Radical Deep Impact Review
Hybrid heavy oil muscle with backend finish. The Deep Impact reads the mids with authority at $194.95. Video reviews inside.
The plus generally means something to smooth it out. He likes doing that on the hybrids, that's for sure. Oh, Carrie messengers on this channel. What's up, guys? Brunick's back. It's time to introduce the Radical Deep Impact. Now, the Deep Impact has that torpedo asymmetrical core wrapped with HK22 Cohesion Plus hybrid. Can't wait to
see what this one does on the lanes for me with Spectto running of course. But before we get to all that, please subscribe to my channel if you haven't already. Now, let's see Radical Deep Impact out on the lanes. All right, Radical fans, we got another innovative Radical release. Never been done before. deep impact. So, let's talk about this ball. What's new about it? What's old? Starting with that core. That core looks familiar with that torpedo asymmetric core, RG2.48
differential 052 with an intermediate of 019. And it's all wrapped with the HK22 Cohesion Plus hybrid. What's the plus mean, Phil? You got to tell us exactly what's in the cover. Down to the last molecule, please. All proprietary information, please let us know. It's finished with 500 2,000 grit. And in the past, when the cover stock has said plus, it generally means it has some stuff to grip the lane a little sooner, make it a little bit more controllable.
But we're going to see what all that is about today. Bullet on crown jewel. My favorite house shot. Your favorite house shot. 43 ft. Puddle in the middle. No puddle outside. Got specto running. We're going to get right into this review. We're going to start it out. move it in and see what Deep Impact is all about. And the colors are sweet. Three colors. Looks like red, a little bit of purple, bluish purple, magenta. It's got a lot going for it here. All
right, starting on 15. Let's try it. Hook. Carry that. Come on. Look at these new pins. that first shot out of the gate. Never know how I'm gonna do it. It's usually a hook and chuck. Pray that it comes off my hand clean. And I got the hook and chuck right. Did not get the hand clean part. That usually takes two or three shots, right?
Let's try it again. I don't have to huck and chuck it that hard, I guess. There it comes. Huh. Okay. Yeah. Started up fairly early. But what ball doesn't start up fairly early when I'm trying to play him in this zone? People always ask, "Well, why don't you play him straight?" It's like, I literally can't. I really can't. There's so much dry to the outside. And that's how a lot of the house shots
out there are. You set it down out there, it wants to hook. All right, one more shot here. Got to at least try to strike. I mean, I am trying to strike, but throw it harder. Yes, there we go. Yeah, it takes a lot of effort to get that ball to resist hooking and to get it on the right side of the pocket. So, all right, first zone's down. I don't know really know
how much we learned from this first zone. You know, it's kind of been one of those things where the weaker balls with less surface can generally play that. You know, I think danger zones are all right there. Outer limits, black hole is good there, but something with surface. Let's get out of that zone. Let's move five into 20 now. Little bit of swing. I'm going to keep that speed up. Now we're in business.
Oh, got it out. All right, I can keep the speed down. It's amazing when you get a little bit of oil in the cover. When you play it at a launch angle, that allows you to cover more boards and oil. It resists the hooking. And now we're starting to see what this ball actually does. And so for that first shot, 10pin playing not that much angle, flaring a ton, tells me that we got probably a little bit slower response cover on here. So, first indication was,
yeah, the plus generally means something to smooth it out. He likes doing that on the hybrids, that's for sure. Oh, Carrie messengers on this channel. It's a lane one. Maybe I'm just going to bowl on lane one forever. That's awesome. Obviously, what I'm
seeing with ball motion now, all pin action aside, is this ball wants to roll a little bit more forward. It's a lot smoother. Using a lot more energy in the mid, not really having that boomerang back in. And that's okay. We don't want every ball to be the same. We need some balls to blend out patterns. So, knowing that, I know that I can probably get around the side of side around I can probably get around the side of it more with this ball and
not worry about it jumping like that. You just got to flick it. You know, I say yo-yo release like no, you got to flick it. Flick it. That's it. You get around the side of it more. you get that ball to tip harder and get through the pins better. Now, I like the fact that I can carry messengers, but ultimately I'm trying to split the 89 every shot. That's my goal. That should be your
goal, too. When it deviates off that, either way, when it goes too far over the eight pin if you're righty or if it deflects into the nine, you have to make some adjustments. I'm going to make an adjustment. I'm going to go into 25 now. Five more boards left and I am going to stick with the the program here of moderate speed more around the side of it. It's got a lot of boards to cover.
Okay, I leaked that one out. Right. Sometimes when I open up the angles and get around the side of it, I have a tendency to Olay. Ole to the right. That's what happens. But the ball recovered. Got that light mixer sent pins all up and down the left side in the air. Let's do it again. But now let's be a little bit more reasonable with how far I'm getting this ball to
the right. Better. Boom. This ball carves him up. Whenever you see that headpin, always watch. When you see that headpin go on its side and go straight back, you know you came in and carved at the right angle. The ball's still hooking in the back going through the pins. Like the pins are not even there. Flare. Crazy flare. Of course, those numbers jump up quite a bit with that torpedo asymmetric core. One more
shot here. This is probably going to be my favorite zone. I have a feeling when I move in left, I don't know. I think I might tenpin some more or I might messenger. I don't know. It's got a hook. Yeah. See, it's starting to come. If I just miss it a bit, leak it out. Still kick the tent out, but if I go away from the pocket too much, it has a little bit of a hard time to get back there. The
second shot was amazing there because I kept it in. Got around the side of it perfect. hit that right spot. So, let's move another five. Let's get in a 30 now. See what happens. See if I'm right. See if Nick Stradamus is right with his innovative new bowling ball. Never been done. Oh, that's a great shot. Yeah,
it didn't feel like I was open more angle. It felt like that ball knew exactly where it wanted to go from when I let it go. Saw it read the mid and come off the spot hard. It did everything right. So, so far I'm wrong. I thought this ball would get lazy. It didn't get lazy. Maybe just a little bit less speed. And that same good rotation around the side was just what the doctor ordered. Phil invected Phil invented doctor's orders, by the
way. Oh, that's going hooking through the face. Can't do it. Can't go through the face. Ball just kind of sets up and does it like that was in probably a board or two compared to the last one. I thought it was going to go through the face. I thought it was going to jump. But it just blends it out. Doesn't overreact. Doesn't over respond. Still saves more of that energy for the back. So, this is a controlled piece, but it still has some pop on the back. One more shot
here. This flying by strikes so much. And the colors really do blend down lane. Like there's no wild contrasting colors here. That's strike. Get out of my face. four pin. Well, like I always like to say with a four pin, that's good news going into the next zone, the last zone that we're
going to test that 35 because that tells me that it still has a lot left in the tank, especially on the back end where when I open up my angles and play that same kind of tempo, same zone, or not zone, but different zone, but that same tempo rotation should be fine. There we go. 35 now. Last zone. But I like that 25 zone the best so far.
There it is. That train's never late. Yeah, I think for right now, the way the lanes are, fresh oil, that it's just too smooth to be playing that far of open angles. I think when you get bowling balls that have covers that are inherently maybe a little bit slower to respond, you want to tighten up those angles. You don't want to open them up too much. Let's try another one here. Cuz if I got to slow down and play that zone, I don't
know how that's going to work. Let me try. I missed it at the bottom. Yeah, but I feel like I missed it, but it probably rolled off clean. See, when you're in that pocket zone where you wrap 10 and then you for pin and you miss it a little bit, your feet are just in the wrong spot. It's just not it. When you find yourself having to fight it that much, just move
your feet. Get out of there. Come on. I got to strike once here. I want to send it wide with a slower speed. Well, that didn't do it. 49. Yeah, not it. So, and that's okay. This ball thrives on a little bit straighter angles. Still need a little oil in the front to carry it through the front. So, we're going to go back to 25. I want to
get my speed up. I want to not have to like get on the side of it that much. And watch what this ball does when I tighten them back up. I think it's more ideal what we want. More speed, straighter angles. This is a ball that kind of blends them out, gets you out of out of trouble early in a tournament or league. I'm back to splitting the 89. So, yeah, it's every bowling bow I test is a
puzzle. I'm trying to figure out where it fits. what piece, where, when I think it's going to be best. That's what I learned on these reviews, and I hope you learn along with me. But that's all for the Radical Deep Impact innovative new launch from Radical Torpedo asymmetric core HK22 Cohesion Plus Hybrid. And that's it. Please subscribe. Appreciate all your support. Performance Analysis
Performance Analysis
Testing revealed the Radical Deep Impact as a controlled, mid-lane-friendly piece designed for bowlers who value smooth energy management over aggressive backend reaction. On a 43-foot house shot with fresh oil conditions, independent reviewers observed that the HK22 Cohesion Plus hybrid coverstock lives up to its âPlusâ designationâdelivering earlier traction and more predictable motion through the midlane compared to standard hybrid formulations. The torpedo asymmetric core (RG 2.48, differential .052) generates significant track flare, but the coverstockâs moderate response characteristics prevent overreaction, allowing the ball to blend out pattern transitions rather than jumping lanes aggressively. Testing showed the ball performed strongest when played between the 20-30 board range with moderate speed and controlled angles, where it consistently read the midlane, set up cleanly, and finished with controlled backend motion suitable for mixed oil patterns.
The key insight from lane testing was the ballâs preference for straighter angles with maintained speed rather than aggressive hook angles from the outside. When reviewers attempted wider launch angles at slower speeds in the 30-35 board range, the Deep Impactâs smoother coverstock response required tighter trajectory control to avoid leaving corner pins. Conversely, moving back to 20-25 boards with increased speed and a flick-style release produced predictable, powerful strike action. This characteristicâresisting the urge to overreact early while maintaining backend energyâmakes the Deep Impact particularly valuable in transition periods when oil patterns begin to break down, as it wonât overcommit to the dry boards too early.
Who Is This Ball For?
The Radical Deep Impact is ideally suited for league and tournament bowlers who bowl medium to heavy oil conditions and value consistency over volatility. This ball works best for players with moderate to higher rev rates who want a piece that wonât punish minor angle adjustments or speed variations. Itâs an excellent choice for bowlers transitioning from entry-level reactive equipment, as the controlled midlane response provides a forgiving platform to develop footwork and angle control without excessive backend surprises. The Deep Impact also appeals to bowlers in mixed-condition houses where oil patterns shift throughout league nightâits smooth, blending characteristics prevent the ball from becoming unplayable as lanes transition.
Bowlers should note this is not an aggressive angular motion ball; it wonât win a fight with heavily oiled backends or create dramatic pin action through extreme hook. Instead, it rewards technical execution and line precision. If your style emphasizes controlled angles, consistent speed, and predictable reads, the Deep Impactâs $194.95 price point offers solid performance value. Conversely, bowlers seeking aggressive backend motion or those who prefer to play straighter lines with minimal midlane read should explore more angular asymmetric options.

The HypeVerified Bowler Reviews (2 reviews, 5.0/5 avg)
Deep impact I recently punched up this ball. My layout choice is 45 x 4 1/2 x 35. My ball speed is around 14.0 mph. My Rev rate is around 275 rpms. This layout is close to layout B on the Radical bowling technologies suggest layout. With the factory finish and my ball speed it was a little strong for my house shot pattern. I took the ball surface to 3000 grit. I was to use it on my house pattern. It has great continuous through the pins. It allows me to move a little deeper inside and still recovers. I think it is a great addition to the Radical bowling technologies line. Thanks, Robert Way
