Don't change me. Don't change. >> Got no regrets. I'm on the run. Chasing the check. Dropping the top. Riding the vet. Telling myself what you expect. You know I'm with it. No better feeling cuz I could quit but I didn't. [Music] >> What's going on YouTube world? Charles Hudson here and today man we're looking at the new steel forge or forge steel. one or the other. But Pearl, you know,
I don't know what to expect. You know, the nuclear force that was previous to this was a strong really kind of early bowling ball. It felt more like a hybrid. Um, but Motus seems to do this like I feel like they're like just let a line be a line. So, you know, you'll you'll see I guess the Super is the latest, you know, where it's just a bunch of shiny bowls, but the Forge kind of jumps back and forth. So again, you got Sub-Zero for Forge here. You want to throw like one or two shots with that and it will keep it pushing because we know these balls are on a roll. Nothing
alike, but it's more of just, hey, if you really like the forge, the Sub-Zero forge, you might like this one, you know, the compliment, you know, midlane shape control might be pretty good. Um, but yeah, then we got the evocerior, which is probably the top, you know, pearl, right, for motive, which I don't think is a stretch to say. And then we also got the Primal Rage as well. So we're going to check this out. Um and then subsequent video, right? We compare it. But yeah, man. Same layout as always. I know you guys always ask
symmetrical ball. Same layout as always. I know you guys always ask symmetrical balls, same thing. 60x 4 1.5 by 30. And then again, the ASIMS are 5 in pins, same angles. So why do I choose that? Right? This is what I've seen work, right? And there might be stuff that works better. Um, I just haven't experimented with it. It's a lot of equipment that comes out. And if I start adding more and more variables to every bowling ball, right? Like, are we really comparing the ball at that point or we're comparing the layout? Are we comparing the surface, right? All those
extra things, right? Just add to it. So, want to simplify it as much as possible and, you know, so you guys can make good decisions. So, you know, again, we'll have occasional videos where I change, you know, layouts and do different things, but for the most part, right, we're going to keep the layout simple. Nothing extravagant or extreme. So yeah, man. Let's go ahead and get to it. Hit that like subscribe button as always. Appreciate you. And um let's get into the video. And this is a again a fresh house shot for Margate. Typically we see see a bit of hook. So again, we're going to start
my favorite place 25. Typically I throw the ball pretty good. All right. So again, actually feels like a little bit quicker off just the first shot, right? Like it feels quicker than that the nuclear forward out of box. Haven't done anything to it. Might throw the ball a little bit faster.
Oh yeah. So again, and a lot of people have like these similar, you know, lane panels, right? That just again a lot of friction. So, we got some friction. We will move around the lane. Just again, just get comfortable. Continuation is It's pretty impressive. I ain't going to lie. I'mma move to the right. Go to 20.
I'm not going to change my hand immediately. I'm just going to throw it to the right. Same riv rate and everything. So, without again changing my hand too much, it ricocheted a lot off of it. So, I definitely need to back the rev rate off a little bit and see if we can't get that ball to lay. So, again, I'm not going to cut my wrist as much. I'm going to break it a little bit.
So again, we lost a little bit of continuation, but ball floated a lot further and was not nearly as violent off the spot. I can live with that. So let's go to the Vocsteria. Um, just cuz again, the fresher the condition, right? Throw the stronger stuff. And then again, I'll throw the uh Subzero as well here. Little subzero first just because 20.
That's up the middle. Yeah, bad shot. Do it just up the good. So again, should be again a little bit smoother, but need to again put it out there. Give it a chance. So much more continuation and you'll be like surprised to see stuff like that. Again, the earlier throwing the cover stock, I feel like the less I have to work to actually make the ball, you
know, read the middle of the lane. So, doing that is a little bit easier versus picking up the cleaner ball that's a little more erratic. Um, so but yeah, forge jump back to 20 and then we'll jump to the Voke. Again, plenty of continuation out here. I feel like still a little overkill for the house shot. The Subzero is a really strong ball. Honestly, I feel like for
most bowlers, this is like a sport pattern ball because of how strong it is. But but yeah, let's go ahead and throw the steel. Yeah. Feel like you going to start sending more pins around with that ball like opposed to the Subzero. But fun ball to throw. Like so far so good. Honestly, I'm curious once put up the clutch and a stereo, right? How close or how far apart are these bowling balls?
Go to the stereo. just cleaned it like hit it with some more service and everything and then put some more polish back over the top. Get us closer to what it was out of the box. I've thrown this ball a ton. Oh jeez louise. That bigger core again continuation like all these balls honestly I continue really well on this lane. Gets enough oil for it for all of them. Um, and again they just roll good
nine pin. So again, Stereia, let's see if it's a really huge ball up. Oh, that's super inside, too. Oh, feels a bit heavier rolling, tumbling of a ball, but I'm going to try to leak one a lot further to the right. Um, but let's put up the steel and go back and forth. I know y'all love this hysteria.
That's a little inside, too. That looked sharper. Like I missed both of them in and the stereo kind of held and rolled through it where that steel definitely saw it. Huh. Interesting. All right, throw this one one more time. Oh, threw it out there pretty far off my
hand. But interesting to see. I want to see what the interior does. We're going to throw both of them again really wide. See what they do. So cheating even further left. Getting closer to 30 with my feet. Again, that exterior, bro, is still like in my top my top five. I don't give away my top
five, but we need to do another video here soon kind of consolidating, you know, what I think. Uh, but that hysteria is special. The same thing steel definitely gets me sharper. Like that one just is like seeing it getting quicker. And I I feel like ever since they've got to this propulsion, you
know, additive or whatever motive systems calls it. Um but these balls have been getting flippier and flippier and flippier. Um, we talking about the Max drill pearls to I forgot how all the whole order goes, but it's been a good little track of progression of just getting better and better and better. So, we're not going to spend all day here. So, I'm going to throw one with the clutch and primal rays. Might do a whole second video um with just those bowling balls. Um the lane's probably be a little more transition, but I want to
get to a full game with the steel and really focus in on again what this ball's doing on the lane. So going back moving there a couple boards back to the right. 25. Way cleaner. Look way cleaner in relation to how fast the response that we saw from the steel. Let me give her one more go. Give her
one more go just to make sure. Make sure I'm not tripping. Yeah, like almost like dropped the speed just a pinch and then that ball picked up. But that first shot as you saw, man, that that shot through the front part of the lane. Let's go to the primal.
Yeah. So, yeah, both those balls definitely are clear step down in my opinion and it's still bigger ball. So, yeah, we going to save again those two, Primal and Super Clutch for a secondary video. But today, man, went to a full game again with this new steel forge. I feel like we got a big game. I feel like we can do it. Start by about 20 26.
Oh, wow. I ain't see that coming. I thought it was pretty good. I did. Clearly, I was not ready. hook a little bit. Ah, no love. No love. All right. So, we definitely have to again either take some hand out of it or launch this bad boy down the lane.
[Music] Oh, that's what we doing. Oh, son. The disrespect. This this is it's starting off disrespectful now. This definitely can be classic case of kind of no over under ball reaction and going to a stronger cover a little smoother. Oh man. Okay, I'll use my spare ball the rest of the video. I do have it today.
So slowing down like to again let this ball go through all this migrations become a little higher flush because I feel like again that last shot threw what I wanted to but then just kind of hip in left hand. So I'm still going to stay left. Mhm. Oh wow. I like this shot. I honestly did.
Let's go to the best spare ball on the market, the Joe Po. The just twisted pink. I made a 10 pin. I made a 10 pin, guys. Yeah. So, quick t- code instead of keep trying
to go coast to coast. Some houses, right, that works. Some houses it doesn't. So, I saw what I was leaving. I didn't want to be temping it all day. I like, let me get a little more forward at the bottom instead of trying to circle it as much. See if we find some success. So, and I'm not moving crazy far to the right. stay in the same zone, but I want this ball not to be trying to go crazy left or right.
Oh man, this ball's hooking. This ball's hooking. Go for the count, man. All right. Got to get this ball to the right. 10 is super out of play. So when I try
to throw it like 210, it is like getting off line super quick. It's like you either got to get way left and kind of use that friction or I feel like you got to cross it get to the right of it because yeah it just it is st this ball is standing up and going left every time. So, I try to like, oh, see if I
can manipulate it, but I might pay max penalty, you know, if I catch one. It's not exactly what you want to do when you're trying to get score. So, something just to keep in mind. So, I'm going really try to get this getting to the gray boards. I left the exact same thing. Ball's reading too much early early
friction and bro just go left for loft. like uh in a previous um at the tournament uh Scott Anderson had mentioned to me like, "Bro, you just got to loft it sometime cuz it's just not a lot of oil in the front part of the lane cuz most boleros were out of bolero uh or AMF." And yeah, in the front just definitely seem like it's reading the lane. So, and I'm seeing my spare ball kind of like try to hook a little bit. So, that
that can that can tell me something. So, I might try to again loft it a little bit. Don't put the ball down as quickly. But yeah, this this ball is really reading the lane. Oh, that's going fire. I had a little bit of luck and it So, we're going to call this game, right? Just practice. It's all it was. Don't take the score literal. But this
like this lane is definitely getting tricky. And I don't really believe it's the ball's fault. I think it's honestly the ball looks good. It looks strong, right? A lot of a lot of angularity for what we have out here. I think the Voca would actually look better. Yeah. I honestly think this ball is just too quick. like it just too quick. Look at the vocus area just so I can see if
my point is accurate or not. Go to the vocus area. I got to see. I have to see. Does it blend it out more bigger core right is just more even like you just see it tumble tumble and no arcus way it's not as getting reactive
down lane. So definitely think this Evoke Steria is overall stronger and that uh this new for steel is pretty quick down lane. All right, let me try to throw one out more to the friction. Yeah, like it just definitely seeming to push, you know, and man like that that this still actually feels very very responsive. If you made it this far in
the video, shout out to y'all, man. Y'all real ones. And uh because we did that, we want to give away some Hype Nation uh shirts. There's new stuff on the way. So, the winner of this video will be getting one of those sent out. So, how many strikes did I have with the new for steel? I know I threw a lot of shots all over the place. I did strike though.
Like it is literally seeing the friction and I I got to get all the way left with this ball. I didn't expect this. The nuclear forge was an arcier ball. This feels like a way more responsive
bowling ball. Like way way way throw it harder. Throw it harder. That's a video guys. We got a lot more on the way. So make sure you subscribe below and that giveaway person will be selected and you'll see it posted on the channel. So, like I said, it's a community tab, I think. Look at the community tab. It's going to be a post then you'll be on Facebook, Instagram as well. So, post everything there.
Appreciate you guys as always, man. And uh yeah, till next [Music] right now. Everything I work for ain't never going to change. I pray for Hey. Hey. Hey.
Performance Analysis
Performance Analysis
Testing revealed that the Motiv Steel Forge exhibits noticeably quicker ball motion off the hand compared to its predecessor (Nuclear Force), with a reactive pearl coverstock that reads the lane aggressively even in moderate oil conditions. On a fresh house shot, independent reviewers observed strong continuation through the midlane paired with sharp, angular pin action—characteristics that separated it from comparable Motiv pearls in the lineup. The ball demonstrated responsiveness to rev rate adjustments; reducing revolutions produced smoother midlane shape and less violent backend reaction, while higher rev rates created more dramatic angularity. When tested on the same lane conditions against the Evo Steria and Sub-Zero Forge, the Steel Forge delivered earlier friction reads and quicker backend response, positioning it as a more aggressive pearl option than some established Motiv alternatives.
The testing also highlighted that the Steel Forge’s early friction characteristics can present challenges on house shots with minimal front-end oil. Reviewers found the ball reading the lane so early that it left less room for error on straighter shot angles, often requiring either reduced rev rates, lofting adjustments, or more aggressive angles to manage its reaction. This behavior suggests the ball performs best when bowlers have the ability to adjust their approach—either through hand position, speed modulation, or targeting strategy—rather than throwing it in a set-and-forget manner. Despite these lane-specific nuances, testers characterized the overall performance as “strong” and “fun to throw,” with good pin action and recovery potential when thrown in the ball’s optimal window.
Who Is This Ball For?
The Steel Forge is well-suited for bowlers with moderate to higher rev rates who bowl on medium-heavy oil conditions and want a pearl coverstock that delivers clear angular downlane motion. Intermediate and advanced players who can adjust their release, speed, and targeting will find this ball responsive and predictable—particularly useful for spare shooting or when oil patterns tighten during house play. Its aggressive early-read characteristic makes it less forgiving on completely dry front ends, so bowlers should have either the technical skill to loft when needed or access to patterns with adequate oil in the front part of the lane.
Conversely, players looking for a pearl that blends the lane smoothly or those who prefer minimal adjustments between shots should consider alternatives like the Evo Steria, which testing showed to be more forgiving and versatile across varying lane conditions. The Steel Forge rewards active adjustments and technical bowling, making it ideal for bowlers who enjoy fine-tuning their approach and want a ball that responds sharply to changes in rev rate, speed, and angle.
The Pros
- • Detonator core at .055 differential paired with pearl coverstock creates one of the most angular symmetric reactions available
- • 5000 grit pearl finish provides exceptional length through the heads, storing energy for a massive backend move
- • Low 2.47 RG combined with high differential generates significant track flare despite being symmetric
- • Outstanding pin carry thanks to the steep entry angle created by the angular backend
The Cons
- • Highly angular motion can show over/under on conditions with uneven oil distribution
- • Pearl coverstock is less forgiving than solid or hybrid — demands consistent speed and release
- • Not a good fit for bowlers who prefer a smooth, arcing ball motion

Bowlers Say
Bowlers say the Steel Forge is a versatile pearl symmetric ball with easy length and stellar board coverage. Staff praise its sharp, continuous motion and downlane recovery compared to other Forge balls. However, rev-dominant/lower speed bowlers report difficulty finding the right spot, with the ball either hooking too aggressively in friction or lacking hitting power in oil.

The Steel Forge is without a doubt, our best pearl Forge we've ever made as well as the most versatile fast response Forge we have ever made. Compared to the Iron Forge, it is just a touch earlier but not nearly as forward downlane giving it more downlane recovery by a very large margin. Compared to the Nuclear Forge, its a touch cleaner but more angular. The Steel Forge provides easy length through the front and middle portion of the lane with stellar board coverage overall that gives you a sharper and more continuous motion in comparison to the Evoke Hysteria, while being more controllable than the Primal Rage Evolution and the Supra Clutch. If you're in the market for a versatile, strong, pearl symmetric ball, this is the one for you! - MOTIV Staff member, Anthony Evans
I’ve purchased this ball but I still haven’t used it. According to the reviews this is a really good ball

I am a lower speed bowler which makes me rev-dominant and for me this ball just didn’t work. If I hit the friction the ball would take off and go hard left. If I kept it in the oil it never did get back with any hitting power. I just couldn’t find a good spot for me. If I hit the cover with some surface it blended a little better, but there are plenty of balls that work better for me out of the box. I love Motiv balls and think it would be great for some people, but for me it just didn’t ’do the thing’.
So far I have enjoyed and I have had a lot of fun with every ball y'all have gave me has been top-notch will continue using y'all in the future
