Performance Analysis

Performance Analysis

The DV8 Notorious showcases the brand’s commitment to high-performance equipment with its potent combination of the DV8 Antagonist asymmetric core and DV8 Composite Fang Hybrid Reactive coverstock. The core’s .047 differential and .018 mass bias create substantial track flare potential of 4-5 inches, generating impressive hook motion and pin carry. The 2.47 RG provides a balanced roll that builds energy through the midlane before unleashing strong backend reaction.

The hybrid reactive coverstock strikes an effective balance between the length of pearl and the earlier hooking characteristics of solid reactive resin. Finished at 3000 grit, the Notorious provides controlled length through the front part of the lane while maintaining enough surface texture to grip the lane when it encounters friction. This makes it particularly effective on medium to heavy oil conditions where bowlers need both length and strong backend motion. While discontinued, the Notorious can often be found at attractive prices on the secondary market, making it an excellent value for bowlers who match its aggressive performance profile.

The DV8 Notorious is a Hybrid coverstock (same formulation coverstock found in the Pitbull Bite) made for heavy oil in the high performance line with new upgrades of the new Antagonist core, new DOT technology and the newly added Dynamicore technology that Brunswick started with their brands. Other than the attractive and stunning color combos this ball has, do not underestimate the performance and power this ball has in the DV8 line. This arsenal has the same hitting factors of the Pitbull series, and can be comparable to Brunswick's Tenacity Grit. You will favor this ball in league and tournament conditions... no question! https://youtu.be/lTeq8K_H6kA

The new Notorious features a Hybrid coverstock, Dynamicore and DOT Technology which makes this ball a great addition to the DV8 lineup. The Notorious is a heavy oil ball that still gets decent length but then makes a very aggressive move once it sees friction. This ball for me has more length than my Pitbull Bark and is more angular. I have the Notorious a little less overall hook compared to the Bark but more than the new DV8 Poison, it's a perfect fit in between. Another great ball from DV8

The DV8 Notorious handles heavy oil extremely well for me. The ball gets into the hook phase smoothly, and it will settle very good into the roll phase to help pin carry. Smooth is the best word to describe my Notorious. I feel good about the ball getting to my desired break point and always finishing smoothly into the pocket. Of course, this ball has Dynamicore. You will see a difference in pin carry with Dynamicore. The pins stay low, but travel across the deck with unusual power. I like to say that the ball increases the size of your strike zone by 2 boards. If you want a smooth ball, to battle heavy oil, the DV8 Notorious is IT!

Here is the new upper mid ball from DV8, the Notorious. This ball features a brand new core, the Antagonist. This ball is wrapped up with the composite fang cover, the same used on the Pitbull Bite last year. This ball offers the famous dynamicore to enhance the hitting power to get near the Quantum's one. This ball also features the brand new DOT, so the raiser pin is located underneath the ball. This technology allows you to drill wherever you want without taking care of the pin placement and wonder about the warranty. I wanted to have a strong asymmetrical ball with some control, so I decided to go with the pin under the ring finger and the mass bias just right of the thumb hole. On the lane this ball clears the heads pretty easily even if the cover isn't polished because the cover is hybrid. I was also surprised about how much backend this ball got for a dull ball. Compared to the poison, I play the ball about the same but the shape is different. The Notorious has more length and backend compared to the poison. Compared to the Prowler, I play the Notorious 3 boards left with my feet and 2 boards left with my eyes. The Notorious rolls a couple feet sooner and cover more boards because of the dull surface. The first time I tried the ball, it was after a league. I was amazed buy because I was able to play the track even if there have been 3 games played. Usually, my dull stuff rolls too early and I don't get pin carry because the ball hits flat. But with the Notorious, I was able to play the track and still get great hitting power and carry. Thanks to the hybrid cover! The ball comes with a 3000 grit finish. But like all the other DV8 covers, the composite fang is very versatile. It can be padded with a 1000 grit or even 500 grit pad for speed dominant or when you want to play heavier patterns. If you want to add some length and a sharper backend, you can put some polish on it. To conclude, if you want to have a very versatile ball and a ball that can clear the heads pretty easily, the Notorious is your choice.

There was a need to bridge the gap from the Pitbulls to the Poison, and the Notorious fills that gap well. I chose a layout for the Notorious that filled a spot in my bag that I needed. I wanted to be able to use a bigger asym to control friction at several centers i see locally, using the stronger Composite Fang Hybrid cover with some surface, added with the layout numbers which make this ball super clean even with surface, it allows me to move right and control the breakpoint when my other stuff is just way too responsive to the friction. I have literally had to make myself put this ball away at times. It has quickly become my favorite ball in my bag. I am finding that Im a huge fan of Dynamicore in the DV8 line as well, Notorious along with the Prowler definitely have a different hit and carry to them. Add to this the DOT technology, backed by an industry best 4 year warranty- where there's no worry about layouts being too close to holes, and its really alot of bang for your dollar Overall if you have a Pitbull line ball in your bag and are looking for a little step down when it becomes too much, the Notorious will be the ball you need. Or, if you are new to DV8 and are looking to try one for the first time, I highly recommend starting with a Notorious, its just an all around great ball.
