I’m a big fan of Storm bowling equipment and love the Physix line. This will be a great addition to my bag!

This ball is special. Physix core and Axiom cover. It hooks early and tries to keep hooking. Most strong asym solids hook early and quit. The Proton is very early but wants to keep going. You definitely need some oil to throw this ball but it retains enough energy to use on a variety of patterns. It will blend out a cliffed house shot and it will pick up in a puddle too.
Hook in a box. That's what you'll get with the Proton Physix. I have had huge success with the Protons predecessors. I have multiple 800s with both the Physix and the Astro Physix. Fast forward to the Proton and you have a combination of the Atomic core and the NeX coverstock. I was skeptical that this ball would be even slower than the Axiom due to the bigger weight block. BOY WAS I WRONG. This ball has plenty of giddyup down lane and you won't be disappointed. You'll still find that this ball is weaker than balls such as the Omega Crux and Gravity Evolve. The Proton Physix bridges the gap nicely between our strong symmetrical balls and our huge asymmetrical pieces.

My Thoughts…. I mean what can I say about this NeX cover!!!! It is the next level Nano tech and what does that mean?? Ball digs in the oil and HOOKS! By this time you should have already had a chance to throw the Axiom Solid or Axiom Pearl. When I tested this ball I knew from the first shot that it will be a ball used for longer, flatter, or higher viscosity oils.
The Proton PhysiX wants to start hooking due to the combination of the Atomic core and the NeX cover. On a THS the Proton I see the ball using its energy early but doesn’t burn up and seems to blend the THS
Comparing it to my Rubicon I found the Rubcoin to be not as strong as the Proton but responded more off the pattern as the Proton sees the middle of the lane faster than the Rubicon did. I can play the same part of the lane and stand on the same spot and see a difference between these balls’ motions.

I was pretty excited about this release as I had previous success with the original Physix. This iteration of the Physix line combines the Atomic core with the brand new NeX coverstock.
We see tons of overall shape and boards crossed with the Proton PhysiX. If you're looking for an asymmetrical hook monster this will be the ball to get your hands on. Comparable to the original Physix this ball will be much sooner and overall and is designed for those upper medium to higher volume patterns.
Storm’s new big Asymmetric bowling ball the brand new Proton Physix! This ball features the NeX Solid Reactive Coverstock wrapped around the Atomic Core! The NeX Solid Reactive was featured In the Axiom and the Atomic Core was featured in the original Physix!
My Proton Physics is drilled pin down under my bridge with the Mass Bias away from my thumb! This ball gives me a great option for heavier lane conditions and a ball to just flat out hook! I love the motion of my Axiom but this will give you a more aggressive ball than the Axiom because of the Physix Core being Asymmetric!
Head over to your local Pro Shop and get your new hook monster from Storm on 12/4/20!
The Proton PhysiX features the NeX solid coverstock and the asymmetric high torque Atomic core. NeX solid was introduced on the Axiom and is an evolution of the famed NRG cover that’s known for its smooth and continuous control. NeX retains those core attributes and adds entry angle, durability, and longevity of reaction. The Atomic core comes in at a 2.48 rg, .053 diff, and .017 split or intermediate differential and is exceptionally dynamic. NeX solid harnesses all that aggression while Atomic gives IT some extra kick. The overall result reminds me a lot of a stronger and more continuous Halo. It’ll handle the heaviest volumes out there plus blend friction and avoid burning up or losing energy and is one of the most versatile heavier oil balls I’ve ever thrown. With 1 being the lowest and 10 being the highest, I rate the Proton a 10 on hook, a 4 on length, and a 4 on backend strength.
If you need a ball to hook in oil, look no further! Not only is the new Proton Physix strong, it continues super well! This ball, although designed for heavy oil can certainly be used on a variety of patterns because of how well it continues. The NEX coverstock first found on the Axiom, is early, strong, predictable and continuous as the theme here. If you need a ball that just flat out hooks or you have the original Physix and need a slightly stronger ball, then this is the answer! The first reviews on this ball has been incredibly positive and outstanding for many different bowler types. For anyone who bowls on sport patterns or in the PBA would surely appreciate this ball as well as these patterns tend to have more overall oil volume. This is a ball that will come with me for most tournaments because of its strength and great versatility.

As much as I loved the original PhysiX (I've owned four of them!), I never thought that I'd ever say the words "PhysiX upgrade"... but yet here I find myself, saying this about the new Proton PhysiX! This provides an extremely familiar feel in shape to the original PhysiX and the AstroPhysiX, while also providing an upgrade in both traction and control over the PhysiX thanks to being wrapped in the same NeX Solid coverstock as the Axiom. If you need traction and hook in heavy oil... you will NOT be disappointed with the Proton PhysiX!

Hey everyone, this is Storm staff member Josh Shoemaker here again with another ball review for the Proton Physix. As always, I would like to thank Storm for providing the equipment I use every time I step out onto the lanes and Logo Infusion for making sure I always look good no matter what! Today I will be bowling on a standard medium volume 42’ house shot. The Proton Physix features the NEX solid nano based cover found on the Axiom, but is now wrapped around the atomic core. This core boasts an RG of 2.48, Diff of 0.054 and intermediate of 0.017 in #16 lbs respectively. This is the same core that was found in the original Physix and Astro Physix. The Proton comes out of the box with a 3000 matte finish. I fell in love with the original Physix right after drilling it. It was one of my favorite mild asymmetric balls with a medium strength cover that seems like it was always in play. When the Proton was announced to our staff team, I immediately got excited. I was hoping that the stronger NEX cover would retain the amount of shape I saw out of the original Physix on heavier volumes of oil. So far, the Proton hasn’t disappointed. Balls like the Sure Lock and No Rules were staples in my bag for when I needed to open up the lane on heavier house shots or higher volume sport patterns. The Proton allows me to open up my angles when the pattern starts to develop and give away the pocket without sacrificing optimal deflection through the pins. I can see myself hitting the Proton with a fresh 1000 pad and using it on higher volume fresh patterns or letting it lane shine and using it during league to blend the high ratio pattern. When compared to the Omega Crux, the Proton Physix slows down faster and is more continuous downlane as opposed to the Omega Crux being straighter off the end of the pattern. Be sure to support your local Storm VIP pro shop and preorder your very own for the December 4th release!

You want the strongest ball in heavy oil? Look np further than the Proton Physix. This ball not only smells great, but also cut through the oil and has a strong backend motion. The Proton offers the NEX cover and the new Atomic core at 2.48 .053 with PSA of .017. This ball is comparable to the Gravity Evolve just stronger downlane, but still hooks in the heavy stuff. The NEX cover is also offered on the Axiom. This is a much stronger Axiom or an earlier Astro.
Sabrina Groves Nov 28, 2020
I had the PhysiX and have the AstroPhysiX, so I just knew I had to get the Proton PhysiX. This ball is definitely a ball that is going to be great on heavy oil conditions. It is clean through the fronts and pops on the backend. We are bowling on a longer pattern in the sport shot league I bowl in and this ball is great for that. I can play inside with this ball or even stay a little further right before moving my feet left. With my rev rate this is exactly the ball I need when it comes to heavy oil conditions and longer patterns.
I am so happy with this ball and that it rounds out my arsenal nicely. I am planning to bowl some PWBA events in 2021 and the USBC Women’s Open and this ball will definitely be one that I take with me to those events. This ball will be one I take with me to pretty much all tournaments. I cannot wait to see what it gives me on different patterns.

Wait there’s another Physix coming out?! Yes that’s right, the brand new Proton Physix! This ball is a great compliment to the original, being that the cover is slightly stronger on this new release. So, you can use this Proton Physix even before you pull out the original Physix. It will be perfect for heavier oil conditions, both sport and house shots! If you are a fan of the Roto Grip UFO, you will also like this ball because the two are very comparable. Many times this will be the first ball out of the bag, and it will allow you control when your other balls are not seeing the right spot or shooting too far down the lane. The pink colors on this Proton Physix also increase the shelf appeal and overall beauty of the ball!

This is a VERY strong ball! It reminds me of a UFO but a little earlier and more rounded/smoother. It was also more continuous on the backend than my Omega Crux which goes more forward off the end of the pattern. I was able to throw it on 4 different oil patterns ranging from 39’ to 43’ feet in length with the factory 2000 grit finish, 3000 and 4000 grit finishes. I had to keep the speed up with this ball or it would really grab and want to hook early. This will be a great ball for high speed players and players with a lower rev rate that can’t get a ball to hook up on longer/slicker conditions but like to play up the track area. High rev players will need plenty of oil and low speed players will need way less surface or even some polish. I can see this ball working really well on challenge/sport shots or “cliffed” lanes because it doesn’t boomerang on the backend which helps keep you in the pocket and doesn’t leave you ugly splits from steep angles. Although it hooks a ton, it is very easy to throw and a ton of high scores are being shot with this ball. This ball fits at the high end of the hook scale with the Omega Crux or UFO (big oil balls).

Pin was only 1 in and was hard to drill like I wanted so my proshop went to to his distributor and exchanged for better pin.

Benchmark layout for me 65x5x35. My Pap is 5-3/8 over 3/8 up. This reminds me a lot of the sure-lock. going to be a staple in my bag for anything with higher volumes. I do have a higher revrate and with this layout this isn't something i will be bringing to league but for the first game. Very continuous and this ball just never stops rolling.
Since the arrival of the Atomic Core, it has pushed the shaping limits of an asymmetrical ball. Wrap that around the NeX Solid cover and you have yourself the brand new Proton Physix. I drilled mine 5 x 5.5 x 1 and after throwing this ball for awhile I noticed how difference this ball is compared to the Gravity Evolve or any other solid asymmetrical, this ball shapes totally different. The Proton Physix rolls strong in the mid lane but doesn’t quit on back end either. Which doesn’t surprise me in the Physix line. This ball will be great on heavier/longer patterns and on those heavy fresh house shots.
Storm Physix has an RG value of 2.48 with a differential of 0.053 and Intermediate differential of 0.017.
Storm came out with a brand new combination of the NEX (Nano Extreme) solid cover wrapped around the Atomic Core.
The Proton Physix has a low RG and a high differential with a center heavy core will create a very responsive backend reaction which makes this ball a staple on the heavy oil patterns or a first out of the bag on a fresh house shot for either the low or high rev player.
I drilled the Proton Physics pin down to create a smooth off the spot reaction versus a pin up which would create a hard off the spot reaction.
Can you say hook in a box? Introducing the latest and greatest Big Asymmetrical Bowling Ball brought to you by Storm Products, the Proton Physix. The Proton Physix features the same core found in the original Physix, but wrapped in a NEX Coverstock. What that means is they amped up the coverstock previously seen on the Axiom, but is now stronger. I was absolutely blown away by how much this ball hooked out of the box. I bowled on a fresh Mexico City pattern and I tried to play them rather straight to start and this ball immediately started hooking. I ended up starting around 18 and had no problem tossing this ball to the right and watch it recover and absolutely destroy the pins.
This ball is best used on heavy oil conditions and I promise you, you’ll never have to worry about a ball not hooking on some volume. For as strong as this ball is, it never looses continuation; it always seems to keep going and not lose its energy going through the pins. Get yours today at your local Storm VIP Pro Shop!

Storm Proton Physix – layout: 70 x 1 ½ x 60
Tech specs: NeX reactive coverstock – Atomic Core – 2000ab finish
Ball review: When layout out this ball I took into account how much more rev dominate I have become in the past 2 years. So with that we drilled a shorter pin to pap for me to help calm the ball down overall. Anything 3 ½ to 5 ½ pin to pap is way too strong for me for asymmetric cores since my accident over 2 years ago. During the course of practicing and filming for my ball video I found the Proton to be stronger overall than any the Omega Crux that actually had a stronger pin to pap layout. I was thinking that with the 1 ½ inch pin drilling, it would be smooth rolling down the entire lane, but surprisingly I was not. It still saved plenty of energy in the front part of the lane to allow it to recover very nicely in the backend of the lane. Was also able to play straight with less hand and still hold up very well and was also to open up the front angle and still have plenty of strength to strike the pocket pretty hard. This is step up in strength from the new Roto Grip RST-X1 with similar layout.
Hands down the strongest ball available. The Physix line is now batting 1.000 and this one handles all the oil you could imagine. The trick is always getting the continuation threw the pins with these top shelve most aggressive balls. The Proton has more backend and continues threw the pins better then any ball in this category ever made!

Bought this for a fellow bowler who was having trouble getting her ball to roll harder. Moved her weight up and the more aggressive specs should definitely improve her scores.

Introducing the brand new Proton PhysiX! This is Storm's new big asymmetrical ball! This ball features the NeX Solid Reactive coverstock wrapped around the Atomic core! The NeX Solid Reactive was featured in the Axiom and, the atomic core was featured in the original PhysiX! This ball just flat out hooks and, is known as a "Hook Monster"! For me this is a great ball for heavier lane conditions or, for when the transition hits and, the backends don't have as much friction. Compared to my Axiom this ball is more aggressive overall where as my Axiom is cleaner through the fronts and aggressive down lane.
Do yourself a favor and go get one! Everyone needs a ball like this in their bag!
The Proton Physix is the newest addition to Storm’s Premier line of bowling balls. The Proton Physix features the Atomic Core and NeX Solid Reactive Cover Stock. This combination is a beast in the midlane with a ton overall motion. If you are looking for a huge backend ball the Proton Physix might not be the bowling ball for you. However, if you are looking for a bowling ball that will navigate heavier patterns with ease while keeping your angles comfortable than the Proton Physix is the bowling ball for you. The straighter players should love this bowling ball several reasons. Number 1, the Proton Physix HOOKS in the midlane. Number 2, readable and controllable aggression. The last reason, it smells like Frosted Cupcake. I laid my Proton Physix out with a 4 X 5 X 1 or dual angle 65 X 4 X25 and that is based off my PAP which is 5 5/8 over and ¾ up. I am a straighter player with lower revs approx. 300 and medium ball speed. The stronger pin placement is something I wanted to do with a strong asymmetrical bowling ball. I was extremely comfortable with the Proton Physix from start to finish and really did not have to worry about over under or carry down. The moves were not big and the mistakes were just terrible shots. I could see where a player who like to go around it would see bigger moves and maybe even changing balls. The Proton Physix is a Sure Lock but bigger overall motion with a smooth readable backend motion. The Proton Physix will be in my bowling bag because it HOOKS in the right spot.
For anyone that has enjoyed the Physix series will welcome this newest addition to that series. The AstroPhysix is one my favorite balls but always felt the cover on the Physix didn't quite match up with my game. BUT, that's not what I'm seeing out of the Proton Physix, for a big ball, this piece is versatile! I drilled my ball with a long pin placing the pin over the middle finger. This allowed me to move left and this would still recover on the fresh.
PAP 3 ¾ over 1” up ball speed 17 rev rate 475
Drilling-50x4 3/4x70
After days of contemplating what I want to with this Hook Monster I decided to go with smoother pin down drilling and allow this Big Asymmetrical Solid do its thing. Off the press this ball really wants to dig in the oil and create a lot of mid-lane roll, don't be afraid to move left and give this one some room. I see the Proton about 6 boards more overall than my UFO or Omega Crux with the same drilling. I also see some good versatility as well, while shooting my ball reaction video I found I was able to play multiple angles on the Fresh Oil House shot.
PAP 4 ½ over and 1 up ball speed 15 rev rate 275
Drilling-45x4 1/2x60
Strong Strong Strong, I love this piece. Right away I saw more overall hook than anything in my arsenal. I was able to move 4 to 6 boards further left than my Halo or UFO and had no trouble with the oil, The Proton Loves it!!! Usually I have to play a little closer to the track area on the fresh to see the break point and The Proton Physix lets me get in with the boys without losing any pin carry!!!
PROTON PHYSIX
The Proton Physix features the NEX solid cover that was also on the Axiom but with the Atomic core from the Physix line (RG=2.48, Diff=.054 int diff=.017).
Both the Physix and Astro Physix rolled really well for me and early talk from other staffers was that the Proton reminded them of the Sure Lock which I threw a ton, so needless to say I couldn’t wait for my Proton Physix.
I drilled my Proton 4x4x2 because I wanted a strong layout that I can use when the lanes are tight or for higher volume patterns. For me the Proton fits perfectly between my Gravity Evolve and the Omega Crux. The Proton is earlier than the Omega but hooks more down lane than the Evolve. What I really love about the Proton Physix is the versatility that the NEX cover offers in this big balls. I have tried the Proton at a few different grit surfaces and I have yet to find a shape that doesn’t look good.
If you are looking for a ball for heavy oil I don’t think you will find a better fit than the Proton Physix!
Last night at league play, I bowled against a man who was averaging 175 to 185. After 2 games he was sitting on a 520. He rolled over the 15 board at the arrows and never moved from that mark all night. He out did team members that average 220 or better! I would say this ball has something special.
I drilled my PROTON PHYSIX up 65 x 4.5 x 30. I have thrown it at box finish which is 2000.
The intent was to have a big hitter in my bag for long patterns and also ones with more volume that blended down lane. I found out some unique things throwing this and it has more utility than I ever imagined.
I threw this on a 47 ft. sport pattern called Statue of Liberty. The PROTON is at home on this kind of pattern. Good motion and enough cover out of the box to grab the lane and strike pretty frequently. I put it side by side with the RST-X1 and IDOL SYNERGY. The X-1 was about 4 and 2 back to the right and also slightly softer speed. The IDOL SYNERGY was another 4 and 2 right of the X-1 and much slower down the lane compared to both balls.
I also got to throw this in a 50 and over tournament club that used a house pattern. This was one of the most over walled house patterns I have played on in awhile. While my RST-X1 was the look to start, by game 3 that was starting to go away and forcing me left. Now I was in wet/dry zone. On a hunch, I balled up to the PROTON PHYSIX and had enough grab to get on the wetter part of the cliff but enough control that slight misses right just rolled up and stopped. That is refreshing because now another potential use for the ball and to get in the puddle on wet/dry and control the edge of the cliff.

This is undoubtedly the strongest ball I have had in my bag in quite some time. I am just going to come out and say the ONLY thing I don’t like about this ball is that it is pink. But that is obviously a very personal opinion of something that doesn’t affect the balls performance on the lanes. Seeing as the original Physix is one of my all-time favorite balls I was very excited when Storm announced they would be wrapping the Atomic Core with the NeX solid cover. Even though the Proton is an asymmetrical bowling ball the NeX cover stock has allowed me to have “control” over this ball. I never feel as if it jumps off of the spot too quick like an asymmetric pearl would. The only ball I could compare its strength to is the Sure Lock, it just digs into the oil unlike anything I have seen since the Sure Lock was released.
Holy Hook Batman! This is by far the strongest ball, out of the box, that I have ever thrown! This bad boy is some how early and some how still manages to generate a bunch of angle down lane. I bowl mostly on house conditions, there is no way I could leave this at box finish and throw it…ever. I took quite a bit of surface off of it. I hit it with a 3000 pad and then again with a 4000 pad. This allowed the ball to be cleaner through the front, and generating a very strong motion down lane. This is for sure for the bowler that needs to cut through the oil on a loaded up house shot with a hard lane surface like ProAnvilane.

The newer asymmetrical bowling ball that Storm has created. This ball features the NeX Solid Reactive Coverstock wrapped around the Atomic Core. The NeX Solid Reactive was featured In the Axiom and the Atomic Core was featured in the original Physix.
My Proton is drilled with the pin above the bridge - which is about 3 inches away from my PAP. I have the MB kicked away right. This ball hooks a TON out of the box. By far and away the most aggressive ball that Storm has created, in my opinion. From start to finish this ball is very aggressive. The Proton is a great option for anyone that bowls on heavier oil conditions.
I might only have one 177 average ipoll once a week the first night I use this ball my first game was 213 it felt great coming off my hand I will definitely as often as I can I love the way it broke in the back end and when it hit the pocket depends just exploded

By far my favorite Storm ball is the original Physix and I was upset when it came time to see it on the discontinued list. It’s ok I still have one NIB. But with the release of the Proton Physix I was excited to see the updated version of my favorite piece in my arsenal. Now with the new NeX Solid coverstock this ball is stronger which makes it read the lane earlier and has a more rounder shape off the dry down the lane compared to the original Physix.
This is not a ball to use all the time. I bowl in a league with an older surface where the house uses a higher volume to have the shot hold up during our league. Topography issues at its best from week to week. Last year I was able to use the Physix and Phaze II throughout the year because they used Fire oil. This year they changed to Ice oil and the original Physix was not early enough on the fresh house pattern. I drilled the Proton specifically to help me with the higher volume and oil until they begin to transition.
On sport patterns for my game I will be using this ball on longer lengths of 43’ and longer. Also with the solid cover keep the abralons handy to give yourself the optimal reaction on the higher volumes of oil. I primarily use 1000 on the solid covers because 500 make the balls read the lane too early for my rev rate and speed.

The Storm Proton Physix is a ball you need when you are on those slicker lanes and your ball just doesn’t get going soon enough. This ball is a hook monster. This will help you “open the lane”. Tracks through the oil very well, hit the dry and this ball moves sharp off the spot. It gets through the heads fairly clean as long as you have oil, reads the mid-lane earlier than the original Physix and finishes very strong and powerful. It hits with so much power, pins explode. I was able to play the big puddle of oil on the THS and play deeper from the start. You’ll have to increase speed as the oil goes away or move in deeper. It’s the perfect compliments to the Physix series when you need earlier and stronger. My PAP is 5-1/8 and 1/8 up. Usually around 15-16mph, I’d probably be classified between and tweener and cranker.
Brian Sumner Jan 20, 2021
The Storm Proton Physix is the solid cover-stock version of the Physix line of bowling balls. With the NEX cover and the larger Atomic core, this ball, like the others in the Physix family, wants to rev up quick and dig in.
I went with my favorite 75x4.5x45 layout. I was very happy with how well this aggressive cover and core dealt with the wet/dry pattern and wood surface I tested on. Where compared to anything peal the Proton Physix blended the hard edge of the pattern while the pearl stood up and rolled out. The Proton Physix opened the pattern for me and got stronger and stronger the more I moved in.
You’re going to get what you expect out of this ball. It’s ability to pick up, recover and take a hard arc to the pocket is precisely why this ball will work on a range of patterns from medium to heavy volume.

When using this high performance bowling, I tend to look for a place that has very heavy oil so I can get the continuous motion that ball maintains.
I try to keep this ball in the oil as long as possible because if I don't the ball will burn up in friction. Once the ball burns up it will not have enough energy to the pocket. THIS BALL NEEDS OIL!
Bowlers who are speed dominate and not rev rate dominate will absolutely love this ball.
I have never had a ball that goes through the pins as good as this one on the fresh, picks up very strong in the mid lane and doesn’t quit down lane, flat out amazing ball

The new Proton Physix takes two powerhouse performers; the Atomic core featured in the Physix and Astro Physix combined with the NEX solid cover featured on the original Axiom. The result is... you guessed it, HOOK! The NEX coverstock's Nano formulation will dominate high volume patterns while the Atomic core provides the hook and hit.
I tested the Proton Physix (or attempted to) on my normal house shot. My league house is notorious for friction in the front of the lane. It didn't take many shots to figure out that even on a freshly oiled lane, the cover of the Proton Physix would not ignore the front of the lane enough to be useful for me in league. Rather than trying to make it work, I opted to wait until I was on a condition where it would be right. I got my opportunity when the pattern league in our house put out the PBA Dragon pattern. I managed to get some practice in on a freshly dressed lane and boy oh boy did the Proton look great.
I usually try to get a feel for what a ball will do in multiple parts of the lane. On 45 feet of oil I often don't feel like I have the flexibility to play different parts of the lane. I first tried playing straighter with the Proton, using the friction in the track but not really trying to be under the ball. The Proton was exceptional here, probably due partly to the weaker layout I had opted for. This by far was the area where I felt like i had the most miss room. The cover corrected shots where I was a bit too clean out of the ball and the pattern length gave me plenty of hold. I then figured I'd move in and play where I would normally play when looking at the graph, a slight left to right fade but keeping the ball fairly tight to the headpin. This also gave me a good look, somewhat better than i was expecting as I usually opt for ball that are a little quicker to create the angle in a smaller window down-lane. The ball would save shots that leaked a bit into the track but I could still overthrow the ball and take three off the right if missed it with this angle. This again may have been due to the layout I chose. I didn't spend alot of time deeper and trying to roll it as I felt with the slower transition layout I had less miss room as I got left.
My takeaway from the testing was that I wouldn't recommend the Proton Physix in any house where you don't have oil in the front of the lane. It should look best on house shots for Rev Challenged/Speed Dominant players. However this is a ball that any bowler who bowls on tournament patterns should own.
My single criticism is that this ball is too strong for higher friction surfaces and lower speed bowlers.

I purchased this ball although I am no where near a great bowler lol (I’m a beginner). At first I was a little intimidated by the ball and claimed it was too good for me and I was wasting my time but I am starting to get better with it and I shot a 210 the other day. I love my ball it’s so pretty and smells really great.

Asymmetrical balls and I have a hard time matching up, it has taken me a while to see what the Proton would really do. This ball hits like a TANK!! The more I throw it the better it got. Now I really like the ball motion and how strong it is. I drilled this OOB 45 x 4 x 30. Which puts the pin above my ring finger a little taller. I left the cover OOB. I am not sure I like the layout I have on it I am thinking I will drill another a little different. But it is working. For me, the Proton is smooth and predictable with a strong backend motion. It picks up well and does not seem to lose energy for me as some Asymmetrical balls do. A I have a hard time getting Asymmetrical to get through the pins without burning up and getting the right shape. I can move in and trust the ball will turn the corner which is very difficulty for me since I am a speed dominant lower rev player. I can see myself using this right out to the bag on the fresh. This ball has a lot of versatility a home run for Storm in the Physix lineup.
After having a bunch of success with the original Physix and Astro Physix, the Proton is the newest addition to the Premier Line. After drilling two Proton’s so far, it’s earned the spot as the strongest ball in my bag. I’ve had a bunch of success on multiple patterns with the Proton and it goes everywhere with me. With an RG of 2.48 and differential of .053, the Proton is best used for heavier volume patterns and tighter lane surfaces.
The first one I drilled is mapped out as 5.5 x 5 x 75 and I tweaked the surface to 4000 and water. This still left the teeth in the coverstock because I didn’t want to use polish, and the Proton flies through the front and provides a quicker, but forward motion down-lane. This has been a perfect ball to use after a pattern blends and I need to open up my angles.
The second one I drilled is mapped out as 4 x 4 x 50 and I’ve since hit the surface with a 1000 pad. This has been a perfect ball for the longer patterns with more volume. I’ve had success keeping this Proton in front of me without opening up my angles too much. Overall, the two I’ve drilled compliment each other nicely and can be used on multiple patterns.
If you need a “bigger” ball in your bag that can be used on multiple patterns, drill a Proton Physix!

Wow does this ball hook! This is definitely the strongest ball in the bag and for sure one of the strongest balls on the market. Also surprisingly clean through the fronts as well. It does hook earlier than everything else I have but not as early as I expected with the 2000 ab finish and NeX cover. Storm says if gives more midlane read than ever without sacrificing backend and for me it does just that! If you need a little extra help from the ball or want something to tackle those higher volume patterns this is the ball you're looking for.
I consider myself a tweener and a bit of a spinner. I used the pin buffer layout system on this one and went with 3 ¾ x 3 ¾ x 1 ¾.

The Proton has everything a bowler wants in a ball. Sharp color, strong cover and shape downlane. The original Physix was an all time classic ball for me but it wasn’t always able to handle longer/heavier patterns. The Proton’s NeX cover resolves that small issue and still provides shape downlane that you don’t always get from the strongest of bowling balls.
The Proton is an easy ball to recommend. From lower rev rate, high speed players to rev rate dominant players, everyone seems to like the Proton!
Video Review:
In our ball reaction video for the Proton, we compare it to the Roto Grip Rubicon. The Proton is the perfect ball for more heavily oiled fresh patterns and the Rubicon is a perfect transitional ball that clears the front better and pops a bit more downlane as the lane breaks down.

The Storm Proton Physix utilizes the new Atomic Core and the NRG Hybrid Coverstock. The aim here was to fill the reaction slot between the Storm Sure Lock and Storm Code X. We have success! We saw that exact intended motion - not as early as the Sure Lock but a little earlier breakpoint than the Code X. The Storm Proton PhysiX had good continuation at the pocket, which was the case with the Storm HyRoad X as well. The Storm Proton PhysiX will be a good option on medium to longer patterns for us rev challenged seniors and the speed dominant bowlers.

The Proton Physix has offered success to anyone who has made the decision to add one to their arsenal. With its strong core and cover combination, it allows for amazing shape for players of all styles. Both low and high revolutions players will find an ability to generate room and angle on patterns of all lengths. This is one of the most versatile balls I have seen in the past 10 years, allowing players to stay right and minimize angles and move left and generate more angle. Due to this high versatility, it has a place in every player's arsenal.
I personally laid out this ball pin down in order to be successful on fresh medium/longer patterns. So far, this ball has given me more room and more of the pocket to carry at the start of days then I have had in my arsenal for years. The Proton Phsyix is truly one of a kind and I recommend it to any player for their tournament/league arsenal.
All in all, if you're looking for something that is going to bring you success, buy this ball!

Can you polish this ball and get the same reaction? I prefer a polished ball!

Super strong ball with great rotation. Should not be rolled on dry lanes it pulls quickly it’s no use trying. But with oil you have an active ball

i had both the Physix and the astro physix so getting the proton drilled up was a no brainer. The proton physix is the newest big dull asym from storm. It has the NEX cover that makes it read the midlane very well and have that strong continuous motion. This ball is good for any rev player. Don't miss out on the 3rd ball in the physix's line.
When it comes to the physix line I have nothing but great expectations from here on out!! I loved my Astro and now with the addition of the Proton I am very excited how these two can take over the lanes in different ways. The Astro is great for me later in blocks when I need to chase it left when they start hooking to much. I can get it down the lane enough not to lose energy for me but still get that backend pop. As for the Proton Physix I can use this on tougher longer patters by far my most hooking ball when it comes it tournaments. I can also start with the Proton in league then drop down to my Astro. Don’t have any negative feed back on this one.

One of the best balls i have ever thrown!! Eric R at Imperial MO shop is a mad genius with getting my arsenals layed out and did not disappoint once again. Highly recommend him to anyone in the St. Louis area.

The new addition to the Storm Premier Line is Proton Physix. I have had good success with the regular Physix and Astro. The Proton I drilled pin up 5 .25 x 5 x 2.5.
With the very strong NeX Solid coverstock the Proton for me needs some oil especially up front. I added some shine to the cover and it gave me the extra that I needed.
But this ball is very strong, but with Atomic core it does continue real through the pins.
Compared to the popular Global Reality, I think the Proton has more down lane motion.
If your looking for a Big Ball for longer or higher volume patterns the Proton is your ball!

The Proton Physix is the new true heavy-oil ball in Storm's lineup, and is the strongest ball being produced out of Utah. It has a massive amount of midlane roll to dig through any heavy oil pattern, while still retaining enough energy to go through the pins very well. Even though it is a very strong ball, it does not roll as early as the heavy oil balls of past generations. This allows it to be used whenever there is a good bit of head oil. The Proton Physix has more overall motion than the recently released Incite, which is cleaner through the front part of the lane with a more pronounced backend reaction. The Proton Physix is not the best ball choice for drier lanes, though the ball was certainly not created to be used on those conditions.

The Proton Physix is newest addition to the popular Physix’s line. This is first Physix designed to handle heavy oil, with the Nano Extreme Solid Reactive Cover Stock and Atomic Core. As expect with strong cover the Proton Physix’s read early, but surprisingly had a lot of energy on the backend for a continuous motion with great pin carry. This ball will definitely be in my bag for heavier and longer oil patterns. Ball was tested on PBA Shark Pattern 48 feet; I was able to play track area with great success. First, some stats about me. I am a medium speed (15-16 MPH) player and slightly rev dominant. Last I checked, rev rate around 380 RPM. My A game is playing the middle part of the lane on a house pattern (between 15 and 20 at the arrows) but do not have a problem moving to either extreme if the pattern calls for it. My PAP is 4 7/16 over by 5/16 up.
The layout used on the ball is a 40 x 4 3/8 x 65. I set this up to be a perfect ball to get into a roll early and be nice and round downlane. I wanted it for use when the pattern has heavy volume or some length to it.
The lane surface at my home house, Port Huron Lanes in Port Huron, MI, is Brunswick ProLane with a 42' medium volume house oil pattern.
Overall, this ball was much too strong for our local house condition, as I was forced to start in around 4th arrow with my normal hand release. This ball's tendency to be very slow up front held true but to my surprise, still had some punch downlane when I thought it would be dead on arrival. It was still very responsive to hand position changes, even with the super strong cover. I can see this ball being a perfect matchup for the lower rev or speed dominant players. For my style, this ball is going to nestle itself into that tournament "big ball" slot in my bag and be exactly what I drilled it for! Go get one today!
The Proton Physix features the same Atomic core found in the original Physix and the Astrophysix, and features the Nex solid coverstock previously found on the Axiom. This combination makes the most hooking ball in Storm’s lineup. This will be the first ball out of the bag on the heavier volume patterns. Compared to the Axiom, the Proton Physix is more angular on the backend and a good 3 to 4 boards more overall hook. The surprising thing to me about this ball, is the recovery it has the deeper you have to move and open up your angles thru the front part of the lanes. For me, the bigger asymmetrical balls tend to go forward to soon to play big angles but that is not the case with this ball. For me this ball is best when playing straighter up the boards on the heavy patterns, but it is much more versatile than most big hook balls. As long as there is a good amount of oil towards the middle of the lane, this ball allows me to get in and throw it to the dry and has plenty of downlane recovery. Strokers in particular will really like the overall hook the Proton Physix provides but all styles will be able to use this sneaky versatile hook monster.
The Proton Physix is the third release in the premium line of bowling balls from Storm, the Bowler's company to use the Atomic weight block, but with the added feature of the new NeX solid reactive coverstock that is factory finished with a 2000 grit abralon pad. The bright magenta, black, and violet really stands out on the ball return. The numbers on the Proton Physix in 15lb weights are 2.48 rg, 0.053 diff, and 0.017 intermediate diff.
I drilled my Proton Physix with a layout of 4.5 X 2 X 4. This is the same layout I have on Gravity Evolve that is always in the bag for tournaments. The Proton Physix reads the fronts, the midlane, and the backend stronger than what the Evolve does. The NeX solid cover really likes large amounts of oil. Comparing the Proton to an Axiom with the same pin placement, the Proton is a lot more defined at the breakpoint and rolls heavier toward the pins. The Proton Physix needs oil, and I seem to have the best look when there is some carry-down on the backend of the lane. If I can’t get hook or backend reaction out of any of my other bowling balls, I know that I can get motion from my Proton Physix. I have used the Proton at the factory finish of 2000, as well as sanded to a lower grit of 1000, and still get motion throughout the lane.
The Proton Physix is a hook monster and likes oil, and lots of it. This ball will be a great ball for bowlers that are speed dominant and maybe don’t have such a high rev rate. Higher rev players will need lots of oil for the Proton to perform as Storm intended it to. If you are looking for big traction with shape on the lane, look no further than the Proton Physix. Bowl up a Storm!!

This product surprised me the first time throwing it, its a gem of a bowling ball in these times with so many others on the market. The ease of control and be able to see it very clearly how it reads and trancends down the lane. It's a monster of a ball Cannot wait to use in Tournaments and Leagues.

I bought this ball for heavy oil shots
Our sports league is on a 45 foot oil pattern
This ball was an absolute waste of money
On a normal league night I average 220
Tonight with this ball freshly drilled my best game with it was a 120
Save your money and don’t buy this junk

This ball is always the first ball out of my bag. I'm really impressed with the versatility of this ball. As someone who struggles with trying to lower my ball speed, the NEX cover allows me to keep my speed up without disrupting my timing. I feel the Proton Physics pairs great with the Incite.

Got everybody saying that they don't like the ball then don't get a string a-sym, this ball is fantastic and is so easy to control. Definitely has some monster hook but can be taken down a knotch if needed too. I love opening league with this ball and I never seem to have an issue finding reaction

The strongest bowling ball I've ever thrown, but also extremely controllable. Just make sure you have a ton of oil though.
