this thing has absolutely dominated every zone so far if it does it here I'm going to be very surprised oh it did it oh it did it the best ball of 2024 gets a tour version what's up guys Bruns Nick's back and it's time to introduce the hammer effect tour now the hammer effect tour has the Huntsman tour core which is lower differential for Less flare and
more control and it's paired with the tour V3 solid cover now I can't wait to see what this new ball does on the lanes for me with specto running of course but before we get to all that please subscribe to my channel if you haven't already now let's see what this new Hammer effect tour does out on the lanes all right let's talk about this exciting ball first off let's start with that core the radio discs on the bottom have been removed to lowered the differentials so now the RG is 2.47
differentials 036 intermediate 012 and going back to the roots of the control balls from Envy tour Obsession tour this has a tour V3 solid cover finished 5500 solid color can't wait to see what this does I got specto running bowling on Crown Jewel pattern it's fresh it's got 43 ft 22 23 units big pile of oil in the middle dryy to the outside so so these kind of bowling balls really good at controlling the pattern no matter
what you're bowling on usually from straighter angles bowling balls like this you typically do not get in and hook it but for those that have higher rev rates or maybe rev dominant sure can these bowling balls are great from all different angles for those kind of Bowlers so I'm going to try it out we're going to move it in and we're going to see what this Hammer effect tour can do a lot of anticipation and I know that people are going to be excited about this release so let's give it a shot
oh [Music] man oh man did I mention that this ball has 5500 grit uh not a lot of flare you can see we only got about this much flare about 3 in of flare that's kind of what you want to see out of this ball you don't want to see flaring across the whole ball you're not going to get that so let's wipe off the one or two oil rings that are there and try it again obviously with a ball this dull I mean speed you got to keep it up
or bring the surface up a little bit you know these are balls that are made to dig in and read the pattern that's good that's good less grabby at the bottom just kind of send it down the lane let the ball take over I mean there is a reason why B balls like Obsession tour Envy tour always Main Stays in the bag I mean Emy tour made my Nationals bag two years in a row I think that was
the only ball besides my purple that made it both of the last years that's just a testament to how good a bowling ball like that is and why bowling balls like that should be in your bag not only just your league bag but your tournament bag let's try it one more shot [Music] there cool looking ball I mean old school look just single color they don't try to do anything crazy and then the bright pink logos let hooking
hooking oh I got the nine out good continuation through there I thought that was going to go high at first you want these balls to be like roed up urethane balls you know like your purple wants to set up at 30 ft and kind of walk in the pocket that's kind of what you want to see out of bowling balls like the hammer effect tour you want something that's going to start early blend out the back end and not be susceptible to those five count8 count
splits bad stuff let's move it in let's go 20 board so we move five we'll see how this does I think this zone is going to be so perfect for this ball so perfect for this ball man that thing just RI through the pins I don't know if that was a weird Rack or what but that thing just kind of hit more like half flush not really like
super high flush and then it continued through the 89 like it was nothing might be able to see a little bit more flare nah not at all not a lot of oil on the ball either aggressive cover and it doesn't have hk22 you know bowling balls you know you don't always have to have hk22 we don't put that stuff on everything for the balls we want to be Tamer earlier smoother we have other options we got all sorts of cover stock options let's try one more shot
there what a cool ball I mean right around holiday season everybody's going to want this ball it's in a little bit here it goes so good God like honestly in the given Market can anything really beat a hammer ball I mean I made the call back in March whenever the hammer effect came out and said best ball 2024 and I think
I stuck to my guns I don't think there's a better release you tell me best Tour release now best tournament release of 2024 is that what this video is going to be called it just might be I'm going to throw one more shot there this Ball's going to be so fun to throw I just know it and it might struggle from in when I start moving in it might struggle but all that matters is how does the ball perform when you're playing in the zones it was
designed to perform in and playing the first two zones it's phenomenal ball is phenomenal that's all I got to say it's exactly as advertised there's going to be a lot of hype you know I don't know how you put hype on a ball that's meant to play straighter Lane you know and control patterns you know all the cool hype videos are kind of you know when the balls kind of Bend hard on the back in and flip hard but this is a gritty performer so let's move
it in another five we're definitely going to put this ball to the test as we move further in with a ball it doesn't flare a lot it may labor on the back end as we move in we'll find out okay that's the first sign when a ball is starting to not necessarily labor but getting too much angle in the front part and not able to recover down Lane that's usually the first thing the ball comes
in behind the headpin wrap 10 now better than a flat 10 I can adjust for a wrap 10 that's usually with bringing the speed down ever so slightly we just want that ball to tip a little sooner so it creates a little bit of a smoother Arc to the pocket once it gets set up sooner then it'll carry out that 10 it won't even have an issue with it so that's the idea here is bring the speed down a sco uhoh got it way out
wide Miss yeah that was a little Roger Dorne action ho out the window but set up fine didn't overreact to the dry and that's what these bowling balls do they don't stand out the friction and go sideways they bleed out that that energy when you hit that friction and doesn't over respond that's exactly what you want let's throw more shot there I feel like uh I haven't thrown a great shot yet so slower and More in is what I
want like that okay responds well to the minor changes that I make at the line the Minor Adjustments in speed and axis rotation so first three zones a plus so let's move it in we'll be 15 left standing on 30 so I'm going to do a little bit of the same where I'm going to keep the mindset keeping the speed a little bit
lower and just getting around the side of it I just want to see if I can get this ball to tip and go through the pins that's all I want to see what do you say that's pretty impressive I was expecting like I don't know what I was expecting it to be honest I was expecting it to maybe just like jump off the spot but it was just real tame off the spot saved a lot of energy for the pins went through it now it didn't
finish like over the8 pin or anything I probably finished somewhere around 17 and A2 somewhere 18 maybe I don't know but looked pretty good let's throw another shot there same thing I'm not going to change a thing hook a lot yep now that one slowed down and went through the pins perfect wow yeah this is immediately going into
the bag probably going to throw this in League this week start it out and then probably move into something I don't know what I'll move to there's a lot of options we just announced six more bowling balls so I'll have a lot of options of throw but let's move it one more time let's go 20 Left End of the Road standing 35 this thing is absolutely
dominated every zone so far if it does it here I'm going to be very surprised oh it did it oh it did it all right that's usually The Telltale sign that you need to go out and pre-order this ball if I eight pin with it it's probably a damn good ball Hammer effect tour eight pinning from the furthest spot 20 left that is insane I
was expecting more of like 10 pin wrap 10 you know that kind of hit light mixer maybe but not that eight pin from this angle that is so awesome oh man yes how good is this ball how good can Hammer balls get they just keep getting better and better you
we got bowling balls that hook a mile we got we got bowling balls that flip a ton we got bowling balls that control the pocket and then are versatile from every part of the lane like this Hammer f tour all right I'm just going to I'm going to move it back I'm going to move it back to I don't know 10 left pick a spot this ball was awesome pretty much everywhere I threw it I mean you agree I agree so I'm going to go back to uh 25 give it a little bit of a swing and we're going to end this video on a high note
this ball has just been unbelievably good I was expecting something way different hang on look at that you got to be kidding me I'm tripping four pins with it too it's insane guys and 4% ladies I can't say enough about this new Hammer effect tour that Huntsman tour core the changes they made to it the resulting numbers as
part of it and the cover matched all the technology is there for controlling patterns playing any part of the lane you want and just striking it wheel so that's all for the hammer effect tour if you got this ball based on this review please let me know I love hearing that kind of stuff and as always check out the merch inside bowling appreciate all the support Please Subscribe see you on another video
Performance Analysis
Performance Analysis
Independent testing of the Hammer Effect Tour revealed a remarkably versatile control ball that performed consistently across multiple zones on the Crown Jewel pattern (43 feet, fresh oil with significant volume in the midlane and carrydown to the dry edges). The ball’s defining characteristic was its minimal flare—approximately 3 inches—paired with an early read of the lane and controlled backend motion. Testers noted that the 5500 grit surface finish required consistent speed maintenance but rewarded bowlers with predictable ball motion that didn’t overreact to friction transitions. Rather than aggressive arc changes, the ball exhibited what reviewers described as a “gritty” performance style, bleeding energy gradually as it transitioned from oil to dry boards without sudden directional shifts. This behavior made minor speed and axis adjustments highly responsive, allowing bowlers to fine-tune their shot shape without drastic repositioning.
What emerged as most impressive was the ball’s consistency across all three primary zones tested (boards 20, 15, and the deepest angles at board 30). From straighter launch angles through the first zone, the Effect Tour established a smooth arc to the pocket. When moved into higher angles and deeper into the dry, it maintained control and pocket hit without the dramatic backend flip often associated with asymmetric reactive solid equipment. Even when testers intentionally pushed the ball to its limits by moving further left and standing deeper, it continued to produce reliable pin action. The ball demonstrated particular strength on glancing blows, carrying effectively through the 8-pin rather than wrapping or leaving corner pins—a hallmark of superior pin response and energy management.
Surface durability was briefly addressed when light oil rings accumulated; testers found the ball responded positively to minimal surface adjustments and continued to read the pattern effectively. The Tour V3 solid coverstock without HK22 proved sufficient for the controlled motion profile, suggesting Hammer’s design philosophy prioritizes early, measured friction engagement over maximum grip at the breakpoint.
Who Is This Ball For?
The Hammer Effect Tour is ideally suited for bowlers seeking a reliable workhorse for both league and tournament play—particularly those who value consistency and pattern control over dramatic backend motion. Bowlers with moderate to higher rev rates will benefit most, as the ball’s lower differential and controlled flare allow them to play from multiple angles without excessive reaction variability. This makes it especially valuable for tournament competition, where lane transitions and pattern reading are critical. Players currently carrying older control balls like the Obsession Tour or Envy Tour will recognize the same utility and dependability that made those balls stay-in-the-bag staples.
This ball also suits bowlers who struggle with overly responsive equipment or those transitioning from urethane-style motion profiles. If you bowl in medium to medium-heavy oil conditions and want a ball that sets up early, carries consistently through the pins, and doesn’t demand perfect speed control or exact angular precision, the Effect Tour delivers. It’s less ideal for bowlers in very light oil or plastic-heavy patterns, or those seeking a dramatic hook-and-flip backend reaction, but for anyone prioritizing versatility across different zones and lane transitions, it represents excellent value at its price point.
The Pros
- • Huntsman Tour core with low .036 differential provides controlled, predictable motion
- • TourV3 Reactive coverstock gives a smooth, even read through the entire lane
- • Lower 2.47 RG gets into a roll earlier for consistent midlane traction
- • Excellent benchmark ball for sport and challenge patterns
The Cons
- • Modest backend reaction (6.3) will not suit bowlers who want angular snap
- • Not aggressive enough to handle heavy oil volume
- • Lower pin action compared to the standard Effect line

Bowlers frequently mention:
I had a chance to work with the Hammer Effect Tour. The Effect Tour features a modified Effect (Huntsman) asymmetric core to lower the RG and differential so as to create the earlier/smoother motion. The coverstock is the Tour V3 solid colored in tour blue. Box finish is 1500 Siaair. I drilled one thus far using my favorite pin down layout of 60 x 5 x 70 and tried it today on leftover THS. I kept it at box finish. Anyone that knows my favorite pieces of equipment knows how much I love the Hammer Envy Tour. I drilled 2 originally and I used them so much in tournaments, I drilled 2 more Envy Tours with the exact same layouts to replace the first 2. Thus, when the Effect Tour was announced, my interest was definitely piqued. The Effect Tour is designed to be another slower response, smooth type of motion to provide the bowler with control on fresh which is especially effective on demanding patterns. The Effect Tour has a little higher RG and differential when compared to an Envy Tour. I tested a fresh Envy Tour with the same layout and I put it at 1500 Siaair so I could get an accurate comparison. When comparing the Envy Tour to the Effect Tour, I definitely was about an arrow further left with the Effect. The Effect Tour was maybe a tiny bit cleaner but the difference is in the backend motion. The Effect Tour has a stronger motion than an Envy Tour. I had to be about an arrow further left getting the Effect Tour to the same point as the Envy Tour. That notwithstanding, the Effect Tour will be at its best on medium to high volumes of oil on the fresh. Like with the Envy Tour, I fully expect the Hammer Effect Tour to excel on fresh sport patterns where slower response equipment is often in play. I think any bowler that competes on higher difficulty patterns will want an Effect Tour in their bag for the fresh. Personally speaking, I'll definitely be punching another 1 or 2 of these pieces. The Hammer Effect Tour releases officially on November 21, 2024. Please see your local pro shop for more information.
Hammer Effect Tour Review Stats: Speed – 17.0; RPM – 335; AT – 19; AR – 55 Layout: 45 x 5” x 40 Hammer’s newest Top Shelf launch, the Effect Tour, is a newly engineered, solid tour version of the original Effect featuring several improvements that should surely get lots of attention. Eliminating the Radial Disc from the bottom of the Huntsman core lowered the differential and intermediate differential, creating optimum numbers worthy of being Hammer’s next tour ball. I chose the layout I did to get the ball to roll forward a little sooner due to my higher tilt, but transition a bit slower to really utilize that longer, stronger roll phase of ball motion. I have used it on a couple of different patterns and here is my assessment: 42 ft. THS (typical house shot): The Effect Tour has been a very good ball for the house shot in two centers I frequent. What I love about this ball is that it chews through the oil, makes a defined move off the spot, but is still predictable enough to control from shot to shot. Very versatile to cover changes, I took mine from box finish, down to 1000 and back up to 3000, and it responds to all of those very well. If you are seeing too much early hook, take the cover up to 4000, too much length, just sand it to 1000 or even 500, it takes to those changes extremely well! Do not be afraid to adjust the surface to your game, this ball can handle it! 45 ft. Weber pattern: I just rolled on this pattern a few days ago, and the Effect Tour was the best ball in my bag on the fresh. Projection and speed control are key, and the Effect Tour at 2000 was the perfect matchup. It rolled forward perfectly and hit heavy through the pins, carrying the off pocket hits extremely well. As the four game block progressed, I was able to move further inside, roll the ball firm off my hand, and it saw the friction consistently, making my moves easier and more trustworthy, resulting in higher scores and more confidence in the ball. If you are looking for that “benchmark” ball reaction from a high end asymmetric, with just a slightly lower diff. to help on those tricky sport patterns, look no further than the Hammer Effect Tour. Available to order now from Bowler Builders Pro Shops! Nothing hits like a Hammer!
The Hammer Effect tour is a smooth Solid with a great backend motion and hits like a ton of bricks. This will be a good league or tournament addition to your bag. If you like something that can smooth the pattern out with a great motion towards the pocket this ball will not disappoint. Plan on getting another soon!
The new Hammer Effect Tour is the solid Hammer Effect we’ve been waiting for! The new Hammer Effect Tour has the successful new Huntsman core but has eliminated the Radial Disc which is found in the original Hammer Effect, which lowered the differential and intermediate differential. Hammer infused this ball with the Tour cover, TourV3 Solid, creating a ball shape and motion that will catch the attention of any bowler at all levels. Any of the Hammer Tour balls have been incredible predictable and successful. The new Hammer Effect Tour carries on that known predictability and consistency known in the Tour bowling balls. The Hammer Effect Tour moves much sooner in the midlanes and is much more responsive off the friction. Like the original Hammer Effect, you can miss right with this ball, and it still recovers and retain its energy and hitting power. I put a 55x4.5x35 layout in this ball to create more length and backend to provide a more aggressive ball reaction off the spot. I absolutely love the Hammer Effect and now the Effect Tour is a ball that will always be in my bag because of its versatility and predictability on both oily and medium lane conditions. Keel believing the hype about the Hammer Effect and now the Effect Tour because everything you are hearing is true. The new Hammer Effect Tour is once again going to change the game of bowling and is available in your local pro shop!
Simple put.. wow. The Effect Tour is smooth, predictable and continuous which is exactly what you want in a tour ball. This has been the first and sometimes only ball out of my bag in a variety of conditions
