The Storm Super Nova is the newest ball in the premier line. This ball has the same coverstock as the Proton Physix and Axiom. This ball reminds me of a 900 Global Reality just not as responsive. The Super Nova gave me a look that was Cleaner than other big balls and still responded off the dry vs burning up like other big solids. This ball will be able to be used on a variety of conditions and patterns. This ball is about 4-5 stronger than the Nova and has a better response off of the friction. Super Nova review
Another new release I was excited to get my hands on. The Nova is a ball I have several of, so this one was definitely one to look forward to. It is strong, as expected. What I didn't expect was how much it continued on the back of the lane. On THS, strong asymmetrical solids roll great for me, but have a tendency to burn up, especially if I get it right. Out of the box, I was able to use it my first night of league and was immediately impressed. The ball rolled great through the oil, stronger than my Gem, but still hit hard if I got it to the dry. On the burn after league I was able to get way left of my comfort zone and still have a good look. Definitely something else I don't normally have when I lose my look. This ball will be getting plenty of use this season. Can't wait for some longer pattern events.

not bad out the box on league night. definitely aggressive on the house pattern but depending on your line and speed it is useable.

The Storm Super Nova features the NeX Solid cover, Ignition core, and comes at 2000-grit out of box. Out of box this ball was a bit too strong for our house pattern and would burn up too quickly. I reset the surface to 3k and let it lane shine for a couple games. This is where the ball really looks the best for me. I compared this ball to the original Nova and it is earlier and a bit smoother down lane. It forces me left about 3-5 boards compared to the Nova on our house shot. I had a chance to throw the Super Nova on a 44ft/28mL sport pattern and it looked really great. I was able to move right or move in and get to the pocket with no issues. I threw the Nova on there as well but it was just a bit too sharp off the spot or had some issues getting back to the pocket.. The Super Nova is really going to shine on higher volume sport or house shots.

Storm’s new Super Nova is an Asymmetrical Solid piece that is good for Heavy lane conditions. PAP is 5 5/16 R 1 3/16 Up. Fragrance is Fruit Pop. Drilled it with the Pin above the Ring, CG kicked out 1”, and MB 1” from the Thumb. Out of Box motion was good length with continuous backend motion through the pins. This piece was 2-4 more than the Proton Physix, and 3-5 more than the Infinite PhysiX. If you are looking for a Heavy oil piece this is the one to get.
United States
Storm Super Nova features the Ignition Core that was found in the Nova, RG 2.49, 0.052 Diff and PSA 0.019, and is wrapped around the NEX Solid cover and finished at 2000 grit. I drilled mine 5 x 5.5 x 2 which is also the same way I drilled my Nova. I have thrown this ball a couple times now and I’ve been really impressed with the reaction of this ball. I first used it at the RPI Regional the last 3 games of qualifying and actually blended out the entire lane. Next time I threw it on the house shot and I was still super impressed because it didn’t burn up and plaque nor did it overreact when I got it to the dry super quick. This ball will be a very versatile piece in my bag because I will be able to use it after my Proton Physix on longer patterns and those medium length heavier volume patterns. To sum up this versatile ball, I would say a stronger Phaze 2 type of reaction.

Layout: 30 x 4.5 x 30
Surface: Box Surface
The Super Nova brings back the Ignition Core from the original Nova with the NEX Solid Coverstock from the Proton Physix. The first thing I can say about this ball is STRONG! This ball definitely needs a good amount of oil to be most successful. Normally, these type of balls are not in my current arsenal because of my high rev rate and will not be for regular league play. The Super Nova was essentially too early and overall too strong to get the best reaction through the pins. It actually forced me to be so far left with my feet, that its carry percentage decreased. If I wanted to use this consistently for league play, I would actually use polish on the surface to promote more length and a slightly more angular backend for better overall ball reaction.
Although, this is not the best ball for my style for league play, it comes in handy a lot in tournaments where there is generally significant more oil volume and generally longer lengths. I have used the original Nova a lot in tournaments to blend out harder oil patterns and to create straighter angles. The Super Nova will be no different here but allow me to move further left on the lane where the original Nova did not allow me to. The added strength of the coverstock allows me to move into the heavier volumes of oil without losing its backend reaction. Comparative to the Proton Physix, I saw earlier and stronger overall motion. Where the Proton Physix did not hook as much, the Super Nova continued through the pin deck well. I will continue to use the Super Nova primarily in tournament play, especially on longer and heavier oil patterns.

The Super Nova is the new big ball on the block. Featuring the very strong NEX Solid cover, this ball feels like a step up from the 900 Global Reality. The Nova core makes this ball backend and continue a lot, where balls like the Proton Physix and Gem get more forward and straighten out on the back part of the lane. The Reality was the first solid asym we saw that really continued through the pins, and the Super Nova feels like a step up from that. NEX Solid is stronger and earlier, but the Nova core helps this ball still split the 8-9 even from deeper/bigger angles.

The Storm Super Nova utilizes the new Ignition Core and the NEX Solid reactive cover. We tested against the original Storm Nova, which was a hybrid. The Storm Super Nova is impressive. It is quickly becoming one of my favorites the more I throw it. I like the versility and how easy it is to control the pocket with it. The Super Nova was a touch earlier than the Nova but still had continuation on the backend. The Super Nova will be my No. 1 (first ball used on heavy oil) in my 6-ball arsenal. #Stormnation

The 3 latest Storm releases will create instant versatility in your bag and cover a variety of bases for any lane condition. The Super Nova is the strongest of the 3 designed for heavy oil conditions. The Night Road and Phaze 5 are designed for those medium conditions.
For those that enjoyed the Proton Physix the shape seen from the Super Nova will be comparable. When battling heavy oil and/or tight conditions the Super Nova will be an excellent selection to manage that environment. The Super Nova has one of the strongest covers Storm manufacturers and compliments this core very well. There is plenty of control with this high end asym and would be a cleaner option against the Gem which is earlier with more arc.
The Night Road which boasts a higher RG will be good for those early hooking surfaces early on or as a step down off the bigger balls like the Super Nova. I see this ball fitting in my bag on the early hooking surfaces so I can keep everything in front of me early on without giving away the pocket. I have found the sanded finish provides plenty of blend off the backend as opposed to the stronger angular shapes we seen from the Hy-Road Pearl. Also, do not be afraid to polish this ball to create a longer more angular shape.
The Phaze 5 like the other Phaze balls does not disappoint. a direct replacement for the 4 the 5 provides plenty of continuation down lane when making its move off the spot. This ball will go with me everywhere I bowl and be that step down ball off the bigger asym or solid sym's. When you are looking to start creeping in and opening those angles up this ball will be one of your best assets.

The next addition to the Nova line, Storm brings you the all new Super Nova. The same core found in the original Nova wrapped around the NeX Coverstock found on the Proton Physix. I think this cover and core combo suites this ball very well and is a great replacement for the Proton Physix in my bag. For me, I found the proton to be too early and angular to play straighter angles and over under when I had to move in with a big ball. My eye just didn’t fit with that ball, but this Super Nova is perfect. You’ll see in the ball video I made that I can play my A Game and stay firm and straight and the ball picks up and continues through the pins nicely and it gets the job done slow curving them from inside and still making it around the corner.
I see myself drilling a couple of these for sure! This ball will be great on medium to long patterns with some oil on the lanes. Get yours at your local Storm VIP Pro Shop soon!

The new Super Nova is a what I currently use first ball out of the bag. It gives a very smooth shape to blend out the wet dry of league game 1. I did have to add some polish to the surface as with my tilt the ball was too early and lazy down lane. Even with adding the polish, I still get a smooth predictable motion. I feel this ball is good for players that are speed dominant. I also thing this is a good fit for someone looking for a very smooth ball. For me this ball is best playing up the boards. I am able to get left and get around the ball more, but that is not where this ball is it’s best.

The Super Nova is a great compliment to the original Nova, which is a staple in my bag right now. It is a bit earlier than the Nova, which makes its motion a bit smoother and more controllable. The Super Nova for me is the first ball out of my bag on medium and long patterns, and the first ball I use right after urethane on short oil patterns. I drilled my Super Nova with a 4 1/4 inch pin, making it even smoother than if I went with a long pin, and I love the reaction I get from it. I have it even earlier than the Reality, so those two along with the Nova are the only balls I need on fresh patterns with some volume. I can’t wait to throw this ball more in the coming months!

The Super Nova features the “super” strong and durable NeX Solid coverstock that we’ve had on the Axiom and Proton PhysiX, and the returning strong asymmetric Ignition core from the Nova and the Gate series overseas. I always say it, but it bears repeating that NeX solid is very clean and responsive for how much it hooks, this helps it bridge the gap between typical strong asym balls that get a lot of traction but are often slow and lazy down lane, and other balls that create length and shape but don’t have the traction to be stable and controllable on heavier conditions. The Super has the strength and shape of something like the Reality or Proton PhysiX but that’s more stable and controllable due to the naturally rolly and slightly slower revving of the Ignition core vs most other asyms. This gives it a combination of traction and shape that lower rev rates and higher speeds have trouble finding, while at the same time giving higher rev rates a stronger option that doesn’t burn up at the arrows. It’s a great compliment to the original Nova, more traction and a quicker friction response while still maintaining the same general look or roll. The Super is an incredibly versatile ball that can be used on several different conditions, lane surfaces, and from several different angles by a number of bowling styles.

Holy Hook Monster! This thing GOES! The Super Nova is the next ball with the NEX Solid cover which is the same as what came on the Proton Physix. To be honest, this ball was way too early for the house shot right out of the box. I hit mine with a wet 4000 pad ever so slightly, literally 2 seconds on each side. Once I hit it with the wet 4k, the SuperNova was able to get thru the fronts and start to do its work in the mids and down lane.
This ball is a definite upgrade to the original Nova which I did not get a long with. The OG Nova forced me too far left but wouldn’t recover when I needed it to.
The Super Nova I am able to chase left as long as there is enough volume to support it!
This one is LEGIT!
My Layout is 4x5x2
Other balls getting a lot of play:
Dark Code-4x6x2
Night Road-4.5x4.5x3.75
RST-X3-4x5x2
Wolverine Dark Moss-4.25x5.25x2
United States
The Storm Super Nova with a 2000 surface and NeX coverstock technology is very strong ball! The layout is 5 x 4 x 2.5 which for me is pin over the ring finger and a strong mass bias which is usually around 2 inches away from the my thumb. With this layout I get great length with a sharper back end reaction and man does it give me that!
Using it during league where there has been a lot of high friction it would only work for about a game then put it up. After a couple weeks using it I decided to adjust the surface with a 4000 abralon pad on the spinner to smooth out the surface because the out the box surface there is not enough oil volume so changing to 4000 makes a total difference of the ball to where I can still play the same shot but can stay in it longer and doesn’t take off down lane or quits. Looking for a ball that has more room than the original Nova the Super Nova will be the one!

Storms new Premier Line release is the Super Nova. It ended up being a pretty super team up. The ignition core wrapped in the NEX solid cover. Strong Cover and Strong core is a great combo for those higher oil volumes and the Super Nova might just be the best ball when you need that kind of power.
The original Nova was a midlane beast for me but it did feel a bit conditional after a while. You need oil in the heads and it could get too forward off the back of the pattern pretty quickly if you didn't have the ball speed to play closer to the friction.
Because of this I was a bit worried that putting an even stronger cover on the same core would probably exacerbate the problem but happily I was mistaken.
I threw the Nova on the fresh 43 ft High volume house pattern at my home center. I think I see so much more continuation out of the Super Nova because I never really feel the need to over work the ball with my hand to get it to read the right part of the lane. I was amazed first night out in league because I felt like I could basically point the Super Nova at the ten pin, let it get there and it would come back from anywhere. Sometimes when I'm trying to generate speed I have a tendency to grab on the ball, but it's usually because I feel like I can't miss the ball at all when I'm trying to throw harder or it's not going to read where I need it to. The Super Nova does all the reading for you, you just gotta get it there!
This is going to be one of those great "hook in a box" releases like the Virtual Gravity was so get one of these in the hands of your speed dominant bowlers ASAP. Everyone else will figure out how good it is too before long.

The Storm Super Nova features the Ignition core which has been featured in a number of international releases. This second addition in a stateside release has been a hit. For those that are looking for a similar motion to the Storm Proton Physix or the Nova will enjoy the Super Nova.
For my review I took the fresh factory 2K finish and hit the ball four sides with a new 4K pad. For me, this allows the Super Nova to clear the front part of the lane a bit easier until some lane shine migrates onto the ball. This works well for players that tend to have slower ball speeds. You'll notice in a few games your new solid will calm down from the oob finish.
In comparing the Super Nova to the original Nova, the Super Nova features the NeX coverstock that digs earlier then the original Nova which is R2X Reactive Hybrid. Before rolling the Super Nova, I had the impression that the Super Nova would be to much ball. To my surprise the Super Nova has earned a spot in the arsenal. The ball provides an early read with excellent control off the spot and carries well through the roll phase. Similar to my Nova which off the spot is one of the most predictable balls to read downlane.
In regards to transition, I really enjoyed the Nova and the Super Nova doesn't disappoint as well. Both balls allow a great deal of forgiveness and it is easy to see when you will need to make a change. Both balls together make a nice one two punch if you desire the same type of motion through out a block of bowling.
Be sure to try out a Storm Super Nova and fill that gap for fresh league and heavier volume tournament patterns. I'm definitely excited to use the Super Nova more in tournament competion. Please be sure to visit your favorite pro shop today!

Storm Super Nova: Ignition core with NeX solid reactive cover stock,
with the cover being prepped at 2000ab. When drawing up the layout, I
usually use a longer pin to pap on the stronger ASYS cores but went a
different direction with this one with a layout of 80 x 1 ½ x 65.
Comparing it to the Storm Nova, the motion was so much earlier and
STRONGER than the Nova and the Infinite Physix. Knowing that the ball
would be so much stronger than I need on the center that has the older
HPL, I decided to use it at the other center I bowl and practice at that
has ever SPL and much better blended pattern from the outside boards
and in towards the middle of the lane. I could not imagine how I could
use a stronger pin to pap on this ball on this THS and lane panels, the
short pin allows earlier movement, and the ball still stored a HUGE
amount of energy going into the hook and roll stage of the ball motion.
The ball performed better than I expected because I am rev dominated
and tilt strong and usually have over / under reactions with stronger
ASYS cores. The NeX solid matches very well for me with this core. I see
a lot of STARS showing up on the scoreboard with this ball for me. It is
“out of this world”! If you are looking for that stronger than normal
performance ball, the Super Nova is an excellent choice.

The Storm Super Nova is the newest “Hook Monster” from Storm. It features the super strong NeX solid reactive coverstock that’s found on balls like the Proton PhysiX and Axiom, and the same Ignition Core from the original Nova. This core/cover combo produces a ball that’s great for those heavier volume oil patterns when you need the ball to read the midlane and gain traction in the oil. Compared to the Nova, I have the Super being a good 4-5 boards stronger, and both offer great stability and control in the midlane due to the Ignition Core.
The Super Nova has similar overall strength to the Proton PhysiX, but I see the Super Nova as being stronger in the midlane and slower down lane, whereas the Proton has slightly more shape on the backend most likely due to differences in the cores between the two. Given how much it hooks, I’ve only been able to throw the Super Nova a few times in league and tournament play, and I’ve let the ball naturally lane shine through use. In doing so, I actually see a reaction that fits my eye better – the ball is still super strong, but the little bit of lane shine helps it retain some energy and it shapes a little more on the backend than it did fresh out-of-box. For anyone looking for a strong and predictable ball for heavy oil, whether you’re a down-and-in player or you like to hook the lane, look no further. This will be very versatile on medium-heavy patterns and will be a great option for tackling those frustrating wet-dry house conditions. The Super Nova is a great compliment to the original Nova and there’s certainly room for both as part of your arsenal.

The Super Nova really got me excited with the use of the NeX Solid coverstock. This cover was on one of my favorite balls the Proton Physix. Needless to say, I was excited to try it out. Originally, I put a 45x4.5x30 layout on this ball to take advantage of its strength on flat fresh patterns. The results were a ball that dug in the oil like it had snow tires. It was very early and round in shape. Because of its strength I was not able to use it very often on house shots. The second one I drilled I decided to go with a much different layout (30x4x70). This layout tightens up the track flare and for me made it more useable on house shots. It still dug into the lane but helped to retain energy to make a strong and continuous move towards the pins. This is a great piece when for this higher volume oil patterns and fresh conditions.

The Super Nova is the latest addition to Storm’s Premier line and believe me this Super Nova does not disappoint. Storm has combined the ignition core with the NEX solid reactive cover stock. The NEX cover makes the Super Nova a lot stronger in the front and midlanes than the original Nova. Hook in a box! The Super Nova with the NeX Solid cover that is also on the Proton PhysiX, and the versatile Ignition core from the Nova offers a big strong ball option that doesn’t comprise shape down lane. Where I see the Super land best is between the Proton Physix/Gem and the Reality. The Proton and the Gem are earlier and smoother, but the reality is cleaner and has more shape down lane. I feel like the gap between these balls has been open for a while and the Super Nova fills it perfectly and it’s the shape that I can see being a house shot killer if your center has the oil for it or if you are a low rev/high speed player. I am SUPER happy to have this ball in the bag.

The Super Nova by Storm is one of the newest additions to the Premier Line. After the original Nova was produced, which I thought was a great piece, the Super Nova feels like a similar ball, but on steroids. The RG is 2.49, differential is .052, and with the Ignition Core, the Super Nova is designed to be used on patterns with heavier volume. After drilling one so far, I’ve noticed a heavy rolling ball that has a perfect place in my tournament bag.
The one I drilled is mapped out as 5.5 x 4 x 70. To make it more usable in league, I put it on the spinner with water and a 2000 pad. The most success I’ve had with it has been on heavier volume patterns and where I have to keep my angles tight. This ball digs early, often, yet continues through the 8-pin. From a comparison stand point, I don’t think the Super Nova is as early as the Gem, but I think it’s earlier than the Reality.
If you need a ball that is designed for heavier volume, rolls heavy, digs early and often, the Super Nova is the next ball you should drill.

Hey everyone, I'm back with another ball review, and this time it's for the Storm Super Nova and in 15 pounds this ball is wrapped in the NeX solid cover stock and comes at 2000 abralon with an RG of 2.49, Diff of .052 and A MB of .019 with a layout of 3.5X4X2,5
It is very easy to say how pleased I am with this ball. Off the press in league I shot 300/748 in the center that has been giving me the most challenges this year. The OG Nova was a tad chuggy for me, but this Super is just that. SUPER house shot ball! It blends the lane very well without being jumpy off the spot. This is a ball that I see being used on many different patterns from many different player styles. This ball takes surface changes very well and for that I would put this ball in the bag you take everywhere.

The Storm Super Nova features the same Ignition Core as in the original Nova but encases it in the NEX solid reactive coverstock. The Super Nova comes finished at 2000 grit abralon. I drilled the Super Nova with the same layout as the original Nova which is 65 x 5 x 40. For me the Nova, was a great ball as long as I could keep my angles closed and not have to throw it away from the pocket. So, when they brought out the Super Nova I wasn’t sure I would really have much use for it. But the Super Nova is more continuous on the backend than the Nova which allows me to have my angles more open. Don’t misunderstand me, this ball still requires a good amount of oil to have success, but it is much more forgiving for me than the Nova. Comparing the hook between the two, I have the Super Nova a tad cleaner than the Nova but more continuous on the backend, providing about 2 to 3 boards of more total hook than its predecessor. This ball is a must have for heavier volume patterns.
United States
The Super Nova has many of the attributes that made the Nova popular but while the original was great for its control the Super has a much quicker stronger reaction at the breakpoint. Still enough control to blend out a pattern but if carry was trouble for you with the original the Super will solve that problem.

The Super Nova features the same ignition core found in the original Nova but is now wrapped in NEX solid. I was a huge fan of NEX on the Proton and used it almost exclusively as my go-to ball on the crest until the Reality and Gem were released. The Super Nova for me is fairly unique. It’s a little easier through the front part of the lane compared to the Gem but not quite as quick downlane as the Reality. I think it’s going to be a great option for me as a ball up on shorter patterns when urethane starts bailing downlane. I personally don’t see myself throwing this ball a ton on the higher ratio patterns as it’s a little too forward off the end of the pattern with the layout I put on it. Compared to the Nova, the Super Nova is a good zone earlier and more forward off the end of the pattern. Be sure to stop into your local Storm VIP pro shop and pick up your very own Super Nova today!

If you need more hook than the Nova then here you go! This ball is similar to the proton physix maybe a touch longer in my opinion. I was super excited to see Storm continue this line!

This ball is my new favorite because of how smooth the hook is and how controllable this ball is on those medium to long oil patterns!

Storm Super Nova = BIG BALL!!!
This is perhaps the most controllable hook monster I’ve come across. The Super Nova has a slightly different overall feel than the Gem. It definitely moves me a couple of boards left of the Gem but it gives me the angular motion I’m accustomed to. The Gem has a more forward backend motion, especially from tighter angles.
This Super Nova is most definitely meant for heavy oil conditions. I struggled slightly due to our house shot being pretty heavy on friction to start. I could dial it in but I had to sweat a little to do so. On your league conditions, you could easily throw this ball the first two games and maybe the third depending on how the lanes are transitioning. Stop by your local pro shop to check out the new Super Nova!

Currently Residing in New Mexico, I don’t get a chance to bowl on enough oil to use the Super Nova. I use it, but I have to shine it which completely defeats the purpose of the ball. I have the ball drilled with a 5 inch pin, pin down, which for me helps control the early mid lane hook. I have slower ball speed so everything I use wants to roll early and lose energy down lane. The Super Nova definitely out hooks the Nova and unless you’re going to have the Nova polished I wouldn’t say the 2 balls play off each other. Both balls use the same big core, and going from one big core to another, unless you have faster ball speed isn’t the best option when needing to ball change. The Fate, or Phaze 5 is a better option when the Super Nova becomes too much ball. Another option is to move left, but you have to be careful, because the bigger core and stronger cover responds better to less boards crossed on the lane.

The Super Nova is the second release in the Nova line. Instead of the Hybrid cover they used the NEX Solid coverstock which has been featured on the Proton Physix. The Proton is one of my favorite balls to throw even though it is asymmetrical it is very versatile and has a continuous shape off the dry. The original Nova was drilled similar to the super nova with a 5 inch pin placement but the mass was in a stronger position and that created a very slow reaction off the dry.
The Super Nova is a very strong piece and with the stronger cover was earlier than the Nova and just as slow off the dry on the house shots in my area. With my lower rev rate I’ve been drilling the balls with weaker layouts to help the balls get down the lane since the centers don’t have higher volumes of oil in the heads. I have tried different surface adjustments from 1000 to 2000 and even letting it lane shine to help with the overall ball reaction. I think with this core and cover combination having a polish on this piece creates the best ball shape.
I didn’t drill this ball until the end of the PBA 50 season so it does not have much use on patterns yet but by the shape it has I will be using it on shorter patterns with higher volumes. Also need to make sure the lane surface is newer so there is less overall friction on the lane.

The Storm Super Nova is a highly aggressive solid ball that does not quit down lane. The Ignition core, which in the original Nova created more backend motion than I had expected, is implemented here again with impressive results. It is earlier and smoother than the aforementioned original Nova, and because of that, it can handle heavy or fresh oil conditions easier. I place this ball as more overall motion than the Gem, because of the fact that it has more down lane motion. The Gem is earlier and smoother. As the lanes break down, the Super Nova is still usable as long as there is still a decent bit of oil in the heads. Once that oil starts to go away, ball down to the original Nova, or possibly even shinier balls such as the Fate or Phaze V, will be necessary.

I sent this ball to my son who didn’t know he needed it. After his 5 game game of using the ball he bowled a 298 (left 7-10 split in the 10th). He loves the ball!

This was purchase fro my wife. She’s an intermediate bowler (180) avg. She’s been using older reliable equipment and I felt she was long overdue for an upgrade. She shot a 240, 231, 216 out the box , so she definitely likes it.

The Super Nova is a lot of ball with outstanding hitting and carrying abilities. Excellent in fresh oil and can be thrown multiple ways. Outstanding product.
