[Music] [Applause] [Music] Good morning, good afternoon, and good
evening, ladies and gentlemen. Welcome into another video. Today, we're going to be talking about the Rotogrip Ultimate Wrecker that recently just came out. But before we do, just got to give a huge thank you to Storm and I am Bowling for their continued support. If you want 20% off of your next apparel order from I am Bowling, you can go ahead and use the promo code that you see there. It's fire out07 all lowercase. Uh, and that'll get you 20% off your next order. Then here you can see the layout of the ultimate wrecker. It is drilled 45x5
by35. A little bit longer pin than what I kind of like doing. I like sticking around the 4 1/2 uh pin to pap, but the sun we did 5 in. And we'll see how it works. So we'll see the ball hit the lane here. Now this ultimate record was released on May 23rd of this year. The colors are cherry, old gold, and wine. It is a symmetrical hybrid. uses AI core technology. Uh the cover wrapped around this AI core is the pure response hybrid
cover stock. This is the first time it's ever been used. Comes out of box in the power edge polish that they came out with recently. The core is the wrecker AI core which is the first time it's ever been used obviously with that new AI technology. Um the RG is 254, differential is 045 that is in 15 lbs. Now, these are the Storm recommended usages that you can find on their website. The flare potential for this ball is medium. The ball shape is in between smooth and angular. Uh hook
length is more mid-lane to kind of down lane. Uh recommended oil volume is going to be light to medium oil patterns. Pattern length is short to medium patterns. And the lane conditions recommended using it on is more transitioning lanes. [Music]
ow pow. [Music] All right. So, here is going to be our comparison ball, which is the Storm IQ Tour AI. This was released on March 21st of this year. The colors are emerald and black. The fragrance of this ball is
going to be apple cider donut. Uh, and this is a symmetrical hybrid. This does use the AI core technology uh like the ultimate wrecker. Wrapped around this ball is going to be the R2S hybrid cover. This cover has been a very popular one. It's been used 26 times total, 14 times stateside. The cover has been used in balls like the Crossroad, the IQ2 Tour Fusion, and the High Road. This is the eighth weakest cover that Storm has. comes out of box with the
power edge polish. Uh the core is the C3 with AI core technology. This is the first time the C3 has been integrated with AI. This core, which is just the C3 core, is the six weakest core that Storm has. They don't have where that lines up with the AI technology because it does make the numbers slightly different. The RG with the C3 and AI is RG of 248. Differential is 031 and that is in 15
lbs. The recommendations on Storm's website is the flare potential is medium. Ball shape is between smooth and angular. Hook length is fairly mid-lane. Uh oil volume is medium light to medium patterns. uh pattern length is short to medium and length condition is maybe a little bit fresher but certainly more transitioning lanes. So now we'll talk about kind of what I think of this ball as we kind of
look at the versatility of it. So the ultimate wrecker I I very much like it's a very versatile ball for me. I was able to play and really any part of the lane that I wanted to with this ball. I will say it's kind of like a jack of all trades. master and none sort of thing where I haven't really thrown it where it was the absolute goat on the pattern. Uh however, it did look very very good um whatever part of the lane that I played in. So certainly a very versatile ball. Um, I I certainly like that I put
a 5-in pin on it because it does read a hair earlier and I think that's obviously number-wise. Um, as well as sort of that AI core. Uh, makes the footprint just a little bit bigger on the lane compared to what the original recorder core did. Um, certainly look good from in, look good from out as you'll see here in a minute, but a very versatile ball for sure and one that I think will find its way into a lot of tournament bags. So, uh, with that said, that's pretty much all I got for the
ultimate record. You'll see a couple shots from out here from me. Next time you see me, we will have the Hustle Glow video. So, stay tuned for that. Be sure to subscribe and hit that bell notification to be notified when that Hustle Glow video does end up coming out. So, until the next time guys, good luck and good bowling. Are
you ready?
Performance Analysis
Performance Analysis
The Ultimate Wrecker occupies the sweet spot between the entry-level Hustle line and the premium performance tier. The Wrecker A.I. symmetric core at 2.54 RG with .045 differential is a meaningful step up from the Hustle’s .030 differential — the ball generates noticeably more track flare and creates a stronger overall motion. That .045 differential puts it in range of balls that cost $150 or more, which is where the value proposition gets interesting at $119.95.
The PURE Response Hybrid Reactive coverstock with Storm Power Edge finish splits the difference between solid traction and pearl length. On medium oil — the most common house shot condition — the hybrid cover reads the midlane without grabbing too aggressively, then transitions smoothly through the breakpoint with a controlled, arcing backend motion. The Power Edge finish provides a versatile out-of-box reaction that does not require immediate surface adjustment to perform.
The higher 2.54 RG is worth noting. It pushes the ball further down the lane before it enters its roll phase, which means the Ultimate Wrecker carries more length than you might expect from a hybrid. On medium oil, that extra length is an asset — it gives the ball room to create angles without reading too early. On heavier conditions, though, the combination of higher RG and moderate differential means the ball may push past the breakpoint without making enough move.
Who Is This Ball For?
The Ultimate Wrecker is the perfect ball for league bowlers who bowl on typical medium oil house shots and want more performance than the Hustle line offers without jumping to premium prices. Tweeners — bowlers with moderate speed and rev rates — will find the hybrid coverstock and .045 differential match their game naturally. The ball provides enough hook to reach the pocket from medium angles without demanding high revs or extreme speed.
If you are stepping up from a Hustle and want to feel a real difference in performance, the Ultimate Wrecker delivers. The stronger core creates more hitting power at the pins, and the hybrid cover handles a wider range of conditions than the Hustle’s pearl, solid, or hybrid options. At $119.95, it is one of the best values in the Roto Grip lineup and should be on the short list for any bowler looking to improve their arsenal without breaking the budget.
The Pros
- • Wrecker A.I. core at .045 differential punches well above its $119.95 price point
- • PURE Response Hybrid provides condition versatility typically found in balls costing $150+
- • Power Edge finish delivers a smooth, controllable out-of-box reaction on medium oil
- • 8.5 versatility rating handles the full range of medium conditions without surface changes
The Cons
- • Not strong enough for heavy oil — the .045 differential and 2.54 RG run out of steam on volume
- • Higher RG (2.54) means it gets further down the lane than some bowlers expect from a hybrid

Layout: 4 1/2 x 4 x 4 1/4 Surface: Power Edge Rev Rate: 470 RPM Tilt: 13* The Wrecker is back and so is the Roto Grip HP2 line! This time with AI Core Technology! The Wrecker AI core is paired with the new Pure Response Hybrid cover finished with Power Edge and designed for medium oil conditions. There has not been a Roto Grip HP2 ball since the Hyped Series, so this was a well needed ball in the lineup. I was able to test this Ultimate Wrecker on a broken down 44ft typical house pattern. My intent of the layout was for a clean response and controllable backend for medium oil transitioned lanes. This is what I got out of the ball. The higher RG got the ball through the front well and easy while the moderate differential core got me enough midlane reaction to continue through the pins correctly. My first few shots showed that the ball was actually cleaner than I expected. When I got the ball a little firmer off my hand, it gave me a little too much length. When I stayed softer with my ball speed, the ball read the lane nicely and angled well through the pins. This ball is definitely a step from the Hustle Line balls but still a good step down from all the HP3 and HP4 lines. I would recommend the Ultimate Wrecker for anyone looking for a new and weaker transition ball. A game 2 or 3 ball of a medium house condition would be the ultimate condition for this. The hybrid in the coverstock gives better midlane roll than the previous hyped hybrid and more down lane motion as well. Unless your house pattern has really old lane surfaces or use low volume, the Ultimate Wrecker should not be the first ball out of the bag in most scenarios. I can see this ball being very useful in a longer format tournament that reaches 4-6 games. It will be a great step down from the Attention Star S2 or even the Rockstar if you still need a symmetrical option. For me, this ball will be brought where I need length and control. Longer patterns where the hook is closer to the head pin and medium to shorter oil conditions when I need a ball to get down the lane and control the backend will be the best options for me. A pin up drilling will give a stronger midlane read and faster response if you want more overall backend motion. Adam Chase Storm Staff

Cover: PURE-Response Hybrid Reactive Core: Wrecker + A.I. Core RG: 2.54 RG. Diff.: 0.045 Finish: Power Edge Roto Grip’s new Ultimate Wrecker is a Hybrid Symmetrical piece that is good for Medium Volume patterns. PAP is 5 5/16 R 1 3/16 Up. Rev Rate: 400. Speed: 16.5. Drilled this piece with the Pin up between the fingers and CG kicked out 1” from the palm. I threw this piece on a Fresh 43’ House pattern. Out of Box ball motion started in the mids with a Strong backend reaction through the pins. I compared this to the Hustle RIP. Hustle RIP was a 3-3 Right with a smooth motion on the backend than the Wrecker. This piece will be good for all types of styles. In the Roto Grip Line, this piece fits between the Rockstar and the Hustle RIP. Check Out the Ball motion Video on my YouTube Page: https://youtube.com/shorts/HjSQLMXp6Zc?feature=share
The HP2 Line is one of my all-time favorites and the Ultimate Wrecker will surely become a new favorite. This ball was a bit stronger than the Hustles but yet not too strong. I felt like this ball really gave me a nice smooth motion the entire way and just walked itself right into the pocket. I was able to use this ball on the fresh and when I went to use it on the lanes after one of the leagues it still gave me a nice smooth roll but the response downlane was a touch more than the Hustles.
When I’m looking for a ball that blends power, control, and a modern motion shape, the Roto Grip Ultimate Wrecker delivers in a big way. It features the updated Wrecker + A.I. Core Technology, which lowers the RG and boosts the differential, helping the ball rev up faster and produce a more dynamic overall motion. The new Pure-Response Hybrid Reactive coverstock, finished with Power Edge factory finish, gives the Ultimate Wrecker a clean look through the fronts with a strong, controlled move in the midlane and a punchy continuation through the pins. Compared to other balls in the Roto Grip lineup like the Duo or Hustle M-M, the Ultimate Wrecker offers more shape and traction than the Hustles but with a quicker response and more downlane pop than the smoother-rolling Duo. It’s the kind of ball that shines when the lanes start to open up or you need a reliable read without sacrificing hit. For league and tournament players alike, the Ultimate Wrecker is a versatile, modern update to a classic name. Go to your local VIP proshop today and get yours!
