DV8 Mantra Review
While no longer in production, the DV8 Mantra remains a solid option on the used market for bowlers seeking a strong asymmetric ball for medium-heavy oil. The combination of the Mantra core and HK22 hybrid coverstock provides excellent backend reaction with controllable length.
Performance Analysis
Performance Analysis
The DV8 Mantra showcases DV8βs engineering prowess with its asymmetric core design that delivers impressive angularity downlane. The 2.49 RG and .047 differential create a medium rev-friendly ball that stores energy well through the front part of the lane before making its move. The .011 mass bias differential adds just enough asymmetric flare to create noticeable track roll without being overly aggressive.
The HK22 Inciter Xtreme Hybrid Reactive coverstock finished at 1500 grit polish is the perfect complement to the coreβs characteristics. This hybrid formulation provides the length needed to clear the fronts on medium-heavy oil while maintaining enough traction to create a strong backend motion. The 5-6 inches of flare potential translates to excellent pin carry, making this ball particularly effective for bowlers who struggle with corner pin leaves. While the polished finish works well out of box, bowlers facing true heavy oil may want to consider taking the surface down to enhance traction in the oil.

This ball is a hook monster...be prepared for medium to heavy oil to keep it in the pocket!

This ball has kept my game consistent throughout the season so far. I've been averaging between 180-197 with his ball right off the bat. I would encourage anyone to get this ball because it is not too aggressive nor weak, but it is balanced from the step-down version of the Hammer Effect and Track Archetype Hybrid, and a step-up from the Hammer Scorpion Strike.

my friend has this ball and he let me try it out and it is an amazing ball and I'm definitly considering getting it for myself
It doesn't have a strong hook until it catches the back end of the lane but if it finds the pocket it will shred the rack every time.
