Performance Analysis

The ONE Encore carries some of the biggest core numbers on this site: a 2.46 RG, a .056 differential, and a .027 intermediate differential. The Centrex Symmetrical Mass Bias design explains that last figure; Ebonite starts with a symmetric body and adds a mass bias, which is what pushes the measured asymmetry that high. In practice those numbers mean the ball revs up early, flares hard (the spec sheet’s 5-6 inches of track flare), and changes direction with a defined, angular breakpoint rather than a lazy arc. The low RG is the control element in the package: by getting the core into a roll sooner, it smooths out what would otherwise be a violent shape.

The GB 14.4 Hybrid cover at a 4000 grit sanded finish completes the picture. A hybrid at that surface reads the midlane reliably without the early burn of a dull solid, which is why the ratings split the way they do: 6 for length, 8 for hook, 7 for backend, and a strong 8 for pin action, the payoff of all that flare arriving at the pocket with energy left. The 7 versatility score is better than most balls this strong manage, largely because the big asymmetry responds dramatically to layout choices. The cons still apply: on light oil it reads far too early, and some lane surfaces will want the 4000 grit adjusted.

Who Is This Ball For?

This is a ball for bowlers who face real oil and want their equipment to do real work. Tournament players on medium-heavy and sport patterns are the core audience: the early roll and huge flare hold the line on conditions where weaker equipment wanders, and the angular finish still creates entry angle on flatter patterns. High rev rate players get a controlled version of big backend here, since the low RG starts the motion early instead of letting it all happen at once at the breakpoint. The 8 value rating makes it an efficient fresh-oil anchor for a competitive bag.

Pass on the Encore if your bowling lives on a dried-out house shot or you are speed dominant with a modest rev rate; this much core and surface needs volume to be playable. For everyone else facing heavy conditions, this is one of the stronger spec sheets in Ebonite’s lineup, and the 8 overall reflects it.
