Roto Grip Hustle Camo Review
While no longer in production, the Roto Grip Hustle Camo remains a solid option on the used market for bowlers seeking predictable, controlled ball motion on lighter oil conditions.
what's going on guys welcome back to the channel now i know you guys can't see that but there's actually a bowling ball here it's just camouflage so that was wow that was very cringy but we're gonna keep it so welcome back to the channel today i'm gonna be reviewing the hustle camo now i know i'm super late to this hustle party but i loved the electrify solid and my buddy luke which i'll leave a link to his channel down below in the description if you guys haven't checked out his channel i highly suggest you check it out he told me that if i like the electrify solid i have to have to try this hustle
camo because it's supposedly going to blow my mind so today we're going to do half the video on a fresh typical house shot and the other half of the video on a burnt up house shot that i just got done reviewing the wolverine with surface so that lane should be nice and toasty for one of these lower performance shiny balls so let's get into some of the tech behind this roto grip hustle camo so it features the hustle core which in 15 pounds has an rg of 2.53 and a max differential of 0.030 and then it features the vtc solid reactive cover
stock that comes out of box at a 1 500 grit polished finish so this is going to be very similar to that electrify solid that it's a solid ball that comes with polish so down below in the description there's going to be a link where you can order your very own hustle camo or literally anything bowling related it is the absolute best way to help support the channel you guys know i'm trying to do this full time so that that is one of the best ways to help support me and i cannot do this without you guys and then if you like this coolwick fire honeycomb jersey you can go to coolwick.com and
use my promo code motiveloot10 and that'll get you 10 off your entire order and then let me know down below in the comments if you guys have this hustle camo or if you've had any of the other hustles because i know there's been a ton of them and let me know which one is your favorite and why and then the layout as always because of the symmetrical ball i drilled it 50 by four and a half by thirty so i'm going to take you guys out on the lanes now we're gonna start on the fresh house shop first so let's get on the lanes all right first shot here with the hustle camo a lot of hype to live up to because i love that electrify solid
hook oh luke you were right dude this left a little bit yeah it did not give up yeah so this vtc solid seems way stronger than the reactor solid
so uh poor electrify solid because i like weaker balls with stronger covers and the electrify solid the v the reactor solid cover on that was a little bit too clean for me on the fresh and too weak unless there was a lot a lot of transition on the lanes like to really get left and shape it five shots in with this hustle camo and i'm probably going to retire the electrify solid i'm going to get back on
the lanes and make make a pretty large move because i'm only going to throw a few shots on the fresh before we get on the burn so i'm going to make a larger move than normal so we can see what this ball is all about on the fresh so let's get back to it this is gonna be about six or seven boards left here create a little bit more angle see if this thing can handle it wow holy this ball has no idea it's in the 90
price point give me that seven oh oh you're still getting a couple more messengers because that was pretty pretty nice oh
so with the polish if i have to get left it's it's too too too long so i'm going to try to shut my angle down here a little bit that should be really good also i think that on the fresh if i have to get in like i did in this group it's going to be a it's going to be a no for me dog and the reason is because there's a lot of oil in the middle part of the lane so if i shoot it right
it's not enough core not enough cover not enough anything to get it to really face and go through the pins the right way i shot two messengers over one connector one didn't but that's not really conducive to really good ball reaction and then when i tried to shut it down shut down my angles a little bit i executed a very good shot but there's too much volume in the middle it kind of just scooted forever so i'm actually going to move back right and show you guys how good it looks on the fresh from a little bit straighter when i can be closer to the friction so i'm going to go back i'm going to move five back right to where i started this
video and show you guys a couple really good shots before we get on that burn lane let's get back on it all right here's back to where i started i think it looks way better from here way way better oh that was a good one just gonna move my eyes a little bit closer to me here
that'll be really good i'm actually gonna move one right here just to see i'm gonna move that one back left because i think that looks a little bit better oh definitely better yeah so this ball on the fresh its absolute best friend is going to be
straighter angles playing closer to the friction i went 8 for 10 from a little bit straighter and was in the pocket pretty much the entire time when i got left and tried to create more shape it's a little too long wanted to come behind the head pin and then you're really relying on that messenger to connect which you don't really want to be doing that so now we're going to get on to lane one like i said is the burn lane i filmed a i filmed the surface video with the wolverine on that lane so it should be nice and toasty because i hit that ball with a 2 000 pad the wolverine
and filmed an entire video on it so it should be nice and toasty i'm going to start left of where anywhere that i was on the fresh lane and we're going to see if it's too weak of a ball to come around the corner then i'll move back right a little bit but i really want to see what it looks like from a little bit further left on the burn so let's get on lane one and see what it looks like all right first shot here on the burn with the hustle camo let's see how this looks like here
oh baby that didn't look too bad let's see if i can repeat that maybe get a little softer oh that's going to be good so it's nice to know that if i miss right it has some recovery kind of like that
all right so hear me out on this a bowling ball that's this versatile meaning on the fresh i can play right on top of the friction keep the ball in front of me or on the burn when i have to get left and create a lot of shape a ball like that has no business being 89.99 i mean it is like guys the descript there's a link in the description where you can order one of these if you're looking for a cheap versatile piece
this is going to be i think a really good ball for people who this is maybe their first ball or they don't have like an entire arsenal and they kind of need something that's can cover a whole lot of facets i think this is going to be a really good option for that now i'm not saying that this is like the greatest ball ever i'm i'm wholeheartedly not saying that because if there was enough volume if the volume was higher a ball like this would have no chance i'm bowling on a very high friction environment where the volume isn't that high so it's going to look good so now we're going to get back on lane 1 which
will put me into 35 with my feet which is normally where my zone 3 versatility test is and then after that i'm gonna move way right to where i was on lane two to see if that still looks half decent on the burn also so let's get back on the lanes all right let's see how this looks here i'm pretty far left here all right so just gonna try to create a little bit more angle here
oh yeah it's there we go so that in between zone is where it looked really really good so i'm gonna try to repeat that and then i miss right by a mile that's so funny all right so let's try to throw that same last shot but not miss a mile right
yeah so what i got to get really really far left and send the ball to the right it's too weak of a core two week of a cover i need something a little bit stronger like maybe a high road pearl even like an iq emerald i think would look really good from that part of the lane but when i shut my angles down it was definitely strong enough to read the front part of the lane and still tip to go through the pins so now i'm going to move back right to where i started on lane two so i'm gonna
be my feet are gonna be somewhere around 20 and keep the ball nicer in front of me and if this looks good on the burn lane it's going to be well one a very very good thing but be very surprising and then see it's going to be very telling of how versatile this ball is because this could end up being one of those balls that you start with from a little bit straighter and just parked there all night and if you can find a ball like that for you and your arsenal that's going to be a phenomenal phenomenal thing i don't know if this is going to be that ball but if you find a ball like
that it's a very very good thing so let's get back on the lanes we're going to be on lane one a little bit straighter hopefully it looks pretty good i first started here from a little bit straighter on the burn lane this is going to be where we're going to see if this ball is just a good ball or a great ball all right so i'm going to try that same shot but i'm going to move my eyes right a little bit
oh give me that so that went a little high but it's nice to know that there is some bump to the right [Music] oh that was hilarious so now we got to end it on a on a 10 backer here
there we go all right so i got the first five this game so i'm just going to keep going until i don't strike six baby all right looking for the front seven here looks good all right so i got the front seven
looking for the front eight now oh give me that all right so now i got the front eight looking for the front nine oh i missed right a little bit oh come on i got the front nine looking for the front ten
oh god let's go all right got the front 10. looking for the front 11 now oh i missed in oh come on all right front 11 looking for 300 actually very nervous here oh that looks pretty good oh
298. not kidding you guys there look at that 298. oh guys guys guys that broke my heart so the that part of the video started with how does it look like from a little bit straighter on the burn and i started that on a brand new game and i had the first five and i said i'm just gonna keep going until i don't strike and i got to the front 11
and threw one you know i i looked at the video it was super slow and it hooked but along the way i had a bunch of really really lucky shots but the thing thanks man but the thing that i can take away from that is that on the burn from a little bit straighter it still looks really really really good and man i wish i would have shot 300 because i haven't shot 300 in a while and doing it on a video with all 12 shots would have been fantastic
so guys let me know if you like this hustle camo and if you'd like to see me compare it to the electrify solid and then if you're gonna order one based on my recommendation or based on what you see in the video there's gonna be a link in the description use that link to order this ball it is a direct way to help support the channel and help support me like i keep telling you guys i want to do this full-time that is my goal my goal is to be a full-time youtuber so that i can spend time with my family and i cannot do that without you guys so please guys help support me in any way you can click

Performance Analysis
Performance Analysis
Testing revealed the Hustle Camo delivers impressive versatility across different oil conditions, though with distinct playing zones. On fresh house shot conditions, the ball performed best when played straighter with angles closer to the friction, where independent reviewers achieved 8 of 10 strikes from a direct line. When testers attempted to create excessive angle and shape on the fresh pattern, the polished VTC solid coverstock proved too length-dominant, causing the ball to skid through the midlane and struggle to face the pins cleanly. The symmetric core generated measurable reaction, but the reviewers noted the cover needed proximity to friction to read the lanes effectively.
On heavily burned, high-friction conditions, the Hustle Camo transformed into a more angular ball capable of strong backend motion. Testers successfully moved the breakpoint left and generated adequate shape when starting from steeper angles on the burn pattern. When played from straighter positioning on the burned lanes—the same zones where it excelled on fresh oil—the ball maintained strong consistency through the pin deck. The testing showed this ball occupies a unique middle ground: it won’t overpower heavily oiled sport patterns, but it delivers surprising continuity and reaction strength for a ball in the $89.99 price category.
The 1500-grit polished finish proved to be the defining characteristic. Testers observed that moving to different surface preparations could expand the ball’s versatility, suggesting that bowlers facing higher-volume oil patterns might benefit from dulling the coverstock. The ball’s greatest strength emerged as shot execution and angle management—precision yielded consistency, while aggressive play patterns exposed the ball’s core limitations.
Who Is This Ball For?
The Hustle Camo is an excellent choice for bowlers building their first complete arsenal or those seeking a dependable midrange piece without premium pricing. The ball’s ability to handle both fresh and heavily burned lanes from appropriate angles makes it particularly valuable for house bowlers who encounter varying conditions throughout league nights. Its straightforward motion and predictable reaction shape reward solid fundamentals and controlled execution, making it ideal for bowlers still refining their technique.
This ball also suits experienced bowlers looking for a versatile spare or secondary strike ball at an accessible price point. The testing demonstrated that bowlers playing relatively straight lines with controlled angles—rather than those seeking extreme motion and aggression—will see the Hustle Camo’s full potential. Those regularly facing high-volume oil patterns or preferring stronger angular reaction may need to explore higher-performance or pearl-coverstock options to match their specific lane environment.
The Pros
- • Excellent control and predictability
- • Great for dry to medium oil conditions
- • Smooth, controllable motion
The Cons
- • Limited hook potential on heavier oil
- • May struggle with carry on challenging patterns

Bowlers Say
Bowlers praise the Hustle Camo as an exceptional value ball that provides clean length through the fronts with a smooth, continuous backend reaction. Many compare it favorably to the discontinued Hustle Ink, noting it works well on medium to dry oil conditions and serves as an effective transition ball when higher-end equipment becomes too strong. The polished VTC solid coverstock delivers more length than the sanded PBR.

Bowlers frequently mention:
The New Hustle Camo is the newest "solid" ball in the HP1 line. The Hustle Camo brings back the VTC solid reactive Coverstock to bring the ball more durability and more performance down lane as seen in previous Hustle line balls. The new army/black/brown color gives respect to our service men and women. These colors will definitely pop out for those who are a veteran or currently serving our country. The layout I gave on this was 3 3/8 x 70 to give this ball earlier motion on the lanes then the 4 x 35 drilling currently on my Hustle PBR. This ball can be great for fresh house patterns or tournaments with shorter oil or less volume patterns. The 1500 polish finish on this Camo is different from the 3000 abralon finish on the PBR. This surface difference will give the ball a little more length while adding slightly more pop down lane than the PBR. Removing the polish or adding more surface to the coverstock will enhance its more earlier rolling nature if you want it to handle more oil. Adam Chase Storm Staff

The new Roto Grip Hustle Camo features the VTC Solid Reactive Coverstock wrapped around the Hustle Core! The new Hustle Camo comes out of the box with 1500 Polished which is the same combination used in the famous Hustle Ink! My Hustle Camo is drilled with my normal pin over my bridge layout with the cg kicked! This ball for me fits the gap between the Hustle PBR and the Hustle RAP AMAZING!!!! With the camo being a solid coverstock but a polished coverstock is will be a clean motion through the front part of the lane but roll like a PBR on the backend with a little more continuous motion due to the polish! This Hustle Camo is a big BANG FOR YOUR BUCK!!! Head over to your local pro shop and get the best entry level ball on the market today!

The Hustle line has been a staple in Roto Grip’s arsenal for a few years one. Hustle core has an RG of 2.53 and Diff of 0.030 and is a cool looking Army/Black/Brown color giving it the Camo look it’s called. It is the solid shinny version of the VTC cover. I drilled mine 6 x 5.5 x 2 and my purpose behind this was to give me a higher RG layout on a ball I intend to use on shorter patterns after the lanes transition from urethane. After throwing is ball for a little while I was quite impressed. I was able to move in on a shorter pattern and throw it towards the gutter and it never overrated. It was clean through the front part of the lane but pretty smooth on the back. I will be able use this ball mostly on shorter patterns after urethane is exhausted and maybe on some medium length patterns that don’t have a ton of volume to them.

The Hustle Camo is a great addition to the weaker side of your arsenal. This ball reminds me of a shiny, slightly weaker Hustle PBR. The core has an RG of 2.53 and a differential of 0.030, wrapped in a polished solid coverstock. I bowled in a tournament last Sunday and the Camo was the perfect ball choice once the UFO Alert started leaving a lot of corner pins. I am a big fan of more rounded motions, and this ball fits in that category very well. The Hustle Camo is a step above the Tropical Surge line and will give you way more mid lane traction. You can't go wrong with this ball for the price that it is at. You will be very happy with how the Camo performs on drier lane conditions and even more volume with the help of an abralon pad. Just your normal league, tournament here & there guy. Avg 180. 17yr Veteran, bought this ball, very strong out of the box, after about 4 games, ball started to break in, hook was more controlled & won't take off on the back. Ball has good length. I set my ball up to be more angular to try & max out as much length as possible. This will end up being my go to ball on league night. Performs consistent on fresh & dry oil. It compliments my arsenal. RG UFO, RG Grenade, RG Critical Theory, Storm Phaze III.
