900 Global Cove Review
The 900 Global Cove sets the benchmark with Magna AI core on RB85 Hybrid for controlled medium-oil versatility at $174.95. Video reviews inside.
Hi, my name is Malia Briggs, Storm Junior Staffer, and today I'm doing a ball review on the new 900 Global Cove. It is a Symmetric hybrid. It comes out of the box of 4,000 grit. It's good for medium to heavy oil conditions, and for me, it's going to be like a benchmark ball. Has interesting color way. Never seen these colors before. Without further ado, let's get into the ball review. [Music]
Okay, first shot here. I'm going to stand on board 20. Let's see how she rolls. Wheel. All right, let's shot here. That's good money. Oh, yeah. Uh, like a lot of Storm's new releases,
uh, the Cove has the AI core technology. Just get a closeup. It's a really pretty ball. All right, let's send a good shot here. I really like how the last one continue through the pins. Let's get another good shot here. Mustang on board 20. Hook.
I listened to me. I hooked. Okay. I got the last one out a little bit wide. It's a better shot this time. That's a good shot. Oh, yes. That's with eight nine. Okay, I'm sending a good shot here.
Oh yeah, that was good. Oh yeah. Okay, I really like how this ball is going through the pins. I can see it being a benchmark ball with this continuous motion and controllability. Oh yeah.
Okay, three more shots here with the cove. I'm going to switch to my 900 global or GX and see what it compares. Got a couple good shots here. Come on, ball. Oh, give me that. Okay, two more shots here. Let's make it a good two.
Ah, okay. Last one. I got inside a bit. Left a four pin. Let's make this last shot here a good shot. Oh, yeah. Okay, I'm going switch out of my cove. Got my vice interchangeable. It It's just so easy. All my balls feel the same. Um, now the Origin EX, I've been
using it like a benchmark ball. So, I'm kind excited to see how it compares to the Cove. Just like I did starting out with the Cove, I'm going to stand on board 20. Let's see how this ball compares. Okay, first shot there. To me, it had kind of a similar motion, but let's throw a couple more shots and see how it looks.
That last shot uh hooked a bit early at the 3610. I'm not surprised because I do have a good bit of surface here on the Origin EX. Um so it should hook earlier. Let's do a couple more shots here and see how it looks. Okay, last tournament I hit this with 2000 grit.
There you go. Okay, two more here with the Origin X. I'm going to switch back to my cove and get left with blow slower ball speed and big wheel it. Oh yeah. Okay. I did roll this ball at high school nationals and it looked really good. The first three games, the second
day I shot at 7:30 series. So this is this ball looked amazing. know his money, but uh let's see if we can't keep it going here. Last shot. Ha, fast eight. Okay, switching out the Origin X interchangeable thumb. You guys know that I love vice. All right, let's see. Let's get left
here. Probably going to stand on board 25 and slow down my ball speed. Let's see how it looks. Ah, that was a little fast. Oh yeah, that seven p just flew. Okay, that one really came back nicely. See if
we can't do it again here. Oh, got out further. Doesn't matter. 10 back. This 4,000 grit factory finish is helping the ball save energy down lane. I'm going to move three more left and see how it looks here. So, I'm stand on board 28.
Oh yeah, that was good. Okay, let's move two more left for fun. So now I'm going to sit on board 30. Oh yeah. [Music] Okay, let's keep chasing it left. Let's move two more left here. So, now I'm going to be on board 32.
Oh, you bet. Okay, one more here and then I'm going to move to the right with a little faster ball speed. But this was fun standing left here. Okay, 32 here. See if we can't do what we did last time. Oh yeah, that's good. Oh yeah. Okay, I'm going to move right up my ball speed. I'm going to start by sitting on board 15, but the lanes are dry. Let's
see what we can do here. Oh, that was good. Okay, it's a good shot here. Oh, yeah. Mix them up. Okay, two more shots here and then I'll
do a wrap up. Oh yeah, that was nice. Okay, last shot of the video. Let's make this one 10 back.
All right, come on. Oh, wasn't quite 10 back, but I'll take it. Okay, overall this ball looks really versatile. It looked good when I got left with it. It looked good when I played the track and it looked good if I got outside of five. So, I'm really excited. It looks like a good benchmark ball. I was rolling on a 43 foot neon oil pattern. I'm excited to see how this ball looks in tournaments. Now, depending on the oil conditions, I probably will hit it with some surface. My go-to is 2,000. You've been watching out this whole video. What are you doing? Like, subscribe. I'll see you guys in the next one. Thanks for
watching. Bye. Okay, let's move right here and get the bat the ball speed.
Performance Analysis
Performance Analysis
Testing revealed the 900 Global Cove to be a well-balanced, versatile mid-lane reactive that handles multiple lane conditions without requiring significant adjustments. On a fresh house shot, independent reviewers found the ball produced predictable motion with good length through the frontend—characteristics that typically require careful release timing and loft to optimize. The Cove’s hybrid coverstock generated clean, controlled hook without excessive early friction, allowing bowlers to locate the pocket and adjust lines methodically. When compared directly to comparable symmetric and hybrid options, the Cove demonstrated stronger down-lane motion than certain sport-pattern alternatives while maintaining the controllability needed for competitive play. Reviewers noted that modest surface adjustments—bringing down the out-of-box 3000-grit finish—could be used to increase hook potential for drier conditions, expanding the ball’s effective range without fundamentally changing its core character.
What stood out most was the Cove’s adaptability across different approach angles and speeds. Testing showed the ball could be effectively thrown from multiple starting positions, from tighter angles near the boards to wider launching zones. Reviewers specifically praised its performance as a “jack of all trades” tool that didn’t lock bowlers into one particular style or lane condition. The symmetric core geometry paired with the reactive hybrid cover produced enough shape and continuation to read the lanes clearly, giving bowlers immediate feedback for micro-adjustments. This feedback loop made the ball especially useful during transitions, when oil patterns are breaking down and consistency matters most. Independent observers noted the Cove performed well in both fresh and moderately worn conditions without requiring a bag switch.
Who Is This Ball For?
The 900 Global Cove is an excellent choice for competitive league and tournament bowlers seeking a dependable benchmark ball that fills a critical role in most arsenals. Its medium-heavy oil rating makes it a natural selection for standard house shots and sport patterns, while its balanced motion profile rewards good fundamentals without penalizing minor timing variations. Bowlers who prefer direct feedback and predictable transitions will appreciate how the Cove communicates lane conditions through ball reaction, helping build confidence during competition.
This ball is equally suitable for bowlers stepping up in competition level, as testing demonstrated its effectiveness for a wide range of skill sets—from improving bowlers establishing consistency to advanced competitors managing tournament patterns. The Cove’s $174.95 price point positions it as an accessible entry point into premium reactive technology, making it practical for bowlers building out a small but effective bag. If you currently throw older benchmark equipment, plan to compete regularly, or need a workhorse ball that handles fresh oil through mid-lane transitions, the Cove merits serious consideration.

Bowlers Say
Bowlers say the Cove delivers smooth, controllable motion that works perfectly as a benchmark piece on medium to medium-heavy oil conditions. The hybrid coverstock reads the midlane well with continuous backend reaction, making it ideal for THS league play. Some noted the 4000 box finish was too clean and benefited from surface adjustments.

The new hybrid ball is called the Cove. It features a smaller core than you saw in the zen line. The drop in differential is complimented by a new RB85 cover that features a rapid oil absorption rate. This gives you an incredibly consistant mid-lane read with great continuation. I tested the cover for the first time in league. I figured with it's mid differential I would have to square it up a bit more. I gotta tell you this cover gives you more than you'd expect given the core numbers. I was at least as far left as I was accustomed to playing with my Zen 25. The shape is definitely mid-laney and smooth. It really reminds me of the XPonent in the mid-lane. If there was anything the X-ponent suffered from it was that is saw the mids so hard it stuggled to finish when covering boards. The Cove corrects that and as a result is one of my new favorite pieces. I honestly didn't go into the ball with high expectations but I think this ball is gonna be a surprise for a lot of bowlers. It looked great first game out. I did change out of it just because I had other balls I wanted to test that night, but another look at it the next day revealed that it was still in play at the end of the league session. It also seems to respond well to hand position changes so it's pretty versatile. This ball should be a fantastic tournament piece but it is great on the house shot too. I feel like this is one of those balls that might fit different parts of the bag for different people but that will be useful for everyone.
Solid cover, symmetrical core. This is a tough spot for storm to make because it has had the phase 2 and the IQ solid holding it down for the past decade. This ball is every bit as good as those balls. Reads the mids well and smooth off the break point. excellent ball for fresh conditions to blend out the wet dry
Pattern: 40ft House Shot Layout: 70 x 4 1/2 x 40 Finish: Box (4000grit) The Cove by 900Global features a new symmetrical weight block called the Magna A.I. which has a dual-hemisphere design that provides a consistent ball reaction. This ball is completed with the RB 85 Hybrid cover at 4000 grit finish. At first, I was thinking this ball wouldn’t do much for me on fresh conditions. Honestly, this ball rolls like a controlled Asymmetrical Hybrid. Hard off the spot and consistent reaction. This ball finishes with a lot of power as well, it doesn’t lose much energy at the front or midlane. Very impressed with this ball and hope that you all don’t sleep on this one. TESTING ENVIRONMENT Type: Lakes Bowl House Shot BALL: 900 Global Cove Coverstock: RB 85 Hybrid Coverstock Core: : Magna A.I. At the time of testing this ball I found it to be the closest to the Hy-Road 40, but the Cove was a tad stronger. Coming in with a 4000 surface allows this ball to save the energy for the reaction you are looking for to be strong off the pattern. I started going up 5 and kept moving left and after about 10 more boards the ball was maxed out and had to go to something a little weaker. That's where the Ember will come into play where the Cove stops.
