Motiv Evoke Mayhem Review
Motiv's heavy oil nuclear option for 2026. The Overload core on solid coverstock crushes tour-level conditions at $204.95. Video reviews inside.
Oh, >> got no regrets. I'm on the run, chasing the check, dropping the top, riding the vet, telling myself what you expect. You know I'm with it. No better feeling cuz I could have quit but I didn't 007 when I'm on a mission. Moving it up to a better position. They thought I was >> What's going on social media land? New Evoke Mayhem layout 60 by 5 by 30, but we did with this one. Um, yeah, the colors, man.
Look like the the original Voke and the I think like the Subzero Forge, I guess, like kind of had a baby. That's what we got. We got this bad boy. So, apparently cover stock, right? They kind of re reverse engineered, you know, the cover stock that the propulsion cover stock that was on the the Pearl and they kind of just gave us some think Duramax, you know, additive to make it a little bit earlier, right? And they gave us a solid. So, apparently, again, not supposed to be as early and as strong as the original Evoke, but something a
little bit cleaner. I think in theory, this should follow along the same lines as like a Black Widow, right? In theory. So again, if the cover is as clean and as responsive, um it should be interesting at least. So we do have a house shot today. Then we have a sport pattern um 43 ft 43 ft uh krypton. So we'll check out both, right? We'll start a house shot before I run off everybody. So we're going to start there and then, you know, y'all can skip this part or, you know, the ball might be exceptional,
which honestly believe like this is they released this ball. I believe the previous year, right, it was a Venom first. So I'm still waiting on the Venom line bowling ball. So now, but the tour is right here, right? February. So makes sense to release this ball right now, right? So the players get their hands on it and use it for tournaments. So yeah, man. Want to check this one out and um yeah, hopefully we strike a lot. Fingers crossed. Hit that like subscribe button. If you're in South Florida, get over to our Bolero Tamre Bullse Pro Shop. They
take care of me, take care of you guys. Now, I got this ball kind of late, so I haven't had the time to get all the stuff, you know, prepared like normal. So, if a couple videos may be late here and there, you know, I'm working best I can. But again, happens real life. So, let's get to the links. We're using Joe Po's best thing on the market, man. Kind of hands down. Not even close. But house shot.
Let's see what we get. That was pretty good. That was pretty good. Let's get a couple. Let's get a couple. See how good this this kind of stays. Yeah. First shot has been, you know, feel like it was actually a decent amount of oil on the lane when I threw a couple practice shots. So, I haven't thrown
this one any practice shots, but Oh, I really caught it, too. Okay, we two for two. Two for two. Ball has a lot to live up to with the Voceria having such an impressive run, uh, especially on the PBA tour last season. So,
big strong solids. Definitely still giving me, like I said, a little bit cleaner reaction. Definitely. And it it says like the uh the vengeance, right? Evoke vengeance. I like want to make that a title. It might be a video come up. But it's just you saw it deflect a little bit. But it's
it's telling me like I don't need to jump, you know, too far to the left yet because it's fresh oil. Yeah. Not moving my feet too crazy. Hovering around like 21 22 on my feet. Oh yes. And I'm getting getting more and more comfortable. And that's I'm liking it. I know you're like, "Charles, you like every bowling ball." I'm like, "Hey,
y'all don't watch enough of the videos." Cuz y'all know immediately like, "Ah, Charles ain't feeling that one." And I'm trying to give it, you know, other instances in which it could work. So far, man, we doing a bit of striking. Oh, that went a little wide. That went a little wide. And I didn't know, right? Oh, is that going to make up to the hill? But we on something. We on to something
today, man. This how we starting. And this is the first video I shot today, by the way. This is the first one. Oh, hook. Ah, stone one. All right, cool. We can let that go now. All be like front seven like oh we going crazy again. We will get to comparing it against the original Voceria as well.
But since we on a little bit of a string, let's let's continue it. Let's continue it. Okay. All right. So, let's keep on going here. Oh, back to back. Think I might have to follow, you know, EJ's advice, man. Just hit it harder, bro. Or Jason Eubanks.
And we making spirits today, too. It's crazy. It's one of my OG jerseys. I ain't put it on in a while. I was feeling pretty colorful. I knew this mayhem was coming. So, I was getting some some some idea, right? Some of these some of those earlier shots, right, was starting to deflect a little bit. So, I probably should move a little bit, right? And hope it doesn't completely jack knife.
So again, probably can rot that line pretty well. >> I don't even know any. >> Oh my gosh. Oh, there we go. We got lucky. All right, that's 10. Let's see if we can throw a couple more. Solid little start off game. But it definitely got smoother, you know, and I wouldn't say like it's lame shine like crazy, but from the start, right, like it just
it's gotten smoother. So again, moving. >> Ah, there we go. So, I probably could definitely still come around it a little bit more, but the straighter I go, typically the more forward I get cuz I don't want this ball tipping and getting, you know, too angular, you know, through the back end cuz again, I just don't want that problem.
Yep. Just like that one. I caught it. So, now we can start playing a little bit. I'm pick up the vocus area, which I have a sneaky suspicion it's going to be cleaner because of the the pearl in the cover stock. So, we're going to jump around a little bit here and then we're going to jump to the other pattern so you kind of see what it looks like. And I feel like this ball is going to be geared towards that consumer. Um, people bowling on the tough and yeah, it's probably going to be a tour ball. But,
uh, so far I'm not mad. I'm not going to like box it into that because we just had a lot of strikes. >> I'mma jump further left just so we can see. Try to get my hand around a little bit. Help it corner. >> Oh, that that turned pretty nice. That turned pretty nice. Oh.
So, like that one, you can definitely throw it through it. And yeah, like it's not it's not a Jagalonics. I know I didn't bring it today. I'm sorry. Sorry, folks. But wisteria. Yeah. So, softball in it. I think it should be pretty a pretty nice little pairing, right? the evoke mania mayhem
starts going, you know, a little too forward at the back part of the lane, leaving you corner pins. You pick up the the pearl ball, it's going to do the job. So, the hysteria move right more on top of where we were when I was doing all the striking. >> So, bring the speed down. I think I still could be throwing the the mayhem. Um, and just again just trying to get
around a little bit, cheating a little bit left cuz again still a decent amount of oil. We saw that pearl just kind of slide. >> Try one more. Being a little nicer to it at the bottom being a little slow. Oh, right in front. No diggity. So you can get left though. I think it's going to be a strong suit. Probably not.
But let's move further right. Fire a couple before we get to all the punishment on the sport batter. No love. No love. I could think I could do that a little bit better. Add a little more speed. Try to get this ball to project and kind of wave it. All right, jumping to 15. Trying to get it. There she blows.
You got to try. You got to try hard, guys. Try hard. You two can succeed. And most of the time when I'm throwing again a lot of stronger solids, I can play this this uh a little bit straighter because the balls are just rolling get to a roll so fast. They typically are not the most angular down lane. Oh, that's not going to hook though. I'm going to took out I could have took out
a temp pin with that one. I did. I could have. All right, one more good one and then we going to jump to the sport pattern. Move a little left. Ah, couldn't shake it out. Ah, that had to do. Don't want to be here all day. So, let's go ahead and jump over to the sport pattern. All right, so again, I've only thrown like one practice shot with the pearl ball. I haven't even, you
know, practiced on this. So being 43 ft, right? Do the rule of 31. That puts us right at 12. So I should be a little bit more in. But 43 ft, you know. Let's see. Play up the ditch. Like everybody always says, play up the ditch. This probably going to be really bad. That wasn't too bad. That wasn't too bad. It slid forever. It's live forever, but
but 100%, you know, typically speaking, all to the surface to make it a little earlier. >> So again, 12 around there, right? Just kind of paralleling everything in. And I feel like if I do end up leaking one or two to the right, I'm probably going to be in trouble. And typically the longer the pattern, right, the closer you are getting to the
pocket. >> But so far this looks pretty good. >> Oh, baby. She like some oil. >> Like this is That's pretty good. That's pretty good. I'm not going to lie. That looked pretty good, guys. Again, there's no warm-up. This ball's flaring
pretty good. And again, I don't have a super strong layout on it cuz again, I don't bowl on the tough all the time. Oh, buddy. That is Stay right there. Stay right there. We can cook. We can cook a little while. Might pull out the grill. Pull out some some hamburger patties, man. Smoke some brisket on this right now. Yeah, man.
This and the um Apex Jackal watch sport pattern killers. Just so you see, I miss left. Cross over. It is going to be again a tighter pattern like where you're hitting uh just so you can see but this particular ball and a ball like the the Vengeance and you again there
will be a secondary video to follow this and we'll do some comparisons um just to kind of get a better understanding right on the pattern while I have it out. But I'll make a bigger jump. I'm going go to 25 my normal house shot place and see what we get when I try to again just throw it a little bit toward the right just so you know I ain't lying like this
is a sport pattern it's not a house shot it's but I think krypton I don't know if it's a full you know like super hard shot might be just one of the recreational patterns I'm not certain information is on the screen. You can look it up because it doesn't feel impossible. It definitely doesn't feel impossible. I can say that much confidently where some stuff it's like immediately you can just tell like oh this is crazy amount of oil. You got to be perfect
skirt. Yep. Never going to hook. So again, this is not where you would play with this ball. Not even close. So I'm going to move back a little bit right and I'mma throw this ball and then a hysteria a little bit and then we're probably going to get out of here. So again, 20 looks pretty good and really keeping this ball like kind of like at 10. So I'm kind of looking at down lane. And if you look to the rule of 31, 43 ft, 31, that gives us Yeah. a lot closer to getting 112.
Oh, and it it almost carried that too. That's what you like to see. Like, you know, a little hold again. Did leave me something impossible. I am missing a five pin, but we're going to throw it anyway. I needed that five pin there. It would have slapped something else out, but but yeah. Yeah, more surface ball sliding a
little bit much, but playable. Again, didn't look impossible. Anything like that. Um yeah, I'm going to move a little further right cuz I think if I was really trying to break the shot down, if I had practice, you know, I was trying to go in to compete, I'll be taking something with a little more surface, trying to burn up the outside of the lane. So, playing this tighter line is doable. because I feel like there was hook off the gutter, but you have to be much more slower with the speed.
You saw how much that one just slid down the lane. That is really again telling why you would again move a little bit closer to the pocket so you don't have have to ask the ball to do as much. All right, so let's move let's move a little left. Yeah. Try to line it up parallel everything in. So, keep it keep it in. Look pretty good. Let's throw the hysteria. Let's
see how much cleaner that ball is. I think we probably going to get into a little bit of trouble because of how much cleaner it is. I said this is this is a lot. So, similar speed. That ball just it slid forever. Again, if I want to make that ball work, probably need to hit it with like, you know, a th00and maybe. All right. So, to kind of compensate for
how much cleaner this ball is, I'm going to slow down. Ah, hook a lot. Gave it time to make up that that difference. I still missed a little right. Um, but it did something that's reasonable. So, you also could play this super kind of tight line, but I think it's going to hook by moving too far to the left and trying to play like the fade on this. Not enough bl down the
lane. Oh, you still can do that. House shot. House shot, baby. But comment under this video and let me know which which video you want to see first. This versus the Widow 2.0, Widow 3.0 Dynasty, or this in a Vengeance. Y'all let me know. I think these are two against Sporting Balls that make a lot of sense to kind of pair them next to each other. Or maybe this in a Transformer. Which one you want to see
first? let me know. So, let me get further left like we just did with that previous shot. Oh my goodness. Oh, that ball hooked. That ball hooked. So, again, ball reaction. I'm curious how does it look in my league shot. I think I can get away with it. It doesn't look the furthest thing from a Spartan in my personal opinion. It doesn't. It
doesn't. It gives me a lot of that same vibe. Maybe a pinch cleaner, but let's throw Let's throw one more. Liking the motion. This is definitely a motion. I think the competitive bowl is going to like for real. And then also the average league bowler who's looking for a little more control. Um, but don't want something as big as a zero mercy solid because it's like too much uncontrollable hook.
Oh, that's that's breaking off. Ah. >> All right, I'm going to scoot scoot back. I want to get one good strike before I go. Got to get one. See it? Oh yeah. There you have it. All the strikes. Um, this ball seems fun. Um, again for me typically I see a little more hook out of some most bowling balls. I guess the AIC jackal
was kind of like an exception. It all look still pretty smooth for me. Um, the pin down layout looked better. Um, but still, yeah, this one looks like I can't wait to see what the Storm Sters, you know, think of it, use it, you know, what do they come to? But yeah, till next time. Hopefully you guys enjoyed yourself. Got a sport shot today and a house shot. Hopefully again when I can when the center again was empty today, it allowed me to do this. So again, I want to feed everybody as much as possible, but not the easiest thing. But
anyway, appreciate you guys. Hit that like right now.
Performance Analysis
Performance Analysis
Independent testing revealed the Motiv Evoke Mayhem to be a well-balanced asymmetric solid that lives up to its positioning as a cleaner alternative to the original Evoke. On a house shot with fresh oil, the ball demonstrated consistent striking power with a smooth, controlled backend reactionโnotably less aggressive and angular than its predecessor. Testers found the ball responded well to minor adjustments in line and speed, remaining forgiving when thrown slightly left of the optimal line without overreacting. The reactive solid coverstock proved responsive to oil patterns without becoming overactive, allowing the bowler to maintain the same general line for multiple strikes before needing to move significantly.
When taken to a 43-foot sport pattern (Krypton), the Evoke Mayhem showed measurable versatility despite limited practice time. The ball displayed strong flare potential and adequate length through the front end before meeting the dry boards. Testers found it playable on tighter angles without becoming unmanageable, though they noted that a surface adjustment or pearl complement would be beneficial for handling extended oil patterns more effectively. The solid coverstockโs resistance to lane shine was evident as it continued to track consistently throughout the session, maintaining predictable motion rather than skidding excessively.
The testing reinforced the manufacturerโs design intent: the Evoke Mayhem occupies the middle ground between entry-level solids and high-intensity tour equipment. It proved easier to control than heavier asymmetric cores while still offering enough backend motion for modern bowling. Bowlers looking for a heavy-oil ball that prioritizes consistency and manageability will find the motion characteristics particularly appealing.
Who Is This Ball For?
The Evoke Mayhem is ideally suited for competitive bowlers and advanced house shot players who regularly encounter heavy oil conditions and want a dependable asymmetric solid without excessive hook potential. This ball works best for bowlers transitioning into stronger equipment or those who prefer a more controlled, predictable arcโparticularly players who struggle with over-aggressive backend reaction. The $204.95 price point and performance profile suggest itโs a serious investment for bowlers ready to move beyond entry-level reactive solid gear but who donโt necessarily play tour events requiring maximum aggression.
Tournament-focused bowlers who regularly see challenging oil patterns will appreciate the Evoke Mayhem as part of a well-rounded arsenal. Pairing it with a pearl complement (such as the original Evoke or similar cleaner-cover option) maximizes versatility across varying lane conditions. The ball is less suited for dry-lane bowlers or those with significant revolutions who need tighter, earlier-hook equipment. Recreational bowlers on typical house shots may find it slightly over-engineered for their needs, though the forgiving characteristics mean itโs not a poor choice for advancing players willing to invest in equipment.

If you loved the Evoke Hysteria, this is going to be the best compliment if you need something stronger. The Evoke Mayhem was advertised from the beginning as the solid version of an Evoke Hysteria and there is zero question that it absolutely is that! The Mayhem is a touch cleaner in the fronts than the original Evoke, but with more overall motion downlane allowing this to be one of the most versatile if not the most versatile solid asym we have ever produced, even giving the Jackal Ghost a run for its money! Given more time on the lanes with it, it may overtake the Jackal Ghost as my favorite solid asym I've ever thrown. If you are in need of a solid asym that gives you the ability to play nearly any part of the lane, this is the one for you! - MOTIV Staff Member Anthony Evans
Compared to the original this ball has a little more slide through the fronts and a little more pop on the back end.. one of my favorites!

The action at the end of the lane speaks for itself. This is the perfect ball for oily lanes. Even on some dryer lanes the responsiveness is great. I love it.
