hello Ebonite fans I'm Dave wodka and welcome to another edition of the first 10 today we're going to be trying out the allnew gb5 Pearl so we're bowling on a high friction surface High friction house shot so we're going to start a little further left here than what you might think pretty good shot right
there so you see that nice Benchmark motion that you're used to in game Breakers uh a little shinier version of it it's got that trusted 24848 numbers and for the RG and differential so that one rolled pretty good we're going to try to keep it right there see if we can make another good one
pretty good there this has the hk22 gb1 12.7 cover on it as you can see it's very clean
got that one in just a little bit but you can see the Clean Cover got it down the lane a little bit for me
got a 500,000 1500 Compound on it again that's what's giving it that nice clean motion through the front front we're going to not make a move off that one we're just going to try to throw this one a little bit
better oh little luck there maybe we do need to make a move so we're going to move one with the feet and actually none with the eyes let's see what
happens there we go a little bit better that was the right move so this is just another game breaker in the long line of trust game Breakers that you all know about and have all thrown in the past I personally so far like this one even a little better because of the cleaner cover for me with my little bit slower ball
speed that a little right we get some got a little recovery out of there too got that one a little right so we've got double spare triple through six frames got a decent game going here with a couple of not so great shots so it's definitely given me a little bit of forgiveness
there we go another a good one you think back about all that tour success that the game Breakers have had and this is going to give the higher level tournament Players just another option in that game breaker line for when the front of the lane is a little bit uh beat up
got that one left a little oh held right there still went through the pins really really good and as all of you know that if drilled game Breakers in the past youve got a lot of versatile drilling options with this core So based on the last two and the front of the lane looking to
hook a little bit more we're going to move one more with our feet here maybe even need to move one more than that so we're going into the 10th Frame we've got a possibility of 279 would like to thank our friends here at Northway Lanes in mosan Michigan if you're ever in the area please come in and check them
out all right we're going to make even another small move here just to try to compensate for that last one uhoh all right well maybe a little over compensation see if we can't clean up our spare here and get out of here with 250
all right let's try to make one good one to finish here how about that
all right well we finished with 256 so as you can see this Ball's real versatile gave me a little bit of forgiveness uh some of the shots I missed again on a high friction surface so uh Clean Cover really good um go to your local Pro Shop pick one up and don't forget to check us out on social media I'm Dave wodka thanks for watching
Performance Analysis
Performance Analysis
Testing on a high-friction house shot pattern revealed the GB5 Pearl to be a reliable addition to the Game Breaker line. Independent reviewers observed clean, predictable motion down the lane with the expected benchmark characteristics (RG 2.48, differential .048) that Game Breaker bowlers have come to trust. The reactive pearl coverstock with 500,000/1500 compound produced a notably clean front-end motion, allowing the ball to read the lane consistently without excessive length. On the test pattern, the ball demonstrated good recovery and pin action even on shots that missed the intended target slightly, suggesting moderate forgiveness for bowlers with varying release consistency.
The GB5 Pearl’s defining characteristic proved to be its clean, polished cover in comparison to earlier Game Breaker iterations. Testing showed this surface finish particularly beneficial for bowlers with slower ball speeds, where the reduced friction helped the ball maintain energy down the lane rather than burning up in the front. On a beat-up front end, the ball responded predictably to small adjustments—testing revealed that modest footwork changes effectively managed the ball’s motion without requiring dramatic repositioning. The symmetric core design offered the versatile drilling options typical of the Game Breaker lineup, allowing bowlers to customize their reaction based on individual needs.
Who Is This Ball For?
The GB5 Pearl is purpose-built for tournament and competitive bowlers already familiar with the Game Breaker family who need a pearl option for worn front ends and medium oil conditions. Bowlers with moderate to slower ball speeds will find particular value in the clean cover, which prevents over-length and provides better shape through the midlane. This ball fills a specific niche: it’s not an entry-level choice, but rather a complementary tool for experienced players managing lane transition and looking for predictable, controlled motion.
Casual league bowlers and slower-speed players seeking forgiveness will appreciate the GB5 Pearl’s moderate recovery characteristics and straightforward motion. At its price point, it offers good value for bowlers ready to move beyond reactive resin basics but not yet prepared to invest in high-performance asymmetric equipment. This ball rewards solid fundamental technique while providing enough margin for error to keep scoring respectable even on missed shots.
The Pros
- • Pearl coverstock provides excellent length and angular backend reaction
- • Outstanding value at under $120 for a mid-performance ball
- • Same proven Enhanced V2 core as the rest of the GB5 line
The Cons
- • Pearl cover may burn up quickly on heavy oil patterns
- • Not aggressive enough for sport patterns with heavy oil volume

Solid ball and a very controllable curve. Bowled my first 200 game with this!

The GB5 Pearl is following the suit of solid GB5 version. The solid version has been a staple on the PBA Tour at the time of this writing. With the HK22 - GB 12.7 Pearl coverstock, you get excellent length and strong back end. Ebonite has introduced a more aggressive ball to fill a void in the symmetrical line. At the OOB end finish of 1500 compound, it produces a pronounced change of direction in friction. The GB5 solid is designed for heavier volume where this one works ideally on hooking lanes and/or transition. I used this ball on a fresh house shot of medium volume and was able to cross 13 at the arrows out to about 6/5 at the breakpoint with optimal carry. Pick one up and enjoy this iconic bowling ball core shape.
If you're a fan of the Game Breaker line you won't be disappointed! The GB5 Pearl is clean, offers more length, and a shaper change of direction. This ball allows me to move in and not lose any carry. I've always like the GB line and with the HK22 cover stock this ball doesn't lose any hitting power as I move in on the lanes. Get yours today!!
Got the GB5P a few weeks ago and all I can say is what an awesome addition to my bag! Fits right between my Attention Star and Ion Pro(polished) for medium oil lanes, a perfect 1-2-3 punch to take on the house shot. It has a very smooth flow down the lane, cuts through the oil with easy, and transitions very smooth through the friction, very controllable motion wise. I doesn't lose energy down the lane, and slams into the pins with excellent power. First few games it was actually stronger than my Attention Star once it hit the friction, but it calmed down nicely to provide excellent results each time you roll it. Could be my fave ball right now. If you have that middle gap in transition, this ball is a must have.
This ball is sneaky good. The Game Breaker line has always fit my game well. Something to do the big symmetric core and the 2.48, 0.48 RG & Dif. This ball is a little different though. My eye doesn't see that GB smoothness. I see a very clean ball through the heads & mids but it very strong down lane. It hits very hard even at deep angles. I think this is one of the best Game Breakers to ever come along in a very time proven line. Great job Ebonite.
