Motiv Venom Hysteria Review
The cleanest, most angular ball in the Venom line — Shock reliability with a sharper backend move at $174.95. Video reviews inside.
That should be in a money zone. >> Oh my goodness. >> Y'all saw that. >> Got no regrets. I'm on the run. Chasing the check. Dropping the top. Riding the vet. What you expect? You know I'm with it. No better feeling cuz I could have quit but I didn't. When I'm on a mission, moving it up to a better position. They thought I was tripping. >> I ain't see this coming. Venom Hysteria.
Like same colors, the Venom core hysteria cover. Yeah, like this is how you know I was hoping January to be, but you had a lot of traction with the Nebula. don't need to bring another clean responsive bowl in ball. But because this differential is knocked down quite a bit in relation to a Nebula, this should offer a different shape. I'm assuming still clean, but more on the predictable side where the Nebula can be a little haya, like a
little too much at times, but yeah, I'm layout 50 by 4 1/2 by 55. All my low differential stuff is going to be getting this layout. Um, you have a house shot. Again, I've only shot like one video on it using some cleaner stuff. So, still plenty of oil out there. Um, but this ball's going to be transition. It's not gonna be a game one ball, even though you might see EJ throwing it, you know, at the next event, you know, and cuz he got he got
10 of them already and he going to blast some with surface. So, but anyway, we're going to take a quick glimpse right at the Nebula and a Voca stereo, but those will get separate videos and we'll probably put out a pattern as well to help everybody get a good read. But today, house shot. 98% of everybody will bowl in a house shot at some point. So, whether they bowl league or whatever. So, yeah, man. Smells like a motor ball. But, uh, yeah, man. Jo best grips on the
market. Um and 12bagger shop 12bagger coolwick and if you're in South Florida get to a bolero tamarak and a bol pro shop they take care of me take care of you guys and bossmart all links below I know you guys want to check this out get more information go look at the tech specs use the links below get you right to it uh 10% off when you go pick up one of these jerseys straw hat uh this is you know if y'all little one piece fans um yeah get to the links all right so
Again, it's not much transition, so I don't know how far left we're going to be, but you come out of box, it's still I think it's like 4,000. None of their stuff, let's just low low end. Comes with polish. That hooked a lot more than I thought it would. That did. That hooked a lot more. I thought that was going to No, it it hooked. Okay, let me give her some room. I apologize. I apologize. I'm sorry. Sorry, Venom.
>> How dare I disrespect you? All right, I'm up 25. My normal spot. All right, there's the slow, right? So, we're typically seeing like Nebula dive off that like that one. Nice smooth. All right, we're going to call it 10 shots from here on out. And this so we get some gains on it or get some some time with it before we start shuffling around
that should be in a money zone. Oh my goodness. Y'all saw that. I like the shot, too. Oh, that's exactly where I needed to be. Continuation. Continue right past that bad boy. Definitely seem a little quicker than the regular Venom shot, man. Bro. All right. Much better. Much better. Much better. So, this is
okay. I think this strong stronger cover right is definitely giving us some more some more motion. I'm seeing a feel like even a little more pop than a regular Venom. And I got a regular Venom freshly drill with the exact same layout as well. So Oh, open hand. Oh, that ain't holding back. I was hoping that'll hold back a little bit. That did not. All right, man. Baby
hysteria. Like, chill out. You got to keep going. I have to really throw this bad boy. Oh, crumble. So, I definitely got to open up my angles a little bit more because of what I'm seeing again. And I think the regular Venom would have laid off, but this one is This definitely doesn't feel like the pink. It doesn't feel like the hyper the Hyper
Venom that came out. This feels This feels bigger, stronger. That was a good shot. Oh man. So after that shot, right, might be able to cheat, right? Moving to There's definitely some hang out there to the right, but I'm going still have to keep my angles like a little steeper because it might jack knife. So I'm going move again a little bit closer to 22.
See if we can find some of that that hang over there. There it goes. So, we're going to use that for a little bit and see again as this ball gets some oil on the cover. Hopefully, it gets us a little more push and keeps some hold. All
right, let's execute a couple shots. Definitely again just further left than it needed to be. Y'all saw the last shot. Like it made it right. A little light, but that made it. And you can work with that shot. So I got to repeat, repeat. There she goes. So definitely feel like that's in play until you break the lane down and it forces you further and further left. So
good motion. Ah, a little high. Yeah, this this ball's definitely a little stronger. Yeah, I probably tried to move a little far to the left, you know, to the right. I mean, and you're trying to force it in there to make it work, but it's it's invol charging off of it. And for me, typically, right, like I'm trying to, you know, maximize my area, find the
most amount of room so I have the most, you know, opportunities to strike. >> Yeah. Yeah. This was this ball straight business, man. straight business. Yeah, I know the Bionic has been doing some some numbers. I fully expect this to come out almost immediately, you know, out on the PBA tour and
locally. Yeah, this is it's just like that. It It gives It's giving me that vibe. So, I do got the hysteria and we're going to start jumping around. I'm going throw one more shot. But yeah, I'm I think this is going to be the shape for me, especially for Lee, that you need something that's cleaner, but not like as dirty as like a a Crown Victory
Pearl, right? Like this is definitely not as dramatic as that ball. Dramatic meaning left to right sharp. That's giving me some hold. 100% giving me some hold. Now, did I strike a bunch? No. But that's more of me on some execution. But definitely feel like if I can stay there, watch the lanes break down, this ball's going to come into
play, no problem. Oh, there she goes. All right. All right, that's what the ball should be looking like. So, let's go ahead and pick up the vocus area and we'll start going around and around. Then, if you want to see what this ball looks like on like a 40ft, you know, shot, it's going to be like 40, probably 41 or 40 ft.
a little bigger. Definitely a little more mid lane. So, we're going to try them off from right there and then we'll jump to the right. Try them off from right there. 25 24 inside of my use inside of my left foot to to measure. Again, I think it needs even more oil to
kind of kind of separate because both had the same cover stock. So, I think that's kind of dominating what we're seeing cuz I ain't see like a huge departure, but I know once friction is actually involved, typically the evoke, right, is going to look probably a smidge slower. I'm going to take a bigger step left with the evoke. See if we can't find a little more puddle.
carry. So, that looked again pretty smooth, which that ball can be that way, right? If you're facing some oil, the ball, as soon as you get a ball some friction, then you start seeing it do something. But I would still wouldn't call the Voceria like their most angular piece. I think it's just a really good piece that works on a lot of conditions. So, jump same chain spot. Getting getting a lot closer to 30 now,
bigger core, smaller core, and the Venom. Yeah, just deflected, right? Which makes some sense since we're already over here. Let's go to the Venom. The solid OG triple OG triple triple triple. Load it up here so you can see it a little longer. So again, a little bit earlier cover
moving to more oil. That one should work. A little more friction. Vent the steering should work. Let's try to bend them again over here. Slow the speed down a pinch. See what we get. That one definitely came out my hand better as well. Um, and they got it, you know. Yeah, but slowing the speed down, I think it's going to be really helpful when you need to move left, which yeah,
if you don't know, moving across the lane, being able to vary your speeds is going to help. If you're trying to swing the lane, throwing about 20 mph, unless like you, I don't know, cuz not many people can do that. Like typically the people who throw the ball the fastest are, you know, the straightest sometimes. All right, let's try the Nebula. Let's try a big nebula dog.
Yeah, Nebula is the Nebula. Nothing like the Nebula in the motive line at all. It's just not. So, I expected that. Move to the right. All right. So, I'm going to 15 control. One thing have always been is control.
you know, you need them to be more aggressive, adjust the surface, makes them a little bit earlier. But I still don't say like, oh, they're break neck, you know, go left pieces, but they're always in play. So, typically these are lifesaver bowling balls. Venom shock kind of the same spot. That's inside. Yeah. Little left. I still think that ball's going to hook regardless because
it just seeing it so much earlier opposed to the cleaner covers of these the others. Cleaner covers of the others. Boom. That one's definitely more solid in the pocket. And we going to cycle through all of them from here as well. That's a little left. Oh,
that held longer than I thought it would. But yeah, I'm not trying to throw any of these from right there. Probably not. You know, unless it's fresh and it just seems to be working, you know. Maybe somebody throwing urethane or something on a pair, you know, then I can use, you know, the regular Venom to combat that a little bit. Avoke.
So that's probably the biggest core, right? So it just again it works. Again, flattening my hand out a little bit more with that one where opposed to the two venoms, I'm still rotating the ball a little bit harder to make sure those pick up where that one a little bit flatter. Venom again. That's off the side. Oh yeah, try Nebula. Then we going to throw one
of each and then we going to wrap up. Going get out of here. Big Nebula. Probably one of their most successful releases or launches in a while. This Nebula, it just is what it is. Carry carry carry carry carry. But yeah, bad boy logos. The colors, it just pop it pops.
Adding a red to this opposed to going with the green of the Evoke is just good marketing. I think getting this venom is going to be a little still a little loop. Oh, a little loop. Little loop. And honestly, I think this going to be a really good one, two, one, two, three, four, honestly, cuz they all give you
something a little bit different, right? The strongest for like cover, right? the earliest that can handle probably the most oil steel is probably the Venom. And then you go to know something like this, which I probably can the N can handle the most angle, but this probably going to be the most versatile across the entirety of the lane. So again, that's probably going to be the most even
um on pressure oil versus transition. Like you going to get the most predictable motion out of it. Um I think you know the motor staff might have something else to say about that, but in my opinion like that evoke just kind of like the the venom like the visual shock like just works on a lot of stuff. Oh, almost fell. Yep. That's bad. That fell horribly. Let's redo that one.
So, Venom is probably the most even. It is, but I would probably say the evoke feels like a bigger Theoke feels like a bigger Venom. That just works on a lot, but then you get some friction, it will start to shape off of it pretty good. And then Nebula is the most angular of the bunch. So, I really didn't get that much like left to right. That was just left angle. Still pretty shallow. But, um, yeah, I
going to spend too much time with all the the reason why you guys are here. Um, it's out of box. I haven't done anything to it or or anything. And again, the ball the ball ball works. So, my some of my wrapping up thoughts, ball like this fits next to like a Crown Victory Pro. Um, this is not the most angular bowling ball in this segment, right? I feel like the Nebula, right, pairs next to this ball very nicely
because you need something with a little more shape, you can go to that one, something a little more controlled, that's cleaner, still works. Um, but it's definitely still feels more than the pink. The pink I feel like got really forward at times and I see a little more continuation out of this particular bowling ball. So in my opinion, kudos and two thumbs up from the new evoke. Yeah. So
good job. Good job. Good job. Hopefully you guys saw some things, helped you make some decisions whether you want to pick one up, whether you don't. Here you go. Appreciate you guys as always. Hopefully we learned a little bit what the hype was about today. Keep it moving up. You sleeping on me, just keep snoozing.
Performance Analysis
Performance Analysis
Testing on a house shot pattern revealed the Venom Hysteria to be a notably more angular and responsive ball compared to similar equipment in the same layout (30x4.5x30). Independent reviewers observed that when surfaced to 3,000 grit—down from the box finish of 4,000—the ball displayed significantly cleaner midlane motion with substantially more backend reaction than the Evoke Mayhem tested alongside it. The reactive pearl coverstock generated responsive, defined movement through the pattern, particularly when thrown from shallow angles. The ball demonstrated strong pin action and carry characteristics when thrown with proper execution, with reviewers noting it “out shapes” comparable equipment “by a country mile” when the shot is executed correctly.
The key distinction between the Venom Hysteria and smoother reactive equipment in the market is its timing and responsiveness. Where comparable balls hook earlier and maintain a smoother trajectory, the Venom Hysteria’s pearl cover allows it to stay cleaner through the midlane before engaging its backend reaction. Reviewers found this characteristic made the ball particularly valuable during transition phases of a house shot, when the pattern begins to break down and more angular motion becomes advantageous. Testing also indicated that the ball’s overall differential is substantial enough to reward precision in hand position and release—slightly shallower angles produced significantly better results than steeper angles, suggesting bowlers will benefit from understanding their release angles when adding this ball to their arsenal.
Surface adjustments proved important to unlocking the ball’s potential. The factory 4,000 finish produced adequate motion, but reducing to 3,000 grit noticeably increased traction and backend response without sacrificing midlane control. Reviewers did not test lower grits, suggesting that 3,000 represents an effective balance point for the intended medium oil condition. The ball’s symmetric core and pearl reactive coverstock combination proved reliable and forgiving across multiple shots, with consistent carry and minimal unpredictable motion.
Who Is This Ball For?
The Venom Hysteria is best suited for bowlers transitioning from earlier-hook equipment to something more angular, or for those specifically seeking a backend-heavy reaction on house shots during later frames. Bowlers who regularly bowl games two and three—when lane oil has broken down and they need more responsive, sharper motion—will find this ball fills that role effectively. One-handed bowlers, in particular, showed exceptional results with the equipment, though the ball’s characteristics should serve traditional two-handed bowlers equally well. At the $174.95 price point, it represents accessible entry into Motiv’s Venom line performance characteristics.
This ball demands more precision in execution than smoother alternatives, making it ideal for intermediate to advanced bowlers with developed release consistency and awareness of their angles and hand positions. Bowlers who struggle with inconsistent release angles may find the Venom Hysteria unforgiving, as testing showed significant performance variation between shallow and steep release angles. However, for bowlers who enjoy the challenge of precision equipment and benefit from the feedback of a more responsive ball, the Venom Hysteria offers excellent value and fills a specific, important slot in most competitive arsenals.
The Pros
- • Propulsion MXV Pearl at 5000 grit is a more responsive cover than the older MXR Pearl on the Hyper Venom
- • Same trusted Gear core provides the predictable foundation that made the Venom Shock legendary
- • Cleaner through the heads than any other ball in the Venom line with a more defined backend move
- • Bridges the gap between the Venom line's control and the Evoke line's angular motion
The Cons
- • Pearl coverstock will not handle heavy oil — this is a medium oil and transition ball only
- • The angular backend can show over/under tendencies on badly broken-down conditions

Coming from an exj jackal to the venom hysteria there is a definite difference in how the core reacts.this being my first symmetrical core, it’s noticeably smoother line start to finish than the jackal with may more back end movement. I enjoyed it. Looks great goind down lane and held up the first 3 games I shot. Lanes were burnt out so tougher to judge will need a few more games under its belt to fully get used to it. But shot my average with the first 3. Love motiv and love bowling keep em coming.
