Motiv Max Thrill Hybrid Review
Punches way above its $129.95 price point. Mid-performance motion at entry-level pricing — this is NOT an entry level ball. Video reviews inside.
don't want to change me want to change got no regrets I'm on the run chasing the check dropping the top riding the vet feeling myself what you expect you know I'm with it no better feeling cuz I could have quit but I [Music] didn't what's going on YouTube World Charles hudon here and today man we checking out this might be my favorite release of the year right like if you pay attention to the channel I mentioned the max drill series like thr and
through a ton and now we have a hybrid version I've only throw a handful of shots L on shark I might throw a couple shots in there so y'all can see it hook a little bit on shark man and it was it's kind of wild to see but yeah man this particular series is supposed to be a little bit stronger right than the last year's and yes like more performance and if you haven't checked out one you're Wilding just telling you you don't like motive telling you give these Max Thrills a go and throw a m a Venom shock in there and then a pride Liberty and AOK stereo
actually there's a lot of bowling balls for you to try honestly it is so but the colors man these colors are just money like they just are and oh the tape on the wrist man man motive they have some EXO Flex which is know kinesiology tape and again it works copper infus so it's actually an extra little layer of the therapeutic this and so throughout the course of like next
several videos you'll be able to see this and they have a abundance of tapes that you can use um again good stuff like literally especially if you're a motive person makes sense get the motive tape and if you're not a motive person you still get this cuz it got copper infused in it but yeah so we going to check out I drilled a fresh uh Max real pearl I threw this ball a ton so I got a second one and same layout nothing different pin up you know a little bit over my ring finger 60 by 4X 30 um again Bell
out ball I said a Max drill solid then also for a hybrid because this is a hybrid the max drill hybrid is the pride Liberty which is probably by far one of my favorite hybrids this and ion Pro those two um but yeah let's let's get to the lanes I did a lot of talking I know y'all yall over it now so let's get to the L guys so this is a slightly used house shot so should be a a little bit of hook
out here I could be wrong but let's [Music] see oh yeah that ball stupid good stupid and I will pick up again the other two balls and I think the max real solid does come out a box shiny I didn't restore that I typically use it with a little bit of surface so that's how we're going to look at it today and then the max 3 Pro does have
polish it's brand new I haven't done anything to it yeah I'm currently yeah standing on 25 and I drift about five boards left every shot so I'm standing on 25 I'm probably end up closer to 30 at the foul line that held pretty good for missing as far in as I just did try to throw to the ditch see a little
pop so I don't know if this is going to be more aggressive down Lane than a pearl so we'll have to find that out together I can play in my happy place no problem so I'm going jump a little more on top of it flatting the wrist out a little bit Ah so I can give it a little more help I took like all of my hand out of it all right so again I'm currently
standing on 15 I'm probably get a little bit closer to 20 at the foul line it you saw it pick up like it's a ball that's again seeing I'm close to the friction and it's reading it um and it didn't lay off much I didn't really expect it to all I'm going try to get one I want to get one in the pocket a little more higher
flush I can't win I can't win from there this ball looks really really good like really really good try one more then we're going to move [Music] on yeah so for me that just works the best when I'm trying to manipulate the ball so much if there's a lot more value standing right is a lot easier I don't have to change my hand so
much so let's start a brand new Pearl wel home baby yeah I threw the last one a lot so a fresh one is it was ready so 25 and I'm going to throw a couple shots back back to back with this in a hybrid oh that definitely look weaker that looks like way cleaner and not as much
off the spot let me give it a second to wake up just a little bit of a second because let still one I'mma move right I'm going go to 20 the last shot was on [Music] 25 that was like a good foot cleaner before it really picked up and got to a roll y saw it go through the pins like that just that struck like with
authority but again it just I had to be more on top of it and that was just interesting to see all right there we go so I still that shot that last shot was a little bit in I feel like when I missed in with this thr hybrid right it left me you know the 6 610 like The Pearl
set so we're definitely seeing a stronger cover combination here oh that's all the way out there oh and that came back not as much Authority but I threw it like again just really wide
all right so that was again in play no [Music] problem so again just a little bit lighter Shaker Shaker look yeah not horrible but this definitely gives me yeah I'm ball down ball down from the hybrid I can go start with the hybrid then work my way to the Pearl as a Comber cleaner
let's throw this one one more time oh both both a little faster but yeah still think that one's going to be a little bit earlier and I think over time again we'll see the Pearl still flip a little bit more because it's a cleaner cover stock uh on a more broken down condition [Music]
so so now we got the max real solid my baby so definitely get right this is my control option and it it does it like I don't care what's out there what pattern short long it's almost like a a Venom shock I guess a slightly yeah modified
version I should be able to get much much closer to this frent and this Sol is going to just kind of Arc off of it yep more of a Ary piece so if I you definitely have all three in the bag in my opinion this being the smoothest and honestly kind of
Max drill Pro being like the next smoothest we're talking about dealing with oil because the earliest and the most traction I do feel like the hybrid is going to give us that and it's going to allow us to open the lanes up the quickest of the three oh kick them around again to the right ain't been my friend today so we're not going to spend a ton of time trying to force these balls over there in that real but I'mma pick up the
hybrid one each from 25 back to back just got to see it 25 happy place yeah smooth Arc it's what it is this is like the the little big brother you know this the youngest of the line oh jeez hook a lot oh
wow yeah I threw that terribly terribly people people people people please still a good shot there we go all right now let's pick up one of my favorites that good old PRI Liberty all right PRI Liberty same
spot yeah has a little more service on it uh still like still like 4,000 in but like worked it all the way had to like reservice this ball yeah another ball I thrown a lot Max and PR Liberty put some games on them all right throw one more yeah this is Big Dog yeah so this is the big bro of this
group and I it can handle the most amount of oil versus these three this is definitely a tear up move a little right so I just pick up and go no all right so I'm going to step in that same spot with the maxo hybrid let's see what it does it should push a lot more for obvious reasons
a lot easier down the lane yeah still came a little high but the point of you know surface and again overall core numbers matter and they make this ball the PRI Liberty much earlier and these are a combination literally all four of these are balls I feel very confident especially any house shot I can take all 30 to a house shot tournament and honestly feel like I have all my bases covered like outside of a spar
ball so boom and I think I have the PRI Liberty is going to be at least a good four boards to the left to be that optimal zone so I'm going to go to for 20 22 22 26 now I think we should be in the pocket I got to get it a little bit
further might be about five six yeah it's pretty significant here so I know for a game with this one it's good I I kind of already know it you know the ball that everybody wants this to see and that's the hysteria and I might just do a game those balls are
again they're not the same uh it's the stairs are tear up but with this coming out I want get out a separate video so we can just focus on those two so we just going to throw five right here whatever happens happens So based on what I was just seeing stay in just like 23 24 air with my feet bang bang
Bango second shot hook hook hook a lot of Hook saw a little bit of deflection there just a wee bit lost it a little bit yeah
buddy some folks like always tell me like oh a lot of the motor stuff just matches up they're not wrong they're not wrong again a lot of it matches up again it's something I can see like it's very predictable shapes but you're not losing the energy down Lane off my side hey [Music]
bang looking good looking good let's go one more oh I left a t pin we've been grooving that ball is nice and fun hopefully you guys check it out Max thr hybrid I want to go get this one in the bag bro I'm telling you Universal whether you're two-handed whether you're a straight or bowler um the price point the price point matters and yeah motor St is typically I think like 10 bucks more but
I feel like you're getting a lot of performance these cover up that little mid tier to even know cleaner symmetrics like you get all three pick pick your your layouts you can go weaker you can go stronger and these balls will respond to that so yeah I'm a Believer again I haven't heard anybody say I got a maxill and it was horrible hav't happened so again get to bart.com they got you covered if you want some of the exclusive merch get over to cool wig.com they have the
t-shirts man you may be not maybe not a jersey person they got four different colors I think up there currently I just have the big again signature hype hype logo um but yeah a lot of talking until next time man more videos on the way I'm keep it moving the music up I'm keep you sleeping on me keep I'm so locked in right now everything I work for Never Going change everything I pray for
Performance Analysis
Performance Analysis
Independent testing revealed the Motiv Max Thrill Hybrid to be a notably stronger performer than its solid counterpart, delivering earlier traction and a more aggressive midlane read on house shot conditions. When tested back-to-back against the Max Thrill Pearl and Max Thrill Solid on a slightly broken-down house pattern, the Hybrid coverstock combination generated noticeably more friction off the dry boards, requiring adjusters to play further right to find the optimal zone—approximately 4–6 boards left of the Pearl’s reaction. The ball demonstrated consistent pin carry and authority through the pocket, even on slightly off-target shots, and showed predictable motion characteristics across multiple shot attempts without requiring dramatic surface adjustments.
Comparative testing positioned the Max Thrill Hybrid as the earliest reading option within the Max Thrill lineup. Where the Pearl required bowlers to be “more on top of it” to generate the same backend reaction, the Hybrid delivered quicker hook engagement closer to the friction, making it easier for bowlers to open up their angles without excessive hand manipulation. The Solid remained the smoothest control option across varying oil patterns, while the Hybrid carved out clear middle ground—more aggressive than the Solid but more manageable than typical heavy-oil equipment. Testing also confirmed strong compatibility with the hybrid’s symmetric core design, which responded predictably to layout changes and hand adjustments, suggesting versatility for different release styles.
One notable observation from testing was the Hybrid’s behavior when missing in—it left pickup leaves like the 6-10 split more frequently than the Pearl, indicating the stronger cover does generate earlier deflection. This characteristic actually benefits medium-oil bowlers by forcing better shot execution rather than allowing sloppy angles to survive on backend. The ball maintained strong energy and pin action throughout extended testing sessions, with no degradation in performance as the pattern transitioned.
Who Is This Ball For?
The Max Thrill Hybrid is ideally suited for house league and tournament bowlers throwing in medium to medium-light oil conditions who want a step up in hook potential without moving into heavy-oil territory. This ball works especially well for bowlers who already own the Max Thrill Solid and want a second option with more aggression—the Hybrid fills that gap efficiently. The $129.95 price point makes it accessible for bowlers building a four-ball arsenal or those upgrading from entry-level equipment.
The Hybrid also serves bowlers who prefer predictable, readable ball motion and don’t want to chase constantly changing angles. Straight-arm bowlers and two-handed releases benefit from the symmetric core’s consistency, while conventional bowlers will appreciate the earlier read without needing advanced hand positions. For competitive bowlers managing house conditions from fresh to moderately broken down, the Max Thrill Hybrid offers confidence across shot-making scenarios—versatile enough to handle line adjustments without requiring a ball change mid-match.
The Pros

- • Hybrid coverstock handles more conditions than solid or pearl alone
- • NOT an entry level ball despite the price
The Cons
- • Lighter hooking than mid-performance options
- • Halogen core is conservative for higher rev players

Bowlers frequently mention:
When placing an order, it asks if I have a special request. I asked for a high 13lb ball and got a 13.2. The pin didn't matter.

Bought this ball to deal with the burned out lanes we have during open bowling. Does a great job of giving me something that I can work with that adds value to practice.
Tennessee, United States
Ball came in late due to backorders, but when it came in I knew it was something special. The ball is in excellent condition and rolls extremely smooth.
Mississippi, United States
I bought 2 of these, one for a 1 handed layout, and another for a 2 handed layout. It works exactly as a hybrid should. Smooths out transition fairly well and movement stays strong through the league night. However even 2 handed, there will be a point where you are too far left(right handed) for it to come back strong enough to strike consistently. So recap, perfect second ball out of the bag.
FL, United States
this ball is very good for its low entry price it is definitely a must have from the motiv line.
