Hammer Black Widow 2.0 Hybrid Review

The Hammer Black Widow 2.0 Hybrid is pretty special. When Brunswick came out with the Defender Hybrid with the HK22 cover formula I thought, "wow, this is awesome." Now Hammer has pieced together a cover and core combination that I like even more. This ball is cleaner than the BW2.0 and is very strong off the pattern. I used to have nightmares about flat 10 pins. With the BW2.0 Hybrid my biggest worry is solid 9 pins as this ball digs right past it and tackles the 8. It is a house shot & pattern killer as I've done well with it on both. You don't want to miss this one.

I drilled my Black Widow 2.0 Hybrid the same as my Black Widow 2.0 and Black Widow Ghost, which is a 60 x 4 x 30, pin up layout. For me, the 2.0 Hybrid is a little earlier and has a more rounded shape down lane than the BW Ghost. I have been able to use it on my medium oiled league shots without modifying the factory surface and has been a great step down ball from the Hammer Envy Tour. I feel like this ball will fit in every type of bowlers bag! It’s a must own!

I was able to punch up the new Hammer Black Widow Hybrid 2.0- the latest addition to the iconic line of Hammer bowling equipment. The Widow Hybrid 2.0 features the proven asymmetric gas mask core wrapped by the Aggression Hybrid cover with the HK-22 additive designed to enhance ball motion on oil. The color is a vibrant red and black and factory finish is Crown Compound. The videos were shot on fresh Kegel Neon which is our THS. The layout is 45 x 5 x 30. The intent of the new Black Widow Hybrid 2.0 was to be a little stronger motion than the Widow Ghost. For comparison purposes, I threw a shot of a Widow Ghost with a similar layout. Compared to the Ghost, the Hybrid 2.0 moved me a little further left, looked at the same approximate spot at the arrows and as a result, opened the angles a little more. The Hybrid 2.0 showed, from what I saw, a fairly quick response off the friction. The comparison videos show the difference between the 2 Widows. They are close but I do see a difference. The Widow Ghost made a number of telecasts last year and I expect that the Hybrid 2.0 will follow with equal success. Like all prior Widows, I expect many different styles, speeds, rev rates etc. will find success with this ball. My sense is even with the shinier surface, the Widow Hybrid 2.0 will be at its best on medium to higher volume patterns. I expect that depending on layout, a variety of pattern distances will be in play. The Widow Hybrid 2.0 is readily available. See your local pro shop for more information.

Been waiting for the right black release again. I have the original pink black widow, the ghost was just a copy of it in my opinion but got bought more unlike the pink and then they also had the 2.0 release wasn't feeling it so skipped it and then the crappy pink urethane black widow, im not a fan of urethane. I have the purple hammer and am good with it just prefer others over it. When this thing popped up I had to have it. Got a 696 series first outing with a crappy first game. The wicked backend hook it has for me took a moment to adjust to. Had to speed up my throw and add more power but when I got there. I hit all night long. My pink ball has had a lot of wear and tear and has been my go to since it's release in 19. Time to put it on a shelf and bowl occasionally with it.

This ball checks up, flips and then hits like a freight train. You will need to have the ability to throw a little faster than your normal speed be be able to move a couple of boards. 189 average bowler hit a 648 series right out of the box. This ball HAS NOT disappointed at all in the 14 games I have used it.

The new Black Widow 2.0 Hybrid with the new HK 22 is the best of both worlds. The famous Gas Mask core and HK 22 cover creates the best ball motion from a Black Widow ball to date. This new widow is real close to the Original BW Pearl from years past. The HK 22 Hybrid cover picks up in the midlane and his VERY angular and continuous downlane. I have used the new Widow on heavy to medium lane conditions(Sport and House patterns) The widow has very readable ball motion, and does not loose hitting power through the pins. This is by far is the best Widow have thrown since the original Black Widow. I went with a 60 x 4 x 30 layout, which a little stronger layout than normal for me. This layout enables me to use it on both sport and house patterns. Great new Black Widow from Hammer.

This is one of the best releases ever of the Black Widow line. It compliments the 2.0 perfectly. This is the most versatile Black Widow I have thrown in a long time. I have been able to use it on many different conditions, and have been able to use it longer than most balls at this level. On fresher lanes, the ball gets down lane and makes a strong move, allowing me to open the lanes up faster than normal. After the heads start to go, I am still able to get this ball down lane, and the reaction is still there. Definitely a must have!

Hammer 2.0 Hybrid is a very strong ball that would be most effective in heavy oil. Drilled mine pin up above the finger bridge. Ball reaction is a smooth roll at the break point that never gives up.

I average around 200. Most recently I have been using a Hammer Arson and a Hammer Fugitive. This is a great ball for more oily lanes where I would tend to leave a lot of 10 pins. The black widow allows me to have a steeper angle into the pocket when the lanes are oily. Fewer 10 pins left standing on pocket hits. It also allows me to shift my feet and target left to target futher left when oil conditions dry as the lane conditions dry a bit. A very good ball. I love it!!!

Got the BW 2.0H on the Black Friday sale for $104. Best $104 I've spent on a bowling ball, ever. First time throwing it hit 8 X's in a row. A perfect match/1-2 punch with my BW 3.0. Same core/same numbers/different cover which gives you the perfect flexibility you need during transition. I'm a speed dominant/low rev(250-ish) bowler, and this ball roles beautifully down the lane for me. Clears through the fronts easily, digs in and provides a smooth backend that's continuous through the pins. It's very predictable for the transition, but can also be used easily on the fresh. You have some room for error with this ball, hardly ever misses the pocket(operator error is the cause if it does). I don't like to move much, so I start with the 3.0 on the fresh, then mid 2nd game, or starting 3rd game this ball comes out, allowing me to not have to move in much at all. I've watched rev dominant players use it where it usually has a quick/sharp backend for them because it digs in and goes. It's very impressive, and I kicked myself for waiting so long to buy one, but can't complain on the deal I got. Don't get caught up in all the new balls, this one is still a banger after 2 years on the market. Rumor is it's going away soon, so I highly recommend getting one, even at it's normal $144 it's still a great deal for an awesome ball.
