Radical Outer Limits Black Hole Review
Heavy oil wrecking ball with explosive downlane motion and aggressive angular finish at a mid-tier $159.95 price. Video reviews inside.
Finally, a shiny solid I do not want to surface. I don't mind lane one. [laughter] Oh, and the messengers carry. What's up, guys? Brunick's back. It's time to introduce the radical outer limits black hole. Now, the black hole gets an update with HK22 cohesion solid all wrapped around that Outer Limits asymmetrical core. Can't wait to see what this new rendition does out in the lanes for me
with Spectto running of course. But before we get to all that, please subscribe to my channel if you haven't already. Now, let's see outer limits black hole out in action. All right, it's time to enter the Outer Limits Black Hole. Now, this was one of the first balls I've considered drilling pin down. I didn't. I stuck with my guns, went with the original layout that I normally do, but that was based on what I saw from throwbot testing. You can see that video on the radical YouTube and Facebook pages there. But
let's talk about that core that's in here, that outer limits asymmetric core RG2.499 differential 051 with an intermediate 014. And the cover gets an update with HK22 cohesion solid. It's got a compound finish on this. It's pretty shiny. Look really good in throwot testing. Bowling on crown jewel. Favorite house shot. 43 feet. A lot of dry to the outside. Whole lot of oil in the middle. And yes, your eyes are not deceiving you. I am bowling on lane one. Came in this morning. Lane
two is out of commission. Tried to fix it. But it was well beyond my capacity for fixing anything in this world. So I just had to let it be. Bowling on lane one. Hey, what do you know? We got Spect running though. That still works. Start it out. Move it in. Let's see what this one's all about. Start on 15 black bowling balls. Almost back to back. Phil running out of ideas now. I told a long time ago, let's make every bowling ball black and just change the logo color. This is perfect. Purple with
the logos. Let's try it out. Hold. It held. Got to thank that shiny cover for pushing it down the lane. And I imagine it's going to be quite the heat saker for friction because these are the only bowling balls radical. I get to get a kind of a sneak peek when I do throw robbot. I get to see what it's all about. And that's why I was very, very wanting to drill a pin down one cuz for the
testers on Throwbot, the pin down looked phenomenal. All right, let's throw another shot. One shot in, one strike. Looks pretty good. Better shot. I think that's true. Black bowling balls scientifically roll better, hit harder, strike more. That's science. Let's see if we can put that to the scientific test. Right. We
threw like a thousand shots on Throwbot. Had the exact same ball, two different colors. I think we could prove it. Doesn't matter. The court of public opinion says that. Hope you're liking this new camera angle, too, down there. Got a little slow-mo action camera down there. Getting some high-speed shots. Get that out of there. Trip that 49 right out. How's that for a highlight
reel? Yeah, it's starting to warm up now. We're starting to get a little bit of burn into the cover. Starting to traction a little nicer. Now it's time to move out of this zone. Three for three. On our way to the perfect review. Going to do it. I'm going to do it one of these days. All right. In a 20 now. It would be cool. Have the perfect just 15 strikes in a row. It could happen.
What could possibly happen with this ball? Yeah, a few outer limits before been pretty good rolling for me. I never saw a whole lot of use. That wild one that came out with the solid little too vibrant for what I like. Good looking ball. Had a lot of back end, but you update the cover with a little cohesion. Make it black. Purple logo. We all know purple makes every ball better, right? I'm just spouting all sorts of wisdom on
here. Let's go for another one. Hook carry. There it goes. Perfect review out the window. That's all right. Four in a row. Throwing it blind. Pretty good for an old guy like me, right? 20 We're still in 2025, actually, when you're watching this video for the first time. kind of a strange info date, December 30th,
but this ball will be out in January for everybody and I think you're going to want to get on board. That'll strike. Yeah, I could tell mid lane when that ball was going to kick out the 10 and when I was going to wrap it. The last one kind of went a little bit too long. Wrapped the 10. That one dug in just a little bit harder at that spot and it
changed the angle of its entry there. So, the impact angle is probably going to be different from those two shots and that's why one struck, the other didn't. I hope Spect's got my back. Let's move five. Now, I don't think I need to force this ball down the lane. And normally, in the past, shiny solids have not been great for me. I've always been like, "Oh, let's just hit the surface." But hasn't been too many shiny black solids,
though, cuz they just kind of do that. It's uh it's going to be hard to forget about this ball as we go through the year. You know, when we make our top 10 bowling balls of the year type thing at the end of the year or even the bestselling bowling balls of every year, the ones in January get a head start because they've been on the market the longest. People get to try them the
most. And uh some bowling balls just leave their mark performance-wise. and and you just can't get them out of your hand and they just are a good performer. Uh oh, I grabbed it. [laughter] That's awesome. That is so cool. And I hope you like that slow-mo replay cuz uh that pin took its sweet time getting
over there and knocking it out. So, I've kind of lost track. I don't know if that was two shots or three shots in there. I don't know. Let's just throw another one in there because I forgot. I'm having a fun time. Not really keeping track. Just kind of throwing. This goes a little long. It goes a little long. We'll throw one more shot here because uh feels good. But I think this is a fourth shot. All right.
Got that out wider. Wrapped 10. probably gassed it a little bit. Little fast. Tiny bit fast. But so far, I feel total control of this ball. I feel like I can throw it wherever I want. And we're going to move it five now. Get into 30 and really try to throw it wherever we want. All right. Have an eight pin on this lane. That's a refreshing thing. You know,
maybe I'll just ball in one from now on. I don't mind lane one. [laughter] And the messengers carry. Yeah. The only lane one I care about is the lane one and a bowling center because uh Woo! Man, oh man. I'm kind of speechless. I don't leave eight pins and my messengers carry.
Let's keep this up. This has been like the most fun review. I'm smiling ear to ear. Let's do that again. I want more messengers. Messengers on nine. Messenger on 10. That's a little slower hook. Yep. That just carries that 10pin. Just pulls it right off the deck. Yeah. I don't know. So far, this ball has been fantastic. Every angle it seems to just getting better and better. You know,
that last zone was pretty good when we carried the nine pin. What zone was that? But we also did wrap two 10 pins. So, maybe it wasn't that good, right? This zone might be the best, but I could play it straighter all day with the shiny surface. I can play them straighter. Finally, a shiny solid. I do not want a surface. Oh, that's going to the face. Yeah, I'm lucky that even hit the
pocket. That one probably finished at like 26 27 board if I had a guess. But that one should have gone through the face because it's shiny. It didn't. So, that's all right. All right. I think that was the third shot there, right? Messenger flush. So, let's move in. Man, let's get to 35. Oh man, I can't wait to throw this one in league. I really can't.
Oh, little bounce bounce. Man, this ball's going to come into play. This ball is going to be in the bag. I imagine this is going with me to the Moskegan Masters which is up February I think. So I'll be able to have this in the bag. Never know what they're going to put out. But a versatile asymmetric ball. Yes, please. Yes, please.
And now thinking about it, I don't know if I would want the pin down. I think this ball is plenty good playing them straighter. That's good. Real good. Yeah, I could play all different zones with this ball. Straighter. I struck pretty much every shot in the first zone. Yeah, I did. Second one, I 10pin and I struck a couple times. So, yeah. I mean, obviously, this is still fun playing at open angles. I would probably
shut them down a little bit more if I was really bowling for score right now. One more shot here. Yeah. Is that it? What did I do? Yeah. Yeah, I think so. Oh, great. Every shot just looks the same. It's not a skid flip ball. It's not at all a skid foot ball. It just kind of sweeps over, you know. It doesn't have that super high intermediate. So, the hook window
is going to be a little bit longer. Differential is 050. I mean, it's flaring, don't get me wrong. Like, it's flaring plenty, but it's not just like hook stop or anything. All right. Um, I don't really know where to go. Pick a spot. I don't know, 20, 30. Let's go 20, I guess. Let's just go big dot just to show you guys for your all your house shot friends out there. Big dot is a great zone for this ball.

Performance Analysis
Performance Analysis
Testing revealed that the Radical Outer Limits Black Hole delivers impressive versatility across multiple line angles and oil conditions. Independent reviewers evaluated the ball on a typical house shot (43 feet, Crown Jewel pattern) with significant dry boards on the outside and heavier oil in the middle. The HK22 Cohesion solid coverstock—particularly in its shiny factory finish—proved to be a significant strength, allowing bowlers to play straighter lines without requiring surface adjustments. Unlike many shiny solid reactive coverstock balls, this design maintained excellent control and did not leave corner pins, with testers noting consistent pocket hits and solid pin carry across varied angles from board 15 through board 35.
The Outer Limits asymmetric core (RG 2.499, differential .051) combined with the updated cover produces a smooth, sweeping motion rather than an abrupt hook-and-stop reaction. Reviewers observed that the ball exhibits a longer hook window due to its moderate differential—flaring substantially during the mid-lane phase but without dramatic angular movement. This characteristic proved advantageous when playing multiple zones; testers moved the ball five boards at a time and maintained control at each position. The shiny surface generated traction on older lanes, particularly as cover wear increased slightly during the session, suggesting the ball will adapt well as it transitions from fresh finish to game-condition surfaces.
Notably, independent testing indicated strong messenger carry and pin action even on less-than-perfect hits. The ball’s performance remained consistent whether bowlers played conservative angles or aggressive entries into the pocket, making it suitable for different strategic approaches within a single session.
Who Is This Ball For?
The Radical Outer Limits Black Hole is well-suited for bowlers who want an asymmetric workhorse for medium to heavy oil conditions without committing to surface maintenance. League bowlers and tournament competitors who prefer versatility will appreciate the ability to play multiple boards effectively without resurfacing. The shiny finish eliminates the need for immediate surface work—a practical advantage for bowlers who want performance out of the box.
This ball is particularly ideal for players in the intermediate to advanced skill range who bowl on typical house shots with significant oil in the middle. Its moderate differential and sweeping motion make it forgiving enough for those still developing ball control, while its asymmetric core provides the angular performance that experienced bowlers expect. With an MSRP of $159.95, it represents solid value for a reactive solid asymmetric, making it an accessible entry point for bowlers looking to add a heavy-oil option to their arsenal without breaking budget.
The Pros
- • Massive .051 differential delivers one of the highest hook potentials in the Radical lineup
- • Factory compound over 1500 grit gives it more length than a typical heavy oil solid
- • 9.7 pin action rating — the Outer Limits core carries through the deck with devastating energy
- • Priced at $159.95, significantly below most high-performance asymmetrics
The Cons
- • Too aggressive for medium or lighter conditions without significant surface adjustment
- • High hook potential requires precise layout selection for lower rev players
- • Factory compound finish can wear off quickly, changing the reaction after a few sessions

It has met my expectations thus far. I have only bowled with it once so far.
Kentucky, United States
I just purchased one from a pro shop that was already drilled with two holes. Kept it like that, and used two hands. It will hit hard.
