[Music] CEO Ronald Hitler from Creating the Difference. Today we're going to talk about the brand new DV8 hater pearl. This ball features HK22C Havoc Pearl. That means smells like oranges. This is their strongest cover stock that they make to date. Has the hater core shape in it. RG2.539 differential 0.054. This ball's got a strong mass bias at 0.024. Finished with Crown Factory compound scan right at 5,000. Check the hardness
on it. It was right at 74. It's a fast absorbing bowling ball layout. And the layout is 60x 4 1/2 by 30. Chris, what do you think about the hater pearl? I think the ladies going to like the way this ball looks. I think uh that purple and pink is just a a real popular thing that DV8 likes to do. And I think it looks all right. Well, let's see what the Hander Pearl is all about right now.
First shot doesn't count. It's kind of crazy cuz your shirt kind of matched that ball too. Hey man, like I mean you're right. You're right. You're right. It kind of matches a little bit. She hooked a little bit. Y hooked. Yeah, she hooked a little bit. I mean, that first shot doesn't count as real. Like, you got to let some oil get on the ball so you can really see what it does. You know what I'm saying? If you really want
to make a a reading of the ball, continuous. Continuous. Not quite angular, right? Like, it's kind of borderline, but it's continuous. It's continuous. I think it only looks like it might be angular cuz it looks like it's polished a little. Like I think if it wasn't shiny, it would hook a little earlier and be much smoother.
I felt like I knew that one was going straight. Um, it does have a continuous feel to it though. But I think that's the hallmark of a continuous ball. You throw a good shot and you know what it's going to do. True. You're like, "Yep, that one's going to strike." Which is not a bad thing. [Music] Let's show you what 054 differential looks like. Chris, what do you think
about this ball, man? You know, I think this is why the people who like DV8 like DV8 balls because they make balls that just, you know, they're not offensive to nobody, right? I think it's a real good shape and it it rolls good and it's usable. You can see right there. Lock 54. Most you can do is 60. Nobody goes over 58. I mean, I think it hooks a lot,
right? Oh, roll it. Let me get that. That shot wasn't that different than the last one. It was a little steeper. Little steeper. Little steeper through it. Let's go left. But but that's what I mean. Like I just think that like that's kind of what DBA does a lot of times. They just got a ball that just, you know, just a good ball. It's not. That ain't going to work. Got to be a a lot lot straighter. But you got to
get it to left a little bit, too. Yeah. I mean, I think you could throw that ball away just a little bit. Yeah. Yep. Cuz it's pretty strong. I think it's fine. It's uh it we're going to knock the service off of it, but I feel like it's a pretty versatile piece. It'll work for pretty much most styles of play. Yeah. I mean, I feel like anybody could kind of drill this ball and have success with it. Yeah.
I feel like lots of styles of play this ball would work for. Um, let's get the c Let's get the shine off of it. See how it rolls then. I mean, I know I said I wanted shine off of it, but I kind of feel like it rolls good just like it is. What you think, Chris? I mean, I think it look good. I mean, I think if you if you take the polish off, it's just going to make it earlier and hook less down lane. So, I
think it's going to flat seven if you take the polish off. I mean, I know I take the polish off of it, but I mean, Chris, I don't know. Like, I'm tell I just think it's a allaround like good ball. Like, it's a ball that looks good on the shelf. It'll appeal to a lot of people, especially if you like purple. And it rolls good. So, I mean, it's just like that's why I say it's not offensive to anybody. It just looks good. Rolls good. If it fits, it
ships. Oh, baby. We're not done striking yet. I think we got just I I'm going to keep going back and forth, right? I'm throwing it straighter and then I'm hooking it. I'm throwing it straighter and I'm hooking it. Just kind of seeing. Yeah, that one hooked a little early. It did. Maybe you touched it a little at the bottom. It did. Yeah, that one hooked a little early. It's got to hook a lot. Ooh, and it does. Yes. Yeah, I knew that one was going to come back. I think we need a strike counter, Patrick. I mean, he's
got to have like a 67 bagger here. One more time. Oh, sorry. Okay, we'll knock the service off of it. I think this ball's pretty good uh out the box. Definitely got some versatility to it from where you can play angles with it to make it work. All right, 4,000 is the new number. That's what we're working with.
So, let's see. Still sharks, Chris. And it was more angular than I thought it was going to be, but the first shot don't count. First shot don't count. That's scary. If it it Let's see what happens this time. All right. That's what I thought. It was going to flat seven. Flat seven.
Flat seven. Flatty flatty flat 7. Then let's throw another one. Let's throw another one. We can do it. Yeah, it's definitely not driving as hard now. So, I mean, I think you'll throw a bunch of strikes, but I think now instead of like leaving that six pin, you're going to flat seven, which isn't a bad thing.
You can see it's not Yeah. So just it's just it's just a little smoother. It's just smoother. All right, man. Look. So you got more information now about this DV8 header pearl. Performance Analysis
Performance Analysis
Independent testing revealed the DV8 Hater Pearl to be a highly aggressive backend reactive that demands proper oil volume to perform optimally. When tested on the PBA’s Crown Jewel pattern, the ball demonstrated exceptional continuation through the mid-lane and a dramatic, angular back-end reaction characteristic of its high-differential asymmetric core (RG 2.539, differential .054). On fresh oil, the ball proved challenging in tighter house conditions, with testers noting the hook window initiates quickly and sharply—a trait that created overangular reactions when targeting boards closer to the pocket. However, once adequate oil was present, the ball’s performance transformed significantly. Testing showed the Hater Pearl shined when bowlers opened their angles from the left side of the approach, allowing the pearl coverstock to skid through the front portion of the lane before engaging aggressively in the friction zone. The ball’s pin action was consistently powerful, with multiple strikes resulting in flush pocket hits and immediate nine-pin exit.
Surface adjustments proved valuable during testing. The pearl finish’s reactivity could be modified through technique—varying ball speed, loft, and swing path all noticeably influenced break point location and hook intensity. Testers found that increasing speed and utilizing wider angles produced the most predictable, controllable motion. The ball responded particularly well on heavier oil patterns where it could maintain skid length before transitioning to its strong angular backend motion. For bowlers with the rev rate and delivery speed to control such aggressive asymmetrics, this ball delivered consistently destructive results, especially in the deeper oil portions of the lane.
Who Is This Ball For?
The DV8 Hater Pearl is best suited for experienced bowlers with moderate-to-high rev rates who regularly bowl on medium-heavy oil patterns and house conditions with decent carry-down. This ball rewards aggressive angles and higher ball speed; bowlers who favor opening up their swing and playing straighter will find the Hater Pearl’s continuous backend motion easier to manage than those who prefer to play tighter lines. It’s an excellent choice for competitive bowlers seeking a strong asymmetric option that can handle medium-heavy oil without over-reading friction on the backends.
Conversely, this ball is not recommended for beginners or strokers bowling on dry house conditions. The aggressive hook window and quick direction change can feel unpredictable on shorter oil patterns, and bowlers with lower rev rates may struggle to generate the necessary axis rotation to fully unlock the core’s potential. Intermediate bowlers should approach this ball cautiously until they’ve developed the speed control and angle management needed to harness its backend aggression effectively.
The Pros
- • Perfect 10.0 backend rating — the most angular ball in DV8's current lineup
- • Asymmetric Hater Core with .054 differential and .024 intermediate differential generates massive flare
- • Devastating pin action at 9.6 — the entry angle and energy retention are exceptional
- • High 2.53 RG stores energy deep into the lane before an explosive change of direction
- • Impressive value at $159.95 for a ball with this level of performance
The Cons
- • Extreme backend motion is difficult to control — not for bowlers who need predictability
- • Limited versatility (7.5) means this ball has a narrow window of ideal conditions
- • Two-handers and high-rev players may find the reaction unmanageable without surface changes

First custom ball ever owned. Never bowled over 120 with house ball. First night with this ball bowled a 6 bagger, 7 strikes in total for 197. Also never even bowled more than a turkey before that night
I actually had to hit the surface of this ball with a 3000 pad to take the shine off. It was too responsive to friction. That said, this is still a skid-flip BEAST of a ball. I'm super impressed with how far left I can stand and watch this thing peel around the corner. Even with a lightly sanded cover, it's still clean enough to glide through the front of the lane with ease and make a big sweeping motion downlane. LOVE IT!
This ball is doing what I wanted. I needed to go down in weight because of age and arthritis in shoulder. Needed something that would hook without much effort for league.
