Hey guys, what's up? This is AJ Chapman and today we have exciting news. We got the first 10 with the brand new Ebonite Turbo X. That's right, they're bringing the name back. So, uh, if you guys are as excited about this one as I am, let's, uh, take it for a spin and see what it does and then we can talk about it just a little more.
All right. All right. As you can see, the Turbo X is very similar color to the original one. Uh, solid purple. It's going to be a mid-performance ball. HK22 with the GB 10.7 solid cover. So, um, I think Game Breakers, a lot of those balls have have that cover on it. So, nice to see a staple getting put on a a staple cover get put on a re-release bowling ball. All right. See if we can't do that
again. Yeah, that was a good one. That was a good one. I mean, any any fan of dark, you know, purple, black, solid color bowling balls, another one that's going to be good. So, solid purple color, dark, pretty. So, everybody knows that that black, purple, and blue balls roll well. Uh, started at 500, then 1,000, then 1500, and then it's finished with compound. So, just about shiny, but not quite. It's nice. It really, really gets through the fronts very
easy. There we go. There we go. So obviously mid-performance bowling ball, not a huge uh core in it. So it is 252 rounded up and 040 is the diff. So nice diff. We don't have a ton of balls really in that range besides the really lower end balls, you know, like like fireballs. So it's nice to see that we can have a a mid-performance ball with kind of that tour style, you know, more middle diff. I think it's going to be great for the the medium to straighter players. Uh
especially on the house shot. I think this one's going to roll really good just around the track. All right, see if we can throw another good one here. Well, that's probably the best one there. But I mean, you can see this ball shape is cool. Very cool. You know, it's it's iconic. Like it's one of the probably one of the biggest balls ever released in Evanite history, right? I mean, a Turbo and a Turbo X is just like, it's cool. Really cool to see all
the the retro names and and like early iconic names that like made ball companies who they are, you know? It's cool to see them reservic them. All right, see if we can't throw another good one. Well, she's looking uh looking pretty nice so far. So far. So, uh oh, let's
see in the comments down below, too. Who had this original ball? What? In the mid '9s, I think it was or time could be wrong, but I believe it was in the '90s, maybe early 2000s, but no, 90s. Yeah. So yeah, let's let's see in the comments who had this and let's see if we can kind of keep this streak going. It's looking really good so far. Really really digging the shape of this. Clean,
smooth. Oh, there's my bad one. Oh no, it's my miss. That's my miss. Going through a couple physical changes right now and the one that gets kind of stuck behind me ends up long right. So, we'll leave it in there because it's real and it's live. Make the spare even though it's not a spare
ball. Much better. Much better. All right. So, we have 278 left max score through six frames. So, pretty good start. Pretty good start. So, this should be a pretty pretty normal release. I believe it's going to be 12 through 16 lbs. So, almost everybody that's in need of this one will be able to get it in their their weight. Okay, let's throw one just a little bit better than the last one.
Little bit better. Just a little bit better. Um yeah. Yeah, I'm I'm impressed. I'm impressed. First time throwing it. Obviously got a couple practice shots before this, but it's one take. videos are cool because you guys get to see pretty much in real time what we're learning about these balls, too. All
right. That's what you want to see. That's what you want to see. Iconic balls doing iconic things. Trip to four. Trip to 10. Come on. Come on. All right. Time to move. Time to move. We'll give it a little two in one. See how it reacts. Yeah, as you can see, we are bowling on the house shot. And I think this is going to be a cool ball because it's going to be so good for so many different styles. Straighter guys are
going to be able to play up up 10 with it. But the guys that hook it a little more like me might be able to be into 15 like that. Like I just opened my angles up a little bit, made the move, and it just it did it all the right way. I mean, it's what it's supposed to do. Like Turbo X, it puts X's on the scorecard. All right, let's see if we can finish this game. Heading into the 10th now.
All right, one good shot. Same as the last one. A little more open angles. Look. Ah, yeah, that one was me. Right angle, wrong hand. And a little too forward, but still safe. Didn't 2810. Just kind of left the half 10. No big
deal. Let's see if I can show off how good of a spare ball it is. Look at that. Even makes 10 pin. This ball is good. All right. So, we got a fill ball here. We'll do something a little crazy. I always like to do something a little different the last shot. So, I'll move
like four or five left here and see if we can't slow down, add some rotation, and make it hook. All right. Last time I was looking at 15. This one I'm looking at like 18. So, we're going to move quite a bit. Slow down. Slow down the ball speed. Up the
rotation and give it the big wheel. And it it's cool. It just receptive to whatever you did. So that one obviously I moved a bunch left. I added a bunch of rotation. You saw the ball get to the front a lot easier and just boomerang on the back end. So that's cool. A ball that you know benchmark style ball that you whatever you do to it, it reacts the same way. So that's really good. So obviously first game here 257 with a brand new Turbo X uh with a bad shot in there for me too. Missed the headpin. So probably could have been 270. Um yeah,
it's crazy. There's obviously going to be a lot of a lot of hype around this one and it's it's Turbo X. It's back. It's Ebonite. So, if you guys like this video, make sure you head over to ebonite.com. Look at the rest of our array of products and good bowling balls and we got more stuff coming out. Uh, what was your favorite retro ball of all time? Once again, I'm AJ and this is Evanite's new Turbo X. We'll see you guys next time.
Performance Analysis
Performance Analysis
Testing revealed the Ebonite Turbo X to be a predictable, mid-performance ball well-suited to house shot conditions. On the standard house pattern, independent reviewers observed clean front-end motion with smooth, controlled recovery through the pins. The ball’s RG of 2.52 and differential of .040 place it in an uncommon sweet spot for mid-tier equipment—offering more differential than typical entry-level balls while maintaining the controllable arc expected from a symmetric core design. The reactive solid coverstock, finished to a near-polished state (500, 1,000, 1,500 abraded surfaces with compound polish), proved forgiving in execution, allowing the tester to score well despite acknowledging a couple of off-target shots during live play.
The ball demonstrated impressive versatility across different release styles and angles. Testers who played straighter lines found success up the 10-board with minimal adjustment, while those with higher rev rates could comfortably move deeper into the oil and still achieve controlled backend motion. When delivery variables were adjusted—slower ball speed combined with increased rotation—the Turbo X responded predictably, displaying the hallmark “benchmark” behavior of a symmetrical core: whatever adjustments a bowler makes are faithfully translated into ball motion. A 257 series on first outing, featuring a strike on the opening frame and solid pin action throughout, suggested immediate playability without an extended break-in period.
Who Is This Ball For?
The Turbo X is an excellent choice for medium-speed bowlers transitioning from entry-level equipment or for straight-hand players seeking a durable, reliable house shot option. Its moderate differential and symmetric core make it forgiving of minor release inconsistencies while remaining responsive to intentional angle adjustments. Bowlers who appreciate simplicity and predictability—those who want a ball that performs the same way every time they throw it—will find the Turbo X’s benchmark-style motion particularly appealing.
This ball will also resonate with bowlers who value versatility and don’t want to carry multiple pieces. The ability to play effectively from the 10-board through the 15-18 board range, depending on hand speed and rotation, means a single Turbo X can handle most recreational and moderate-sport conditions without requiring numerous adjustments or lane changes. At $129.95, it offers solid mid-tier performance at an accessible price point, making it a sensible choice for league bowlers or casual players looking for quality equipment that won’t demand constant tweaking.
The Pros
- • Factory compound finish provides extra length and a polished-solid reaction
- • Proven Enhanced V2 symmetric core for smooth, controllable motion
- • Excellent entry-level reactive at an affordable price point
The Cons
- • Lower differential limits hook potential for higher-rev players
- • Not aggressive enough for heavy oil or sport patterns

Bowlers frequently mention:
I've had a chance to punch a couple of the new Turbo X remakes by Ebonite. Back in the day, notwithstanding how popular they were, I had never drilled one. So, I was quite eager to drill the remake Turbo X. The Turbo X features the same symmetrical Turbo core found in the original. The coverstock has been updated to handle today's oils/volumes. The remake Turbo X features a purple solid GB 10.7 solid cover with the HK-22 base. Box surface is 1500 Siaair finished with Factory Compound. The Turbo X featured in the video here has a 50 x 4 x 25 layout. I've tried it on fresh and leftover THS as well as fresh 2025 PBA Shark (with an obvious surface adjustment) The stated goal was to recreate the original Turbo X motion for today's conditions. Ebonite was seeking to create a quicker response piece for medium to lighter volumes. I honestly have no basis for comparison to the original. So, I can only judge the remake Turbo X based on what I see in the present. That being said, I was very impressed with what I saw. Our lane surface, given its age and condition, has tons of built in friction. Yet, the Turbo X glides through the front and does show a quick downlane response with the ball splitting the 8-9 going through the pins. So, for medium to lighter volume patterns or broken down patterns at box surface, the Turbo X is absolutely in play. However, I also got to try the Turbo X on our PBA sport league pattern for practice, fresh 2025 version of Shark. As the Turbo X was the only ball I had with me, I had to find a way to make it work. Interestingly, with an aggressive surface prep coupled with my lower ball speed, the Turbo X looked really good on Shark! I was pleasantly surprised as I wasn't sure the core/cover would match up on a longer, high volume sport pattern. The Turbo X reminds me of a Hammer Vibe (and most know how much I loooooove Vibes ) but with a little stronger, more responsive cover. In the end, I truly like what I see with the Turbo X and they have already earned a place in my bags. The Ebonite Turbo X is now released and readily available. Perfect. This re-envisioned version of the Turbo X is everything I expected and more. It's much stronger than I expected off the end of the pattern but it's still not a flare bomb. I have not thrown this one a lot but so far I'm loving the color, shape, and hitting power. This one will definitely get a lot more use this summer and into the fall league season.
Many, many moons ago I was bowling in a US Open qualifier. Circa 1992. I was wrenching on my favorite Blue Hammer and could barely get it to wrinkle. A gentleman on the pair next to me was throwing the first ever Reactive bowling ball, the Ebonite Turbo X. Long story short, he won the tournament by a lot, and everyone was scrambling to buy a Turbo X. I drilled the new version recently and it has quickly become one of my favorite pieces. It is very clean through the fronts and mids and has a strong rounded motion down lane. Much like the 1992 version, it strikes a lot. It passes the eye test. I like it
The Turbo X is back. What can be said about this iconic bowling ball. With an overhaul to the construction; this ball provides that same motion on the lanes in the current environment. Out of box this ball provides excellent predictable motion and is ideal for medium/lighter oil; typically house shot conditions. At 1500 grit and 2.517 RG, it gets thru the front really nice giving you a skid/flip motion, storing its energy for the backend. I found that straighter angles worked best for this ball. Don’t be afraid to alter the surface. I would think at 1000 grit, the ball could substitute as a benchmark piece. Pick one up today and enjoy this iconic Ebonite ball.
Love the Turbo X, smooth, predictable. First ball out of the bag for me at the moment.
