Motiv Aspire Spare Ball Review
The Motiv Aspire is a reliable polyester spare ball built to go straight in four bold colorways, a must-have for any arsenal. See ratings & video.
What's going on, guys? Welcome back to the channel. My name is Louis, and on today's video, we are going to talk about the brand new Motive Spare Ball, the Aspire. Now, the Aspire is a pure polyester spare ball uh that comes in four different color options. I had a poll on my channel and people voted unanimous, not unanimously, but like there was like 2,000 votes and like 49% wanted me to get the sky blue one. So, that's exactly what we're going to do. Before we get into any more details, please consider subscribing to the
channel. I would really appreciate it. If you'd like to order this jersey, use uh the promo code napoulos10 efx.co. And if you'd like to order my 500 grit shammy, right, use the link down below in the description. I super appreciate it. Huge shout out and thank you to Jerry Frankmano here at Sunset Station for accommodating us. As always, you're also going to notice I'm wearing my brand new Dexter C the C9 knits. Now, I'm not on staff with Dexter, but they did hook me
up. They did take care of me. I shot some videos for them, and uh of all the shoes they sent me, these are the ones that are the most comfortable. So, shout out to Dexter. Again, they didn't ask me to do that. I'm doing that just because I want to. So, we're here. We're going to be shooting the 10pin to start. I was going to shoot this initially somewhere else. Um, but the other place I went to didn't allow me to set up pins however I wanted. So, that's what we're going to do. Uh, I did drill this two-handed. Now, the reason I did that is because I am going to be bowling hybrid this year in league, but I didn't I'm not sure
which way I'm going to shoot spares yet. So, because of that, I drilled it two-handed and then if I end up wanting to go one-handed, then I'll just drill a thumb in. But, if I drill a thumb and then decide I want to stay two-handed, then I have to plug that thumb. So, for right now, we're going to be throwing this two-handed. And who knows, maybe I'll draw a second one and bring two different spare balls every week to league. We'll see you on the lanes. All right. So, here's going to be the first one. Now, keep in mind, this is an excuse. Someone said that I make excuses. This Listen, I'm Cuban from Miami. I make excuses. No big deal,
right? I haven't shot spares all summer. League starts in two weeks. This was a good time to get this spare ball. So, we're going to shoot a couple 10 pins. We'll shoot a couple 610s. 3610s, blah blah blah blah blah. You already know how we do it. So, we're going to get here. Let's learn how to shoot a 10 pin again. That looks pretty good. Yeah. I mean, it goes straight. Uh, you know, these spare reviews, someone said that, oh, you can
see when it slows down, blah, blah, blah. All the spare balls are going to slow down and hook just a little bit. Especially me being two-handed, I'm not going to get a spare ball that's going to go 100% dead straight. You know, this has a little bit of a pancake core. The differential is pretty high. I don't I don't know why. You know, I asked him I asked Scott Hwitt when I saw him. I said, "Hey, why does it have such a high differential?" As of the time of recording, I don't have an answer. But this is pure polyester. It's not like
the snipers where the snipers like the oil doesn't pancake on the cover. I feel like on this the oil stays on the cover. No, we're one for one. We should stop the video cuz I haven't missed yet. I'm I'm telling you, I'm going to miss a 10 pin in this video. There's no way around that. But it's okay. You know, it slows down a little bit,
sure, but it goes pretty straight and that's all I can ask for. Uh maybe I'll shoot one more 10 pin and then I'll reset the rack. This is not going to be I'm not going to be able to do this in completely one take without a bunch of dead time while I'm resetting the pins. Um so you're just going to have to believe me. All right, we'll shoot one more 10 pin here. And I feel like I really have to wipe this because the oil just like stays on the cover.
My ball speed there says well the first one says 14 1/2. The second one says 36. So obviously the speed gauge is wrong. Yeah. I mean it goes straight. That's all I can say about that. Uh, pause right now. It's going to be only a quick second for you guys. I'm going to switch over the uh the things. And actually, I
might just keep it going like this. Change pattern and just reset this. All right. So, it is just going to be one shot. I'll just fast forward through that. Now we're going to shoot the 610. You know, I I think that I mean, we've already seen what we need to see, right? Does the ball go straight? Yes. Does Lewis suck at shooting spares? I would say yes, but I went three for
three with a 10pin, which is my most common leave. So, for this, you know, I'm going to move three boards, right? I follow the 369 rule, uh, which means if I if I 10 pin, I stand at 35, right? Stand at 35. If I 610, I move three right. If I 3610, I move three right. So 369. Three boards, six boards, nine boards. So I'm going to move three right. Shoot the same spot.
And I think it's important that when you shoot spares, this video is not really about how to shoot spares, but I think it's important that when you shoot spares, you're not thinking about, oh, where do I need to stand? Where do I need to do this? If I 10pin, I go to the same spot every time. If I 610, I go to the same spot every time. If I 3610, I go to the same spot every time. It just makes it easier. So, we'll shoot this one more time. I really want to shoot the 3610 because I don't normally throw that straight. I
normally uh just like hook at it, but I think this year I really want to take a you know a commitment here and and shoot spares with my spare ball. Oh, I might miss that. Oh, got it, baby. I I did miss left and it hooked just a little bit. Let's switch this over to the 3610.
You know, all that matters is that you made it. Nothing else matters. You know, my speed has been pretty consistent between 14 12 and 15, except for that one that read at 36 milesPH, which obviously I did not throw 36 miles an hour at that at that ball at that pin. So, something was off there. All right.
So, 3610 again. I'm just going to move three boards, right? Let's hit some air here. So, three, man. I might miss it. Oh, got it. Hey, I haven't missed a spare yet. Yeah. I mean, I really, really wanted to
throw this straight at all these pins to see if it was going to curve cuz, you know, that differential, I'm not going to lie to you, did scare me. Um, seeing a spare ball with that much differential as a two-hander who's rev dominant because I don't throw the ball very fast was very scary. Sunset Station, whether you want to believe me or not, right, Sunset Station is the hookingest bowling center in Las Vegas. Ask anyone who lives here, anyone who's bowled here, they'll tell you the truth. And that spare ball is going straight.
Ultimately, that's all that I can ask for. I, you know, I I Does it go straight? Yes. Can I shoot it at the 10 pin as a two-hander? Yes. Everything else kind of just falls into place. So, let me know in the comments. What do you think about this Aspire spare ball? Are you going to get one? Are you not going to get one? It is significantly cheaper than the snipers price point- wise. Snipers are like 210 bucks. These, I think the last time I checked, they're like 70 bucks. So, for me, I I like the
price point of that aspire. So guys, we'll see you on the next video.
Performance Analysis
Performance Analysis
Independent testing of the Motiv Aspire revealed a polyester spare ball that delivers straightforward performance at a competitive price point. Testing on the dry oil conditions at Sunset Station—noted as one of the hookiest bowling centers in Las Vegas—showed the Aspire tracking remarkably straight toward its target. Across multiple spare leaves (10-pin, 6-10 split, and 3-6-10 split), the ball maintained consistent ball speed between 14-15 mph and demonstrated minimal deflection or hook, which is the hallmark of an effective spare ball. The polyester coverstock resisted oil absorption, keeping the surface dry throughout the test session, which contributed to the ball’s predictable motion down the boards.
One notable characteristic that emerged during testing was the ball’s relatively high RG differential—atypical for a spare ball of this type. Despite this specification suggesting potential for more angular motion, the Aspire proved forgiving in real-world conditions, even for a rev-dominant two-handed release. The ball’s symmetric core and pure polyester composition meant it exhibited minimal skid and maintained a direct line to the pins. Testers noted the polyester cover required regular cleaning due to oil retention, but this maintenance need is standard for the coverstock type. At the $79.95 price point—significantly lower than comparable premium spare balls—the Aspire delivers reliable performance without the premium price tag.
Who Is This Ball For?
The Aspire spare ball is an excellent fit for league bowlers seeking a dedicated spare ball without significant financial investment. Its straightforward motion and forgiving characteristics suit both one-handed and two-handed bowlers, making it particularly valuable for players transitioning between release styles or those uncertain which spare-shooting approach they’ll adopt long-term. The lower price point makes it accessible for bowlers building their arsenal or those new to league play.
This ball is also well-suited for bowlers competing on heavier oil patterns where a pure polyester spare ball can maintain its integrity. Its performance on notably hooky lane conditions demonstrates that the Aspire won’t overreact to reactive backends or slick backends, making it a reliable backup option when reactive resin balls are over-playing the lanes. However, bowlers who prioritize ultra-premium brands or those seeking premium finishes with extended warranties may want to consider higher-priced alternatives. For budget-conscious players and league bowlers focused on fundamental spare shooting, the Aspire delivers excellent value.

This has to be "the best spare ball that I have ever owned"! The ball goes straight as advertised & you can't beat the price. Bert McGhee Jr

My spare shooting has greatly improved. For example, I am making my 10 and 7 pin spares with accuracy. When the lanes are really dry, the Aspire Purple Siver and Black down the center of the lane does the trick, and I strike or hit 9 leaving a 1 pin spare. Great ball, go Motiv.

I received this ball two ago, had it drilled and rolled on Dec 4, 2025. This ball exceeded my expectations. I killed my spares. When the lanes dried up I used this ball up the 15 board. It straight to the pocket. Heck of a ball.
I have rolled more than 15 games with this ball using the 3-6-9 spare method and this ball tracks straight to the spare with hooking, wiggling, or slowing down. It is easily controlled. This a winner spare ball for me. Even my league bowlers are impressed with the ball, the colors , how straight it goes down the lane and takes care of business.
