ion Pro’s versatility. I left it at box finish and I think that is where I will leave it.
I think it is in that same range as the iQ Tour solid and below a Phase II.

I'll admit, I have been a huge advocate of both the iQ tour & phaze 2 for a long, long time. When I saw a new asymetric ball that was supposed to take its place.. I was skeptical. After drilling this up, I will say, I wish I didn't have my initial thoughts. With the ability to drill this with more of the bowler in mind, it can give you the exact benchmark ball motion you are looking for. For me, it is stronger than the iQ and phaze 2, but closer to the phaze 2 shape wise. It is a bit longer for me, but still covers the same amount of boards, making it a little sharper on the backend, helping my carry. I've found success on both league shots and sport shots. Very, very happy I drilled this up. You probably should too.

COMMENTS:
The Storm Ion Pro has been generating quite a buzz among bowlers for its impressive performance, balance and versatility. The Benchmark Asymmetrical a first for Storm.
Features the TX-16 Hybrid Reactive coverstock and the Element Tour AI core. This combination provides a unique blend of control and power, making it a great benchmark ball for many bowlers.
The TX-16 Hybrid coverstock is finished at 4000 Abralon, offering a good balance between traction and smoothness, while the Element Tour AI core is a low RG, low differential asymmetrical design, which helps the ball rev up quickly and provides strong midlane traction, a strong move at the breakpoint with a surprising amount of angularity, providing a consistent and reliable reaction.
Compared to my Roto Grip X-Cell, the Ion Pro has a bit more total hook and a stronger move at the breakpoint. It is also more angular off the spot compared to the Storm Phaze ll and IQ Tour, making it a versatile option.
For Tweeners and Strokers like myself the ball's versatility makes it suitable for different styles, with users appreciating its ability to handle various conditions without losing its effectiveness. I can stay in my comfort zones longer which boost the confidence in game usage
The Storm Ion Pro is a solid choice for bowlers looking for a reliable benchmark ball. Its combination of the TX-16 Hybrid Reactive coverstock and Element Tour AI core provides a versatile and powerful reaction that can adapt to different lane conditions. Whether you're a cranker, tweener, or stroker, the Ion Pro offers a consistent and strong performance that can help elevate your game

Box finish: 4000 grit abralon --- Tested: at box condition and with Storm Rough Edge finishing product
Layout: 5 ½ x 5 x 5 – tested on 44ft house pattern and a 50ft USBC Junior Gold pattern
What I liked and found about the all new Ion Pro is the ball was very STABLE on both patterns I bowled on, may it have been the house pattern or the tougher 50ft USBC Junior Gold pattern. On the house pattern, the Ion Pro reacted similar to my Roto Grip Tour Dynam-X with a little extra “kick” on the back part of the pattern and onto the dry part of the lane. Adding Storm’s Rough Edge finishing product to the coverstock calmed the backend down to where it was not over reacting on the dry part of the lane. It basically promoted the surface to looking like “lane shine” condition without wearing down the peaks and valleys on the TX-16 HYBRID coverstock. Which brings me to the next topic: TX-16 has been a major player in the coverstock game for years, and NOW, for the first time ever Storm made it into a HYBRID coverstock, which is ESSENTIAL for today’s playing conditions and having TX-16 Hybrid on an asymmetrical core is UNIQUE for a “benchmark” ball. My SPI arsenal has changed a little bit this summer with SPI adding the Ion Pro and Roto Grip X-Cell to the line-up. My current arsenal is from weaker to stronger is: Roto Grip X-Ray at box finish with a super smooth 5” pin to pap layout, Roto Grip X-Ray with Rough Edge on it with a strong 4” pin to pap layout, Storm Lighting Blackout, Storm Ion Pro, Roto Grip Attention Star, Roto Grip X-Cell. That is one of the BEST summer arsenals I can remember having in the past 5 years at least. The Ion Pro is readily available at your local pro shops and watch for more SPI Matchmaker Live! This was an amazing purchase. Bowlersmart had sent it to me within 2 days of purchase. I also got some shoes in the same time period. I am fixing to get a bag and some accessories for my ball.

Sam Cooper. Roto Grip Amateur Staffer. The ION Pro impressed me right from the start. The newest benchmark reaction from Storm is a different combination than we have seen in the past. We have the TX-16 hybrid cover stock. Paired with the new Element Tour A.I. Core which gives this ball a differential of .035 and intermediate differential of .014(15lbs). This combination gives you the confidence that this ball will consistently read the lanes and tell you what the lane is doing. In terms of my bag it is a step down from a Summit or a Optimum Idol, but stronger than a IQ Tour solid. I would like Storm to give us another ball with a similar combination already.
The first night I tested this ball was on the 37’ Viper pattern. I was impressed the first game I threw the ION. This was after 3 games of qualifying I decided to try it out. I hit the ball with a 2000 abralon pad. This surface also seems to be where it works best for me if I am going to throw it on fresh (4000 can be too over under for me). A lot of urethane was being used and the ION Pro ignored the urethane carry down on the lanes and gave me a consistent reaction to get to the pocket. Next night was on 42’ Mark Roth pattern. There was a lot of friction to the right and a puddle in the middle of the lane. I could throw the ION to the friction, and it would do the right thing every time (as long as the operator threw it correctly). It just gives you a smooth reaction that you can use on a variety of patterns. Any tournament bowler should have this ball in the bag no matter what condition you are bowling on. This ball would also be good for anyone that likes to see a smooth consistent reaction.
I drilled up my ION PRO with my standard 4.5 x 4 x 2 layout that I use on lower diff balls. I have tweaked the surface at 1500 to 3000.
The ION PRO is a good piece for the center that I bowl at with their 20+ year old synthetic panels. With the 1500 surface, the ION PRO is just under my THE ROAD & it might have just a little more pick up than my IQ TOUR RUBY. The ION PRO is one that I can keep in front of me and still get good roll off the medium/dryer patterns when they get a little wet/dry. I can also ball up to THE ROAD when I get pushed left or ball down to the IQ RUBY when I need to open up the lane to the right.
Put this one in your bag if you are bowling on worn surfaces and your IQ Ruby is still not enough off the spot to carry with. This is also a good one to put in between your PHAZE II and IQ TOUR.
I bowled my best series with this ball. 751. I had it drilled a little longer down the lane as I get many revs but works perfect for my house shot leagues and I was using heavy oil balls that would hit brooklyn often.
This ball is exactly what Storm said it was, right in the middle of the IQ tour solid and Phaze 2. I see it being a pinch linger and sharper than the phaze 2 which is great for me! I drilled mine 4.5x4.5x2 and I absolutely love this ball!

The Storm Ion Pro is a fantastic addition to my bag, offering a powerful and versatile reaction that fits perfectly between my Phaze II and IQ Tour. This ball revs up quickly in the midlane, and its hybrid TX-16 coverstock, combined with the new Element Tour AI core, gives it an angular move at the backend that I haven't seen in other balls. On medium to heavy oil, the Ion Pro outshines my Phaze II with its sharper motion, yet it still delivers the same predictability that I love about the Phaze. It’s a perfect complement to the IQ Tour as well, adding more punch when I need it without sacrificing control. This ball is a must-have for anyone looking for a reliable benchmark that can handle a variety of conditions.
The new Ion Pro is the new standard in benchmark bowling balls. This new release features the TX-16 hybrid reactive coverstock and an all new Element Tour A.I. core. At 15 pounds the RG is a low 2.47 with a differential of .035 and an intermediate differential of .014. I drilled mine at 4x4x2 which puts the pin above my ring finger. This ball is everything it was advertised to be. The new standard for benchmark ball motion. The Ion Pro is a little less overall hook for me than the Phaze II, but it definitely has a shaper backend motion than the Phaze II. It is stronger than the IQ Tour but provides the same kind of predictable reaction that has made the IQ so popular among tournament bowlers. The new Ion Pro will provide the bowler with high usability on many lane conditions, making this a must purchase for any league bowler. The versatility of the Ion Pro is simply unmatched.
Layout: 55 x 4 x 70
This ball is a staple in my tournament bag and will continue to be for the forseeable future. "Benchmark" may be a subjective term, but most bowlers will be able to get lined up off of this ball easily, no matter what pattern is in front of them.
The combination of midlane read, controllable yet hard backend motion, and versatility make the Ion Pro a must-have for all competitive tournament bowlers.
Compared to the similar Tour Dynam-X from Roto Grip, the Ion Pro features a little stronger ball motion. And with the weaker hybrid coverstock compared to the Tour Dynam-X's solid cover, gives the Ion Pro a little sharper motion downlane, and provides a more ideal motion for when the move is a little deeper than the Dynam-X. These two make a great 1-2 punch for your arsenal!

The Ion Pro is the next best innovation from Storm. This is the first asymmetric benchmark bowling ball ever designed by Storm Bowling. This bowling ball is designed to provide a balanced performance across different lane conditions. The Ion Pro features the Element Tour A.I. core and TX-16 coverstock. This is a bowling ball you, for sure, need to have in your arsenal.
Given the core numbers of the Ion Pro, I drilled mine with my standard pin-up layout: 65 x 4 ½ x 35. From the very first shot, this bowling ball gave me a very good impression. It is truly a benchmark bowling ball as I have been able to use it on multiple oil patterns so far. The bowling ball felt controllable and responded to release adjustments very well, which to me, those are some of the key elements that make a good benchmark bowling ball. It certainly falls very nicely between the proven IQ Tour and Phaze 2.
The IQ Tour is, by far, my favorite bowling ball, but with increasing amounts of conditioner used for today’s oil patterns, it sometimes feels a bit too weak. The Ion Pro seems to have a stronger coverstock and can battle patterns with higher volumes of conditioner much better. I have seen this ball roll very well with different layouts and the coverstock seems to take surface adjustments very well. I am fairly confident that many bowlers of different styles will find a lot of success with this bowling ball. The Ion Pro will be in my arsenal for a while, and I am also looking forward to drilling another one or two of these.

One of the newest releases from Storm fits right in the middle of the bag as the “benchmark reaction” that any bowler can judge ball reaction from. The TX-16 hybrid cover stock is weak enough that it won’t immediately pick up once it hits the dry, and the Element core, with it’s low RG of .035, fits perfectly giving an incredibly stable, arcing type reaction. Several centers in our area use a pretty low volume THS so the lower diff balls have been staples in my bag for years. When other balls, like an IQ RUBY, start to go a little too long before making their turn to the pocket, the ION PRO will be a nice small step up to read a little earlier read while still maintaining the controllable reaction off the breakpoint. I can certainly see this ball being a staple in the middle of the bag, replacing some of my older low diff solids (my previous “benchmark” equipment”) for a very long time.

This new Storm Ion Pro gives everyone the benchmark shape they need! I drilled the Ion Pro 4 3/4 x 4 1/2 x 2 using vls. This layout gives me more continuation through the lane, while still reading the midlanes. This ball gives the true benchmark shape. It is very smooth and controllable while being one of the most versatile balls made. I also drilled an Ion Pro pin down, this gives me relatively the same motion, just reads the lane earlier compared to the pin up Ion Pro. The Element Tour-Ai core inside of the new Tx-16 hybrid coverstock gives the ball a more continuous motion compared to its big brother, the Phase 2. This ball fits the 2-3 ball spot for me in a 6-ball tournament bag, and this one will be a staple in the bag!

The best word to use to describe this new Storm Ion Pro truly is "benchmark". It very much bridges the gap between the trusty Storm Phaze 2 and IQ Tour solid. I find when the Phaze 2 starts to endure too much early friction, and the IQ Tour is still a little too clean for the situation, this Ion Pro really shines, getting through the fronts just a touch earlier than the Phaze 2 and making a stronger mid lane move than the IQ. With my pin down layout on this one, it comes off the end of the pattern even smoother, allowing me to throw it on fresher conditions as well.

The Ion Pro features the TX-16 hybrid cover wrapped around the brand new Element Tour AI core. This produces a very stable and versatile ball reaction that’s going to work for a wide variety of styles across all conditions. The Ion Pro reminds me a lot of my older IQ Tours with big weight holes. The increase in differential and cover strength over the OG IQ Tour makes the Ion Pro handle more oil and steeper angles through the front part of the lane.

The ION PRO is just that ball! This ball is the most versatile ball I have seen since the Alpha Crux days. With the combination of a low int diff and a hybridized version of the Phaze II cover gives you the most predictable motion that does not want to quit on the market today. This ball is made for everybody; slow ball speed, high ball speed, low rev rate or high rev rate. It does not matter! For an Asym, this ball is relatively clean through the fronts, picks up where you need it too and just keeps rolling through the pins; a very continuous motion! Another plus is this ball takes really well to surface changes. Everything we as bowlers look for in a BENCHMARK ball. Benchmark has truly been redefined!
I was going to purchase this bowling ball until I noticed this website asks for an additional 5 dollars to replace your ball if it cracks when THEY drill it. Absurd , you need to get better drills if that’s an issue

The new Storm Ion Pro is an impressive addition to the Storm lineup, designed to serve as a versatile ball that redefines the meaning of “benchmark”. It features the TX-16 Hybrid Reactive coverstock, first seen on the Phaze II as a solid cover, and the newly developed Element Tour A.I. asymmetric core which offers a lower RG of 2.47 and a medium-strength differential of 0.035 in 15lbs. This core and cover combination gives the Ion Pro the ability to rev up quickly, providing strong midlane traction and a sharp but controllable backend finish.
I’ve found that the Ion Pro does not disappoint when it comes to versatility, especially on medium volume oil patterns. It has offered a solid balance between control and power, and for me it fits somewhere between the !Q Tour and Phaze II. The Ion Pro’s smooth yet angular backend reaction makes it an ideal ball given the number of centers with older lane surfaces in my area – it’s clean enough to handle the extra friction while still being able to provide good down-lane continuation. By comparison, the Phaze II is stronger in the midlane and not as sharp on the backend thanks to the solid cover; and the !Q Tour is a step down from the Ion Pro.
I see this as a very versatile ball that deserves a spot in every bowler’s bag. The Ion Pro can be used on house patterns as well as sport conditions delivering a consistent and predictable reaction. From everything I’ve seen, the Storm Ion Pro lives up to the hype of redefining the definition of a “benchmark” ball.

The Storm Ion Pro the new benchmark in the Storm product line. The Ion Pro is wrapped in the TX-16 hybrid and the use of AI Technology. This lives up to the hype, after getting a chance to get on the lanes with the Ion pro I really impressed with what seen. Very smooth controllable ball that continues through the pocket. I put one of my favorite layouts on it 40x5x45. This ball is one of my favorites in the bag and anytime I go to a tournament it’s the first choice to come out.

Storm has created another striking success with the all-new Ion Pro! And what makes the Ion Pro such a success is that Storm has developed something every straighter player like me has been waiting for – an asymmetrical benchmark ball that delivers enormous results! The Ion Pro combines the Element Tour A.I. Core with the TX-16 Hybrid Reactive coverstock. And together they make the Ion Pro a ball that belongs in any serious bowler's arsenal! So, let's take a closer look at The Ion Pro.
The Element Tour A.I. Core asymmetric design leaves plenty of room for any pro shop operator to tweak a layout to get the most out of the Ion Pro. And with that tweaking ability, I found the Element Tour A.I. core to be stable and consistent. I liked how the Element Tour core revs smoothly through the mid-lane without sacrificing the energy at the exit of the pattern. Further, I found the Element Tour A.I. Core crisp and vibrant as it heads to the pins without being overly aggressive. And because of its uniquely smooth asymmetrical design, the Element Tour A.I. Core strikes the pins with the precision of a symmetrical core but with the power of its asymmetrical design! Lastly, the Element Tour A.I. Core is far from lazy! So, if you are a straighter player like me, you will appreciate the Element A.I. Core's ability to stand up and roll with authority even when you know you missed! You can trust the Element A.I. Core to fight for you every shot!
When it comes to coverstocks – you can't get any more consistent than the TX-16 Hybrid! The solid version of the TX-16 was on the Phaze II, and how long has the Phaze II been around? Exactly! So, it's no wonder Storm used a Hybrid Version of the TX-16 on the Ion Pro – it is that good! The TX-16 Hybrid at the factory 4000-grit surface is ideal for straighter players like me. You can count on the TX-16 Hybrid to be clean through the front part of the lane. And I loved how the TX-16 Hybrid had smooth traction in the mid-lane, giving me the predictable motion I needed to see as my Ion Pro made its way down the lane. And what I loved most about the TX-16 Hybrid is its ability to be consistent through an entire night of league conditions. The TX-16 bites crisply on fresh oil but also blends the broken-down pattern equally as well making the TX-16 the benchmark skid, hook and roll you can depend on!
In closing, Storm has done an outstanding job creating the Ion Pro! And I will boldly say the Ion Pro delivers what Storm claimed it would -the Asymmetrical benchmark ball that sets the new standard in reliability! And if you are a straighter player like me, that reliability belongs in your arsenal! So, stop into your local Strom VIP Pro Shop and have our Ion Pro ready to roll. And be prepared for that asymmetrical benchmark reliability you have been waiting for! The Ion Pro is well worth the investment!

My first game out of the box with this ball was 279 and I have been unable to put it down since. This ball is the perfect transition ball for me from game 2 to 3 and works very well in tournaments. This ball has been a great replacement for my Iq tour. For me, it goes more down the lane and has the perfect back end to hit the pocket. I average about 227 and this has been a great addition to my bag. The Ion Pro is in my every league and tournament bag. I like this ball so much I had to get another one. The Ion Pro is a versatile ball that can roll on every lane condition. I highly recommend this ball.!

The New Storm Ion Pro is the next step in dependable and controllable ball motion. The Element Tour A.I. core offers a low RG, medium differential, and mild asymmetry. This combination offers the midline read of asymmetric equipment, but the smooth and stable ball reaction seen out of equipment like the IQ Tour and Phaze 2. I drilled my Ion Pro 4.75x4x4 2ls which is my benchmark asymmetric layout. Given that the Ion Pro has TX-16 hybrid overstock, I knew that this was going to be a transition ball because it was not going to be too early through the fronts but its not as clean as the Tour Dynam-x from the previous year. This ball handles surface changes surprisingly well and can definitely be used when the patters are just dead hard or cliffed up on the fresh with just a medium amount of volume.
The Storm ION Pro bowling ball is a noteworthy addition to Storm's lineup, boasting impressive technology and performance characteristics that make it a strong contender for both competitive and casual bowlers. Having had the opportunity to test it thoroughly, I would like to offer a comparative review against the beloved Storm Phase 2, which has been a staple in many bowlers' arsenals since its release.
The ION Pro features Storm's Element Tour AI core, designed to provide a strong mid-lane read while creating a smooth and controllable backend reaction. The coverstock is composed of the TX-16 Pearl, which allows for versatility across different lane conditions. In contrast, the Phase 2 incorporates the Velocity core and the TX-16 Solid coverstock, well-known for its ability to offer a powerful mid-lane performance and a little less backend reaction than the ION Pro.
When rolling the ION Pro, you can expect a consistently smooth arc and reliable continuation down the lane. It performs particularly well on medium oil patterns, allowing bowlers to feel comfortable making adjustments without overreacting. The ball's ability to maintain its energy until the pins adds to its appeal for those looking to achieve striking consistency.
In contrast, the Phase 2 has a reputation for being a more versatile option across varying oil patterns. Its strong backend reaction makes it a favorite among bowlers who enjoy playing outside the track or taking advantage of transitioning lane conditions.
When it comes to feel, both balls deliver an excellent response from the lanes.

The Storm Ion Pro is an exceptional choice for bowlers seeking a versatile ball that performs well across various lane conditions just as the IQ Tour did. Featuring the innovative AI Core, this ball provides a strong mid-lane read and impressive continuation through the pins, perfectly complementing my high-rev style. The TX-16 coverstock further enhances performance, offering an ideal balance of traction and responsiveness for medium to heavy oil patterns.
On the lanes, the Ion Pro truly shines, delivering a powerful and predictable hook that boosts my confidence with every shot. It excels on fresh oil, allowing for a strong entry angle, and adapts seamlessly as the lanes transition. This versatility makes it a valuable addition to my arsenal, whether I'm competing in a league or honing my skills during practice.
Overall, the Storm Ion Pro combines advanced AI core technology with the high-quality TX-16 coverstock, making it a standout choice for bowlers looking to elevate their game.
Layout: 55 x 4 3/8 x 35
The uniqueness of the Ion Pro is the first thing that comes to mind – when it is at a fresh 4000 out of box finish (or brought down to 3000, depending on the oil pattern), this ball is the prototypical benchmark ball that it is marketed to be. However, if the ball is allowed to get lane shined up past 4000, the backend reaction is markedly sharper. This adds a layer of versatility to the usability of the Ion Pro. For myself, on fresh conditions, I preferred a fresh 3000 surface to add more midlane roll and predictability on medium to medium-heavy conditions. In my arsenal, this ball fits between the 900 Global Sublime Focus (for heavy oil) and the Storm Phaze AI (for medium oil).
The Ion Pro is the latest addition to the Premier line at Storm. After drilling an Ion Pro and having success with it, I consider this my “benchmark” ball. It’s not too strong, not too clean, not too early, and not too responsive. It’s essentially, everything you’d want in a benchmark ball. With an RG of 2.47 but a differential of .035, this tells us that the ball wants to read the lane early, but it’s not going to flare a lot. If you ever drilled the extremely popular IQ from Storm, it had a similar differential and was widely successful.
When comparing it to the IQ, the Ion Pro is made to be stronger and provide a quicker response time. I’ve drilled one so far and really like it. I’ve mapped it out as 5.5 x 5 x 2. This puts the pin near my bridge and the mass bias just to the right of my thumb. It rolls exactly as described up above. It’s not too much of any one motion, but just simply, predictable. I’ve been able to use it mainly on short-medium patterns, but it’s definitely earned a spot in my bag.
If you’re missing one of those benchmark pieces in your bag that you can rely on to see what type of pattern you’re competing on, I’d drill an Ion Pro!

The new ball in the Storm Premier line is the Storm Ion Pro. Can you say benchmark ball! This is a ball that has been missing from the storm line, a low diff low RG asymmetrical bowling ball. I drilled mine 4 1/2 x 4 x4x2 pin up. The ION pro is a perfect combo of length and strength. Not too early or a huge backend motion. ION just gives you control. 2 handers absolutely loves the ION. The ION pro is a good compliment to the other staples in the lineup Phaze 2 and IQ Tour. Not as early as a Phaze 2 and not as much on backend as an IQ. Great ball and sales have been great. A true winner from Storm.

The Ion Pro is one of the new additions to the Premier line at Storm. Using a well renowned cover (TX-16) and a new weight block with the addition of A.I. core tech, this ball was destined for greatness before putting holes into it! I experienced immediate success with this ball on multiple patterns, from multiple angles! Being a huge fan of the !Q, this redefinition on a benchmark ball is refreshing! Not too strong, not too clean, not over responsive. Simply, a great combo of control and POWER. The lower diff tells us that it shouldn’t flare much. The motion is very readable and the subtle color of the ION PRO, makes it even easier to read as she travels down the lane. I went with my favorite VLS layout on this of 4.75x5.75x2. For me, this put my thumb almost through the mass bias. The ION Pro has become a staple in my bag and I take it everywhere with me. This is often the first ball out of my bag on league nights and tournaments.
For a twist on it, I added some Power Edge to it to see how it handles coverstock changes and it still is a treat! #StormNation
