Bowlers Say
Bowlers praise the Tropical Surge as an excellent beginner ball with gentle hook that's easy to control on dry to medium oil conditions. Many appreciate the pleasant vanilla scent and affordable price point, though some note the random color patterns can be hit-or-miss and performance is limited compared to high-end equipment.

great ball so far, loving it. i’m a beginner and this was said to be a good ball for beginners and that it was!
I knew buying this online there was a chance I wouldn’t like the color/design. But this one was really disappointing. The swirling was awful. The ball I received was mostly black with a big glob of blue on one side and some other smaller swirls on the other side. The smell was awesome, but in the end I wanted to love my ball and I just didn’t so I returned it. Thankful they have a great return policy.
great ball i just started bowling but for my ball i would say it’s a great option
Not a great bowler, not the best ball. That's why i got this ball. It's cheaper, looks cool, and I love the smell. The small was stronger than I anticipated which is a good thing. I'm pretty sure the pattern on the ball is random, and some aren't that good, but I got a heart on mine so that's cool.
I honestly don’t see a difference in this particular ball than high-end balls. Just the pink and black though . That color scheme seems to be really good for them.
I gave it four stars because it has a nice gentle hook that is very easy to control on dry to medium lanes. I ONLY gave it four stars because it is a beginner's ball and is NOT going to bless you with a 900 series anytime soon. This is why it costs $95 and this is why it only worth $95. I have bowled about a hundred games with mine. Beautiful Green color, Vanilla smell, but I don't get many strikes. Could be me. Could be the ball, but I get a ton of easy to pick up spares with it. I bowl between 150 and 175, rarely more or less, and with my sixty pin handicap, this makes me a great teammate. Do the math, I am between 210 and 235 now, but as my average goes up and my handicap goes down, I will want and find it necessary to step up to something more aggressive. Bottom Line Conclusion: If you are a beginner or are just getting back into the game after a long layoff like I am, This ball will let you have some hook like the big dogs run with, while affording you enough control to avoid the embarrassing gutter dusters you are guarantied to get if you rush out and grab a $300 asymmetrical with a sandpaper smooth cover stock. And if this really is your first time to bowl with a non-house ball, you are going to love it . . . eventually. Just be prepared to bowl at least four or five practice games a week rather than getting your practice in during league play. I remember something my high school bowling coach told me. "Son, unless you are incredibly gifted, any hooker you pick up is going to require a payment from you. You either pay for it by spending a little practice time, or you will pay for it in missed pins on league night."
Great ball for light oil conditions, or playing straighter! You can adjust the surface for an earlier read!
Super great first ball. Service with the store was amazing and fast. Core isn’t to aggressive just right for someone learning how to hook a ball.
I am learning two handed and this ball has made me get so many strikes I love it
Was struggling in consistency due to using the balls the alley provided. Buying this ball as a starter ball was honestly a great idea. Ive been way more consistant and started learning techniques way faster.
