The SWAG Black Dragon Hybrid Bowling Ball is only the second ball I’ve gotten since dropping to 14 lbs. It gives me the perfect amount of length and a strong backend to finish through the pins. I’ve been using it on medium to heavy oil and it performs great on both. On heavy oil I can stay more down and in while on medium oil, I can swing it more. For reference, my ball layout is 4 x 4 x 2. I am a medium speed, low to medium rev bowler so I rely on the performance of the ball and this one has quickly become my go to benchmark ball. The motion of this ball is predictable and that helps me to maintain consistency. I would definitely recommend this to someone who’s looking for a strong benchmark ball.

This ball is really good. It's for heavy to medium oil. It's a very strong ball and mine goes long and when it starts turning it don't stop. It hits the pins like a mack truck and the pins don't stand a chance. I'm absolutely surprised on how good this ball is. I have used this ball on sport shot and house shot patterns the sport shot patterns have been as long as 52 foot long and this ball handled if very good and would carry strikes at ease. On house shot patterns this ball acts like it's nothing. I can play inside and outside with it, it's like an engine that never stops working. This ball with the dragon asymmetric core and the scorch hy-brid AP26 coverstock makes it a winner. It has an RG 2.49 a DIFF .050 and a MASS BIAS .017. this is one you don't want to sleep on

The SWAG Black Dragon Hybrid drilled 55x4.5.35 has quickly become one of the most dependable bowling balls in my arsenal. After spending a lot of time with it on a variety of lane conditions, I can confidently say this ball has earned a permanent spot in my bag. It combines strong traction in the oil with exceptional continuation through the pins, making it one of those rare pieces that performs well from the first frame and continues to be effective long after the lanes begin to transition. What impressed me most right away was how well the Dragon Hybrid handles fresh oil. On heavier conditions, it picks up in the midlane with confidence without feeling too early or burning up its energy. FINALLY got this ball drilled a few days ago when my driller returned. The Swag Black Dragon Hybrid surprised me and is now the first ball out of my bag on newly oiled lanes. I am a lefty who prefers throwing up the lanes over the 5 board and letting a ball ride up to the pocket and this ball does just exactly that. I have this drilled my standard strong 4x1x1 preferring to let the core and surface of the ball be the defining differences. The ball first of all is beautiful with its black and silver pour (heads up Raider and Kings fans) and when rotating down the lane gathers a LOT of attention as I have been interrupted many time while practicing with it. Unlike the Black Dragon solid this ball clears the fronts effortlessly, starts gaining traction about mid lane and even with my strong layout is still a little rounded when it hits the pocket. Once it hits the pocket the Dragon Hybrid hits like a truck with its 1500 sanded surface and on light hits sprays pins everywhere. I am able to play this up the boards or a little inside with equal power. Swags beginning of the year and mid year releases have great core matches to the new AP 26 additive that almost negates any deflection in the pocket even for a low rev bowler such as I. Swag is an up and coming brand that does not get the credit or attention that the big three of Storm, Brunswick and Motiv get. But that is changing. When I first started throwing Swag in my two centers in Arizona, was the only bowler doing so. Now between the two centers I would estimate there are close to 100 throwing the product with another center coming on line this year. This Black Dragon Hybrid is versatile, continuous and powerful. This Dragon Roars... Love this ball. First time out of the box shot 714 (65+ y/o). This Dragon completes the set for me fitting between the original Black Dragon and the Black Dragon Pearl. I find this ball very strong and to my liking. Color looks great going down the lane also. And this Dragon hits hard, throwing pins everywhere, excellent pin carry. Very controllable for me and love the strong move from the breakpoint to the pocket. Great ball for medium to heavy oil. I can play up the boards with it if called for and also swing the lanes if needed. Smooth, controllable, and strong motion of the spot that destroys the pins. I’ve used this ball on house shot and long and short sport shots. This ball does everything I need it to do and more. The scorch cover paired with the AP26 gets the ball to read in the midland but also keeps it on line to ease into the pocket. You can play up the lane and/or chase it inside and create some angle without giving up control of the pocket. Everyone needs a strong ball in their bag that you can control the pocket with, score well with, and use all the time and this ball can do it all for you for a long time. Definitely going to be a KEY piece in my arsenal for the foreseeable future.

Strongest Ball in the Black Dragon Series I have thrown all three Dragon balls released to date, and the Black Dragon Hybrid is definitely the overall strongest in the line. The added strength comes from the AP26 additive in the Scorch Hybrid cover stock, which creates a larger contact footprint between the ball and the lane. The Hybrid clears the front of the lane easier than the Black Dragon Solid. Like all Dragons, the core loads up energy through the midlane, but what really makes the Hybrid stand out is how aggressively it responds to friction on the back end. Late in my first five games of practice, throwing exclusively the Hybrid, I started leaving 9-pins as a right-handed bowler because of how strongly the ball was hooking off the back end. A simple adjustment with my feet fixed the issue. I don't think this will be a three-game ball for me in five-person league play. With more traffic on the right side of the lane, the oil pattern will break down sooner, and this ball definitely wants fresh oil. Once the lane starts to transition, you may need to make some significant adjustments to keep it under control. The strongest selling point of the Black Dragon Hybrid, however, is its performance compared to its price point. The MSRP sits in the mid-range compared to the current market, but the strength and overall performance are anything but mid-range. If you are looking to try SWAG for the first time, look no further. As a slightly rev dominant player with a very heavy roll, I tend to set a ball up with box finish for initial throws and let it lane shine. Then, bigger equipment will get sanded down to 500 or 1000 to test out what they look like at lower grits. After that, I will set it to where I ideally liked it and let it lane shine, only hitting it with surface again for really specific purposes. My stats: 18mph/~450rpm/low axis tilt/med-high axis rotation The Black Dragon Hybrid takes the original Dragon concept and beefs it up with the AP26 additive, making it an excellent strong option to create a 1-2 punch with the Serpent Hybrid (which is much cleaner and sharper). The Dragon Hybrid reads the fronts and midlane like a true 1-ball, without sacrificing backend continuation, keeping the Dragon backend shape, taking full advantage of the punchy AP26 additive reaction. SpeedDom bowlers will find this to be an excellent option at the top of the bag as a go-to option in most scenarios. Strong enough to read the fronts and midlane, this ball provides an excellent go-to option in most scenarios, especially when the biggest of bowling balls start needing a different look. RevDom bowlers will find this ball to be a perfect top of the bag when they don't need the biggest strength bowling balls, but want something versatile that can attack many different conditions when volume is present. This ball plays well going up the boards as well as moving inside. Especially for college bowlers or travel tournament bowlers looking to save space, this ball will fill many spots and be competitive for the higher rev crowd. The ball really surprised me! I wasn't expecting it to be as strong as it is. Being a no thumb one hander, I drilled this one up with a 4 1/2"x3 1/2"x 4 1/2" 2LS layout. I wanted it to have a good midlane read with a continuous motion. That is exactly what I got. It goes through the heads easily for being such a strong ball. It's nice and predictable once it hits the friction and if I keep my hand behind it I can still play in the friction without it over reacting. This has become the first ball out of my bag no matter where I'm bowling. I also tried shining it up to see if I could play straighter angles with it. That's not what I really wanted it for but wanted to see what would happen in case the situation calls for it and it performed beautifully. From what I've personally experienced with this ball, I believe it can be used successfully by any type of bowler. I haven't been disappointed at all with this ball.

When I drilled up my new Swag Black Dragon Hybrid, I was little comprehensive since I have been throwing the Serpent Hybrid (great ball on house shots) and I was unsure if this new ball would be that much different. WOW, was I surprised. The Black Dragon Hybrid reads the lanes so much better even using different lines/angles on the lane. I‘d say a good four to five boards stronger. As a middle aged bowler i have lost a little “hand” and speed my ability to move left has limitations (injuries etc). This Black Dragon Hybrid compensated for that big time. This ball even though it is controllable has moments where you see a reaction more of a skid/flip ball which in Swag you normally do not see. Don’t get me wrong, this reaction is not seen on every line i have used, but I will see it more often. Additionally, I can play a straighter when called for but the ball still finds a way into the pocket. If the outside is just too dry, and I play more on the inside where there is oil, I can use the oil to my benefit. The ball easily reads the lane and will have enough energy to plow through the pins. Which I attribute to the AP26 additive that was designed to grip the lanes and allows for better oil absorption Last but not least, the ball has enough shelf appeal that will attract interest whether it is on the ball return or on a pro shop's display wall.

I am a one handed/right-handed bowler with an avg speed between 17-18 mph. I stand around 22-25 and aim between 10-15 at the arrows. I am what some people call a Tweener. I used the 60 x 4.5 x 20 layout to allow me to have a smoother roll through the midlane and not skid past my target downlane, also transition from its hook phase to its roll phase very quickly once it hits the dry boards. It also allows my ball to have that strong, continuous angular snap back to the pocket. With the way I bowl and the layout on this ball I can open up the lane slightly but still let the ball work through the oil on the lane and make its move towards the pocket. Where I bowl I had to add a bit of polish to the 1500K surface, it was hooking early for me. This ball rolls great and reads the lanes and when it turns and hits the pocket, it hits really hard. Nice smooth motion through the midlane and a nice snap back off the spot.

I am a left-handed, one hand bowler. Speed between 14.5 - 16 mph, stroker. The Black Dragon Hybrid combines a strong midlane read with an absolutely monster backend motion. Compared to the original Black Dragon Solid, the Hybrid is noticeably cleaner through the front part of the lane, and has allowed me to play angles the solid would not. The Black Dragon Hybrid still gives me a very strong read through the midlane and saves plenty of energy for an aggressive and powerful move on the backend. For my game, the biggest advantage over the original Black Dragon Solid is that I can throw this ball longer into blocks and maintain the shape and continuation that I need. The Solid is great when I need it to read earlier, but the Hybrid gives me length and versatility on med length heavier volume patterns without sacrificing the strong overall motion that I expect from the Black Dragon line. If you're looking for a ball with a strong midlane presence, plenty of length, and a monster backend, the Black Dragon Hybrid is definitely a great option.

I also have the Black Dragon Solid and now with the Black Dragon Hybrid I have a one, two punch to start out on the fresh. I am what some people call a Tweener. All I got to say it's just wow!! I drilled this ball to have alot more roll in the back for transition is sport shots. And let me tell you this ball has alot of power along with shape. Out of box game 1 I shot 268 just trying to get a feel for the ball. It's a very strong piece that gets up early but has plenty of energy getting downlane. This ball is going to be very special

Where to start let’s get this out of the way first they say swag don’t hook well this thing can cover boards I can play anywhere on the lanes with this dragon hybrid the more games I get on her the more power I get out of the ball the continuous through the pins is unbelievable I drilled mine 20-3 1/2-20 yea I had a lot of questions why I drilled it like this and I wanted it to hook at my feet and move the most Down lane as well since I am a high speed and high rev player and it is doing exactly what I wanted it to do so if your looking for something that is going to get back to the pocket when you miss to the right this is the ball for you and if you niss to the left and it will hold throw the oil and makes the turn right in time looking like you threw a grenade at the pins

This is the ball I thought was released as the Serpent Hybrid earlier this year and boy was I wrong. This ball is a DRAGON, not a Serpent. The Serpent is a fantastic ball, one of the most versatile and predictable balls SWAG has released in my opinion, and one not likely leaving my bag anytime soon. The Black Dragon Hybrid is 6-8 boards stronger than the Serpent, reads the midlane much sooner and has the backend shape, continuation and power of the original Black Dragon. This thing is powerful, smooth and absolutely gorgeous going down the lane and through the pins. The AP26 hybrid coverstock in black & silver pearl is stunning. I have mine drilled with my standard drilling, 60 x 5” x 30, and it is just a slight step down from the Executioner, albeit a little cleaner, giving it a little bit of a different shape. It can handle the heavier and longer volumes of oil and it challenges the original Judge for strength, although the Judge has a more controllable shape. This one is a little more angular and reacts with a harder turn off the friction. If you liked the Black Dragon or Serpent, this one is a big step up from both.

The SWAG Dragon Hybrid is a seriously strong piece. Even with the hybrid cover sanded, this ball clears the fronts with ease and still has plenty of energy when it gets to the breakpoint. Once it sees the lane, it turns the corner and hits like a freight train. On a house shot, this ball definitely needs room to breathe. You have to give it plenty of room to climb the hill and get it to the friction off the pattern. But if you get it too far inside and it sees too much friction downlane, good luck keeping it on your side of the pocket. It is that strong and that responsive. This is not a ball I would be afraid to use when I need a lot of ball, but you better be ready to move left and give it some room.

The Black Dragon Hybrid is a BEAST! As a 230-average bowler with my ball speed and rev rate matched, I’m always looking for a ball that gives me a strong read without being too much. This ball delivers! It picks up the lane nicely through the fronts and mids, then makes a strong move off the breakpoint and keeps driving through the pins. When I hit the pocket, the Black Dragon Hybrid absolutely destroys the rack! What I really like is how much energy it carries through the pins. It doesn’t just roll into the pocket—it keeps going! I’ve had a lot of success using this ball when I need something stronger and more predictable, especially when the lanes have some oil and I need confidence in my reaction. This is definitely a ball that can make you feel comfortable and confident on the lanes. The Black Dragon Hybrid has earned a spot in my rotation!

The Black Dragon Hybrid combines a strong mid-lane read with an absolutely monster backend motion. Compared to the Fusion Hybrid which is a little bit more aggressive thru the mid-lane. The Black Dragon Hybrid still has plenty of energy stored for backend for bigger angles. This ball reacts like a Solid with backend of a Pearl. I’ve thrown it in a couple different houses and you have to keep it more inside of oil. When you get it outside in the friction it tends to over react leaving splits or going Brooklyn. The layout I put on mine is 35x3 3/4x5. The reason is to give me a better reaction on sport patterns and house conditions. I’ve thrown it at a couple different houses in my area. This ball is so controllable it skids thru the heads to your break point with plenty of energy thru the pins. When it hits the pocket it crushes the pins. I really like how it keeps the pins lower for better pin carry. If you love Hybrids you’re going to want this one in your bag. If you’re a high rev and speed dominant player and want a ball to get aggressive with well here you go. If you’re a low rev and speed player but still wanting a stronger backend this ball will do it for you. I’ve tried it out on a couple sport patterns like 48 to 50 foot played it straight and tight and ball reacted where others just skidded through.

This is my review of the SWAG Dragon Hybrid. My PAP is 4 3/4 and 0. Ball speed is 13 MPH and 370 RPM. I have this beauty set up at 40 x 4 1/2 x 40. The SWAG Dragon Hybrib would best be described as beautiful beast. Every time this ball is pulled out of my bag and hits the lanes, I get rave positive comments on the great color combination of Black/Grey with Brilliant Orange for the logo and the Dragon. Once the ball is on the lanes the comments turn to WOW that is a beast! My best look so far on the lanes have been on longer patterns, lower friction lane surfaces, and or lanes with carry down. The AP26 infused cover really show its worth in the Dragon Hybrid, when it changes direction down lane, it is noticeable in a very positive way. The down lane shape is defined without being a hockey stick motion and goes thru the pins/pocket the correct way. Like the entire Dragon series from SWAG, this ball lives up to its name sake, you will not be disappointed when you purchase this or all of the Dragon line. Looks great and performs better! Pennywise coming to you to speak about the amazingness that is the Dragon hybrid. The ap 26 takes this asym to the next level. This ball reads unlike traditional asyms with the additive we see more of a mid lane read with a very strong motion down lane. It reads friction smoothly creating space to make your movements to enhance your scoring results. Compared to the previous dragon pearl and the dragon solid we see more drive on the back end due to the ap26 more traction through the oil and creates more a continuous roll with less deflection. This ball is a great benchmark ball into the swag line, easy to read, adjust, and continue to develop. Layout is essential on this ball with it being a hybrid you have the ability to adjust the ball to fit your needs. Early, later whatever you are comfortable with this ball will give you the ability to get a read on what’s on the lane and adjust accordingly.

For all of you Dragon lovers this is THE ball. As with the other dragons, its an asymmetric ball with the dragon core, the dfference with this one it has the AP26 cover and makes it just that much more aggressive. I have all of my dragons laid out exactly the same and they are the best 1-2-3 punch on the market. The solid is smooth, the pearl is long and snappy and now this Hybrid is the best of both worlds. It gets through the fronts so smooth, to the break point and comes off hard. Overall would say this is a tad more aggressive then the other 2 just do the new coverstock but its still so controllable. The looks of it alone makes it worthy of any bag, the smokey black and grey look with the bright orange logo is just a stand out piece. If you have never thrown a SWAG ball and looking to start this would be a great place to start for any level of bowler.

Another great ball from the SWAG Dragon line. This ball is great for the low rev high speed bowler that may need help getting to the pocket with power. This ball gets good length down lane but when it hits the friction, its turn on your left turn signal. Or right turn signal if left handed. The power and continuation through the pins is second to none. You can actually see the ball still churning as it goes through the pins and off the back of the lane. With the new AP26 additive to the cover stock, this ball really performs. So if you are looking for a ball that will help you get to the pocket if your a low rev or high speed player, give this ball a try. It’s a great ball at a great price point. Dare to be different. I recently added the Dragon Hybrid to my arsenal and have enjoyed throwing this ball. I wasn't sure what to expect at first, but after getting it out on the lanes, I was pleasantly surprised. The ball rolls really nice and gives me a good amount of movement as it gets closer to the pins. It also has a nice strong hit when it gets to the pocket. What I like most about this ball is how smooth and predictable it is. It gives me confidence when I step up to the approach, and I feel like I can trust it to do what I want it to do. It has been a great addition to my Swag lineup, and I look forward to getting more games on it. Overall, I'm really happy with the Swag Dragon Hybrid. If you're looking for a ball that rolls nice, hits hard, and gives you a reaction you can trust, this is definitley one worth checking out. I'm glad I added it to my bag and can't wait to see what else I can do with it!

Another great ball from the SWAG Dragon line. Great look and great colors. This ball would be excellent for a low rev or high ball speed player who needs help getting to the pocket. Ball gets very good length. When it hits the friction, hit your left turn signal. Or right if you are a left hander. The motion and drive off the friction is tremendous. The continuation through the pocket is amazing. With the new AP26 additive to the cover, the motion is just amazing. So if you are looking for a ball that has great movement throughout the lane and you need help getting to the pocket, The Dragon Hybrid may be the ball you are looking for. Dare to be different. The ball we have all been waiting for is finally here—the Swag Dragon Hybrid! In my opinion, this ball has everything it takes to become a true benchmark ball and a must-have for any serious bowler. I have had the opportunity to use the Dragon Hybrid on both sport patterns and typical house shots, and it has impressed me on both. The ball reads the spot extremely well, continues through the midlane with strong, predictable motion, and absolutely crushes the pocket when it gets there. What I really like is how versatile this ball is and how easily I can adjust my line while still getting a strong reaction. The Dragon Hybrid is also the perfect compliment to the Dragon Solid and Dragon Pearl, giving bowlers another option when they need something right between the two. Swag has definitely put together another winner with the Dragon Hybrid!

The Black Dragon Hybrid surprised me in a really good way. I drilled mine 65 x 5 x 40 and expected it to be one of the earliest and strongest pieces in my bag because of the asymmetrical core. What I actually got was a ball that was much cleaner through the front of the lane than I expected while still giving me plenty of strength and continuation downlane. It never felt overly aggressive or jumpy. The motion was smooth, controlled and very readable. I started league with it in my first set and shot 205 scratch with it right away. As the lane changed, it eventually became a little too clean for the look I wanted, but that honestly showed me how versatile this ball can be. It has the core strength to handle oil without feeling like it wants to burn up too early. For me, the Black Dragon Hybrid is going to be a great option when I want asymmetrical strength but still want a smooth, controllable shape. It gives me more engine without forcing me into a motion I am not comfortable with. Strong core, cleaner than expected and very continuous through the pins. A really versatile asymmetrical hybrid and a great piece for both league and tougher conditions.

Swag Black Dragon Hybrid Style: Traditional Righty Rev Rate: 450 Speed: 17mph Layout: 60x4x20 One of my favorite Swag balls is the original Black Dragon. I was super stoked when I found out there was gonna be a hybrid version. The Black Dragon Hybrid gave me some length with the same midlane read as the original one. It is a little sharper on the backend. I’ve had many compliments on the color scheme and how well it looks on the lane. I prefer this ball with lane shine to be honest. I like how snappy it can get with more shiny and how smooth it is with more surface. This piece is very versatile with the many different surfaces you can apply to the cover. I do have to say that this ball needs a bit of oil though. I’ve used this on 3 different sports patterns and have been able to score well on all of them. Overall, the best thing about this ball is the versatility of its coverstock. Give it shine or give it surface. Regardless, you will be on the pocket more than you expect.

It took me about 12 games at different houses to truly u understand this ball. I can sometimes overpower a ball that reads too early or get into trouble when a strong solid doesn’t want to clear the fronts. The Black Dragon Hybrid gives me a really nice middle ground. It picks up the lane earlier than my pearls, but it doesn’t feel like it’s burning up in the front. What I really like is the combination of the 1500 Abralon finish, hybrid cover, and Dragon Asymmetric Core. I get a strong read through the midlane, but there’s still enough energy stored for the backend. For my game, that creates a reaction that is strong, continuous, and predictable. This is a ball I can use when the lanes have enough oil that I need something stronger, but I don’t necessarily want to jump all the way into my most aggressive equipment such as the Executioner . The Black Dragon Hybrid also gives me the ability to move deeper as the pattern develops. That’s important for me because with my rev rate, I need a ball that can handle me opening my angles without quitting when it gets to the pins. For my arsenal, I’d consider this a heavy/medium-heavy oil piece and a great benchmark when I need to see what the lane is giving me. It’s stronger and earlier than myFusion Pearl, but the hybrid cover gives me more recovery and versatility than a straight solid. This ball gives me confidence to move left, trust the shape, and let the ball do the work.
