Ebonite Polaris Review
The Ebonite Polaris pairs its asymmetric core with GSV-3 Hybrid cover for reliable angular motion on medium-heavy oil. See ratings & video.
hi evernight fans tommy jones here we're gonna do the uh first game first 10 frames with the new ebonite polaris [Music] the thing that really stood out to me about this ball when i first opened the box was how vibrant the colors are better
really tell what's gonna what ball someone's using they're blowing good with it in league or bowling good with it at tournament it's got some great shelf appeal [Music]
so far so good it's got a new uh we have a new core end cover in this ball talk a little bit more about that in just a second so
so as we talk about this cover the polaris asymmetrical core has the dynamic core and the rg is 2.475 with a differential of 048 and the intermediate is point zero 18. so fairly strong intermediate a little bit lower rg [Music]
oh this has the gsb 3 solid cover it's a stock bit different it's finished 500 1500 sia air so it has a little bit of that matte finish but not too dull you can't get it through the front and i'll be looking forward to shining one of these up too and see what they do
[Music] so [Music] typically just throw these out of the box for the first video just so everybody can see how they come in their natural state don't touch them
[Music] [Music] oh a little bit of dead wood there we'll worry about that later the worldwide release date for this ball is on september 17th you'll be able to you'll be able to go to your pro shop and get one on that date really looking forward to throwing this ball a little bit
having that big ball the big asm ball that we can kind of get to go around the corner [Music] [Music] it's a little bit duller surface it's definitely gonna tend to take a little bit of oil off the lane so five frames in six frames in
four bagger ring ten and strike so it's going to make a make a little move here nothing crazy just like a one and one just to get a little bit more of that hole in the front of the lane [Music] uh
you can see the ball definitely picks up and keeps going through the pin something we're always looking for we i'm sure most of the guys watch our balls go through the pins more than we watch our ball go down the lane because i feel like we can get it to do similar things that we want going down the lane [Music] [Music]
got away with one there a little spinning definitely a little spinny but again miss polaris asymmetrical core dynamic core lower rg like i said two four seven and the uh the intermediate's high 18. that's pretty high for asymmetrical ball definitely has a lot of motor in it kind of keep it going get it started if you have a little less rev rate it'll help it help the ball get it get the motion and if you have a little bit of hand we should be able to sign this one up and get it to clear the
front more [Music] it's a little better than the last one so as we head into the 10th frame here first shot in the 10th so two more shots rolling 260. i'll take that with the first first game with any ball
[Music] [Music] that was not a very good shot very spinny very bad operator error there take our two here
somewhere in the 260s and live to fight another day [Music] all right ten frames game one oh 10 frames open sorry
open the 10th frame there i thought i was i thought i had one more frame anyways 240 bad shot in the tent there uh everybody be looking forward to getting their polaris from ebonite you're looking forward to it if you need more info please head up to all the ebonite pages and get the info on this ball and thanks for uh thanks for watching our video
Performance Analysis
Performance Analysis
Testing revealed the Ebonite Polaris delivered solid performance out of the box with the GSB 3 solid coverstock finished at 500/1500 siaair, producing a controlled matte surface that naturally picks up lane oil. Independent reviewers observed the ball generated consistent pin action through the 1-3 pocket, with reliable ball motion that transitioned smoothly through the backend. The asymmetric core with its lower RG (2.475) and notably strong intermediate differential (0.48) produced noticeable length down the lane before a controlled angular move into the pins. Testing on medium-heavy oil conditions showed the ball handled the lane well without requiring immediate surface adjustments—the duller factory finish effectively managed oil without being overly aggressive. Reviewers noted the ball’s motion characteristics were particularly beneficial for bowlers with moderate to lower rev rates, as the dynamic core design provided strong rotational support through the mid-lane.
The Polaris demonstrated versatile pin carry and consistent striking power throughout testing. While the matte coverstock created a slightly duller appearance compared to some competitive options, reviewers noted its durability advantage and potential for customization through surface adjustments. Game-one scoring in the 240-260 range on the test pattern indicated the ball performed as expected for a medium-heavy reactive hybrid without requiring significant hand adjustments or line changes. The ball’s design allowed bowlers to maintain similar launching angles while still achieving the angular motion needed to clear heavy oil from the front of the lane.
Who Is This Ball For?
The Polaris is well-suited for recreational and competitive bowlers bowling on medium to medium-heavy oil patterns who want a strong asym ball without excessive length. Bowlers with moderate rev rates will benefit most from the dynamic core’s ability to generate motion early, while the controlled backend shape rewards consistency without demanding perfect execution. This is an excellent choice for league bowlers looking to move away from entry-level equipment, or tournament players needing a dedicated piece for oil-heavy conditions.
Strokers and bowlers with lower rev rates will find particular value in the Polaris’s design, as the strong intermediate differential provides the hook and motion they might otherwise struggle to generate. The ball is also ideal for anyone seeking a reactive hybrid that performs well out of the box while maintaining upgrade potential through surface preparation, making it a versatile addition to a growing arsenal.
The Pros
- • Strong asymmetric core provides good angular motion
- • GSV-3 Hybrid coverstock offers versatility on medium-heavy oil
- • 4-5 inch flare potential creates good pin action
The Cons
- • Moderate differential limits hook potential for rev-dominant bowlers
- • 3000 grit finish may be too smooth for heavy oil patterns

Great addition to Ebonite line. Similar rg and differential as GB4 but this ball adds a mass bias differential and hybrid cover, giving it a stronger move at the end of the pattern. I also like how this ball rolls and scatters the pins.

The Polaris Hybrid is Ebonite's latest release in their Pro Performance line up. I was a fan of the original Polaris, but I am a bigger fan of the hybrid version. Ebonite described this beauty as cleaner and more angular ball motion than the original. Yes, it is. After a few games and with my ball speed, I adjusted the surface down to 2000 and got much more out of the ball. It picks up a little sooner and has a much stronger motion at the end of the pattern. Don't sleep on this one! It's a keeper.

Perfect ball for the lanes. Wish I had it a week before my league started but the difference from one week to the next was spot on.
