Storm IQ Tour Nano Pearl Review

For someone who hasn't had a Storm ball with the Nano cover, I couldn't believe how strong this ball really was. Compared to the IQ Tour, the Nano Pearl is a few boards stronger even though it is also cleaner in the front part of the lane. A great step down from the Axiom when a strong shape yet controllable is necessary. Even though this ball produces more angle than the IQ Tour, it is still more controllable than most pearls in the Storm line. Not only is this ball versatile, it is very continuous and can be used on a wide array of oil conditions and varying styles. If you enjoy any of the previous IQ series balls, this is a must have ball in your arsenal!

The IQ Tour Nano Pearl is an extremely versatile ball that will be liked by a wide variety of styles. Wrapped in the Nano Pearl Reactive Coverstock, and powered by the C3 Centripetal Control Core, this ball is designed to let you as the bowler control the breakpoint much easier. This ball is very aggressive and comes out of the box at a dull surface. I was very impressed with the shape I saw out of this ball. The IQ Tour Nano Pearl allows me to stay aggressive with my speed and hand and it never misses the midlane or downlane. I can depend on this ball when I need to throw a ball hard and be aggressive at the bottom. You see the same smoothness that you get out of the original IQ Tour but with the Nano, you’ll see it pick up sooner and smoother downlane. Wow. What a great compliment to the IQ Line. The IQ Tour Nano Pearl is the first Nano Pearl ball in the IQ line. You'll get exactly what you expect with this piece. It is smooth for a pearl ball because of the nano cover base. It reads the midlane well and transitions nice off of the end of the oil pattern. I think this ball will be successful on any type of lane condition like the rest of the IQ line. Compared to other balls in the line, the Nano Pearl is stronger than the IQ Tour Solid and is much earlier than the IQ Emerald. The IQ Tour Nano Pearl bridges the gap nicely between the Phase II/III and the IQs.

The Storm IQ Tour Nano Pearl is an awesomely smooth ball perfect for those flatter patterns or heavy wet dry house shots. I drilled it 4.25x4x2. It’s very clean thru the heads with very smooth backend. Perfect compliments to any IQ ball in the series. I felt like the best look I had was anywhere deeper inside. I could also play straighter but it would face up early or course. This ball reads the oil very well as did any ball with the Nano coverstock and its not jumpy off the dry boards. To me this ball fits and compliments any IQ ball. Seems to be perfect to start on the fresh when my IQ30 is going a little to long, Hitting Power is great just like any Storm Ball

This ball gives me IQ Tour feeling just a touch stronger. It has that great round motion that we all love to use. Comparing to the IQ emerald I would say the IQ tour nano is about 4 to 6 boards stronger for me and little bit different shape down lane. The high friction surface created match up issues for so many staffers that R &D developed the low RG low Diff C³ Centripetal Control Core. This unique core then enabled the Storm/Roto staff to dominate not only the many tournaments contested on this surface. But it spawned one of the most successful lines of bowling balls ever. The newest cover formulation in the IQ line is the Nano Pearl Reactive. Storm's Nano particle covers have created the best footprint in oil on the market. No volume of oil is out of play with these balls and the combination on this ball is unique. Many of the IQ line have been a bit much for me. With my lower ball speed, their low RG cores tend to make their move a bit fast for me. With this being a Nano cover, I opted for a longer pin to pap distance in hopes of stalling the move slightly as my current league house has ample surface friction as well. It took a bit but I finally figured out what makes the IQ line heads and tails above every other ball I've thrown on exactly this type of surface. The ball does the work for you. While I don't throw the ball with the same speed as the pro's do, my medium rev-rate tends to even things out. I found that once my focus became getting the ball where I wanted it and generating what speed I can, the ball took care of the hooking on its own. It still responds well to small hand position changes, but the less you attempt to work the ball, the more it shines. In particular I find this ball is great when playing in. The worry of throwing the ball through the spot goes away when the cover will see the spot for you. It just becomes a simple matter of moving left with the transition, opening the angle up to clear the front as needed and letting the ball do what the ball does.... STRIKE!

The IQ Tour Nano Pearl features the same Centripetal C3 core from the IQ Tour series, and a cover we haven’t seen stateside in a while in Nano Pearl. The Tour Nano Pearl uses the pearl version of the IQ Tour Nano cover, which makes it longer and stronger than the Tour Nano, but a similar shape to the Tour Solid and Emerald. However, it’s 3-4 boards stronger than the Tour Solid, and is one of the most continuous balls I’ve ever thrown. It continues to gain momentum and climb on the backend, and builds on the classic IQ Tour idea that is about control and consistency. The Tour Nano Pearl reaches up to handle heavier volumes, more zones and bigger angles on the lane.

What more can be said about the iQ Tour series of balls, from the original to both pearls, they have been huge hits and everyone has at least owned at least one of them. iQ Tour Nano Pearl is going to be another huge hit. I drilled mine with a 5.5 x 5 x 3 and after a couple shots I knew how much I would be using this ball because I love the motion so much. It is clean like the iQ Tour Pearl Emerald but isn’t as angular because of the Nano in the cover stock but because of the lower RG and Diff you can still use it on the fresh on high friction lane surfaces. If you are a tournament bowler and you have any of the previous iQ Tours or your looking to try one for the first time, you wont want to miss out on this ball !

Rev rate: 300 Speed: 15.5 MPH Layout: 55 x 4 x 30 Dual Angle Ball Specs: RG: 2.49 Differential: .029 The OG !Q Tour Nano is my favorite release in the series. The cover was stronger than the solid making it stronger in the midlane and a more predictable reaction. In today’s bowling environment with thicker oils Storm releases a Nano Pearl version to help the ball have the earlier midlane reaction with a smoother reaction off the end of the pattern so bowlers can control the pocket. After using this ball for the last few weeks you can noticeably tell how much earlier this ball reacts down the lane compared to the !Q Tour Solid and Emerald. I have all three !Q’s (Nano pearl, Solid, Emerald) drilled similar to have the same ball motion but let the three different covers give me an earlier, a middle, and a longer length. On our house pattern (40’, 19-24mls) the Nano Pearl is 3-4 boards stronger in the front of the lane compared to the solid. As the lanes changed and I had to move left the Nano Pearl was too early and was laboring down lane so I switched to the solid standing in the same spot and I had the reaction I was looking for. How does this ball compare to the Emerald? For me the shiny pearl balls have a lot of length on any pattern. After rolling the two I have to be softer with my speed when rolling the Emerald to get the ball to react down the lane. When rolling the Nano Pearl on the house shot I am 6-7 boards left at the arrows compared to the Emerald. The last thing is the surface on the Nano Pearl. Since the pearl covers tend to give me lots of length and the Nano Pearl is dull out of box and begins to lane shine after a few games I am opting to keep the surface at 1000 grit by hand. By far, this is the strongest IQ ball at OOB as it is bigger on the backend than the original IQ Tour. I went with 5” pin, pin over bridge drill and saw the ball hook earlier and harder than I expected. I bowled on 47’ Paris and this ball was able to pick up in the midlane and read the pattern really well! I decided to put a small amount of polish to help it clear the fronts a smidge further and now I can really open the lane a bit more and is very, very versatile. Definitely geared for Med-Heavy to Heavy patterns where the pearl will clear the fronts, store energy, and allows the player to control the pattern front to back. I was a big fan of the IQ Tour nano from a few years ago so, naturally, I was excited for this release. The Nano-Pearl is very strong rolling and needs some oil in the heads. Straight out of the box I had to get pretty deep with my target, just to have it not bleed off so much. Once I got some lane shine on the ball, I was able to stay further right with it and it also created much more angle, carrying more of the 10 pins I was leaving with my first couple of outings. You still get that iQ shape with the Nano Pearl, just a bit slower because of how well it reads the mid lane. This ball is a solid addition to the arsenal as is all of the new releases by Storm and RotoGrip, this summer. The IQ Tour Nano Pearl is the latest addition to the Master line at Storm. The IQ line has been extremely successful and I was excited to see the Nano Pearl be announced. I was a big fan of the Hyroad Nano because of how versatile it was and how many different patterns I could use it on. This new IQ Tour Nano Pearl features the same coverstock which excites me as well. After drilling one IQ Tour Nano Pearl so far, I can see this ball being a great benchmark piece for all types of players. The first one I drilled is mapped out as 5 x 4 and I haven’t changed the surface. I’ve been able to play straight and trap my angles with it as well as get left, gear down, and cover a lot of boards with it. The IQ Tour Nano really digs in the mid-lane and provides an extremely controllable response time. This type of motion enables me to be able to use the IQ Tour Nano Pearl on multiple patterns from multiple angles. If you feel like you’re missing a benchmark piece that you can use on multiple patterns with multiple speeds and different surfaces, the Storm IQ Tour Nano Pearl should be the next addition in your bag!

It reads the lanes aggressive and is super continuous down lane and doesn’t quit. This ball is a beast and is great on the fresh and medium to heavy oil conditions. The !Q Tour Nano pearl is the latest Master line release from Storm, the Bowlers Company. This edition features the nano pearl cover stock in black pearl, and is finished with a 3000 grit abralon pad. The numbers in 15lb balls are 2.49 Rg, with a differential of 0.029. This edition features the same C3 Centripetal core that was in all of the previous !Q Tour releases. I drilled the !Q Nano Pearl with a 4” pin and a 3” pin buffer. This is the same layout I have on my original Idol, and I felt that these two balls could complement each other. As expected, the overall board coverage is similar, but the Nano pearl has more downlane recovery and flares less and tighter than the Idol. The Idol seems better at blending a pattern that has more hold area when playing the bounce off the dry on easier patterns, where the Nano pearl works better with a more blended pattern. This ball will be very useful on tournament patterns that have lower left to right ratios. The Nano pearl also works very well with the !Q emerald pearl, as the nano pearl creates better traction in more oil and earlier on the lane than does the pearl Emerald. The !Q Tour Nano pearl has almost the same shape through the lane as does my Idol Pro that has a 4.25 X 2.75 layout, but isn’t as sensitive to oil in the front of the lane as the Pro. I don’t know if it’s possible to have a bad ball ball reaction with any ball that has the C3 Centripetal core, so the Nano Pearl is no different and feels like another homerun for Storm. Use your favorite layout, get your angles correct, and the Nano Pearl will work for almost any style player on the right condition. The Nano Pearl cover has more traction than the solid R2S cover but the pearl allows it to clear the fronts effortlessly. It has a buttery smooth, small arc in the mids and backend, but has plenty of punch to carry even from deep inside. I was able to throw it on 4 different oil patterns ranging from 39’ to 43’ feet in length with the box 3000 grit finish and it performed flawlessly. I used it everywhere on the lane with subtle changes in hand positions. It can play up the boards or you can arc the whole lane if needed. It blended everything out and made even the tougher conditions look easy. The IQ Tour Nano Pearl automatically makes both the tournament and league bags. This is a must have for anyone that likes a smooth, predictable, hard hitting, easy to throw ball that strikes from anywhere on the lane. I like how I can control not only this ball, but I can control the pocket with this ball and play around 3rd to 4th arrow. I absolutely love the nano pearl cover, very controllable and continuous.

Anytime I see the name IQ I immediately get excited. This one did not disappoint. As I have stated in previous reviews, my favorite traits in a ball are smooth and predictable. The IQ Tour Nano Pearl has both of these traits with the added punch at the end. There is no quit in this ball. It felt as if I could find the pocket from anywhere on the lane. It wasn’t even a question to whether or not the IQ was going to have a spot in my bag. The way it blends the lane is what gets me excited. Similar to that of my Pro Motion and why I throw that so much. The difference I see being is I will be able to use the IQ longer with subtle changes in hand positions/speed/etc. I am definitely going to be stocking up on a few of these!

45x5x45 rev rate 275 ball speed 14 mph PAP 4 ½ right and 1 up My intention when drilling this ball was to give me a stronger motion on the fresh to medium conditions than what I see with my Hy-Roads and Electrifies. The Nano Tour Pearl cover stock is perfect for creating more mid lane read than the higher RG Pearl pieces. The Nano Pearl is out of box dull but is still stronger than most other pearls even with polish once you incorporate the Nano technology.

As always, I would like to thank storm for providing the equipment I use every time I step out onto the lanes and logo infusion for making sure I always look good no matter what! Today I will be bowling on a pretty standard medium volume 44’ house shot. The IQ tour nano pearl featured the proven C3 centripetal core found in all the previous IQ tour balls, but is now wrapped in a pearlized nano cover. Although this ball does have pearlized additives in the cover, is it far from your typical quick response ball. Many people have asked me what I compare it to and I have told them imagine you’re back in 2012 and just drilled your first IQ Tour. The nano additives in this version increase the overall traction and slow down the response time of standard R2S solid providing a very similar reaction to 2012 on today’s heavier oils. This produces an extremely user friendly, super controlled benchmark reaction that any league or tournament bowler will love. When compared to the IQ tour emerald, the IQ tour nano pearl is a zone earlier and much slower to respond to friction downlane. The next great !Q Tour bowling ball! If you enjoyed any of the past !Qs then you will really enjoy this one.. Mine is drilled 4 1/2 inches away from my PAP. The pin is right above the bridge. For me, this ball fits perfectly right in between the OG !Q Tour and the !Q Tour Emerald. If the OG !Q Tour starts to burn up a little bit, or just isnt turning the corner, then throw the new !Q Tour Nano Pearl! It will get down the lane more, and turn the corner when you need it to. It's not super flippy on the backend, it's nice and controllable, but it still has that much needed power. Also, for me, if the Emerald is too flippy on the backend, then I can go to the !Q Tour Nano Pearl. It will be a tad sooner than the Emerald, and a little less flippy. I would highly recommend checking out this ball. It's very versatile, and you will be able to throw it on multiple different patterns!

When you say IQ, everyone is going to pay attention. One of the best balls in the business and been around for a long time. As most people have a IQ TOUR or more than one, now you have a great compliment. The Nano cover gives this ball a but more punch still maintaining the consistency. The IQ Tour Nano Pearl has mutiple traits of smoothness, arcing and now with the added punch at the end. There is no quit in this ball. It felt as if I could find the pocket from anywhere on the lane. I have drilled mine 50 x 4 1/4” x 45 which gives it a medium flare and great arcing motion. Storm has had some great benchmark balls and must have balls for tournaments and travel, and this is another one to add to the list. This ball allows you to keep your lines tighter if needed or open up the lane and have no quit. Regardless how you drill this ball you will like it. Introducing the IQ Tour Nano Pearl! The IQ Tour Nano Pearl features the Nano Pearl reactive cover stock wrapped around the Centripetal Control Core. This ball is very versatile and, has a smooth motion. This will allow all different style players to throw this ball and, have success. I fell in love with this ball the very first time I threw it and, shot 805 (247-279-279) my first 3 games out of the box. This ball compared to my IQ Tour Solid is much smoother and, more controllable with a more continuous motion down lane. The IQ Tour Nano Pearl to me is another benchmark ball that Storm created that can be used on multiple oil patterns successfully

How can you not love an IQ?! The IQ Nano Pearl (IQNP) filled a gap in my bag perfectly. I drilled mine 4.5x5x4 which put the pin under my ring finger. I love slower response symmetrical balls, but sometimes it’s hard to find the right ball to switch to when the front of the lane starts to hook too much but you still need a slower shape. Well, THAT is where the IQNP is perfect! The Nano pearl cover really does a great job getting length but still has that grippy texture, so you get length, but the ball still slows down. I think the IQNP should be in every tournament bowler’s bag. This ball is special!

Spec: C3 Centripetal Control Core: Nano Pearl Reactive coverstock : RG 2.54 and diff .034 (14lb.) 3000 grit factory finish. Layout I used: 30 x 3 1/2 x 35 Findings: The !Q Tour Nano Pearl did not disappoint me at all, having legendary C3 core and having the Nano Pearl cover added to it was a match made in "Strike Heaven". The core allows it to rev up quickly, but the cover allows it to go a little bit longer download but without producing the normal pearl "hockey stick" reaction on the back end of the lane. Very usable on wood lanes. synthetic lanes like SPL and HPL. Used the ball on all three types of lanes and 3 various house patterns and found the !Q Tour Nano Pearl to be the best all around ball for the conditions in all three centers. Benchmark ball for all levels of bowlers.

I drilled my !Q TOUR NANO PEARL (ITNP) with a slight variation of my normal go to layout of 55 x 4.5 x 30. I hit the box surface with a 2000 abr pad and have smoothed it back up to 4000. I also drilled a 2nd one to play with a "short pin" layout with specs of 90 x 2.25 x 45. I have left this one at box finish to see what the buzz about short pins are. The ITNP is a great extension of the !Q series. The !Q line is typically marketed as control pieces with versatility available in the covers, tunability with surface adjustments, and lower powered cores that preserve energy at the pins. The ITNP fits right into those statements as Storm keeps hitting home runs with there recent releases. I put my ITNP up against my IQ TOUR SOLID and IQ TOUR EMERALD. As expected the IQ SOLID was just a bit earlier than the ITNP and EMERALD. If I hit the ITNP with 2000, it was right on par with the SOLID and maybe just a bit more on the back than the SOLID. I went back to 4000 on the ITNP to give it some separation from the SOLID !Q. The EMERALD was a perfect step down from both of these balls as it got thru the burn spot effortlessly and still had a similar shape. The ITNP "short pin" has a place all of it's own and will be a niche ball for me. I used it on a 37' pattern on a surface that has friction near the edge. This "short pin" was smaller hook but still good hitting power. I will give the "short pin" ITNP a try to control the early hook of short patterns until the lanes carry down some and I need to open my target. Perfect time to break out the other ITNP and work it until the EMERALD is eventually in play! Put this one if you liked the !Q series and don't be afraid to try the short pin layout once in awhile for smaller hook/control on tougher patterns where keeping it in front of you is a good play until the lanes develop.

I am so glad I decided to get this ball as it is absolutely amazing. This ball is a great addition to the IQ line up. This ball is very smooth and has a punch on the back ends. The IQ Nano Pearl will definitely be a ball I take to league and tournaments with me. I am able to move my feet left as the night goes on and this ball still has that punch on the back end. With where I live we do not have much play on the lanes during league at the moment as we are only allowed 4 to a pair. I have not come across too much transition during league but there is some dependent upon where the others are playing the lanes compared to me. This ball lately has been the first ball out of my bag on league night. It gives me just what I am looking for at the start of the night. For the first three nights of league I have been using this ball for the first 2 ½ to 3 games. Then once there is a little bit of transition I can move my feet left or might have to change balls depending upon where others are playing the lanes. I have been having wrist issues and just did a fit change. I do not feel like my rev rate is where is what with adjusting to my fit, but regardless of my rev rate this ball still give me that punch on the bank end. I have been bowling in a sport shot league on Sunday afternoon. We are two weeks in and have been bowling on the 2011 US Women’s Open pattern. This ball has been the first ball out of my bag during that league as well. It gives me just what I need those first couple of games before maybe having to make a ball change. The August addition to Storm’s Master Line was the !Q Tour Nano Pearl. The !Q Tour Nano Pearl uses the Centripetal Control Core and is surrounded by the Nano Pearl Reactive Cover Stock. The combination produces powerful control throughout the lane. I was surprised by how early the Nano Pearl wanted to start to hook but did not stop hooking very continuous and controllable. The motion was very similar to the !Q Tour but stronger and more aggressive at the break point. The layout that I used was pin over the ring finger with cg kicked slightly out or 5 X 5 X 2.5 or 65 X 5 X 45 which is based off my axis point of 5 5/8 over and ¾ up. The !Q Tour Nano Pearl is a very versatile bowling ball and will handle most medium oil patterns. It does not have that drastic boomerang backend motion but the backend is consistent and powerful. The reason I went with this layout was to be able to play closer to the dry and play the oil line. I under estimated how aggressive the !Q Tour Nano Pearl was in the mid lane and this was not going to work. It was not all bad because my ball speed is a touch slower and slow hooking became a very good option. The !Q Tour Nano Pearl allowed me to open up the lane with moderate launch angles and had no issues or over under. The !Q Tour Nano Pearl is a great compliment to the already stellar Master Line by Storm.

The IQ tour nano pearl is the newest release in the IQ tour line and is the strongest of them all. The tour nano pearl sees the midlane faster than the tour solid and continues off the spot almost as hard as the tour emerald. The TNP will be in play on most league and sport conditions so long as there is enough head oil for the nano pearl to retain energy for proper carry.

Had a chance to get back on the lane's and try the latest addition to the IQ line. Very smooth and a great fit between the IQ Solid and Emerald. With my loft the box surface really helps me when the Emerald pushes too long for me. I would recommend this ball for league or tournament and it'll be one of the first balls out of my bag!

For the latest IQ release, Storm combines the highly successful Centripetal Core with the Nano Pearl coverstock. The Nano cover on this IQ makes this ball a better option for me on the tighter lane conditions than the original IQ Tour. The overall ball motion is very similar to the original IQ Tour, however this version digs in a little sooner and has a stronger backend ball motion than the original. For me, the Nano pearl version does not lane shine as quick as the original. Just as the original IQ, this ball is a must have for the tournament bowler facing those tough oil patterns where you just need a ball that will keep you around the pocket. It is also a must have for the league bowler looking to blend out the typical wet/dry house shot.

Storm IQ Tour Nano Pearl 3000 Nano™ Pearl Reactive Weight Block C3™ Centripetal Control Core The Tour Nano Pearl is the newest addition to the IQ nameplate, adding to the combo of the Tour Solid and Emerald. The Nano Pearl plays stronger than the Solid. I get a few more boards of overall strength from the Nano Pearl. It is nice to see a stronger option with the versatility of the IQ ball motion. Now I can open up a new angle with an IQ, getting more left knowing it will get down lane enough and still be strong enough to make it back. This is great for me playing on a heavier house shot my league uses. If you like the Emerald and would like a nice step up in strength, polish up a Tour Nano Pearl and you are set.

A similar reaction for me to the original solid. The newer stronger cover allows me to use it on tighter conditions while still getting the unbelievable reaction of the solid. It's great out of the box. It gets better with a little oil in the cover.

The !Q Tour Nano Pearl takes some familiar words from the Storm lexicon and makes them into a new release that looks great and rolls even better. It feels unmistakably like an !Q with the same control and predictability that we've come to expect... but somehow provides a bit more traction in oil PLUS more downlane motion when compared to an !Q Tour Solid. The new ball in one the best lines in the marker today is the Storm IQ Tour Nano Pearl. Storm took a very successful core in the Centripetal Core and put Nano Peal Reactive coverstock on it. Even with the lower diff core of .029 with the nano pearl cover the IQ can handle more oil up front. I have drilled a couple for my shop customers. I added a little Storm Step 2 and the results were impressive. It gave him a little more hold and smooth backend reaction. The carry with the IQ Nano Pearl is amazing. What can I say other than it's the great qualities that the IQ series gives you. The Nano Pearl isn't as far down lane as the Emerald but still gives incredible length. Drilled mine 4×3x2 and hit it with 1000 abralon so I could blend out the lane in the middle of the tournament blocks when the bigger balls are too early. IQ Nano Pearl is a great addition to any tournament bag or even a great ball to just use on your typical house shot.

Layout: 30 x 4 1/8 x 45 The Storm IQ Tour Nano Pearl is a very versatile ball that has a unique ball motion within the Storm line. It has a ton of midlane roll that is very continuous downlane, and harkens back to the particle pearl type bowling balls of the past. I used a stronger layout on this ball than I normally do, which helped to make this a ball that is better used on fresh medium-medium heavy oil patterns for me personally, in the box finish. It has enough push through the fronts to still be good on medium oil, but I find that it has too much midlane traction to be used on lighter conditions. Bowling balls such as the Electrify line or the Trend are great companion pieces to this IQ.

Here to talk a little about my IQ tour nano Pearl,what can I say another great release and great step up for the original iq tour.First thoughts when I threw this bowling ball for the first time was wow very close to the original one but a little earlier motion and control ball reaction down lane.i did hit the ball with fresh 2000 pad just cause I found ball was little skidy at times with the original 3000 ab finish.You can tell with the nano cover it helps a lot ,for sure a ball in my bag every where I go great for patterns that are fresh and great ball to control backend reaction.I really like the colour choice for this ball black pear,but looks little more grey in pics,still I thing a ball every bowler could use in there bag.
