Performance Analysis

Performance Analysis

The SWAG Craze Solid pairs the symmetric Craze Core (2.52 RG / .030 differential) with SWAG’s Rage Reactive solid coverstock at a 1500 grit polish finish. Compared to its Craze Hybrid and Craze Pearl siblings sharing the same core, the solid coverstock picks up more friction in the midlane and reads the lane earlier off the heads. That earlier read translates to a smoother, more controlled motion shape rather than aggressive snap — the ball arcs through the breakpoint rather than checking up hard, which is exactly what most house bowlers want from a benchmark piece.

The .030 differential keeps flare modest, so the Craze Solid will not over-react to dry boards or burn up energy on lighter volumes. On standard 39-42 foot house shots, the factory finish plays cleanly through the heads with a controlled, predictable mid-lane transition. For bowlers wanting more grip on heavier or longer patterns, taking the polish off and dropping to a 2000 or 3000 grit pad will bring the ball into play on medium-heavy oil while keeping the smooth core motion intact. It pairs naturally with the Craze Pearl as the second ball in a budget two-ball arsenal — the solid handles the fresh shot, the pearl moves up the lane as the pattern breaks down.

Who Is This Ball For?

The Craze Solid is built for league bowlers and beginners who want one reliable, predictable ball for medium oil at a budget-friendly price. At $119.95 it competes with equipment costing $30 to $50 more, and the symmetric core gives newer bowlers a forgiving motion that is easy to read and easy to repeat. It is a strong first reactive ball for bowlers stepping up from polyester or plastic spare equipment, and it fills the benchmark slot nicely for experienced players who want a controlled solid option without committing premium pricing to that role. Paired with the Craze Pearl, it covers fresh-to-broken-down lane transitions through a single weekend league session.

I picked up the SWAG Craze Solid, and wow, this ball is a game-changer! The solid reactive coverstock provides incredible traction on medium to heavy oil lanes, giving me a smooth yet strong reaction downlane. The motion is predictable but still packs a serious punch through the pins. What I love most is the consistency – it reads the lane beautifully and gives me confidence on every shot. Whether I’m playing a tighter line or swinging it out a bit, the Craze Solid recovers effortlessly and carries phenomenally. If you need a benchmark ball that delivers power, control, and a strong mid-lane read, this is it! SWAG knocked it out of the park with this one. Highly recommend for anyone looking to step up their game!

The craze solid is stronger than you might be expecting as a lower performance entry level ball. I am a medium speed, high rev two hander and I struggle to play near the track on my typical house shot league. This ball however, allowed me to do that with ease and more importantly, it allowed me to miss right and left and provided me forgiveness. As the lanes started to open up, the Craze solid is definitely a good ball to move left with as long as you dial your speed down a bit. Overall a great reaction for a lower differential symmetrical.

The SWAG Bowling Craze Solid is in the Primary Performance Line with a Rage solid cover and symmetric core. It has a 2.52 RG / .030 Diff and is 3000 grit polished out of box. I drilled this ball 35/3/55 with a PAP of 5 over 7/8 up. This ball is a great entry level benchmark type ball. It read the lane later and played more angular for me. It had great control on the friction and did not over react in the back. The colors swirled in the pour are awesome! I even played with it two handed and it was very controllable.

This entry level solid is an underdog. Its in the entry level category, but packs a punch, that in my opinion, is way above entry level, especially on a typical house shot. Once I got lined up, this ball gave plenty of back and power as well as some great forgiveness. If I got it out to the friction to early, it did not overreact and if I got it inside a little, it held nicely! This Craze Soild would be a great option for anyone looking to get their first Swag ball.
