[Music] All right. So, first let's talk about this shirt. So, one things you guys don't even know that we do, like when I try these different shirts on, we're trying different like fits and we're trying different things, but she the lady who does them, she puts, you know, things on them, right? This shirt is too tight. So, we're going to get that out the way right now. So, y'all can go ahead and make your little comments. It's too tight. I already know it's too tight. But, it says cut that out. So, that actually is funny because I'm going to have I'm going to have the editing guy put a clip in so that you can understand why I cut that out is even on
this shirt. Anyway, let's get to this bowling ball review. So, today we're going to talk about the brand new DV8 Severe Collision. This ball features HK22C Havoc Hybrid HK22C smells like oranges. This is one of their better, stronger cover stocks. Has the Collision core shape, which was actually really good in the original Collision and the Collision series. The ball is asymmetrical. The RG is 2.462. Differential is 0.052. And the mass bias is 0.019.
It's finished 5001,500 cyer plus crown factory compound. Scans right at 5,000 grit on the CTD version 2 surface scanner. The hardness is right at 73. The oil absorption is fast. The layout is 60x 4 1.5x30. And I'm curious to see what Severe Collision is all about because a lot of the collision balls have been what I would say underappreciated but really really good products. So, let's get into Severe Collision right now. Before we do that, do me a favor.
Drop in the comments your favorite bowling ball of all time. If you do that, we're going to pick somebody and we're going to send you something. I don't know what we're going to send you this time, but we're going to send you something at random. We're probably not going to send you a tight fitting cut that out shirt, but we're going to send you something that is of value to you. So, with that being said, let's get into it right now. First shot, big four. No, first shot doesn't count. HK22 C. C stands for
continuous. No, I don't think so. That isn't what the marketing guy said at all, for sure. M little 68 little back end right there. Yeah, I think she's going to do the right thing. And you say why? What? What happened? What happened? Why'd you say that?
Essentially, that ball made the right kind of shape off the spot that I like to see. And when I see it, you can really tell uh that that that ball did the right thing. So, I feel like this ball is going to get missed, man. But you should take a peek at it cuz it it'll do the right thing for a lot of styles of play, too. That shape, that motion gives a lot of different styles of play opportunity to be able to use it in their typical league environment,
bro. They in trouble. So, continuous definitely the right kind of shape. Slower ball speeds may need a little more polish. Um, faster ball speeds may want a little bit of service. We're going to knock the surface off of this bowling ball for sure. But this ball does the right thing. Has the right kind of shape. She's strong in the right part of the
lane. Not super late, not super early. Right in the middle portion of the lane. I like this one. Let's get the lights all the way off. Got that about two left. About two further left. Not does. If I would have missed by one, it probably would have struck two. A little too much.
That's it right there. I actually like that one. So, I'm going to have to service off of this one. We're going to see if that helps give me a little more consistency with the continuation. All right, we're now at 4K. Let's see what it does now.
Hello. First shot. 052 differential. 6 and 12 in. 6 in of flare. A lot of flare. Flare means earlier hook, by the way. Ball is definitely stronger now. Still continuous, just more of it. Yo, stone eight.
Stronger ball motion, more performance. It's about matching up surface anyway. So, just get the surface right and you'll be fine. Much stronger piece. Hey man, do me another favor. If you don't mind, put your age in the comments. I'm just curious to see how old the average consumer is that watches these videos. So, if you don't mind, put your age in the comment.
Yeah, I kind of knew it was going to be flat, honestly. You say, "Why? Why you going to be flat? How you going to be flat?" It left my hand and just I didn't get to catch it all the way. So, I was like, "It's on line. The ball speed's good, but I didn't get to catch it all the way, so it may not keep going." It didn't. Flat seven. Make him do a little dance. Let's get straighter. Let's get left. Get straighter. More up the back of it. See how that performs.
Not bad. Not bad. It's going to be fine. We'll make a one board move with our feet. Leave our target the same. Should be good. That was it. One more. One more. Yeah.
Yeah, man. Straighter player. Just get the surface right. you'll be able to create a lot of shape with this bowling ball. I'm going to jump back in, slow it down a little bit, loop it, just to make sure. Well, it does hook. It does hook, which is what continuous balls do.
And there you have it. big hook, more up the back down the lane, more in the middle of the lane. Versatility is a trademark of the severe collision from DV8. Performance Analysis
Performance Analysis
Testing revealed the DV8 Severe Collision to be a sharp-response, backend-focused asymmetric that excels in transition zones on medium-heavy oil patterns. On the Crown Jewel house shot, independent reviewers observed the ball’s low RG (2.46) enabled early revolutions without early hook, allowing it to glide cleanly through the front end before making an abrupt move off the dry boards. The hybrid coverstock—finished shiny—provided excellent length through the oil, with the ball demonstrating strong pin carry when allowed to complete its arc. Notably, the Severe Collision proved more versatile than anticipated, performing well from straighter angles in the first two zones where the clean cover could guide it downlane, while also delivering explosive backend motion when played from deeper positions with increased axis rotation and softer ball speed.
The ball’s defining characteristic is its quick-response hook window—a trait that separates it from continuous-motion equipment. Testers noted the Severe Collision makes an abrupt directional change once it reads friction, then rolls forward with considerable drive rather than prolonging its arc through the pins. This makes it exceptionally responsive to small adjustments: moving just five boards or modulating speed and launch angle produced noticeably different backend angles. Testing also revealed the ball’s sensitivity to thrown speed; when velocity exceeded the lane’s carry point, the ball pushed through its intended breakpoint. Surface adjustments were recommended for bowlers throwing harder speeds who need earlier ball motion, as the shiny hybrid finish requires friction to activate its strong asymmetric core.
Who Is This Ball For?
The Severe Collision is ideally suited for bowlers with moderate to lower ball speeds who want explosive, late-game pin action without sacrificing control. The ball’s early rev characteristics and sharp response make it forgiving for players who generate adequate revolutions but need help with backend reaction—it reads the lanes quickly and hits hard when given friction to work with. Additionally, bowlers who prefer playing straighter angles on fresh or medium oil patterns will find this ball surprisingly playable from earlier boards, making it a solid choice for league play when lanes are in better condition.
This ball is less ideal for power players or those who consistently throw high velocity on heavy oil patterns, as the aggressive backend may cause overreaction and inconsistent breakpoints. However, even speed-dominant bowlers aren’t necessarily excluded; they would simply benefit from surface preparation to calm the coverstock’s response. The $189.95 price point makes it an accessible option for someone looking to add a strong asymmetric to their arsenal without premium pricing, particularly appealing to intermediate bowlers ready to move beyond symmetric equipment but not yet requiring a complete arsenal.
The Pros
- • Strong asymmetric core with .052 differential and .019 intermediate differential for a well-defined breakpoint
- • Low 2.46 RG gets the ball into its roll earlier, creating heavy midlane read with strong continuation
- • Hybrid coverstock with polish balances length and traction for broad usability
- • Outstanding pin action at 9.3 — the ball drives through the deck with authority
- • High versatility at 8.5 makes it effective across a wide range of medium-heavy conditions
The Cons
- • At $189.95, it is priced at the top of DV8's lineup
- • Low RG may roll too early for speed-dominant players who need length
- • Moderate backend (8.3) means bowlers wanting sharp angular motion should look at pearl options

Honestly one of my favorite balls right now. It’s super clean through the front and then snaps hard on the backend. I use it when my solid stuff starts burning up—it picks up great and still hits strong. It works best on medium to heavy oil, and the motion is really angular but still controllable. If you like backend hook, this one’s a solid choice.
