Performance Analysis

Performance Analysis

Testing revealed the Storm Revenant to be a notably cleaner, more controlled performer compared to Storm’s Absolute on a typical 44-foot house shot. The ball’s symmetrical core and reactive pearl coverstock produced a smoother, more rounded ball motion through the front of the lane with less aggressive hook than comparable stronger pieces in the Storm lineup. On the test pattern, the Revenant demonstrated excellent control through the midlanes, allowing bowlers to play straighter lines in the 10-11 board range without overreacting to friction. Independent reviewers observed that the ball’s behavior differed distinctly from higher-flare asymmetrical counterparts—it prioritized consistency and predictability over sharp angular motion, making it easier to execute precision shots when lane conditions demanded a more finesse-based approach.

The Revenant’s defining characteristic emerged as its ability to maintain composure in heavier oil conditions. Testing showed the ball doesn’t exhibit an allergic reaction to oil, but it requires deliberate hand pressure to generate reaction in heavily oiled midlane areas. Reviewers noted the pearl coverstock maintains its clean downlane motion even when floating through burned-in oil patterns, a trait that positions this ball as a reliable workhorse rather than a reactive aggressive piece. Shot-to-shot consistency proved strong; the ball tracked predictably to target and delivered reliable pin action when bowlers matched their line to the lane’s friction profile. The one caveat observed was that the Revenant doesn’t generate explosive back-end motion, making it less suitable for bowlers seeking sharp, angular recovery moves.

Who Is This Ball For?

The Storm Revenant is ideal for bowlers seeking a controlled, symmetrical pearl that performs best on medium to medium-heavy oil conditions without demanding extreme revolutions or hand speed. This ball works particularly well for competitors and league bowlers who value precision over power—players who need a dependable piece for burnt-up house patterns, challenging oil conditions, or situations where floating the ball down the lane cleanly matters more than generating aggressive hook. The ball’s smooth, rounded motion makes it an excellent choice for bowlers transitioning from weaker to moderate-strength equipment, or those building a competitive bag who need a versatile symmetrical option between their heavy-oil and drier-lane pieces.

This ball is less suitable for power players expecting aggressive, angular motion or for those bowling primarily on fresh, lighter oil patterns where more reactive performance would be advantageous. The Revenant rewards bowlers with solid fundamentals and repeatable mechanics—if you prioritize ball control and consistency over reactivity, or if you’re competing in conditions where lane management and finesse drive strikes, this is a strong addition to your arsenal.

Bowlers Say

Bowlers say the Revenant successfully replaces the banned Spectre with identical R3S pearl coverstock and Vector core. It's clean through the heads with smooth, continuous backend motion. Most effective on medium to lighter oil conditions and lane transition periods. Works best for rev-challenged bowlers and those needing to create angle.

For those who loved the Spectre we have the Revenant. Same cover/core as the Spectre although the Revenant has the new Reacta Gloss finish. When the lanes really begin to hook early the Revenant will be a great option to go to that will clear the fronts and provide plenty of continuation down lane. I see the Revenant being a step down off of the Fate.

Storm Revenant Layout: 4 x 4 x 2.25 Storm Pin Buffer Layout Rev Rate: 325 rpm, 7 degree of axis tilt, 40 degree of axis rotation Testing information: 41 foot THS (medium to light volume) Bowling Center: Fulton Bowling Center Kegel Machine – Brunswick Anvilane The Storm Revenant utilizes the Vector core and R3S pearl reactive coverstock. This is my most anticipated releases in some time. I have been wanting a replacement for the Spectre. From what I saw, the Revenant is longer than the Spectre but still a special ball. We compared the Storm Absolute to the new Storm Revenant. The Revenant stored energy better and was sharper on the back-end compared to the Absolute. The Revenant is a stronger version of a Hy-Road in my opinion. I was able to do something with the Revenant that I have never done. I went out a put an honor score with it the second game I threw it. I was able to shoot 300 in my Monday Night League. As you may guess, the Revenant already has a special place in my heart and bowling bag. Visit your local Storm VIP Pro Shop! #Stormnation #SquadRG

Layout: 5 x 3.5 x 2.5 Surface: Reacta Gloss Rev Rate: 470 Tilt: 8* Speed: 17mph The New Storm Revenant brings back the same core/coverstock combination from the recently USBC banned Spectre but with the new Reacta Gloss Finish. I found a very similar overall shape to the Spectre but with the Reacta Gloss Finish, I found the Revenant to be a slighty smoother shape overall. The higher RG value of 2.54 gives me a little too much length for my style on both the house and sport patterns. With my house pattern being 44ft, it is hard to be able to use a ball that gives a lot of length within a 3-game set. The Revenant will be a really good late game ball in a longer tournament format or where the lanes are hooking a lot more than I am used to in my current league environment. Comparing the Revenant to the brand-new Absolute, I saw about a 4 board weaker motion and significantly more length throughout the whole lane. In order to see closer ball motion, I changed the surface of the Revenant to 2000 abralon. This gave me stronger ball motion and earlier hook where I needed to see it. Depending on your style, the Revenant should allow you to stay in the same zone on the lane where you were using a stronger ball due to its overall length. Those with higher rev rates will definitely see a skid flip reaction that is generally desired. Those with lower rev rates might face a challenge seeing this one hook in the right part of the lane. A surface adjustment or buying the stronger Fate would likely be a better alternative.

Storm Revenant - Thunder Line Coverstock: R3S Pearl - Reacta Gloss Core: Vector RG: 2.54 Differential: .050 (15 lbs) Layout: 5 x 5 x 2 PAP: 6" Right, 1 3/8" Up Axis Tilt: 16° Rotation: 51° Rev Rate: 450-500 Speed: 17-18 mph Location: AMF Pin-O-Rama, Utica, NY Pattern: Kegel Main Street V2 The Revenant has risen and it’s bringing back a core/cover combination that was extremely popular in the Spectre. The design intent was to create a ball that will appeal to fans of the Hy-Road and Trend series, but were looking for something in between. The Revenant gives me a great look during league starting at 16-17 at the arrows with my breakpoint around 7-8. The Revenant will be an excellent ball to start with on lighter conditions and the second/third ball out of the bag on medium to heavy conditions as the lanes transition. Tournament bowlers will love how easily it clears the fronts and doesn’t jump too hard off the friction. Within my arsenal, it fits between my Fate and Night Road, but is cleaner and smoother than both. If you are a fan of the original Hy-Road or were waiting for a replacement for the Spectre, Revenant is here! Stop by your local Storm VIP pro shop to check it out! Storm Revenant Coverstock: R3S Pearl Reactive Coverstock Core: Vector Factory Finish: Reacta Gloss Layout: 4 x 3 x 2 Revenant is defined as, “one that returns after death, or a long absence.” The Revenant is essentially the long awaited return of the Spectre, as it has the exact core/cover combination as the Spectre. I do see Spectre characteristics in the Revenant but I think the new out of box Reacta Gloss finish increases how clean the Revenant is compared to the Spectre out of box. The Revenant glides through the heads with ease but doesn’t seem to wiggle down lane in the oil, which is awesome on those misses inside. I see the Revenant as a bit stronger HyRoad Pearl and that logical step up from the Electrify line. I have thrown the Revenant at a couple of bowling centers on very different THS patterns. At one particular house, I find it hard to blend the lane with shiny balls. The Revenant was clean like my Phaze 5 but seemed to retain more energy and continue harder on the backend. Compared to my Fate, the Revenant is a nice step down. Based on what I have seen, the new Revenant will excel in bowling centers with a lot of hook built into the pattern/lane (wood, high friction synthetics, etc.) and for bowlers with slower ball speeds and/or heavier handed bowlers… And, it smells great (Bear Claw).
