900 Global Altered Reality Review

The altered reality is the strong asymmetrical Pearl that has been missing from my bag. I have gotten to bowl a few times with it and for me it is a heart step down from the reality when I still want a strong ball. This ball has no problem getting down the lane, and is very strong and predictable. Compared to my reality, both drilled the same way, I have the altered reality 3-4 feet longer on fresh conditions and usually would need to be 3-4 further right with my feet. Where I see this ball being really good, besides on house shots, is the first transition in a tournament where I still want a strong cover and core but need to get it through the fronts clean. The 900 Global Reality was very popular throughout the different levels of bowling and I believe the all new Altered Reality will follow in its footsteps. The Altered Reality has the same Disturbance Asymmetric core as the Reality but features the S84 Response Pearl cover. I drilled mine 5 x 5.5 x 2, and after throwing this ball for a little while I was quite impressed on the motion it gave me. It was a lot cleaner than the original Reality because of the pearl cover but you can really see this ball pick up in the midlane. I was able to throw this ball on the fresh on Gateway Arch oil pattern but I had to make sure I projected the ball towards the gutter to make sure it didn’t overreact and go high. I can see myself using this ball after the bigger asymmetrical solid balls in my bag and some of the stronger solid symmetrical balls towards the middle to late of blocks on longer pattern and maybe the fresh on other patterns if the lane surface has a little built up friction in the front part of the lane.

For the bowler looking for tons of overall hook and angle the Altered Reality will not disappoint. For comparison purposes it is much more overall than the X2 and even UFO Alert. I drilled mine pin down to keep the ball more in front of me although I was very surprised how much I am able to open my angles with as I migrate left. The Altered Reality continues very well and strong as it makes it moves to the pocket. Thus far, I have had a tendency to start with this ball on the fresh and use it all the way through 3 games of league which is a rarity for me as I typically like to start with controllable solids. This ball is very versatile and will fit the repotoire of many different styles of bowlers.

I drilled my Altered Reality the same way I drilled my Reality with pin above bridge and PSA kicked right of the thumb. I couldn’t have been more excited to see what I witnessed which as a clean, forgiving asymmetric! Normally, I don’t prefer OOB, shiny pieces, especially on pearl assymetrics as they can be less controllable on the back end and create the over/under effect. HOWEVER, this is not the case for the Altered Realilty!! In comparisons, it is not hockey stick motion like my Rubicon UC2 and it is cleaner than the Dark Code as my Dark wanted to read earlier, but I feel I can open my angles further with the Altered as it has amazing recovery from even 4-5 board down lane!! When I pulled it in the oil, it still had enough teeth in the cover to read the mids and get to the pocket, so it’s a great fit between my UC2 and Dark Code pieces! Layout 60 x 5.5" x 70 3000 Surface When I first learned about the Altered Reality, I was very excited due to how much I enjoy the Original Reality. This new Altered Reality definitely does not disappoint and has become a staple in my bag almost immediately. I love it so much that I already drilled a second one. What I love about this ball the most is how much continuation it has for a pearl. The shape isn't overly angular but continues through the pin deck extremely well. This ball really has a hard time returning for me if I miss right and has no problem reading the heavier volume of oil on my typical house shot. This ball definitely needs some oil volume but has no problem being left to right (righty) for me whatsoever. I can get into 4th arrow and beyond before this ball starts to quit on me down lane. I adjusted the surface to 3000 to blend out the more "skid/flip" reaction I was seeing with the box finish. Taking off the polish immediately made a huge difference and made the ball more predictable while not losing much of the down lane shape at all. On the PBA Scorpion pattern, the ball allowed me to use the ball on the fresh and kept allowing me to move left with the transition. Comparative to the Reality, the Altered Reality has much more down lane shape while still reading the midlane fairly strong. I ended up drilling a pin up version as well (55 x 5.5 x 35). The pin up one not only complemented my pin down Altered Reality, but it created a lot of angle in the back part of the lane making it really ideal for the first transition from a solid converstock ball (Reality) or that ball that you need to create a lot of angle while not giving up the midlane read. Altered Reality 55 x 4 x 70 The Altered Reality is the perfect compliment to the original Reality! Its is cleaner through the front/mid lane and produces all of the hook down the lane. This ball right here is a Monster!! My goodness, I took to this ball immediately. It gives me Volatility Torque vibes, but BETTER! The OG Reality was such a usable piece for me, pin up or down, sanded or polished, the reality was fantastic. Altered Reality with the pearl cover allowed me to get left and never worry about it not hooking. This ball doesn’t bog down, it just keeps on coming back. The 900 Global Altered Reality is the pearl cover follow up to the original Reality. For me, just like the original, this ball is aggressive, belongs at the top of the line up, but is just aggressive further down the lane like a pearl is supposed to be. It does work great as a ball down from the solid Reality, and the continuation window is larger for me than on some other asymmetric balls I have thrown in the past. Much more of a rounded breakpoint instead of hook-stop. I drilled mine 70X5X80 and it is super clean and most definitely saves the motion for down lane. The low pin probably helps on the continuation factor. Overall a great follow up to the OG Reality.

Reminiscing about the great days of my bowling days, I loved the Epic line very much and the 900 Global Reality reacted just like the Roto Grip Odyssey, hoping the 900 Global Altered Reality would be the EPIC SAGA, it was a very close reaction overall. A little longer and stronger, due to updated coverstock materials. But it worked even better with the polished knock off, became less over / under and did not hydro in the front part of the pattern and I was able to use it throughout the whole night of testing, practice, and league play. UPDATE: after writing this, I went and decided to venture to an older center where "bowlers'' don't me as well as the other 2 centers I practice at or bowl leagues at, the lanes are wood in super GREAT shape, they use an older Ion machine, but the Altered Reality worked really well the whole night of practice. I did hand polish it because at 2000 grit, the ball was a little bit too early for my likings. If you are looking for a "BIGGER" piece in your league and tournament bags, this would be an AWESOME addition

If you’re looking for a asymmetrical Pearl this ball does not disappoint. It is a great compliment to the original Reality, and a good step up from the Zen. It is longer and sharper than the Reality. Then it is earlier and sharper/stronger than the Zen for me. Fits between the two balls perfect for me and gets lots of use.

WOW is all I can say. Right out of the box, I did hit it with a 3000 pad...That is how I am on Pearl balls if you read my reviews. BUT....I shot 794 series with a 300 Game! Right out of the box. Don't get me wrong, I love the Reality! But the Altered...Yeah what a great ball. Some people are different but I had the Altered drilled the same as the Reality. I really enjoy these 2 bowling balls to say the least! What a great ball to follow the Reality! This ball rolls so well. If you have a lot of oil on the lanes, start with the Reality, once the oil carry's down...Yeah the Altered has a bit more back end. I just can't get over how well 900 Global is doing. What a great ball to go with the Reality or enjoy it if its your 1st ball. I can't get over how well it rolls and how much I enjoy it!

The all new Altered Reality features the Disturbance Core which was found on the original Reality wrapped with the S84 Responsive Pearl Reactive coverstock (pearl version of the Reality cover). This new cover and core combination is a first in the 900 series line and it does not disappoint. The Altered Reality and Reality are great compliments to one another. When the Reality starts to burn up a bit early, I am able to switch to the Altered Reality to maintain similar ball motion in the front part of the lane while creating more pop down lane. The Wolverine is the newest addition to the Global 900, 700 series line. With the The Lacerate 2.0 Core, using the top portion of the Honey Badger, and the bottom portion is that of the Badger. By merging these two amazing cores into one and adding a dense flip block, we have created an engine that will change directions unbelievably sharp. Paired with the S70 Pearl Coverstock, this ball flat out hooks on the end. It is very clean through the front part of the lane storing all of its energy for when it hits the friction and once it hits that dry, there is no stopping it. This is my go to ball for when the lanes start to break down, late in the day of tournaments and you can move left and start throwing it right. For me, pearl balls that are this strong on the end, I tend to have trouble getting the corner out due to the angle, but not with the Wolverine. If you are looking for a dry - medium oil ball, the Wolverine is it.

The Altered Reality is a great ball to use after u lose carry with the Original Reality when transition kicks in on the Lanes. The Altered Reality features the S84 pearl coverstock and strong Disturbance asymmetric core at a 2.49 RG, .052 differential and a .018 intermediate differential, and it’s exactly what you’d expect it to be. The Altered is reminiscent of the original Reality, just obviously a shiny pearl compliment. The stronger cover formula still gives you the length and response you want out of something shiny, but adds extra strength and a lot more wet/dry blending. Because it gets more traction in the oil, it’s not as sensitive to the dry, and this makes the reaction more consistent, it’s not going to really jump on the dry but then get lazy in the oil like lower traction covers can. It’s the perfect step down from the bigger balls in the lineups like the Reality, Proton PhysiX, and Gem, it’s on par with other stronger pearls like the Dark Code and Parallax Effect, and a step up from the medium strength cover balls like the Rubicon, UFO Alert, RST X2, and Rubicon UC2. After having a lot of success with the original Reality, I was excited to see a pearlized version of it called the Altered Reality. Using the same Disturbance Asymmeetric core as the engine and wrapped with the S84 pearl coverstock, the Altered Reality is a high performance, strong addition to the line and rolls great. With an RG of 2.49 and differential of .052, I’ve have had a lot of success on medium-longer patterns with a good amount of volume. I’ve drilled one so far and love it. I mapped it out as 5 x 4 x 75. This puts the pin above my middle finger and the mass bias just to the right of my thumb. The Altered Reality is a perfect compliment to the original Reality, Zen, and Phaze 4. Because of the big core and low RG, this ball needs some oil on the lane to remain controllable. I’d recommend using it mainly on medium-longer patterns because of how strong it rolls. If you need a high performance asymmetrical ball with a pearl cover that never stops down lane and can be used on multiple patterns, the 900 Global Altered Reality should be the next ball you drill!

Layout: 40 x 4 1/2” x 40 The Altered Reality might have the strongest midlane roll of any polished ball that I have ever thrown. Even shiny, this thing gets through the fronts but then absolutely just digs into the middle part of the lane. For me, this makes it plenty of ball to use on a fresh medium oil house shot, and sometimes it is even too much for that! When there is enough oil I can play it straighter, but then the surface does allow me to chase it left without the ball losing too much energy, as long as I follow the oil. Our house does not have a ton of oil, so my arsenal is currently anchored on the top end by this ball, followed by the Phaze 4 and Wolverine. Both of those balls are any easy step down from the Altered Reality.

The Altered Reality is a bowling ball that I was very much looking forward to throwing knowing how well the Reality rolled for me. The Altered Reality features a successful and unique Disturbance asymmetric core and the S84 Response Pearl coverstock, which allows the Altered Reality to be cleaner through the front part of the lane. I drilled my Altered Reality with a pin-up layout, just like my Reality: 60 x 5 1/4 x 40. Even with the cleaner S84 pearl coverstock, this Disturbance core seems to want to roll very early. With the layout that I chose for my Altered Reality, I think this ball is a little bit “in between” for me. It is a little too strong and responsive for me to play straighter angles but also doesn’t have enough continuation for more open angles of play. I would drill another Altered Reality, but with a less flaring layout. I do believe this Altered Reality looks pretty good when there is a large amount of conditioner in the front/middle part of the lane pattern - like a lot of house shots - or lane surface is quite slick. The Altered Reality also works well on medium and shorter patterns when those patterns break down a little bit. Just like my Reality, the Altered Reality goes through the pins very well.

Color me impressed. I haven’t had a shiny asym in my bag for quite some time. I was reluctant to give the Altered Reality a chance but after seeing how it performed on tour I had to give it a try. It filled a giant gap in my bag that I have been needing for a while. It is tournament season and with all the different patterns I am bowling on I am surprised by how versatile this ball is. It gets down lane, takes a sharp corner but it doesn’t over shoot the pocket. I really hit my stride with the Altered game 5-6 when we had to move way left and pitch it right. It controlled the mid-lane INCREDIBLY well.

I loved so much the solid version of the original Reality. It's my favourite strongest ball. Now his pearl version, the Altered Reality, is a realy good complement. The new ball in 900 Global line is the Altered Reality. I absolutely love the original Reality. Which was a huge success on PBA tour and bowlers throughout the country. Altered is the pearl version with the S84 coverstock. I drilled mine with a pin down 5 inch pin from PAP. Man this ball likes friction and this ball might be the strongest off the spot ball I've drilled for along time. The Altered is just a very good ball period. As a result, it handles surface adjustments easily. So, don’t be afraid to dial in the S84 Pearl surface to fit your speed and rev rate. A little cut here or a bit of polish there can seriously make your Altered Reality explode for you all night! 900 Global Altered Reality Ball Review Hey everyone, I’m back with another ball review, and this time it’s for the Altered Reality and in 15 pounds this ball is wrapped in the S84 Response Pearl Coverstock and comes 1500-grit polish with an RG of 2.49 and a Diff of 0.052 and .018 Mass Bias Layout for this ball is 4.5 X 4 X 2.5 Let me first start off by saying this has been one of the most fun balls that I have thrown and haven’t had that feeling since Storm’s Phaze III. 900 Global Altered Reality Ball Review Layout: 35 X 4 ¾ X 45 Dual Angle Video Ball Review: https://youtu.be/nPUIB0cBgiE When I first drilled this piece I was expecting the S84 Pearl coverstock and Disturbance core combination to be a weaker reaction than my Dark Code. In my video ball review and first impressions with the length and how it revved up, to my eyes, it looked weaker but after using it more during leagues and getting some of the polish off the ball it is not a weaker ball than the Dark Code. I bowl in a league with a heavier volume of oil due to the older surface and if I need a stronger asymmetric piece with the pearl cover this is the ball I will use. This ball is clean through the heads but will rev up earlier in the mid lane than the Dark Code to help me control the motion off the dry. Now that I am bowling PBA 50 events with more volumes than our local house shots this ball will get some play. This ball was too strong to use on the 39’ Mike Aulby pattern but when we bowl on a shorter pattern, Del Ballard, this should be a choice in the arsenal. Today we will be reviewing the 900 Global Altered Reality. The 900 Global Reality has a low RG value of 2.49 a high differential of 0.052 and a low intermediate differential of 0.018. The Altered Reality has the S84 Response Peal Reactive cover and the Disturbance Asymmetric Core. The Disturbance core was designed with a focus on a shape that will fill a space with the least amount of material, yet still yield the RG/Diff values that all bowlers need. The S84 Response cover promotes up to 20% larger pore sizes which in turn ensures maximum traction on heavy oil. In addition, the Altered Reality will rival the original Volatility Torque with the S86R cover that was an asymmetric hybrid. In the videos you will see how the core cover combination comes together with an early revving motion in the heads combined with a strong backend reaction. I did a ball comparison to the 900 Global Reality, 900 Global Zen and a Strom Dark Code on two different patterns, on lane 1 is the PBA Dragon Pattern and Lane 2 is the house shot Kegel Stone Street. First up is the 900 Global Reality, the Reality for the purpose of this video at box finish, on both lanes you will see how the Reality is stronger in the midlane and starts up quicker but down lane the Altered Reality is stronger. To get the Altered Reality to blend the pattern better and start up quicker try hitting it with a 500/4000 Abralon if the Altered Reality is still too strong and burning up leaving the 10 pin try a 5000 Trugrit pad. In comparison to the 900 Global Zen, the Zen will be a litter more smoother through the midlane due to having a symmetric pearl coverstock but a touch more reactive on the backend giving you an option to open up your angles. The Storm Dark Code drilled pin down can give an option to ball down from the Zen when the lanes become a little dryer and more cliffed just being a very smooth read through the midlane and a great option on patterns to keep your mark in front of you. In my bag the Altered Reality will sit below the Reality on a heavy oil pattern or a fresh house shot depending on how much oil is in the mid lane. Then you can ball down to a 900 Global Zen then the Dark Code.

I drilled up my ALTERED REALITY 45 x 4 x 30. I have lightly hit this with 3000 abralon. My intent was to have a big core pearl that would be strong and continuous on the back end. The ALTERED is just that ball. I have thrown this on several conditions including PBA50 Johnny Petraglia 46 foot. The ALTERED is continuous compared to my heavy hitters like the NOVA and PROTON PHYSIX in that I could go to it when those 2 big oil monsters were starting to lag in the back end and straighten out. I can see even going down to 1500 or 2000 with this to smooth it out if the condition is more flat in the middle and you need to smooth it out in the back.

The new 900 Global Altered Reality features the S84 Response Pearl coverstock wrapped around the Disturbance Asymmetric weight block found in the original Reality. The RG at 15lbs is 2.49 with a differential of .052 and an intermediate differential of .018. This ball is a great complement to the original Reality. The Altered Reality is about 3-5 boards of overall less hook for me than the original Reality. It is much more versatile for me than the original, meaning I am able to throw the Altered on a wider variety of lane conditions. Where the original Reality is more suited for longer or heavier volume patterns, the Altered is best on the medium or broken down patterns. The box finish on the Altered Reality makes this ball cleaner and more continuous down lane. The Altered Reality has a quicker response to friction and is more angular on the backend than its predecessor. When the Reality starts leaving the weak corner pins, I can pull out the Altered, and just send it to the dry and watch it come roaring back and shredding racks. This ball is a must have for every serious bowler.

900 Global Altered Reality S84 pearl coverstock Disturbance asymmetric core The Altered Reality is as advertised and expected. A very strong, high performance, asymmetric core ball that can fit as the strongest pearl in many bags. The Altered is a great compliment to the original Reality. The strong cover helps the ball get downlane but still provides a controllable backend. Bonus...it seems to help me with the wet/dry. I assume that is because the cover is so strong that it is still getting a little traction in the oil, instead of going full-out skid/snap. Currently this is my go to big pearl. Ball down from my Nova, ball up from my rst x2.

I've actually had this ball for awhile. This one is for my stash. When the reality starts standing up too early, I can always rely on this ball to pick up where it left off. The strength to turn the corner, but longer than the usual Solid Asyms makes this ball stand on it's own until/unless SPI replaces this spot with another release.
