Brunswick Energize Review
Powerful asymmetric hybrid built for heavy volume and strong continuation through the pins. RG 2.47. $194.95. Video reviews inside.
What's up, guys? Welcome back to the Brunswick social media pages. And today, we have the all-new Brunswick Energize. And my comparison ball, actually, the Brunswick Vaporize, what I think might be the closest to this new Energize that we got. It's a hybrid performance ball, just like the Vaporize and the Hypnotize and the Mesmerize. Same core as all of those bowling balls, just with an updated cover stock. So, let's get a couple shots going down the lane, and then I'll show you how it compares to the Vaporize. Oh, feels tacky. Feels like it's going to hook.
Oh, really good shot. That was my like first ever shot with the ball. I hadn't thrown a single shot of practice. No warm-up, no nothing. Well, I did warm up, but it was with some other bowling balls. Not that one. So, first shot six pin. Love the way it looks. It's It's not super sharp like the vaporize was for me. The vaporize almost became a little harder to use on those house shots. For me, I felt like I would have to throw it really hard to kind of kill some of the down lane reaction where this one actually is just a touch smoother than the vaporize, but definitely not nearly as smooth as the hypnotize.
I'll move a little left. I rolled that nice. And I really missed that one with the hand a bunch. So, let's get one more shot where I throw it really good and then I'll throw and compare it to my vaporize. But right now, I'm loving the way I look. I think it's going to be mega versatile. Um, not too sharp, not too early. It's right in the middle of those balls where it's clean, but it doesn't go crazy down lane or crazy in the front part of lane. It's a ball that I feel like I can control with my hand, with my ball speed, and
just it doesn't fit any part of the lineup that I think is going to make it hard for anybody to use. Let's get around this one a little bit and see what happens. Perfect strike. That one was money. That one was money. That was shot number three. My third shot ever with that ball. I absolutely loved it. I think the vaporize is going to be much more down lane than that ball. So, I'll give you one shot with the vaporize and we'll see what happens. I believe it should hook more down lane. Much cleaner through the
fronts. [Music] Yeah. Way more down lane hook. Way more down lane hook. So, let's get one more shot with this Energize to end it. And I'll show you guys why I think this Energize is going to be one of the more versatile pieces. House shot sport shot. I'm definitely going to be able to bring it anywhere I go. So, if it's in the tournament bag or the house shot bag like I talk about on my channels, this is going to be in both. I can throw it on the house shots cuz it's clean, still retain some of the energy to go through the pins. And I'm going to bring it to
tournaments cuz it doesn't do anything crazy. It's a very predictable motion that I like to see and I know many different styles of bowlers will like to see as well. So, let's get one more shot with the Energize. Oh, got a Rack. Yeah. And the V the vaporized didn't out hook this ball. It just hooked way sharper down lane. So, it was, you know, 3 or 4 feet cleaner and jumped off the pattern where this one nice and arcy, nice and smooth. Love plenty of energy to go through the pin still.
Boom. That was my allnew Energize. you saw, very smooth, very predictable. Um, even when I threw some shots that weren't so good, still hit the pocket, still gave myself a chance to strike. And for all of you guys out wondering out there how I laid mine out, I laid mine out with a 75 by 4 and 3/4 in pin by 60° angle. So, that is my Energize. And maybe you guys want to lay yours out, too. But either way, follow along the Brunswick channels, whether on Facebook, YouTube, or Instagram. Performance Analysis
Performance Analysis
Testing revealed the Brunswick Energize to be a notably aggressive asymmetric reactive hybrid that delivers strong backend motion on house patterns. Independent reviewers observed significant hook development, particularly in the midlane-to-backend transition, with the ball generating measurable differential compared to Brunswick’s Combat model on the same house shot. The shiny reactive hybrid coverstock out of the box produced sharp angular motion that, while powerful, required careful speed and line management to optimize. On fresh oil conditions, the ball demonstrated tendency toward over-under reaction when released slightly off-target, suggesting the factory finish may benefit from surface adjustment for improved predictability.
The testing protocol included direct comparison bowling against the Combat—a cleaner, more controlled asymmetric option—which provided useful baseline data. Reviewers found the Energize transitioned more aggressively downlane, making it better suited for later game play after oil had broken down and migrated toward the right side of the lane. Initial 10-shot evaluation on a fresh house pattern showed the ball worked best when testers adjusted positioning and reduced hand action, as aggressive releases exacerbated the ball’s strong hook characteristics. Surface adjustment to approximately 2000-grit was noted as a practical modification to smooth out the aggressive motion without sacrificing core strength.
Who Is This Ball For?
The Energize targets bowlers seeking a heavy-oil workhorse that handles friction-rich conditions with authority. This is an ideal choice for higher-speed players or those needing stronger backend recovery on heavily oiled patterns—particularly in competitive or sport-shot environments where ball motion must cut through dense oil and still make the pocket. Bowlers upgrading from milder asymmetric options and wanting measurably more hook angle will find this ball delivers the aggression they’re seeking.
Conversely, this ball is not recommended as a game-one option for fresh house shots, nor for bowlers who prefer smoother, more predictable motion or struggle with fine-tuning release consistency. League bowlers with moderate speed or those bowling early in a shift on house patterns should consider smoother alternatives. The Energize shines when oil conditions transition—making it best suited for second-game play or fresh medium-heavy oil conditions where its aggressive core and hybrid cover can be optimized rather than fought against.

The new Brunswick Energize is the Hybrid ball you have been looking for, that fits perfectly in your arsenal! Besides this ball looking incredible rolling down the lane with its multiple colors, this ball complements the Brunswick Mesmerize exceptionally well. Like most hybrids, the Brunswick Energize blends the lanes conditions to provide bowlers with a consistent ball motion shape and motion through the pins. I drilled the new Energize 50x4.5x35 to compliment the new Alert. The Energize will move much earlier than the Alert on heavier oil conditions. This layout allows for a VERY predictable and smooth roll on any condition that is very controllable and predictable. Wrapped in HK22, the new Brunswick Energize is that hybrid you need in your bag!
BALL SPECS Ball Weight: 15 lbs DRILL PATTERN Ball: 55 x 4.5 x 35 BOWLER STYLE Rev Rate: 375 rpms Ball Speed:17.5 mph off hand PAP/Track: 4 5/8 over 3/4 up SURFACE PREP Grit: 4000 Grit BALL REACTION Length: Late Midlane Hook Back End: Hard Arc COMMENTS: The Energize is the hybrid version of the very popular Vaporize. This ball reads the friction sooner and handles oil better than the Vaporize. The Energize seems to work best earlier in the night on patterns with oil present. This one fits in perfectly between the Hypnotize and the Vaporize. It could also be the quicker response ball for some bowlers who are speed dominant. It is versatile. You can play all over the lane with this one as long as there is enough oil present to get the proper length. Energize your versatility with the Brunswick Energize!
I love the Brunswick Energize. Straight out of the box I won a 5-game Senior scratch sweeper with this ball averaging over 240. Right there I would give this ball a good review, but there was something very familiar about this shape this ball created. A couple years ago my favorite go to ball was the Track Theorem. They are both shiny hybrids, the RG, Differential, & Asymmetry are very, very close to each other. No wonder I like it. The core shapes are close as well. I love this ball because it is clean thru the front and strong down lane with lots of power at the pins. And I already know it is a moneymaker. :-)
The Brunswick Energize is in a class all of its own. With the Hypnotize cover and the vaporize core, it reads the lane extremely well. It has an early, smooth reaction and finishes strong. This ball allows me to open up the lane on the fresh without giving up pocket angle.
