hey motive Nation Nick par here with you in Grand Rapids Michigan at Spectrum Lanes introducing the new [Music] [Music] evoke
really excited about this new core and cover combination um we've got a brand new asymmetrical core called the overload and that is actually 248 050 015 um still a low RG moderately High differential and a kind of smaller intermediate differential so you can see a lot of different shapes it's not going to get too forward down Lane unless you drill it really strong you can manipulate the core to actually flare less or more depending on your layout it's got the new leverage mxc cover so it's an updated version of the forge flare which is where this is going exactly on the same you know part of the
ball chart so you'll see that it's a stronger you know earlier rolling but still hooks enough down Lane whereas the for player was just a really early rolling ball um that might have been almost too early for a typical house shot so it's more of a tournament ball this is a little bit more overall just a really good ball for when they're fresh or on tougher longer patterns um something where you need to see like the ball stand up kind of in the middle but still retain enough access rotation down Lane and get to the pins the right way all right so the first ofok you're going to see me throw is typical tester layout for me which is 55 by 5 and 1 half by 35 this one's going to stand up in the middle it's definitely going to force me
a little bit further left um into the puddle but still going to see enough shape down Lane I'm not too forward or anything like that just because the mass bias is still pretty close to my thumb if I were to kick that out closer to my bow I would definitely see it be little bit more forward down [Music] there all right so the second evoke you're going to see me throw is my pin down layout that I love especially on Asim um this is 45 by 5 and 3/4 by 65 now with this mask being a little bit further over even though you know it is
closer to my Val it's a weaker pin so it's still going to get further down Lane to be a little bit rounder motion overall it might overall hook more total boards but it's going to be further down Lane whereas the pinup version is going to be a little bit earlier and that's why it's forcing me further left all right so as I touched on this a little earlier um we're really excited about this new asymmetrical cord just because we can kind of change those differential numbers quite a bit after Drilling um and we're going to talk about that with two different layouts here so I did a 70x 5x 10 layout and a
70x 5x 80 now I just changed that Val angle so obviously that Val angle is what dictates how much flare on this ball um so what you're going to see is the 10 Dee valve is going to flare an enormous amount it's going to have wider flare Rings between each one and then that's going to create a little bit more traction on the lane and you'll see a stronger overall shape now going to that 80° one it's a much lower pin it's going going to decrease the differential quite a bit and you're going to see that that those flare rings are a lot closer together especially in the front on the ball all right so like I said this is my
70x 5x 10 so you that's why you'll see the pin so much higher up here um puts the mass just above my thumb 70° so it's going to retain a little bit more AIS rotation going down the lane um so it's going to give you a little bit more angle down off the off the end of the pattern but it's going to flare a ton because of that 10° [Music] valve all right so then that other one that I was talking about I did 70x 5x 80 that's why the pin is so much lower down here um that 80° is actually going to tighten up those flare Rings allow me to get a little bit closer to the friction
but that 70° is still going to retain axis rotation and come off the spot plenty hard down Lane but it's not going to force me so far left into more of the oil because I'm decreasing flare and overall [Music] differential
Performance Analysis
Performance Analysis
Testing revealed that the Motiv Evoke delivers strong mid-lane control with a more measured backend motion compared to its predecessor, the Forge Flare. Independent reviewers observed the ball standing up effectively in the middle of the lane before transitioning downlane—a characteristic that makes it better suited for fresh or challenging longer patterns than the earlier-rolling Forge Flare. The new Leverage MXC coverstock paired with the Overload asymmetric core (248 RG, 0.50 differential) produced consistent, controllable motion across multiple drilling layouts on the test pattern. Reviewers noted that the relatively close intermediate differential and lower RG allow bowlers to manipulate the ball’s flare characteristics significantly through layout selection, providing versatility without forcing an unnaturally early roll down the lane.
The testing highlighted the core’s responsiveness to drilling variations, particularly val angle adjustments. When tested with a 70x5x10 layout, the ball produced maximum flare and a stronger overall shape with more acute angle at the pins. The same core drilled at 70x5x80 tightened flare rings considerably while maintaining axis rotation, generating more controlled motion that didn’t push the bowler excessively into heavy oil. This demonstrated that the Evoke can be tailored from an aggressive tournament layout to a more moderate house shot option depending on drilling specifications—giving bowlers genuine control over how much energy and continuation they want downlane. Whether thrown with pin-up or traditional layouts, the ball retained enough shape throughout the pattern without overreacting early.
Who Is This Ball For?
The Evoke is designed for competitive and serious house bowlers preparing for tournament conditions. It excels for bowlers who encounter fresh oil, longer patterns, or competitive lane surfaces where earlier-rolling balls prove too aggressive or inconsistent. The ball’s mid-lane control and measured backend make it particularly valuable for bowlers who need predictable motion without excessive skid distance—those who want the ball to work for them rather than forcing adjustments deeper into the pocket oil.
This ball also appeals to drilling enthusiasts who enjoy tailoring core dynamics through layout selection. Bowlers who understand how val angles and pin positions affect flare and differential will find the Overload core rewarding to experiment with, allowing them to fine-tune the Evoke for their specific release and lane conditions. At $204.95, it represents a solid mid-range investment for serious bowlers moving beyond basic equipment but not yet committed to high-end premium options.
The Pros
- • Strong hook potential with Overload asymmetric core
- • Propulsion MXV coverstock handles heavy oil effectively
- • High flare potential (5-6 inches) creates excellent pin carry
The Cons
- • Limited versatility outside of heavy oil conditions
- • May be too aggressive for medium oil patterns

If you loved the Evoke Hysteria, this is going to be the best compliment if you need something stronger. The Evoke Mayhem was advertised from the beginning as the solid version of an Evoke Hysteria and there is zero question that it absolutely is that! The Mayhem is a touch cleaner in the fronts than the original Evoke, but with more overall motion downlane allowing this to be one of the most versatile if not the most versatile solid asym we have ever produced, even giving the Jackal Ghost a run for its money! Given more time on the lanes with it, it may overtake the Jackal Ghost as my favorite solid asym I've ever thrown. If you are in need of a solid asym that gives you the ability to play nearly any part of the lane, this is the one for you! - MOTIV Staff Member Anthony Evans
Compared to the original this ball has a little more slide through the fronts and a little more pop on the back end.. one of my favorites!

The action at the end of the lane speaks for itself. This is the perfect ball for oily lanes. Even on some dryer lanes the responsiveness is great. I love it.
