Roto Grip Hustle USA Review
While no longer in production, the Roto Grip Hustle USA remains a solid option on the used market for bowlers seeking predictable performance on lighter oil conditions. Its versatile hybrid coverstock and moderate differential make it an excellent choice for house shot bowling.
what's going on guys welcome back to the channel usa usa yeah usa on today's video we're going to be reviewing the all-new roto grip hustle usa so i know that's kind of a funny entrance but i'm really excited about this ball because i love the hustle line and the fact that this one comes with a little bit of surface it's a hybrid really has me excited for what the possibilities can be of this fall so make sure to hit that like button subscribe hit that notification bell and if you like this jersey or any of the jerseys in any of my videos go to
coolbook.com and use my promo code nplus10 that'll get you 10 off your entire order and then down below in the description there should be a link where you can order this hustle usa or anything bowling related that is the absolute best way to help support the channel so let's get into some of the tech behind this hustle usa so this hustle usa just like all the other hustles feature features the hustle core which in 15 pounds has an rg of 2.53 and a max differential of 0.030 and then wrapped around that hustle core is the vtc hybrid cover stock that comes out of
box at a 3000 grit finish so that's more surface than typically comes on the hustles which is what has me excited about it it can be an option i think for me on the fresh from a little bit straighter and that's going to be the ultimate goal and in the layout as always with all my symmetrical balls it's 30 by 4 by 30. let me know down below in the comments what you guys are predicting or expecting that this ball is going to do on the lanes we're gonna be bowling here at south point on a fresh typical house shot on lane two so let's get on the
lanes and get this review started all right first start here with the hustle usa we're gonna start kind of straight and then migrate in if we have to oh let's try that again i had to move the camera a little bit you guys missed that trip 9 action oh trip four instead all right let me try to not juice one kind of feed it
into the friction and see how this looks here kind of like that wow that's long i thought that was gonna miss yeah i think this ball and me are gonna be better suited softer shaping it a little bit wow that thing comes off it though it comes off the friction hard i mean that was definitely a miss right so let me try that again not miss as much to
the right and if it still breaks loose like that i'll move in like that's where i want it to be yeah all right so let's move in all right this is going to be like three or four boards in just to see here good shot there and then towards the end of this video i will move to lane one which is where i just got done reviewing the rstx3 just
to see what it looks like on the burn a little bit yeah i'm excited to throw this next to the hustle camo to see what kind of differences i'm seeing oh dude that thing that thing gets all right let's throw a couple more from like really really straight just to see and then the rest of the video will
chase it left yeah no way i moved right all right we're gonna move another one left here get a handful at the bottom miss right yeah all right a couple more shots from here and then we'll take it back to the desk to kind of talk about my first
impressions all right last shot from here and then like i said we'll go back to the desk talk about first impressions get there all right so that was the first 12 shots with the hustle usa and just from the first couple shots i noticed right away that it's
significantly stronger than the hustle camo which is supposed to be the solid counterpart to the usa's hybrid what i am liking though is that because it is a entry level ball lower performance ball whatever adjective you want to attach to it it does want to create a little bit of shape down lane which something that i like to see i think it may be a little too strong for me to throw on the fresh from the angles that i like playing with those hustles on the fresh like for example with the hustle camo i
like to add a little bit of surface to it and play really really straight where the usa just did not allow that so i'm gonna i'm gonna keep moving left here on lane two and keep moving like i said keep moving left continue to create a little bit of shape and then when i'm done on with those 12 shots i'm gonna move to lane one where where i reviewed the rst x3 so that lane is nice and transitioned to see how this ball looks like with a little bit of transition all right so this is gonna be like another four or five left this might be too far left but we're gonna see
get there yeah it's a little too far left yeah that was too far left for the fresh so let's move like another three right and see how it looks from here yeah i think that was a much much better spot on the lane missed in a little bit
yeah it's strong in the middle part of the lane all right let me make sure i get this one going right and not miss in here kind of like that yeah i think now i'm definitely in the right spot the preferred spot even for this ball hook a lot that's a good shot though i missed right and it came around
all right keep throwing good shots because it looks pretty good from here if i could post that shot it'd be perfect i'm gonna creep left again just to see oh yeah almost fell i'm too big all right let's try that
again but not almost die if possible here [Applause] yeah it's too weak to play there all right let's move back right to where it looked really really good yeah i think now i'm definitely definitely in the right spot so let's
repeat a couple more good ones here yeah now i'm really excited to see what it's going to look like on that burn lane all right last shot here on the fresh lane and then we'll move it over to lane one like i said which is the burn
lane right so now we're all done taking a look at that hustle usa on the fresh and i like it on the front i i think i'd like it if maybe it came out a box at like 4 000 or maybe even 4k fast just something to allow me to play a little bit straighter but with the out of box finish on the fresh it's a it forces me a little bit too far in and without the knowledge of how it's going to look like on the burn lane i think i would opt to not throw this ball on the fresh now
when i get on this burn lane if i continue to chase it left and it looks good still then yeah i think it can be a viable option so let me know down below in the comments what balls you want to see compared to this hustle usa for sure the one that's going to happen no matter what is that hustle camo everything else is really up to you guys let me know in the comments all right first shot here on the transition lane and i'm going to go left to where it bailed on lane two and see how it looks here
so i mean that looked fantastic let's see if it was a fluke or we can repeat that here yeah hustle usa versatile bowling ball for sure [Music] yeah color me impressed i mean same thing like the hustle camo just super
impressive balls for the price point oh mitch right i think it even looks better on the burn than it did on the fresh missed in push no chance all right let's make sure we get this one going right those misses in just look terrible
[Music] yeah looking back at that last shot especially i spun the daylights out of it so let's that was unintentional let's try to stay a little bit more forward here i just i think that this can be a really good option on the burn when something like the high road pearl or the dark moss or just too much ball
yeah definitely think so this is going to be another two left here just to see running on a frame so i want to keep moving left that was a little too far left and then it i think what impresses me the most is that a ball with such a high rg medium differential weak cover still allows me to get in and shape it like this like that's impressive
all right we got two more shots left in the video and for this one i'm going to play straight like i was on the fresh to see if that's still there and then i'll move back left all right last shot of the video i'm going to get further left than i have this entire time kind of slow roll it to the right and see how this looks here
all right so as the at the time of recording the hustle usa i've thrown the rstx3 and the hustle usa haven't thrown the hype solid yet i'm going to do that one next so far i would rank these balls as hustle usa one and then a close second that rst x3 i really like that the hustle looked pretty good on the fresh it definitely allowed me to play that middle part of the lane on the fresh because the cover is strong enough but it does hook a little bit more down and where sometimes when you throw the stronger balls on the
fresh they tend to bail a little bit down lane and then once i got onto lane 1 that burn lane i think it looked the best that it did the entire video and obviously i wouldn't throw the hustle usa in replacement of like a wolverine dark moss or a high road pearl but when those kind of balls are a little bit too much in the burn in that in that transitional phase when they're a little bit too angular hooking a little bit too much something like this hustle usa which does have an rg in the 250s
but that differential is significantly lower even than the than the hyrule pro because the high road pearl correct me if i'm wrong might be like uh 0.047 and the dark moss is in the 50s this one being in the 30s i think could be a really good option for those really high friction low volume and low volume environments so let me know in the comments what you thought about this video if you're considering getting the hustle usa if you're not let me know down below in the comments let's get a conversation going click right here to watch another one of my videos click right here to subscribe until next time right chris
oh you both picked up
Performance Analysis
Performance Analysis
Testing revealed the Roto Grip Hustle USA to be a notably stronger performer than other balls in the Hustle line, particularly compared to the Hustle Camo solid. On a fresh house shot at medium-light oil conditions, independent reviewers observed that the ball’s hybrid coverstock and 3000 grit out-of-box finish created more shape downlane than expected for an entry-level offering. The ball required positioning deeper in the oil (approximately 4-5 boards left from initial angles) to prevent overreaction, whereas typical Hustle releases allow straighter angle play on fresh conditions. Reviewers noted that the ball’s hybrid cover generated strong friction interaction, making it less suitable for the aggressive, angular play some bowlers prefer on fresh lanes without surface adjustments.
Performance improved noticeably on transitional and burned oil patterns. When tested on a burn lane, the Hustle USA demonstrated impressive versatility and control, delivering reliable arc and pin action without the angular excess of stronger performance-grade balls. Reviewers highlighted that despite its high RG (2.53) and low differential (0.030), the coverstock engagement remained smooth and predictable through the friction phase. The ball’s lower differential compared to premium lines proved advantageous in high-friction, low-oil-volume environments, positioning it as a practical alternative when stronger balls like the Wolverine Dark Moss or High Road Pearl become too aggressive for the lane condition.
Who Is This Ball For?
The Hustle USA is well-suited for bowlers transitioning from entry-level equipment who want their first reactive coverstock ball without committing to premium price points. House bowlers and recreational league players will find this ball effective on burned oil and transitional patterns, where its symmetric core and hybrid cover provide reliable shape without demanding advanced rev rates or angle adjustments. The out-of-the-box surface works best for mid-to-higher oil volumes rather than fresh house conditions.
This ball also appeals to players currently throwing premium high-friction equipment who need a workhorse option for heavily played lanes. Rather than replacing stronger balls, bowlers can use the Hustle USA as a complementary piece when lane transition demands something less aggressive—making it a smart, budget-friendly addition to a growing arsenal. It’s less ideal for players seeking true straight-line control on fresh oil or those preferring to customize surface extensively before throwing.
The Pros
- • Excellent versatility across dry to medium oil conditions
- • Predictable and controllable ball reaction
- • Good length with manageable backend motion
The Cons
- • Limited hook potential on heavier oil patterns
- • Discontinued status makes availability inconsistent

MERICA!!!!! The newest addition in the Hustle Line is the brand new Hustle USA! This Hustle personally I feel is the best of the Hustle! The USA features the VTC Hybrid Coverstock wrapped around the Hustle Core! My Hustle USA is drilled pin over my ring finger and gives me the best of both worlds comparing the Hustle PBR and Hustle Camo! The USA reads the body of the lane hard like a PBR with more downlane but is smoother than the Camo! This Hun style would be a great addition in your bag for an entry level ball with a Big Bang for your Buck! Head over to your local Pro Shop and get yours 8/19/22!

The Hustle USA is the latest addition to Roto Grip's HP1 line. With the Hustle Core wrapped in the VTC Hybrid Cover, this ball will provide the consistency, versatility, and performance that bowlers will look for on THS or light-medium sport patterns. This coverstock is incredibly responsive to surface changes and allows you to use it in various conditions throughout league play or tournament play. I drilled my Hustle USA 6x4x2.5 2LS to give me a ball I could throw on THS. This ball allows me to close my angles and lets me blend out the over/under seen on many house shots. I also have thrown mine on a couple of short patterns after I have gotten out of urethane, and the Hustle USA stays clean through the fronts but still reacted smoothly through carry down. This ball will be a must for league and tournament bowlers alike because of the versatility this core/cover combo gives you. Bowl up a Storm!

Layout 4 ½ x 30 Surface – 3000 Grit box The Hustle USA brings back the popular Hustle Core and the VTC Hybrid coverstock found on the Hyped Hybrid. The new 3000 grit finishing process allows this Hustle to handle much more oil volume compared to the 1500 polished finish of the Hustle Camo and Hustle Wine when compared side by side. The Hustle USA gives a lot of power for the purchase price. This could be a great ball for those who bowl on lower to medium oil volumes, a first reactive ball or those who just like the Hustle line. I got to test this ball out on both a 45’ Sport Pattern and a Typical House Pattern. Test pattern: 45’ Sport Pattern When throwing the Hustle USA on the 45’ Sport Pattern, I was pleasantly surprised with how well the ball read the front and midlane of the pattern. My breakpoint was most consistent between 12 and 14. With the amount of oil volume and length, outside of the 12 board did not see much recovery. Utilizing more surface of 500 or 1000 abralon helped it see the overall pattern more and gave a little more miss room to the outside. For best results, I would recommend this Hustle for pattern breakdown where control is still necessary or for the fresh on short to medium length patterns. House Pattern Test The out of box factory surface allows the Hustle to read stronger and be smoother than the other current balls in the Hustle Line. This makes the ball much more useful for the fresh house pattern which is where I found it to be most beneficial for my game. Those also with lower rev rates or who bowl on medium volumes of oil will also find the same benefit. Those who bowl on low volumes or have high rev rates will want to likely utilize a polished or higher grit finish to promote more length and backend. I didn’t have any trouble opening the lanes up with this Hustle even as the lanes broke down. As I got further left with my feet, however, my carry percentage started to drop. Balling down to a Hustle Wine or Hyped Pearl would have been more sufficient. Adam Chase Storm Staff

Roto Grip’s new Hustle USA is a Hybrid Symmetrical piece that is good for Dry-Medium lane conditions. PAP is 5 5/16 R 1 3/16 Up. Drilled it with the Pin above the Bridge and the CG kicked out 1 ½”. It gets length with continuous backend motion through the pins for a High performance ball at an affordable price point. Compared to the Hustle Camo, PBR, and Wine, this is the stronger piece out of the Hustle line. If your looking to save money on a strong piece, this is the piece for you.

The Hustle USA features the VTC Hybrid cover at a 3000 grit finish, and the Hustle core at a 2.53 RG, and a .030 in 15 pounds. The USA is a quite different shape from the Wine and Camo, it’s earlier and smoother, plus it has more of a tumbly gradual roll and shape rather than the longer and quicker round roll of the Wine and Camo. However, the USA is a very similar strength to the Wine and Camo. The Hustle line as a whole is a very solid light to medium oil choice that succeed on regular house shots as well as tougher sport patterns. Bryanna Cote notably just won on the PWBA with the USA because of its strong, gradual roll and control. They’re definitely more of light to medium condition performance balls than entry level balls, they are a great choice for a novice or beginner bowler to help them start understanding about bowling balls that hook, but they’re obviously also a great tool for the best in the game at the highest levels of competition. The USA fits as a ball up from the Tropical Surge line, a ball sideways from the other Hustles, the Burners, and the Electrify Pearl, a half step down from the Hyped line, and a ball down from the IQ Tour and Hyroad.
