The Harsh Reality Pearl is a strong Asymmetrical Pearl that provides great length and strong backend reaction. This ball is the closest I’ve seen to the Altered Reality to date. I drilled mine pin down due to the fact that I did not have a strong assym pearl drilled pin down so this one is not quite as strong off the spot as normal but that was by intention. This is a great ball to get left on the fresh. If your looking for a strong assym pearl then look no further.

The Harsh Reality Pearl is the newest pearl ball in the 900 Global line. It features the new Reserve Blend
902 Pearl Reactive cover and the Disturbance A.I. Asymmetric Core. This ball is going to sit at the top of
your bag strength wise. For me this ball shapes like the Harsh Reality and will be a good step down but
still has the same pop downlane. I compared mine to the DNA Coil and Attention Star. I have the HRP a
ball above the DNA Coil and a couple balls above the Attention Star. The HRP is going to need some oil to
look its best due to it being so strong. I think the HRP is the closest thing we have to the Altered Reality
shape wise but being a touch stronger. If you are missing a big strong asym pearl then this is the ball for
you. Another great release from 900 Global!

The all new Harsh Reality Pearl utilizes the Reserve Batch Blend 902 pearl cover stock combined with the Disturbance Asymmetric A.I. Core to give you the strongest pearl ball in the 900 Global line. Yes, I believe the Harsh Reality Pearl is stronger than the Altered Reality. I tested this ball on a 43 feet typical house pattern with a lot of down lane transition. As mid to low rev player I struggle with ball reaction when the lanes breakdown and I’m forced to move left of the 25 board. I was standing between the 25 and 32 boards and rolling the Altered Reality to right, it continued to hit the pocket and continued to strike. My ball layout is 50x5x40. This ball is awesome. This ball will be in my bag for league and tournaments especially when there is down lane transition. This is a great ball for all levels of bowlers. Order one from your local pro shop today! The Harsh Reality Pearl is a great compliment to the Harsh Reality. It gives the same strength the original Harsh Reality does but with more length. This ball will also give bowlers room to move left and shape the ball with no fear of it recovering. 900 Global has really been coming out with some great balls and including the AI Core really separates them from the rest. With coming back from injury this ball has given me something I might end up needing towards the end of the night when I need to move in.

900 Global’s new Harsh Reality Pearl is an Asymmetrical piece that is good for Medium - Heavy Volume patterns. PAP is 5 5/16 R 1 3/16 Up. Rev Rate: 400. Speed: 16.5. Drilled this piece with the Pin up between the fingers, CG kicked out 1” from the palm, and the Mass Bias an 1.5” right of the Thumb. Out of Box ball motion clean through the fronts with a strong backend reaction on a left over Shark pattern. I compared this to Harsh Reality Solid (2-2 Right). The Pearl is 2-2 left of the Solid with cleaner motion through the fronts and sharper backend reaction. The Pearl will be a good #2 ball when the Solid starts to burn up. This piece will be good for all types of styles.

900 Global Harsh Reality Pearl utilizes the Reserve Batch 902 Blend pearl coverstock and the Disturbance AI core. It’s kind of cool to see the pearl version of the Harsh Reality in the same color scheme. However, I do see how it would be difficult to tell the difference at times so be careful. Lol. I used the Harsh Reality Pearl on the Petraglia oil pattern at the PBA50 WSOB. I put a light 2000 surface change on it before the squad because of the heavy oil volume. I had a good look once the pattern settled down. The Harsh Reality Pearl was very clean through the first part of the lane and with a defined movement on the backend.
The Harsh Reality Pearl will be the ball you go to once your first ball starts to hook early and ring 10-pins.

The Harsh Reality Pearl is the next release in the 900 Series lineup for 900 Global. It features the 902 Reserve Blend Pearl cover and is wrapped around the AI Disturbance Core. I drilled mine 4.5 x 4 x 2 and this is another slightly tweaked layout for me. Ive thrown this ball a few times and it gives me a more blended motion than I thought it was going to be. It reminds me of the ultra popular Storm DNA Coil with how it’s smooth for a pearl cover stock. I would say the Harsh Reality Pearl isn’t as revy in the front part of the lane as a Coil would be and gives a little more back end reaction. I can see myself actually taking surface to mine to use it more on the fresh on older lane surfaces because I need it to get through the fronts but its still really smooth on the back.
Layout: 5 x 3 1/2 x 3
Surface: Reacta Gloss
Rev Rate: 470 RPM
The new Harsh Reality Pearl brings back the Disturbance AI Core and is paired with the Reserve Blend 902 Pearl Coverstock. The Pearl gives more length and a more angular backend compared to the Harsh Reality Solid. Still ideal for heavier oil, the Harsh Reality Pearl will handle a wide array of oil patterns including house and sport.
For my higher rev rate, I need a lot of head oil for the Harsh Reality series to work well. The Pearl still reads the front and midlane very strong even with its Reacta Gloss finish. The Reserve Blend 902 Pearl coverstock is on the stronger side and can handle a lot of oil while still giving a nice back end finish. My THS is 44ft in length but with lower volume so I can use it on the fresh due to the lower oil volume. After game 1, it becomes a little harder to use due to the oil breakdown. On PBA patterns, it is a different story. Those all have significantly more oil volume so I can get much more use out of the HRP. When my Harsh Reality Solid becomes too forward and slow down lane, I can go right to the pearl and continue to strike as it is cleaner through the front of the lane. This ball fills a hole in the 900 Global lineup as we haven't seen an asymmetrical pearl since the Altered Reality.
If you are a bowler with a lower rev rate but need a cleaner but strong coverstock, I would go with this ball. Heavier oil patterns also make this ball shine as well. The strength of this ball can make it useful for the fresh depending on the conditions. Taking the reacta gloss off the coverstock, will make this ball earlier and slightly smoother. If you use the Harsh reality Solid, this pearl will also be a great step down for game 2 or game 3 of league when you have to open the lanes up more. A pin down layout for this ball will keep the ball on line a little longer making it potentially more useful on a wider variety of conditions.

The Harsh Reality from 900 Global has been a great high performance piece for higher volumes of oil. The continuous motion has made it a favorite for a variety of bowlers. It was just a matter of time before a pearl version was released and the Harsh Reality Pearl doesn't disappoint. The great news for fans of the Altered Reality is that in my opinion this ball is the best replacement released to date. The Disturbance AI symmetric core maintains the great continuation and the 902 reserve pearl coverstock gives you great length and a quicker change of direction down-lane.
I tested the Harsh Reality Pearl in league. I was really curious about how continuous the ball would be with the powerful core when I had to get in and cover boards. Our house tends to have alot of early friction in the surface, but our longer heavier pattern makes it so you need a strong down-lane reaction to get the ball back. I've struggled a bit with some of the high performance pearls wanting to get forward too quickly when I get left. I lucked into the perfect opportunity to test it as we were on lanes 1 and 2 (Highest friction in the house). This ball definitely HOOKS. I had to start around 20 at the arrows on this pair and I was throwing it over the left gutter by the end of the night.
The Harsh Reality Pearl retains energy really well. I love a ball that can create angle in a smaller window, but not roll out when you cover boards with it. That combination really opens the lane up once you're a few games in. For a strong reaction even when the fronts get fried this is the ball.
I'd recommend this ball for anyone who runs into a condition where they struggle to clear the heads and when they do their ball struggles to continue. High Rev, Low rev, high speed low speed this ball matches up for everyone at some point.

Reliable, Predictable and Versatile
The New 900 Global Harsh Reality Pearl is an upgraded replacement of the beloved Altered Reality and Eternity seeking a stronger asymmetrical option.
The Harsh Reality Pearl features the Reserve Blend 902 Pearl coverstock finished with Reacta Gloss, which allows it to glide smoothly through the front part of the lane and respond sharply at the breakpoint. This makes it an excellent choice for medium to heavy oil conditions.
It shares the Disturbance Asymmetric AI core with the original Harsh Reality, providing a low RG (2.48) and high differential (0.054), which contributes to its strong hooking potential and continuous motion down the lane.
On the lanes this ball performs exceptionally well for allowing me to play deeper lines with confidence. I started in the track and migrated a far as 4th arrow before light pocket hits left weak corner pins. It stores energy effectively and offers impressive recovery and continuation at the back end.
Its versatility, provides a strong mid-lane read and a powerful backend reaction, making it suitable for when the lanes transition for me.
Even for strokers and crankers, the Harsh Reality Pearl offers a reliable and predictable motion, making it a versatile addition to any arsenal.
I compared mine to the Harsh Reality Solid which had earlier mid-lane read and total hook. My 5 ball arsenal would include the Xponent Pearl, Xponent and Sublime'
Overall, the 900 Global Harsh Reality Pearl is a versatile with its strong hooking potential and reliable motion make it a valid addition to any bowler's arsenal.

The Harsh Reality was a huge success in the 900 series lineup, it's now followed up with its pearl version, the Harsh Reality Pearl. Currently the only polished/pearl asymmetrical 900 ball on the market, the Harsh Reality Pearl brings back the Disturbance AI core along with the Reserve blend 902 pearl coverstock. I drilled mine at 50 x 5 x 35 to give the ball a smooth amount of control mid lane and save its energy for the backend. From a THS to a variety of sport patterns, I find this ball to be very comparable to the favorable DNA Coil (which I also have at a similar layout at 4.5" x 30). Reaction down lane, I found that the Harsh Reality Pearl is a lot cleaner than the coil, but still has that strong back-end motion. At certain times, I would find myself to put a little surface on the ball to get an earlier roll when it comes to bowling on medium/longer patterns, but it still has that smooth backend reaction. This ball would fit well in my bag for a variety of patterns depending on surface as well as your THS. Be sure to drill one up from your local pro shop today!! Thomas Coco (storm staffer)

The Harsh Reality Pearl features the Reserve Blend 902 coverstock with Reacta Gloss and the Disturbance A.I. core. It is currently the only pearl asymmetric ball in the 900 Global lineup and will produce the most explosive backend reaction. The Harsh Reality Pearl will be the perfect compliment to the Harsh Reality Solid when you need a cleaner and more responsive reaction without giving up overall ball strength on heavier conditions. The Harsh Reality Pearl gave me a great look sliding on 30, looking 18 at the arrows with my breakpoint around 7-8. I was able to move left and not sacrifice ball motion and carry with speed and hand position adjustments. When compared to the Harsh Reality Solid, the Pearl was cleaner through the fronts and created more downlane motion. The Harsh Reality Pearl will be great after the Solid starts to burn up and you need a change of angle to improve your carry. It will be a number two ball on heavier tournament patterns and potentially the first ball out of my bag in league to combat the over/under. The Reality series have been reliable tournament balls for me over the past several seasons and I can see the Harsh Reality Pearl being a great addition to my arsenal. The Harsh Reality Pearl features the same disturbance AI core that was found in the Harsh Reality but is now wrapped in 902 reserve blend Pearl. This Produces a very similar feel to the Altered Reality and Eternity. I find myself throwing the Harsh Reality Pearl after my Harsh Reality and GEM start seeing the front part of the lane too much and straightening out too quickly. Next up. The Harsh Reality Pearl. I drilled this with the same layout as my new Harsh Reality looking for the step down when the solid version starts up a little too early or there is not enough head oil to accommodate the strong surface. Bowling on a slightly beat up THS, this ball got significantly further down the lane than the Harsh Reality and made a stronger move off the break point (as expected). The core in this ball is still strong enough to get the ball started in the oil, but the pearl coverstock still helps get adequate length before a pretty explosive backend reaction. I can certainly see this piece excelling on wet/dry league conditions or anytime a bigger solid, like a Harsh Reality or Gem, sees the front part of the lane too quickly and loses energy. Fantastic 1-2 punch with it's solid predecessor.

Layout on this one was 4 3/4 x 4 3/4 x 4. Gave me a nice pin down, early rolling layout. Heavy oil machine! Bowling in the collegiate level, you run into some pretty difficult shots. Whether it be super heavy, light, long or short. This one will tear up the heavier patterns with a touch of surface. Cleaner more down lane motion compared to the original harsh reality. Definitely a ball 1-2 in my bag! Go get one!

Using this ball on a true house shot showed the strength of what this ball is capable of being. I can say for sure and you can see from the video that this ball needs just a tad of friction. This ball is very clean and needs oil to stay on line. If you are a speed dominant player you could stay in this ball for some time, but for me with average speed and lower rev rate use this ball after I break down the lanes with a bigger stronger ball, but that allows me to know that it will be really good on a broken down pattern. In league I use this ball in game 2 or 3 after burning up the track with the OG Harsh Reality.

Throwing this ball at the demo for the first time I was shocked that I was able to make this ball hook from anywhere even on the fresh. It would make a great transition from the Harsh Reality or even the DNA. You would not be disappointed if you purchased both Harsh Reality's.
The 900 Global Harsh Reality Pearl features the new Reserve Blend 902 pearl coverstock and the Disturbance A.I. asymmetric core. At 15 pounds the RG is a low 2.48 with a differential of .054 and an intermediate diff of .019. This ball is the perfect complement to the original Harsh Reality and then some. When the original starts to burn up and roll forward too soon, this is the perfect ball to pull out of your bag. The Harsh Reality Pearl can still handle the heavy volume oil just like its predecessor, but the pearl provides an added punch on the backend. While the original Harsh Reality is limited to how long I can stay with that ball, the pearl version offers much more usability on a wider array of lane conditions. Both the solid and the pearl need oil to be effective, but the pearl cover provides length on the medium conditions, as well as transitioned lane conditions. The Harsh Reality solid and pearl are a great one, two punch!!

Finally, a pearl reality back in the lineup! This one features all the latest and greatest from Storm Bowling Products; the A.I. core technology increases the core dynamics and really makes this ball unique. The Reality core has always been smooth and continuous, and paired with cleaner covers it has always been a house shot killer and a great 2-ball on flatter conditions. This ball is no exception. The earlier and longer hook phase characteristic of the A.I. core paired with 902 Reserve Blend Pearl makes for a clean, smooth, tippy pearl asym that compliments the rest of the product line. If you love pearl asyms for league or need a new one in your tournament arsenal, or are just a Reality fan, this one is definitely worth checking out!

What I learned, enjoyed and struggled with:
All new Harsh Reality Pearl, HRP for short, was a new kind of look on the lane for me, I am known to “milder” asymmetric core balls with shorter pin because they mainly are too flippy for my current ball speed and game, but I found the HRP to be a new tool to add to my current arsenal, not really replacing anything other than a ball that was overlapping something else in my current ball line. If you review my YouTube video, you will notice I was able to play in the normal track area and just my angles a little to stay comfort in my zones, I felt comfortable enough to teach myself something I wanted to learn but was afraid to try due to prior injuries and the lack of time to really work on it. Even at 54 years of age, with 2 almost bionic legs, I taught myself how to walk around the ball return and slide at the gutter cap on the right side of the lane. Amazingly, I only took a few missteps and kept on going. A practice session of 2 ½ hours is unusual for me due to my overall endurance. I quite enjoyed this practice session. Every adjustment I made with the HRP, worked well and rolled other asymmetric balls I had, and this one was the most reliable from fresh condition to quite played out condition. Now for what I struggled with: The ball seemed to hit the tracer board and move quicker from that spot, if I positioned the ball a few boards left of the tracer board; the reaction would be more delayed. Which should normally be reversed because it would be a drier condition closer to the gutter. I overcame this by getting the HRP crossing the tracer board rather than getting the HRP rolling directly through the tracer board. I hope this information helps you and please visit my YouTube page – Roto Grip Rick.

900 Global Harsh Reality Pearl Review

VLS-5 1/4x4 1/4x2 3/8
Dual Angle-55x5.25x35
The harsh reality pearl uses the disturbance core with the ai technology wrapped with the reserve blend 902 pearl coverstock.
The harsh reality pearl is the strongest asymmetrical pearl in my arsenal.
The harsh reality pearl will pick up in the oil where other pearls will skid and miss the breakpoint.
I compared it to the harsh reality solid and the sublime.
The harsh reality pearl will create more length than the solid with more backend but still handle the heavy oil and it will read the midlane better than the sublime with more backend.
So if your looking for a replacement for a replacement for your altered reality but in a stronger version the harsh reality pearl will be a great option.
Zachary Woelfel Aug 28, 2024
The Harsh Reality Pearl excels in delivering a strong, angular backend reaction thanks to its high friction coverstock and pearlized finish. When compared to current offerings like the Roto Grip UFO Alert and the Storm Proton Physix, the Harsh Reality Pearl stands out for its more pronounced and sharper backend motion. The UFO Alert, with its hybrid coverstock, provides a more controlled and smoother transition, while the Proton Physix, known for its solid coverstock, delivers a more even and predictable roll. In contrast, the Harsh Reality Pearl’s aggressive nature makes it a go-to option for bowlers needing a ball that can tackle heavy oil patterns with a strong, dynamic backend reaction.

The Harsh Reality Pearl is my go to asymmetric Pearl, this ball picks up earlier on the lane than my Attention Star making it far more usable on fresher conditions. I did make a surface change to 1000 grit than used smooth edge to sheen the ball, both my Attention Star and Harsh Pearl are the same surface. The overall ball motion is what I would call slower or smooth, it doesn’t respond to the friction too quickly which helps me get the ball down lane better while still keeping the lanes blended when my solid asymmetric option is too much ball. Players who will like this ball will be players who are looking to have a ball up from the Attention Star and trying to play the lanes a little straighter.
Storm Andrew Aug 31, 2024
The Harsh Reality Pearl is a strong asym pearl from the Roto Grip lineup. This ball will be the strongest pearl out the bag where there is typically more oil volume. This ball is stronger than an exotic gem although is similar in nature of it being a slower transitioning ball. This ball can be used on the fresh house conditions and or transitioned off of the stronger solids as a transition ball.
This ball is an improvement on the original Harsh Reality. The one thing me as a pro shop owner and bowler heard about the original harsh was that it was too early, I can’t use it for long, I have to up the surface by a lot. When hearing this, it tells me the ball is very specific and if I can only bring three balls I dont want to just have one for limited use. Hence the Harsh Reality Pearl it is a strong asymmetrical pearl with all the characters of its predecessor but improved upon with the pearl coverstock. This cover allows the harsh to get up the lane further before it begins to hook. Giving you the extra length you needed from the original. This ball is great on the fresh and because it is a pearl ball you can still move left and use for more of the block and not just game one. A great upgrade to the original.

ok all, this ball is a pearl beyond no other. For myself, I had to hit it with a 3000 pad. It just was a little to much of a hockey stick hook for me. So hitting it smoothed it out just for me. I tried it on a few sport patterns during the summer leagues , and now that the fall leagues are starting up. its a nice ball indeed to follow the Solid Harsh Reality. If the harsh starts to hook a little early, you can grab the Harsh Pearl to take its place. Its an awesome 1-2 punch to have in your bag. Keep in mind the lane shine, so its always nice to clean your equipment and get the surface of the bowling balls how you like them.
The latest addition to the 900 Global product line is the Harsh Reality Pearl. This features the same great reality core surrounded with AI technology and wrapped in the 902 batch pearl cover stock. When this ball was announced at bowl expo I was really excited for this release. The Harsh Reality Solid has become a stable in my bag. With the addition of the Harsh Reality Pearl is a great compliment. I drilled this ball using the layout 60x4.5x35 this ball is super clean and very forward for me. It allows me to get left with it when becomes too strong and I can still get through the pins correctly. I would recommend this ball if you’re looking for that big pearl to add to your bag.

As the name of the bowling ball states, the Harsh Reality Pearl is a pearlized version of the original Harsh Reality. The Harsh Reality Pearl features the proven Disturbance asymmetric A.I. core and the Reserve Blend 902 Pearl coverstock. This bowling ball should be in everyone’s arsenal.
I drilled my Harsh Reality Pearl with a pin-up layout that I normally use on such bowling balls: 65 x 5 ½ x 35. This layout results in medium amount of flare and helps such strong bowling balls to stay on the line of play a little bit easier. The coverstock on the original Harsh Reality felt a little too strong for my liking, unless I was bowling on a very clean lane surface. The Harsh Reality Pearl seems to feature a much better core and coverstock combination. The strength of the core makes the ball want to read the oil patterns sooner while the coverstock helps the bowling ball to get down the lane a little easier. I really liked that I could keep my Harsh Reality Pearl polished without feeling like the bowling ball skids to long.
In my eyes, the Harsh Reality Pearl is one the best pearl asymmetric bowling balls that has been released recently. I think it could be used on multiple patterns and on multiple lane surfaces. It seems like the bowling ball rolls well with different layouts as well. I do see this Harsh Reality Pearl rolling very well on “House Patterns” especially at bowling centers with higher friction lane panels. If you are looking for a pearl asymmetrical bowling ball – this is the one to get.
Sam Cooper. Roto Grip Amateur Staff. The 900 Global Harsh Reality Pearl. To me this is the strongest yet usable pearl ball that I have thrown. I know a great deal of people liked the Roto Grip Exotic Gem. That ball did not match up well with me honestly. I see this ball most useful when balls like the Roto Grip Attention Star and Storm Virtual Energy Blackout are too clean but when you need something to get through the front part of the lane. The Harsh Pearl is the ball for the job. It reads the midlane more than any other pearl ball, but does not read the fronts too much. Plus this ball has great shelf appeal and looks great going down the lane.
When I first got mine I went to throw it on a house shot with the reacta gloss on it. For me it had a hard time hooking or was inconsistent on where it hooked. I took the shine off with a 3000 pad and the ball came to life. You can tell that this is the earliest of the asymmetrical pearls from SPI. This has the most rounded reaction out of the pearl balls. There is something about the way this ball goes through the pins I have noticed(when the operator throws it properly). Something about the way it kicks the ten out is noticeable to me. I have yet to try this ball on a sport pattern but look forward to when I can. If you are in the market for a strong pearl bowling ball take a look at the Harsh Reality Pearl from 900 Global!

I’ve not had much success with recent Global products. The last one I really matched up with was an Xponent. Whether it was poor layout choices on my part, unable to find surfaces to match up to what I wanted to see, nothing was going right.
I decided I wanted to give the Harsh Pearl a shot. Went with a little longer pin and buffer than I normally would. After I dropped down to 14 pounds, I drilled my first couple of balls too strong trying to compensate for the difference in RG and differential numbers. I wanted to see what going in the opposite directly would do.
My initial impression of the ball is its pretty rollie for me. Gives me a little blend off the dry. In box condition, it was a little too clean for me. Put it on the spinner and used a 2000 pad to take the shine off the ball. Motion suited my eye more with the surface adjustment.
It’s not going to be nearly as clean or angular as my VEBO. Giving the appearance of more versatility. However, I’m not going to be able to play the oil / keep it in front of me. I will need to see some dry down-lane to ensure motion through the pins. As I said, it does blend some wet/dry for me. But I did anticipate a bit stronger motion even with the weaker pin for me.
This is one, I’ll get some additional games in with and probably make additional surface adjustments. I’m not certain who I’d recommend this one for. I can see the extremes where someone with a very low rev rate could play the dry in box condition and see higher rev rates being able to play the puddle but would anticipate them having to take off some polish to do so unless you’re rev dominate with slow speed. Us folks in the middle, I think there could be different options for better overall performance.

The folks over at 900 Global have outdone themselves again with the release of the Harsh Reality Pearl. The new Harsh Reality Pearl (HRP) is the pearlized version of the original Harsh Reality (HR). It features the same Disturbance Asymmetric A.I. core as the original HR but is wrapped in the Reserve Blend 902 Pearl Reactive coverstock. Even though the HRP is a pearl, it’s still an extremely aggressive cover and will require a fair amount of oil on the lane to be thrown.
I used a pretty standard 4 x 4 x 2 layout, which for me is a fairly strong layout that provides a little length up front with plenty of midlane read and a strong continuous backend. I typically scuff shiny balls with a 2000/3000 Abralon pad, but given the strength of the HRP I decided to leave it at box finish with Reacta Gloss. Often times pearl balls become pretty over/under on typical house patterns given the amount of oil in the middle and dry to the outsides, but the HRP was plenty strong enough to dig through the soup in the middle of the lane and still make a strong move off the friction without over-reacting. Seemingly the deeper I moved on the lane, the better the HRP looked!
Compared to the original Harsh Reality, the HRP gets down the lane much further and retains more energy for the backend. The Harsh Reality Pearl a great complement its solid predecessor; when the HR starts getting lazy and leaving weak hits you could easily make the ball change to the HRP. The Harsh Reality Pearl is an excellent option for bowlers looking for clean reaction through the front part of the lane, strong midlane read, and an angular backend reaction.

The 900 Global Harsh Reality Pearl is the latest entry in 900 Global’s revered lineup, following the original Harsh Reality.
The Harsh Reality Pearl retains a visually striking aesthetic, with a vibrant pearl finish that glistens under the lane lights. Its colors not only provide visual appeal but also serve as a good indicator of its performance: it stands out on the shelves and indeed promises excitement on the lane.
The core of the Harsh Reality Pearl has the new 902 Pearl coverstock. This allows it to glide smoothly, providing a more effortless reaction when transitioning to the back end when compared to the original Harsh Reality and the 902 solid coverstock.
Both models utilize the same high-powered AI core. What sets the Harsh Reality Pearl apart is its enhanced angle at the breakpoint. Bowlers will notice a more aggressive angular reaction on the backend, making it ideal for players who thrive under heavy oil conditions but still seek that explosive backend turn and carry.
One of the most noticeable differences between the two balls is how easily the Pearl maintains energy through its travel. In contrast, the original Harsh Reality, while still powerful, can sometimes burn energy too quickly on the backend. The Pearl’s extended length and moderate backend hook provide a user-friendly bowling experience, especially for bowlers looking to control their moves without over-revving.
In conclusion, the 900 Global Harsh Reality Pearl does an exceptional job of building on the strengths of the original. While both models are fantastic choices for bowlers seeking performance on oily lanes, the Pearl is notably more versatile and capable of adapting to a broader range of lane conditions. Its smooth glide through the heads, coupled with a stronger backend reaction, gives it a unique position in the lineup, making it a worthy addition for bowlers looking to step up their game.
If you loved the original Harsh Reality but occasionally found it limiting in some conditions, the Pearl version could be the upgrade you’ve been waiting for. For competitive bowlers seeking an edge in versatility and hook potential, the 900 Global Harsh Reality Pearl is highly recommended!

The 900 Global Harsh Reality Pearl is an exceptional option for high-revolution bowlers looking for a ball that thrives on various lane conditions. Built with the same core as its predecessor, the S74 core, it provides a strong mid-lane read and impressive continuation through the pins, perfectly complementing my high-rev style. The pearlized 902 Blend coverstock enhances its performance, offering a smoother and quicker response on the backend while maintaining excellent traction on medium to heavy oil patterns.
When I take the Harsh Reality Pearl to the lanes, its ability to generate a powerful and predictable hook really stands out. It performs brilliantly on fresh oil and adapts well as the lanes transition, allowing for confident shot-making throughout the game. This versatility makes it a vital part of my arsenal, whether I’m competing in a league or just looking to improve my skills.
Overall, the 900 Global Harsh Reality Pearl combines advanced core technology with a high-quality coverstock, making it a fantastic choice for bowlers seeking a reliable performance. While it may require some adjustments on lighter oil conditions, the strong hook potential and smooth motion it provides for high-rev bowlers are hard to beat. If you're searching for a ball that can elevate your game, the Harsh Reality Pearl is definitely worth considering.
Even though the Harsh Reality and Harsh Reality Pearl don’t look significantly different while sitting on the shelf, when they go down the lane, they are two completely different monsters. I had a lot of success with the original Harsh Reality so when word got out that a pearl version was being produced, I was excited to throw it. In most of these reviews, I mention how lane beds continue to get worn down and the level of friction continues to increase, making these balls with pearl covers much more frequently used.
I’ve drilled one HRP so far and really like it. It’s mapped out as 5 x 4.75 x 2. This puts the pin near my bridge and the mass bias just to the right of my thumb. I’ve also left the surface alone at the box finish (reacta gloss finish) and it rolls great. Most of the patterns I bowl on are less than 25mls so the HRP has been the first ball out of my bag during league and tournament play. It compliments the line extremely well. It’s a lot cleaner and has a quicker response time compared to the Ion Pro Max and it’s definitely stronger than the Summit Ascent.
If you need a big core with a pearl coverstock that can be used on several types of lane conditions, the Harsh Reality Pearl should be the next ball you drill!
Hello everyone and welcome to another Beyond the Arrows Ball Reviews brought to you by Striking Results Pro Shop, Bowlifi and Turbo 2 n 1 Grips, today we will be reviewing the new 900 Global Harsh Reality Pearl.
The Harsh Reality Pearl has a low RG value of 2.48 which means it will rev up early and a medium differential of 0.054 and a high intermediate differential of 0.019 which will have a slightly sharp change of direction on the backend.
The HRP isn’t the pearl version of the solid Harsh Reality, in my opinion the second coming of the Altered Reality.
The HRP has the Reserve Blend 902 cover stock finished with Reacta Gloss and features a similar chemical composition of the S84 Response Cover as the Reality.
The 902 Reserve Blend coverstock is wrapped around the Disturbance A.I. Asymmetric Core which features the same unique single density inner core as the original Reality, however the outer core is the groundbreaking A.I. Core. You will notice that the RG is lower, the differential is higher, and the intermediate differential is higher when compared to the original Reality. This means that you will see a similar shape as the original Reality, but with more overall performance on the heaviest patterns.
I did a ball comparison to the 900 Global Altered Reality and the Storm DNA Coil on a 42 ft house shot, 25 ml of oil.
In comparison to the Altered Reality, the HRP is a little bit earlier and al little bit sharper on the backend due to the AI core. If you wanted to have both in your bag you could but I would change the surface on one of them to have some variance between them.
In comparison to the Storm DNA Coil, the HRP again is earlier and sharper but the Coil is cleaner through the mids and not as sharp on the backend which makes the Coil a little more versatile on an array of conditions.
As per the surface adjustments, the HRP comes out of the box with Reacta Gloss which is 500>2,000>4000, reacta gloss which goes long but will be great on the medium to dry conditions.
On heavy oil the optimum surface would be a 500 grit Abralon.
In the bag, will be the Roto Grip Gem, HRP, Attention Star and Sublime

The Harsh Reality Pearl is the Pearl version of the original Harsh Reality. Also the 4th ball with the Disturbance Asymmetric Core. Plus with the addition the A.I Technology. I drilled mine pin down 4.5x.4.x4 and added Storm Step 2 to the cover. I personally have the HRP obviously a little cleaner than original HR with the pearl cover. But I really think the Harsh Reality's are pretty early rolling bowling balls. Thus pretty slow response down lane. I have drilled a few in the shop for bowlers with lower rev rate or faster ball speeds. They have had great success and really good ball motion. With my unique roll the HRP is a little conditional at times. But I can use the HRP on the flatter sport patterns to help control the pattern with the smoother overall ball motion. The HRP is still beneath the Ion Max and the RG Gems. But above the Phaze 2 and Idol series balls.
