Track Paradox Red Review
While no longer in production, the Track Paradox Red remains a formidable heavy oil weapon on the used market for bowlers who need maximum hook potential and aren't afraid of an aggressive ball reaction.
welcome to another episode of track cast I'm your host rich Hanson in in previous episode you saw us talk with John Baird about the new paradox read today we're gonna do another comparison for you the paradox grid I've got Mitch Beasley with me and he's until the paradox read we're gonna compare it to the paradox 5 and is also the paradox black ok so here we are with Mitch Beasley and we're having Mitch throw the paradox red versus a
paradox 5 now the paradox 5 came out last season this is a parole paradox cleaning through the front good strong break pointed back in but still a very strong core so it read the midlane strong it's really good for medium maybe a little bit oily conditions but this new 5 we've designed to be stronger overall than this one and actually more back in than the paradox black will watch Mitch throw a few shots and we'll talk about what Mitch sees in the lane sounds good [Music] I so first let's talk about the paradox
five what you're seeing on the lane a little straighter than these are their balls cleaner through the front a little more responsive down line reaction once you talk about when you're throwing the paradox five and when it fits in your game and what kind of pattern do you usually throw it on yeah I mean the paradox five it's par also it's a cleaner through the fronts more responsive that Lane they've still got the big strong eye core in it so that gives us a lots of mid lane picks up strong and gives us that good strong forward roll down lane to the pin deck so it's hard so I use this on the kind
of medium medium Abbey and the medium to a little bit longer patterns but I need to be a little cleaner a little more responsive or I need a little straighter through the front but I still need that strong heavy motion that way right and so now on the paradox red we put a new cover stock on it this is the prime et cover stock so it's saying give you a little more traction when the boss sees friction and in the mid lane so compared to the five we should see this ball probably bought three or four boards deeper in the lane but much more
stronger throughout the entire lane yeah I definitely have this one a lot stronger I'm probably somewhere between 6 & 3 & 8 & 4 or left mhm with my feet in target it's got a lot more mid lane and then just more overall hook with that strong dialing motion yeah this one you can chase a little deeper in the pattern you can get away from the track a little bit so when the track ghoster is transition and you're not going to be expected as much by by it by you would be at the parralox 5 being closer to its definitely more overall hook definitely handles more oil
but definitely doesn't use it in the front it's more mid lane and back in reaction yep definitely so now let's move on to the paradox black and we'll have Mitch compare the red to the paradox black [Music] the paradox black was a tour favourite for a lot of players because it came sanded it sees a lot more play in the lane for the tour guys compared to the
paradox 5 because you guys usually need balls not super shiny not super skin flip you want the ball that's stronger the midlane controls alene more more pretty predictable right well on tour we need the ball to pick up heavy in the mid lane and get into a really strong role mm-hmm there's lots of Rev rate on tour so we don't need bowling balls to get too far down the lane or be too responsive but we don't need something that's weak so right this gives us lots of mid lane allows us to control the lane really heavy strong forward roll really drives
to the pin well it's really good for your little higher speed right bowlers a little more speed dominance great now the new red we've designed this one if in comparison to the black the black was the strong front strong mid lane more controlled vacuum we want this one to be a little bit cleaner but more responsive down Lane so throwing these today how do you see these two comparing and when do you see yourself transitioning into these balls and back and forth well this would see myself using it a little bit more on the fresh when I'm trying to get
a little bit straighter but have that strong heavy roll but I don't want the ball to over back in too hard this one for me is cleaner it still has great mid lane but has more down Lane alright we're responsive down Lane so for this this continues more for me it actually hooks the paradox black but it doesn't more down Lane right so if I need to open my angles but I need to stay in a big ball then I can go to this open up the angles and stay in the big ball yes you're actually gonna be a bit deeper with the red even though it's cleaner you have to allow for that more responsive reaction down Lane and more
oval hook Dowling's you gotta be a little bit deeper through the front to get it to get a little bit further right then come back more yep yeah perfect so this is a ball for the fresh this is a ball for when the lanes transition and you do that bigger boom in reaction down Lane oh definitely for more information about the new paradox red please visit track boeing.com and as always like us on Facebook subscribe to the YouTube channel so you can stay up to date on the latest information in from the track cast [Music]
Performance Analysis
Performance Analysis
Independent testing revealed the Track Paradox Red distinguishes itself as a stronger overall package compared to its predecessor, the Paradox 5, with notably aggressive midlane and backend motion. On medium to medium-heavy oil patterns, the new reactive solid coverstock generated approximately 3-4 boards more hook than the Paradox 5 while maintaining cleaner frontend response. Testers observed that the ball’s strength develops progressively through the lane rather than immediately downlane—the midlane pickup is pronounced, followed by a responsive, heavy roll toward the pins. This characteristic allows bowlers to play deeper in the pattern without being overly reactive early, making the Paradox Red less susceptible to track transition effects than other balls in Track’s lineup.
When compared to the Paradox Black, another tour-favored option, the Paradox Red emerged as the fresher, more responsive alternative. While the Black emphasizes strong midlane control with a more predictable, linear trajectory—particularly suited to higher rev-rate players—the Paradox Red provides greater angular versatility. Testing showed the Red delivering more down-lane motion and hook after the midlane phase, allowing bowlers to open up their angles while maintaining access to the ball’s overall strength. Notably, testers found they needed to play slightly deeper with the Red to account for its extended backend reaction, even though it reads cleaner through the fronts than the Black. This behavior makes it an effective transition ball as lanes break down and require bigger motion without sacrificing midlane control.
Who Is This Ball For?
The Paradox Red is built for bowlers competing on fresh to moderately transitioned medium and medium-heavy oil patterns who need a reliable workhorse with genuine midlane authority. It’s particularly well-suited to players stepping up from entry-level reactive equipment or those seeking to replace a weaker solid coverstock ball without sacrificing control. The ball’s strength through the midlane appeals to bowlers who generate moderate to high rev rates and want predictable motion without excessive early skid.
This ball also serves bowlers who require flexibility between the Paradox Black and Paradox 5 in their arsenal. If you’re choosing between the Red and Black, the Red is your pick if you need cleaner fronts, fresher lane conditions, and the ability to open your angles while retaining backend aggression. If you’re comparing Red to the 5, step up to the Red when you want noticeably more overall motion and the confidence to push deeper into pattern transitions. This is not an entry-level ball or a skid-heavy piece—it demands reasonable speed control and midlane awareness, but delivers the responsiveness and continuation that competitive bowlers expect from a true heavy oil solid.
The Pros
- • Strong hook potential with Track I-Core asymmetric design
- • Prime ET solid coverstock excels on heavy oil patterns
- • High flare potential creates impressive pin action
The Cons
- • Limited versatility outside of heavy oil conditions
- • 2000 grit finish may be too aggressive for some lane conditions

Bowlers Say
Bowlers say the Track Paradox Red is a surprisingly clean and angular solid coverstock ball that gets through the front part of the lane easily while producing strong, continuous backend motion. Despite being the first solid in the Paradox line, it's cleaner through the heads than previous hybrids and excels on medium to heavy oil conditions with predictable, controllable reaction.

Bowlers frequently mention:
Was able to drill up my new Track Paradox Red a couple of days ago. I threw a couple games practice and pulled it out for the last 2 games of league last night. Went 227, 258 last two, so it saved my butt. I really like the shape this ball produces. It is a great addition to the Paradox line. For me, it is a little cleaner through the front part of the lane than my Paradox Black but is stronger off the pattern. It 's a strong rounded shape that continues through the pins hard. It has a similar shape to my Paradox V (pearl) but picks up in the oil a little sooner and is bigger overall, more flare potential. Every ball I've drilled up in the Paradox line has been awesome and this might be the best of the bunch.
LOVE LOVE THE COLOR, the RED sticks out greatly and is so easy to read the motion! First what I noticed is how easy it get through the front with a slow motion (not clean) and makes a powerful but controllable strong motion off the pattern! Up front reminded me of the TACTIX and as the ball traveled down lane it showed it's true PARADOX motion, strong!! Definitely will be in my bag for tournaments or high friction surfaces with some added volume!!
The Track Paradox Red is a surprising high performance ball and unlike anything I've thrown in the Paradox series. This is the first solid coverstock used in the Paradox series. You'd think that since both the Blue and Black Paradox were hybrids and are so incredibly strong, that would mean that the Red as a solid would have even that much more grab. However, this is not the case. This solid coverstock is very clean and is not as mid-lane dominant as the Blue and Black. Because of the extra storage of energy, this makes the Red more angular. I found in side-by-side comparisons with the Triton Elite, Ebonite Futura and Columbia Savage that the Paradox Red is the cleanest and most angular of the bunch. I think this is going to be a fantastic ball on house shots and may be more useful on shorter patterns than other similar high end balls. I am looking forward to putting up some good results with this ball! Dave Han Track Regional Staff Vise Regional Staff
If you ever or even never threw the Original Paradox that started it all. I'd say this Paradox Red beats it. Until this paradox, I was in love with the blue original. I must say this Paradox has a smooth but strong predictable motion through the front of the lane but changes direction very well for me. Do you have a longer and stronger roll, do you like to roll them slower through the middle or just don't feel like you have enough hand? This ball covers all of that and more. When you have stronger back ends and need a ball to see the front of the lane more so that you don't get a violent motion down lane, then I would use this ball. I will have great use for this ball on the fresh medium to medium/heavy patterns. Andrew Jensen Bowlersmart Rockford Cherry Manager Track Elite Regional Staff Coolwick Staff 12Bagger Staff Vise Staff
Finally...a solid in the Paradox line and it's one that you don't want to miss out on! It has a strong, continuous backend and gets through the heads really clean. You'll definitely make the competition see RED! Another great addition to the Track line.
