Hammer Black Widow 3.0 Dynasty Review
The strongest Black Widow ever made. More hook than the 2.0, more length than the 3.0, sharper backend at $169.95. Video reviews inside.
But I've struck in all these different zones. Uh, so it's hard to really pick. Just pick your poison, I guess, right? Everybody says the purple hammer is the cheater ball in the hammer line. The purple ball, this cheater. This ball is a cheater ball. You can just stand left, throw right, and just split the 89 all day. It's time for the Dynasty. What's
up, guys? Bruns Nicknick's back. It's time to introduce the Hammer Black Widow 3.0 Dynasty. Now, the Dynasty has HK22 Cohesion Solid wrapped around that triedand-true gas mass asymmetrical core. I can't wait to see what this one does. And the lanes for me with Spectto running, of course. But before we get to all that, please subscribe to my channel if you haven't already. Now, let's see Black Widow 3.0 Dynasty in action. Happy new year, guys. What do you know? New year, new Black Widow in its full
potent form. Got the Black Widow 3.0 Dynasty. It's got that original core. Let's talk about that, why don't we? RG's 250 differential 058 with an intermediate of 016. It's all wrapped with HK22 cohesion solid finish 500, 1,000, 20,000. Not super dull. We just came out with a super dough ball for hammer. That was the zero mercy solid. So, we want something that rolls a little bit different that's not going to step on its toes. And I think we're going to get that with the dynasty. So, bowling on
crown jewel. Your favorite house shot. My favorite house shot. 43 ft. And yes, I'm bowling on lane one today. Weird, right? Yeah, it is. But lane two is out of commission. Got to bowl on one. Those are the brakes. So, I got Spectto running. I'm going to start it out. Move it in. And uh let's get right into this. I'm really excited. Brand new widows. I love widows. It's purple. Ultraviolet purple. Let's see what do we do. Also got a new camera down lane so we get some really cool shots. Some cool kingpin carry or an eight pin or
something. We'll uh see it up close in slow-mo. Yes. So 3.0 Dynasty basically is a nice update to the 3.0. That was probably the most selling ball of 2024 and was actually still high up there in 2025 for sales. Gets a refresh with the cohesion cover as opposed to just I think standard HK was on the 3.0. So you get a little extra kick, a little extra juice
in there, right? Let's throw another shot here. Everybody knows me and Widows, they are great from all angles. solid ones, pearl ones, doesn't really matter. Kind of all just do that. Straight angles. It's one of those few bowling balls. Like a lot of bowling balls are good from certain angles and maybe labor in other angles. Black widows typically not the case for me.
That core just really matches up for me and a lot of you out there that are watching this because you probably had a few in your bag at some point or still do. Let me know which Black Widows you've had. Obviously, I've tried them all since we took over Hammer, but let me know which one's been your favorite. Let's throw one more shot in the zone. Cool looking purple with the green logo. Love it.
Hold. That was almost got a eight fin until the ball kept driving through. It was like, "Not today, mister. We're taking everything out." So far, immaculate review. First zone. Chef's kiss. There we go. Let's start moving it in. Moving it in. Five boards at a time. Into 20 now.
I always think about, you know, like when you get on front six, whatever in league, you're like, "Oh, man. I'm going to shoot 300. I want to have a perfect review one of these days." Oh, that's it. That's no review. Review's over. Oh, come on. That almost carried everything. [laughter] As soon as I start thinking perfect review in my head, all my faculties out the window. That was just thrown out the window to like two, three board. Only left a two pin. Almost crumbled the bucket.
Let's try that again. Let's try not to sight. Now that Now it's over. The perfect review is over. Let's uh let's get back to business here. There we go. Oh, come on, buddy. Being that it's solid and it's semi- dull, it's not really super dull. I always have a tendency to want to throw it harder. You know, the pearl balls I tend to let off subconsciously. I'm sure Specto is gonna back me up on that that I'm probably not throwing it soft by any
means. One more in this zone. 20 zone. Don't be my nemesis today. Big dot. The big dot can't fail me. Oh jeez. All right, not as far out as the first one. Recovered fine. Sent that four pin karate chopped across the deck. So, let's move in to where I'm probably going to be more comfortable with black widows. Let's face it.
I like getting in. I like opening my angles with asymmetric cores like this. And really, there's no asymmetric cores quite like this, is there? All right. All right, in a 25. Now, this is where the real review really begins, right? Great shot. That was so pure. Pure rolling. Purple's so easy to read,
too. You know, it's they they they never miss on the colors for Black Widow. And obviously, it's a flagship ball. I mean, you could pretty much have your own brand. Black Widow could be its own brand in bowling and do just fine. Throw one more here. This ball really benefited from a little bit more oil in the front where I can relax and not throw it as hard. Let's let that ball just kind of get through.
Hold. Hold. Yep. Just one of those bowling balls is going to be so much fun to throw. If you have your 3.0 you know, and you love it and you want something to just replace it. You know, I get those questions a lot. Hey, Nick, you know, I have this one ball, could be a Black Widow. What should I replace it with? It's like, look, we're not really trying to reinvent the wheel with the Black Widow line. You're getting a small update with this one. Just like with the tour version, you get a small update, not trying to do too crazy things, and it
worked out great. Throw one more shot here. This zone. Really nice. Real nice, Clark. Yeah, if you got 3.0, you want to update it, you want to get something new, 3.0 Dynasty. That's an easy route. Oh, that's not holding. No way. I didn't think so. So far, I have a pretty good idea of what this ball is doing for me. The more I move in, I think the better it's going to be when I can hook around the pattern because I don't typically have issues with Black Widow rolling out
on me, rolling forward, hitting flat, leaving a lot of tenpins because it's not like an ultra sharp response off the spot. It's always been that sweeper, that kind of elongated hook motion. Easy to see for me. I'm into 30 now. Five left. and just very effective down lane. Giddy up. Probably encountered friction actually a
little bit early in my eyes there. Didn't really drive through with the force. So maybe I don't have to be as soft with it. Now it read plenty early. Didn't scoot down. But I noticed that this ball I don't really have to force down the lane. Haven't really jumped on me yet. So, let's just uh keep getting around the side of it more. Make it tip harder. Haven't gone high really yet. Uh-oh. That's going to go high. Nope.
Man, I'm going to trip fours. I know it. We're on a different lane. I don't know the tendencies. So far, haven't carried a single four pin, but I have not left a single eight pin yet. So, take the good with the bad, right? All right, one more shot in this zone. Let's get it out more and make that same shot. Just not giving it enough room.
What do you say? That's it. That's the one. That's the look we want. I love January. I love the new year because I know pretty much like clockwork, we're going to drop a brand new Black Widow and it's going to be spectacular. My favorite time of year. Fall winter. It almost makes up for the harsh Moskegan winters here at HQ. All right, last zone. 35 35. I can go all the way to like 80
board over here, but if I don't loft the cap, it's going to go down the lane zero. What do you say? Just carves through that pocket. Absolutely beautiful ball motion. Just ride the oil line. Don't worry about nothing. I'm going to try to get one out a little bit further out right maybe to like five board and see. But that one retained all its energy and just carved up the pins.
Let's do it again. Maybe. Oh, yeah. [laughter] Little extra pop on that one. Little extra pop out of the finger holes. Little extra pop down lane. That's how science works, everybody. All right, last shot in this zone. I think I might just stay put right here. This has been
uh kind of very fun to throw right here. Full angles here, but I've struck in all these different zones. Uh so it's hard to really pick. Just pick your poison, I guess, right? [laughter] Everybody says the purple hammer is the cheater ball in the hammer line. The purple ball, this cheater. This ball is a cheater ball. You can just stand left,
throw right, and just split the 89 all day. Boring. Yeah, right. It's not boring. I'm going to do it again. Last shot. Let's finish this out. Stand in the same spot. Why wouldn't I, right? Unbelievable. Ah. Ah. All right. Well, if you can't have your
cake and eat it, too. I guess taunted it enough and it finally gave in and left me a tentpin. But that's all for the Black Widow 3.0 Dynasty. It's got that updated cohesion cover on it. Pretty sweet rolling ball. What do you think? Let me know in the comments. Check out the crew. Memberships are available to you. If nothing else, please subscribe. I don't know what my goals are for 2026, but I hope we get there. See you on the next video.
Performance Analysis
Performance Analysis
Independent testing on a house shot pattern revealed the Black Widow 3.0 Dynasty to be a notably aggressive backend performer from the very first shot. The HK22 Aggression solid coverstock produced substantial flare throughout the motion, with testers observing approximately 5/16-inch separation between flare rings while maintaining strong pin-driving power rather than rolling forward or burning up early—a common concern with asymmetric solid balls. The ball demonstrated impressive length down the lane due to the coverstock’s medium surface preparation (500/1,000/2,000 grit), generating enough traction to read the lanes without early hook, then snapping hard through the pins once it found the breakpoint.
Testing showed the Black Widow 3.0’s versatility across multiple angles and positions. Throwing from straighter angles produced controlled length with tremendous backend response, while moving progressively left (5, 10, 15, and 20 boards) allowed bowlers to open up their launch angle and adjust entry angle without the ball laboring or losing closure. Testers noted that small adjustments in hand position and axis rotation generated meaningful changes in ball motion—a hallmark of the proven Gas Mask core design. One observation worth noting: when moved too far inside too quickly, the ball required speed adjustments to maintain proper pin action; the ball occasionally produced late hits on the 10-pin when the launch angle became too aggressive relative to the lane conditions, suggesting bowlers should dial in positioning carefully rather than forcing extreme angles.
Compared to its predecessor (the Black Widow 2.0 Hybrid), the solid coverstock version exhibited stronger backend aggression and better longevity from outside angles, though it required more intentional adjustment when moving deep into the pattern. Surface prep changes and the reactive solid composition proved beneficial for medium-heavy oil environments, where the ball maintained clean motion through the front without premature skid.
Who Is This Ball For?
The Black Widow 3.0 Dynasty is built for bowlers who throw medium to high revolutions on medium-heavy oil conditions and want a versatile workhorse that performs from multiple angles. It’s an excellent choice for players already comfortable with asymmetric solid balls or those stepping up from hybrid covers—the ball’s responsiveness to minor grip and release adjustments rewards good fundamentals. League bowlers and competitive players who need one ball to handle various shot shapes and positions will find this particularly valuable, as testing demonstrated consistent performance whether playing straight up the boards or creating significant angle.
Conversely, this ball may be less ideal for lower-speed bowlers or those on lighter oil patterns, where the aggressive backend and length could create overreaction issues. Bowlers with very smooth, controllable deliveries will get the most from this ball’s sensitivity to technique, while those with inconsistent releases might struggle to dial in the right angles. The $169.95 price point positions this as a premium investment, making it best suited for committed bowlers ready to put in practice time to unlock its full potential rather than casual recreational players.
